Anna Faye Lee

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Anna Faye Lee are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

She died on May 16, 2003, at the age of 60 at the Seminole Estates Nursing Home in Seminole.

She was born on July 8, 1942 in Wewoka to O.U. "Pinto" Gray and Laura Ellen Gray.

She was married to W.V. "Red" Lee, on August 28, 1967 in Hugo.

She was a beautician, homemaker, loving wife and mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.V. Lee, on October 23, 2000, her parents, and grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her father, O.U. Gray of Talihina, two sons, Dwayne and Mindy Bland of Shawnee and Kevin Bland of Euless, Texas and one sister, Norma Wilcox Stone of Seminole, survive her.

Casket bearers are Glen Stafford, Howard Allen, Wendell Pitts, Tom Callison, Jay Nowlin and Rusty Hall.

Honorary bearers will be W.E. "Pat" Stafford, Jerry Wade, Jimmy Wade, Bobby Goss and David Goss.

Officiating the services will be Freeman Whitlock and Jim Smith.

Interment will follow to Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Charles Lee

Funeral services for former longtime employee of Scott’s IGA Store in Wewoka, Charles E. Lee, were held on Saturday.

The services took place at the Free Will Baptist Church in Holdenville with Revs. Russell Payne and Charlie Murphy officiating.

Burial followed at the Holdenville Cemetery, under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.

Lee died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2003 in Oklahoma City at the age of 67.

He was born to Roy Roosevelt Lee and Elizabeth (Pinion) Lee on Sept. 2, 1935 in Holdenville.

Lee was brought up in the Holdenville area and attended Holdenville and Moss schools.

He married Shirley Christelee Taylor in Holdenville on Dec. 11, 1953.

Lee was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957, and returned to Holdenville at the end of his military service in 1960.

Lee and his wife left Holdenville in 1965, and lived for a short time in Wewoka and in Ft. Worth, Texas, but returned to Holdenville in 1970.

Holdenville has been their home since that time, and they had just begun their 50th year of marriage.

Lee was well known in the area, working for several local service stations as a mechanic and station attendant, and was employed for 13 years at Holdenville’s Western Auto store.

He was most familiar to Seminole County residents from his 10 years of employment with Scott’s IGA store in Wewoka.

Lee was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Holdenville.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee; and two brothers, James Lee and Harold Lee.

Lee is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Lee, Holdenville; one son, Chuck Lee, Holdenville; one brother, Kenneth Lee, Holdenville; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Jerry Beeler, Clifford Foster, Steven Lee, Tommy Lee, Todd Lee, Mike Lee, and Ronnie Lee.

Honorary pallbearers were James Morrison, Winford Smith, Gary price, Clester Wingo, Curtis Brinlee, Glen Paslay, Gerald Shed, and Steven Foster.

Ernest Lee

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Ernest "Short" Lee, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Little Cemetery Chapel.

Rev. Herbert Jones will officiate.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery, under the direction of Schumacher Funeral Home of Okemah.

Lee died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003 in Oklahoma City at the age of 80.

He was born to Thomas Ernest and Hattie Belle (Maloney) Lee on Feb. 11, 1923 in Anadarko.

Lee married Bertha M. O’Brien on Nov. 1, 1941 in Phoenix, Ariz.

He was a retired pipeline foreman having worked for Transok Pipe Line Company for many years, and, he was also a farmer.

Lee moved to Okemah in 1973 after living in the Wetumka and Seminole areas for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Billy Lee; one daughter, Mary Ruth Lee; two brothers, Bill Lee and Arthur Lee; and one sister, Mattie Lee.

Lee is survived by his wife, Bertha, of the home; one son, Ernie Lee, Wetumka; six daughters, Anita Cheatwood, Okemah, Lillian Chesser, Wewoka, Regenia Seeman, Morris, Alice Lee, Okemah, Peggy McCormick, Missouri, and Debbie long, El Reno; one brother, Kenneth Lee, Seminole; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one step grandchild; and 10 step great-grandchildren.

Betty Lena

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Betty "Hotka" Lena, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel in Wewoka.

Rev. Russell Ryker will officiate.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Lena died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003 at Carl Albert Indian Hospital in Ada at the age of 61, following a difficult battle with cancer.

She was born to Reed Lena and Lucy (Coker) Lena on Jan. 27, 1942 I Wewoka.

Lena grew up in Wewoka and attended Wewoka Schools.

She worked as a caregiver and housekeeper for a number of families in the Wewoka area until her death.

Although she never married or had her own children, she devoted herself to her family and was always present in the lives of her nieces and nephews.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Douglas Charles Lena.

