Annemarie Pointer

Annemarie Pointer was born in Bad Nauheim, Germany, on Aug. 1, 1923, to Lithuanian parents.

She resided in this resort city where she managed a dress shop for many years.

In 1946, she met her husband, Bob Pointer, who was stationed in Frankfurt with the American military.

They were married Sept. 23, 1948, and upon the completion of his tour of duty, the couple returned to the United States and made their home in Seminole.

Annemarie spoke little English at first, but learned the language and began her career working in the restaurant industry.

She was happy to be in the United States and wanted to become a part of the country.

She studied hard and proudly became a US citizen in April, 1956.

She continued working in the restaurant business until her retirement from the Harvest House Restaurant in 1972.

In her later years, she greatly enjoyed being a homemaker, tending to her flower gardens and spending time with her family.

Annemarie passed away Friday, March 28, 2003, at Unity Health Hospital, Shawnee, Okla.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Monika and Derek Nash, Dallas, Texas; and sister, Ursula Nowakowski of Bad Nauheim, Germany.

She was a devoted wife and loving mother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Juanita Lee Pointer

Funeral services for Juanita Lee Pointer, sister of Wewoka resident Ruby Kimrey, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Hudson-Phillips Chapel, Wewoka.

Rev. Meredith Robinson will officiate.

Burial will follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Pointer died Friday, March 14, 2003, in Holdenville, at the age of 73.

She was born Feb. 10, 1930, in Saskawa to Ed and Pearl (Lucas) Brewer.

She was reared in the Holdenville area and attended Moss Schools.

She married Dallas H. Pointer in Plainview, Texas, on Oct. 20, 1948; he died in 1980.

They made their home in Holdenville, where she enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.

She retired from Komar and spent the rest of her life caring for her home and family.

She was also preceded in death by one son, John Ed Pointer; a daughter, Beverly Pointer; one brother, Bill Brewer; and one sister, Edna Swope.

Survivors include three children, Pam Youngblood, Doug and Cathy Pointer, all of Holdenville; one stepson, Alvin Pointer, Sedona, Ariz.; two brothers, Recil Brewer, Spaulding, and Jim Brewer, Holdenville; two sisters, Ruby Kimrey of Wewoka, and Genevieve Henry, Clovis, Calif.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Eduardo Ponce

Funeral services for Sasakwa resident Eduardo "Eddie" Ponce, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka.

Rev. Lee Wayne Fowler will officiate.

Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Ponce died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002 at the age of 51.

He was born to Ray Luna and Juanita Ponce on Oct. 13, 1951 in El Paso, Texas.

Ponce grew up and graduated high school in El Paso.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sherry Ponce, of the home; their children, Belinda Ponce, Edward Ponce, Jr., Enoch Ponce, Sasakwa, and Angela Ponce Cotton, Seminole; his parents, Ray Luna and Juanita Ponce; his brothers and sisters, Rosemary Zunita, Ramona, Calif., Martha Diaz, Arizona, Ray Luna, El Paso, Texas, and Sophia Luna, Los Angeles, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Elizabeth Thomas Postoak

Funeral services for native Seminole county resident, Elizabeth Thomas Postoak are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Springs Baptist Church in Sasakwa.

She was born Oct. 17, 1930, at Wolf to Jack Thomas and Linda Powell.

She attended grade school at Fairview and finished at Bacon.

She married Leonard Wade Postoak in 1949.

She worked as a cook at the Yeager Headstart and Oakridge Home in Wewoka for several years.

Later she worked as a provider.

She was a member of the Many Springs Baptist Church in Holdenville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Wade Postoak; one son, Terry Postoak, one grandson, Walter Williams, Jr.; two sisters, Edna May Lowe and Yannah Coker; and one brother, David E. Thomas.

She is survived by five sons, Walter Williams of Muskogee, Edward Postoak and Winston Postoak of Oklahoma City, Ronald Postoak of Wewoka, Tim Postoak of Holdenville; two daughters, Linda Postoak of Wetumka and Johnnie Mae Postoak of Oklahoma City; 25 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Wake services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.

She will be moved to the Springs Baptist Church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Revs. Frank Moppin and Leon ‘Chippie’ Postoak will be officiating the service.

Pallbearers will be Brian’Sonny’ Postoak, Justin Williams, Jonathan Williams, Wayne Williams, Franklin McGiesey and Stuart Williams.

Honorary bearers will be Coey McGiesey, Jason McGiesey and Eric Postoak.

