A memorial service for Wewoka resident Marion Kay McDaniel is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Seventh Day Adventist.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
McDaniel died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003 at her home at the age of 51.
She was born May 20, 1951 in Seminole to Desmond and Thelma (Lee) Ross.
She was a longtime Seminole and Wewoka resident.
McDaniel was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and a son, Tyler Eugene Stewart.
She is survived by her companion, Philip Ray Stewart of the home; two sons, Philip Ray Stewart Jr. and Scott Stewart, both of the home; two daughters, Tracy (McDaniel) Creger and Shelly (McDaniel) Robinson, both of Oklahoma City; six sisters, Carolyn Houck and Janis Villarma, both of Earlsboro, Joyce Ross, Barbara Orr, and Joan Morris, all of Seminole, and Pat Carter of Konawa; and two grandchildren.
Karla Dean McKay
A memorial service will be held for longtime Seminole resident, Karla Dean McKay at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home.
Karla journeyed to heaven on Sunday, April 13, 2003 at her home at the age of 47.
She was born to Barney and Evelyn (Covington) Davis on September 15, 1955 in Seminole.
Karla married Michael McKay on July 29, 1983 in Seminole.
She was a registered nurse, wife, mother, friend and Mimi.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gary Watson.
Karla is survived by her husband, Michael of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Kassie and Lucas Smith of Oklahoma City; one son, Jansen Staley of Tulsa; two step-daughters, Myria McKay of Seminole and Mandy Simmons and her husband, Justin of Tahlequah; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Ivonna Watson of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister in law, Barbara Watson of Tyler, Texas; grandson, Garrett Riley Smith of Oklahoma City; aunts, Helen Brown and Sadie of Oklahoma City.
She is also survived by the father of her two children, V.P. Staley his parents, Vernon and Louise Staley and a myriad of close friends who loved her to death.
David McKinney
Funeral services for Seminole resident David Henry McKinney are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Historic Strothers Chapel.
Dr. James Sills is set to officiate.
Burial is to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
McKinney died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003 at Unity Health Center North in Shawnee at the age of 77.
He had been a Seminole resident since 1986.
He was born July 4, 1925 in Irdell, Texas to George A. and Bessie (Cook) McKinney.
McKinney married Dora V. McKinney. She survives him of the home.
He was an electrical contractor in North Carolina.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
McKinney was a 32 degree Mason in Seminole City Lodge #476 and Scottish Rite in McAlester.
He was a member of First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Martha Hendrix.
McKin is also survived by one son, David E. McKinney of Kingston; one sister, Bobbie Jones; two stepsons, Bart and Fred Walker; one stepdaughter, Rae; three granddaughters and several great-grandchildren.
Cecil McLaughlin
Funeral services for Cecil McLaughlin, father of Paulette Shoemaker of Seminole, are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague.
He was born Feb. 10, 1908 in Prague to Leonard and Maggie (Rogers) McLaughlin.
He died Aug. 14, 2003, at the age of 95 in Prague.
He was a lifelong resident of Prague and married Ollie Hicks on Oct. 14, 1931.
She passed away on Dec. 23, 1972 after 41 years of marriage.
McLaughlin then maried Mayme Bell on Feb. 14, 1974, and she passed away on Jan. 2, 1996, following 22 years of marriage.
He followed in his parents footsteps, dedicating his life to his family and farming.
He worked at Tinker Air Force Base for a short time and was a bus driver for Prague Schools.
He sold his farm home of 66 years in 1999 and moved into the town of Prague.
He was a faithful member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
He was a quiet person but friendly to everyone.
In his younger days, his hobbies were fishing and horseback riding.
In his later years he added travel to his list of things to do.
He visited Seattle, Washington, Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia, Vancouver and the inland of Canada with his daughter and son-in-law at the age of 89.
His last major trip was to the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee at the age of 91.
He loved looking at the beautiful scenery of his creator and listening to gospel music.
Konawa all-night singing was a favorite, but he never missed a night of listening to the singers on television.
His parents, four brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
He is survived by one son, Cecil W. (Pat) McLaughlin of Prague; two daughters, Wanda (Don) Osborne of Oklahoma City and Paulette (Ed) Shoemaker of Seminole; five granddaughters; three great grandsons and one great granddaughter.
Randall Miller will officiate the service.
Interment will follow at the Prague Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
Homer McMullen
WEWOKA – Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday for longtime Wewoka resident, William Homer McMullen. Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Rev. Henry Bell will officiate at the services, assisted by Rev. Dan Anderson. Services will be held at the Stout-Phillips Chapel and interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
McMullen, 96, died Thursday afternoon, March 27, 2003 at Elmwood Nursing home.
He was born in Guntersville, AL on Aug. 25, 1906 to Thomas Marion and Zella Bell (Reynolds) McMullen.
He came to Oklahoma in 1910 and attended school at Farmersville School, a small one-room country school in northeastern Seminole County.
McMullen is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Kathryn McMullen and one son.
In 1928, McMullen married Kathryn House; she preceded him in death in 1985.
In June 1986, he married Grace McLeod; she survives him of the home.
McMullen worked as a rancher and farmer for Bart Aldridge, north of Wewoka. After ending his career as a rancher/farmer, he worked at Redbud Food Center and Scott’s IGA until his retirement.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop and especially loved making birdhouses, which he gave to all his friends. He also enjoyed gardening and landscaping.
Other survivors include one daughter, Willa Bell McMullen, Del City and one stepson, Charles Evans, Seminole; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Pallbearers listed are Bob Thomas, Lindell Smith, John Sircy, Cato Jones, Cecil Moore, Ronald Stafford, Johnny Wingo and Earl Bevelhymer.
Honorary pallbearers listed are Bob Newman, Tommy Walker, Elmer Pompey, Fred Smith and Ferril Williamson.
Maxine McNally
Graveside services for longtime Wewoka resident, Maxine McNally, were scheduled for 2 p.m.., Monday, Nov. 17, at Oakwood Cemetery.
Rev. John Lively officiated, under the direction of the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
McNally died home on Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at the age of 93.
She was born on Sept. 21, 1910, in Terasita to Julius and Nanah Drew Porter.
She attended Cherokee school.
She married Dan McNally on December 20, 1931, and was married for 69 years.
They made there home in Wewoka, and she was a housewife, and a member of Methodist Church.
McNally was also preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 69 years Dan McNally.
She is survived by her son: Jerry McNally of Wewoka; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Billy Melton
Graveside services for Seminole County resident, Billy Jay Melton are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Little Cemetery, north of Seminole.
Rev. Tony Chesser will officiate.
Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville.
He passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at the age of 63 in Muskogee.
He was born Oct. 8, 1940, in Cameron, to George Washington Melton and Ruby Virginia Gober Melton.
He attended Poteau High School and worked in auto parts stores in Fredrick and Okmulgee; he recently moved to Muskogee.
Melton loved to fish and enjoyed visiting with friends and family.
His parents, one sister, Lorene Barber and one daughter, Tammy Lynn Wilhelm, preceded him in death.
He is survived by three sons, Monte Kent Melton, Dee Melton and Kilven Gene Melton, all of Altus; one brother, Leon Melton of Holdenville; three sisters Lois Williams of Ardmore, Lenora Thomason of Wewoka and Vonda Smith of Tulsa; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