She is survived by her sisters, Juanita Chupco, Wewoka, Mary Louise Factor, Shawnee, Martha Fairbanks, Earlsboro, Ruby Coffman, Tecumseh, and Sylvia Taylor, Wewoka; and one brother, Jimmy Lena, Shawnee.

Pallbearers will be Jim Chadick, Zane Smith, Gene McDowell, J.C. Kanard, Raymond Cain, and Brian Cain.

Honorary bearers will be Mary Ryles, Mary Claybrook, Mildred Pruitt, Velma Roberts, Mary Ann Norman, and Ann Cain.

Frank Richard ‘Mecco’ Lena

Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Frank Richard ‘Mecco’ Lena are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20 at the Spring Church in Sasakwa.

Wake services are set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole, with the body being taken to the church on Wednesday morning.

He died Aug. 17, 2003, at the age of 72 at Seminole Medical Center, Seminole.

He was born Oct. 25, 1930 in Seminole to Reed Lena and Molly Gray (Armstrong) Lena.

He married Rosey Lee (Tiger) Lena on Aug. 29, 1951 in Oklahoma City.

He was retired from CMI in Oklahoma City after 15 years and moved to Seminole ten years ago.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the New Trinity Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; grandson, Richard Mecco Hernandez and a brother, Douglas ‘Cocha’ Lena.

He is survived by his wife, Rosey Lee Lena of the home, five daughters, Cindy Lena and Mary Gonzales of Oklahoma City, Vickie Palomino of McLoud, Arlinda Longria of Seminole and Linda Ellis of Holdenville; one sister, Mary Louise Factor of Shawnee; eight grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren..

Casket bearers will be Cliff Ellis, Chebon Palomino, Dagoberto Palomino, Paul Factor, Thomas Gonzalas and Billy Joe Harjo, Jr.

Honorary bearers are Rodney Factor, Dave Coley, Dewayne Miller, Jim McDuff, Tommy Chambers and Chief Kenneth Chambers.

Officiating will be Dion Frances and Billy Joe Harjo.

Interment will follow at Davis Family Cemetery in Sasakwa under the direction of Swearing Funeral Home, Seminole.

Robert Allen Lena

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole County resident, Robert Allen Lena are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sand Creek Eufaula Church.

Revs. Houston Tiger, Billy Merritt, and Jimmy Alexander will officiate.

Wake services will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Sand Creek Eufaula Church.

Lena passed away Saturday Nov. 29. 2003, joining his wife of 50 years.

He was a long life resident of Seminole County.

He was born February 28, 1924, to Charlie and Winey Lena of Wewoka, Okla.

He was a US Army veteran serving during World War 11 in the Philippines.

He received many honors during his service: Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, Expert Rifle Badge, Expert 45 pistol badge.

After serving he come home to marry Wanda Lee Thomas and children born to them nine boys and five girls.

Lena was baptized at the Sand Creek Eufaula Church by Joe Tiger.

He served on the Seminole Nation Council Band Chairman and on the Justice Board of Education for many years.

Lena was one of the first Lighthorseman to serve after WWII.

He wanted to recognize his special nephews, Oscar Bunner and Charles Merritt, a niece Cherrie Wood and grandson Brian Harjo.

Lena had many special friends in the community, Arnold and Maxine Melton, Dan and Allison Simpson Wade and Wand Hand, Roy Sisco, Frank Streater, Eddie Smith, Burl & Essie Barnhart and Ramsey Thomas.

He is survived by Four daughters, Janice Powell of Wewoka, Christine Lena of Wewoka, Lorene Black of Seminole and Jennifer Lena of OKC.

Eight sons, Bobby Lena, Glenpool, David Lena, Okemah, Jonas Lena, Wewoka, Ronnie Lena, Sapulpa, Earl Lena, Okeechokee, Fla., Mel Lena, Shawnee, and Dale Lena and Jay Lena, both of Wewoka; 40 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two sisters, Cora Green and Mary Jane Lena, both of Wewoka; and one brother, Frank Lena of Wewoka.

Lena was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Winey Lena; and 4 brothers, Joe, Edward, Willie and Tom Lena; one sister, Elizabeth Douglas; one daughter, Cecelia Lena; one son Jeffery Lena; and two grandchildren Bobby Jr. Lena, Veronica Lena and great grandchild Baby Alexander.

He is survived by four daughters, Janice Powell and Christine Lena, both of Wewoka, Lorene Black, Seminole, and Jennifer Lena, Oklahoma City.

Pallbearers will be Oscar Lee Bunner, Wesley Green Jr., Glen Lena, David Lena Jr., Frankie Lena Jr., and Bennie Lena.

Honorary bearers will be Ramsey Thomas, Glenn Gibbs, Arnold Melton, Dan Simpson, Eddie Smith, Wade Hand, Roy Sisco, Frank Streater, and Burl Barnhart.
