Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident, Wilburn Lee Mason were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Interment followed at the Little Cemetery, north of Seminole, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
He died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at the age of 72 at his home in Seminole.
He was born July 29, 1931, in Bonham, Texas to George Joseph Mason and Opal Jewel (Lemons) Mason.
Mason married Wanda Jean (Boston) Mason on Feb. 4, 1969, in Durant.
He was self-employed at WW Salvage Yard for 40 years.
He was also previously employed at Tinker AFB in maintenance and mechanics for four years.
Mason served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean conflict.
He was a member of Twin Oak Baptist Church since 1985.
He enjoyed fishing and buying and selling salvage parts and old cars.
He was also a 32nd Degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two aunts, Elsie Kirkpatrick and Jettie and two uncles, Curtis and Marvin Lemons.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Mason of the home; one, Ricky Mason of Seminole; four daughters, Kimberly Leann King of Seminole, Judy Shedd of Tecumseh and Brenda Cates and Paula Rhea, both of Holdenville; five sisters, Linda Novotny and Margaret Scott of Seminole, Melba Gibbs of Dallas, Texas, Peggy Dollarhide of Morrison and June Hume of Sulphur; two brothers, George Wayne Mason of Tecumseh and Terry Ray Mason of Shawnee; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Jimmy J. Novotny Jr., Timothy Leonard, Johnny Len King and Jerry L. Mason.
Honorary casketbearers were Kenneth "Jake" Leonard, Pete Northcott, Darrell Smith and Ricky Lee Mason.
Kenneth Steve Massey
Private family services for Seminole County resident Kenneth Steve Massey of Maud have been scheduled under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.
Massey died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at the age of 59 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada.
He was born Dec. 18, 1944, in Hagerman, N.M. to Ernest Massey and Maxine U. (Gillham) Massey.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. (P) in Vietnam.
He served from Jan. 12, 1962 until Jan. 11, 1968.
He was a retired truck driver.
His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons, Kenneth Stuart Massey of Helena, Mont. and Douglas Kent Massey of Kodac, Alaska; one daughter, Elizabeth Naomi Massey of Lewistown, Mont.; two brothers, Joe Massey of Sheridan, Wyo. and Michael Massey; two sisters, Alice Peavler of Maud and Patricia Unger of Fountain Valley, Calif.; and one grandson.
Roger Eugene May
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Roger Eugene May are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Brother John Wiles will officiate the services.
Burial will follow at the Holdenville Cemetery, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
May passed away Thursday, June 26, 2003 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital at the age of 63.
He was born to Andrew Jackson May and Flossie (Pruitt) May on April 20, 1940 in Wetumka.
May married Carolyn (Smith) May on Feb. 28, 1959 in Holdenville.
He was an oilfield production engineer and pumper, and was of Baptist faith.
May was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Devoe Maye in 1995; and one sister, Barbara Whittern in 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn May, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Jalena May, Seminole, Tommy and Carmen May, Maud, and Rodney and Dovie May, Shawnee; two daughters and son-in-law, Kim and David Kiker, Seminole, and Karla May, Seminole; one sister-in-law, Shirley Maye, Seminole; one brother, Jerry May, Van Buren, Ark.; eight sisters, Obie Osborn, Shirley Osborn, and Claudetta West, all of Wetumka, Judy Allen, Wewoka, Janie Mize, Earlsboro, and Ladonna Brown, Jeanie Jones, and Mary Brawdy, all of Seminole; one brother-in-law, Dan Whittern, Tecumseh; nine grandchildren, Marcus and Abby May, Michael May, Wesley May, Staci Kiker, Derek Kiker, Devon May, Macie May, and Dassie May; and two great-grandchildren, Destiney May and Marcus May, Jr.
Casket bearers will be Marcus May, Michael May, Wesley May, Derek Kiker, Ryan Smith, and Randy Osborn.
Honorary bearers will be Wayne Stokes, Charlie McNamara, Jerry May, Larry Smith, and his nephews.
Bryce Maylen
WEWOKA -- Funeral services for Bryce Andrew Maylen, 19, of Wewoka, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel.
Rev. Larry Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
A wake service is set for 6 p.m. Monday at Stout-Phillips Chapel.