Interment will be in the Postoak Family Cemetery in Sasakwa under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Stephen Dale Postoak

Tech. Sgt. Stephen Dale Postoak, USAF, died May 9, 2003, due to an illness, at Tinker AFB in Midwest City, at the age of 36.

He was born in Ardmore on July 20, 1966, to John Postoak and Mary Jane (Underwood) Postoak.

He graduated from Ardmore High School and married Lucille ‘Lucy’ Emarthla on October 27, 1987.

He enlisted in the USAF in 1988 and served 15 years with his final assignment since December of 2000, with the 33rd Combat Communications Support Squadron at Tinker AFB.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy, formerly of Wewoka; one daughter, Marissa and one son, Zachary; his father, John Postoak of Ardmore; his mother, Mary Jane Postoak in Philadelphia, Miss. one brother, Ken Postoak also of Philadelphia, Miss.; two sisters, Denise Taylor of Ardmore and Lynette Sykes of Philadephia, Miss., and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Wake services will be held at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

He will be moved to Cold Springs Indian Baptist Church at 9 a.m. Wednesday and his funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev’s. Ron Fleming and George Hargocee officiating.

Full Military Honors will be presented by the Tinker Air Force Base Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be MSgt. Jeff Nicholas, TSgt. Lavina McQueen, MSgt. Mitch Ayotte, TSgt. Ken Livingston, SSgt. Carl Pegues, SSgt. Michael Ansley, SrArmn Christopher Tucker. SSgt. Bill Higgins and SSgt. Johnny Cerrito.

His Honorary pallbearers will be Major Amy Dalton, Major Cephaus Franklin, Captain Kevin Robling, MSgt. Curt Olesnevich and Seminole Chief Kenneth Chambers.

In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Family Support Center, Food Pantry at Tinker AFB, 405-739-2747.

Interment will be in the Emarthla Residence Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.

Maynard Prather

A memorial service for former Seminole County resident, Maynard M. Prather is scheduled for Dec. 12 in Oceanside, Calif.

There will also be a memorial service held at 10 a.m. Dec. 16 at the First Christian Church in Seminole.

Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, also in Seminole.

Conducting the service will be Stephen Haney and nephew Don Lindsey.

Prather died Dec. 3, 2003, at the age of 100 in Vista, Calif.

He was born Jan. 21, 1903, in Merramac to W.H. and Elizabeth Prather.

He married Ruth Ramsey on April 29, 1930, in Stillwater and moved to Seminole, where he was employed by his father in the oilfield, carpentry and construction work.

The couple built their home at 611 W. College St. and lived there until they moved to Vista, Calif. in 1997 to be near their son.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Seminole since April 4, 1932.

He was deacon emeritus, member of Beran Sunday School Class, Christian Men’s Fellowship and served on the church board and committees many years.

Prather, together with his sons, Maynard and Leonard, began construction of the First Christian Church located at the corner of Timmons and Simpson Streets in Seminole, on June 3, 1932.

The church was dedicated Nov. 6, 1932.

He is survived by his son Garry Prather and his wife, Pat of Bonsall, Calif.; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one sister, Hallie Winkler of Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Ruth on Oct. 24, 1930; his parents, three sisters and one brother.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Poplin, Phillip Morris, Alvin Yoesel, Floyd Akin, C.M. Clark and Don Lester.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or your preference.

Henry Pruitt

Funeral services for Wolf resident Henry Thomas Pruitt, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Steve Cline will officiate.

Burial with full military honors will follow at Wolf Cemetery, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Pruitt died Thursday, March 6, 2003 at his home at the age of 74.

He was born to Thomas Henry Pruitt and Treva (Coyner) Pruitt on Aug. 19, 1928 in Cushing.

Pruitt was a 1944 graduate of Cushing High School.

Pruitt married Pauline (Zimmerman) Pruitt in 1988 after the death of his first wife, Betty Jo (Yerby) Pruitt on Nov. 20, 1983.

He was employed and retired from the Armour Meat Company in 1984.

Pruitt was a Staff Seargent in the U.S. Army, and served during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Leatha.

Pruitt was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jo (Yerby) Pruitt.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Pruitt, Bowlegs; two sons, Thomas Randolph "Randy" Pruitt, Plano, Texas, and Rocky Joe Pruitt, Tulsa; one daughter, Cynthia (Pruitt) Purcell, Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, Forrest Addison Pruitt and Robert Pruitt, both of Oklahoma City; and one sister, Jo Ann Cargill, Cushing.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