Maylen passed away Saturday in an auto accident south of Seminole.
He was born Dec. 21, 1983, in Seminole to Danny Ray and Kerri Leigh (Houser) Maylen.
He graduated from Butner High School in May 2002 and had enlisted with the Okemah unit of the Oklahoma National Guard in 2000.
He completed basic training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C., in 2000, and Advanced Individual Training in Gulfport, Ms., in 2002.
He recently began his studies at Seminole State College.
He was a member of Mission Home Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Peggy Maylen, in 2002.
Survivors include his mother, Kerri Maylen, now of Eufaula; father, Danny Ray Maylen and his wife Valerie of Wetumka; brother, Riley Ray Maylen, Eufaula; a fiance, Cristan Alt, Shawnee; grandparents, Phyllis and Dan Houser and Charles Maylen, all of Wewoka; and great-grandparents, Jane and Clifton Houser, Wewoka.
Other survivors include two aunts, three uncles and numerous cousins, relatives and many friends.
Edward McBeth
Funeral services for Seminole resident, Edward McBeth are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27 at God’s Glory Temple in Seminole with Revs. G.W. Luther and Jim Rider officiating.
Interment will follow at the family cemetery in Reagan under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
McBeth died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at the age of 78 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home.
He was born May 13, 1925, in Konawa to Arthur McBeth and Pearl Simer.
He married Nadine A. McBeth on Sept. 28, 1979 in Claremore.
He moved to Seminole 13 years ago.
He worked as the meat department manager for Safeway and Homeland for several years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as Navy Seaman First Class and received an honorable discharge on Dec. 5, 1945.
He was a member of God’s Glory Temple in Seminole.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bob McBeth; and one sister, Ruby Flowers.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine A. McBeth of the home; two sons and daughter-in-law, Tony McBeth of Tulsa and James McBeth and Alona of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy Shields and husband, Johnny and Delores Abbus and husband, Khalil, all of Tulsa; step-children and spouses, Harry Claytor and wife, Betty of Earlsboro and Joe Gatewood of Holdenville; grandchildren, Johnny Shields, Robert Shields, Brandy Eberle, Ibrahim Abbus, Meagan Abbus, Rebeca McBeth, Mieka McBeth, Tony McBety Jr. and Melissa Puga; step grandchildren, Cindy Grabin, Teresa Hannah, Jason Claytor, Gary Loving and Lacey Loving; and several great grandchildren.
Mary McClanahan
Funeral services for Mary Virginia McClanahan of Wewoka are pending with Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
She died May 22, 2003 at the age of 83 in Kindred Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Raymond McClanahan
Wewoka resident Raymond Eugene McClanahan died Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 65.
Mr. McClanahan was cremated, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, and no services are planned.
McClanahan was born on Aug. 5, 1937 in Little.
He married Dorothy J. Smith, and she survives him of the home.
McClanahan was a retired transmission mechanic.
Other survivors include three daughters, Sherry L. McNeill, Wewoka, and Shillea J. Hill and Sandra A. Thompson, both of Seminole; one son, Raymond Eugene McClanahan, II, Wewoka; one sister, Delores Bradberry, Dallas, Texas; one brother, Orvel McClanahan, Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Martha Jane McCready
Funeral services for Seminole County residents sister, Martha Jane McCready were scheduled for 2 p.m. July 3, 2003, at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Rev. Randall Miller officiating.
She died on July 1, 2003, at the age of 78 years, in Prague.
She was born Feb. 1, 1925 in Stigler to John L. and Mary (Ballard) Adams.
She had been a resident of the Paden area most of her life with the exception of living in Vian for several years.
She attended Paden Schools.
She married William Clarence McCready on June 5, 1942 in Okemah and he preceded her in death of Jan. 11, 1986.
She was a homemaker and worked for Beoing Aircraft for five years. She had attended several churches in the Paden area.
Her parents, a daughter, Ida Rhea McCready and two brothers, Clifton Adams and Carney Adams also preceded her in death.
She is survived one son, Bill McCready of Rogers, Ark.; one daughter, Mary Sue Watkins of Paden; one brother, Clinton Bud Adams; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Interment will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery in Paden with the grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.
