Funeral services for Wewoka resident James L. Reid are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel in Wewoka.
Rev. Dan Anderson will officiate the services.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
James passed away on Saturday Feb. 8, 2003 at Signature Point on the lake in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 84.
He was born to Lewis I. Reid and Mabel E. (Black) Reid in Blair, on April 21, 1918.
James lived the majority of his life in the Oklahoma City area, while working on the family farm during the depression and attending college in Altus.
He worked in Texas for a time prior to volunteering during World War II for service to his country with the U.S. Air Force.
Following his discharge he returned to Oklahoma City and was employed by the Department of Defense at Tinker Air Force Base for another 30 years of civil service prior to his retirement.
A 32nd degree Mason, James held several offices with the fraternal organization, and was an active community and church member.
Prior to retirement, he and his wife, Ruth, made their home in Wewoka, where he devoted the remainder of his life in community service, church fellowship, and playing golf with his many friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, M. Ruth Reid, on July 3, 1995; and his sister, Helen Goins.
He departed this life peacefully, having lived a full and active life, and leaves surviving him three daughters, Beverly Murphy, Dallas, Texas, and Janet pool and Terri Jolynn Reid, both of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, William Gregory Reid, Santa Clara, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Holmes, Greg Gilchrist, Ginger Ratcliff, Patty Murphy, Greg and Wade Hales, and Jay Burke; and eight great-grandchildren, Christain Smith, Whit Whitfield, Taylor, Seth, and Rudy Gilchrist, Hannah Ratcliff, and Wyatt and Gabrielle Hales.
Pallbearers will be Martin Pool, Greg Gilchrist, Brian Ratcliff, Brent Pool, Terry Holmes, and Floyd Snider.
Honorary bearers will be James Harrod, Warren Jones, Jake Cleaver, and the Masonic Lodge.
Kate Reville
A service for remembrance for former Seminole resident, Kate Armstrong Revile was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12 at the Bethany Church of Christ followed by a 1 p.m. service of remembrance officiated by Dr. Randal Spindle, Mickey Gilliland and Terry Jones at Mercer Adams Chapel in Bethany.
Revile died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at the age of 90.
She was born in Dec. 1913 in Konawa to J.T. and Minnie Pearl Armstrong.
At the age of 16, she opened her own beauty shop and began her career as a hairdresser after the family moved to Chickasha.
She married Ervin Revile Feb. 5, 1939, and moved to Oklahoma City.
Revile was preceded in death by her son, Jim in 1958, her husband, Ervin in 1962, brother, Joe Armstrong and sister, Nell Paddack.
She is survived by daughters Yvonne of Bethany and JoAnne Toews of St Ann’s, Ontario; one son, Dr. William P. Reville; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Glenn Rhoades
Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident, Glenn Elton Rhoades of Maud, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Maud.
Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.
At the request of Rhoades’ daughter, all former students will be honorary casket bearers.
Weekend visitation hours at Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home will be Saturday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.
Rhoades passed away Nov. 13, 2003, at the age of 92 in Oklahoma City.
He was born April 8, 1911, in Ensign, Kansas to William Franklin Rhoades and Birdie Mae (Archer) Rhoades.
In 1922, he moved to the Panhandle of Oklahoma and lived near Texoma and Goodwell.
He graduated from Goodwell High School in 1930, and in 1934 he received his B.S. Degree in Industrial Arts from Panhandle A&M (now Panhandle State University).
He taught school at Plainview High School near Boise City for two years.
In 1936 he moved to Stillwater and began working on his Master of Science Degree at Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University).
He moved to Maud in 1937 and began a long teaching career.
In 1942 he completed the requirements for his Master of Science Degree.
He retired in 1973 after teaching 35 years in Maud and one year in St. Louis.
While teaching and after retirement, he received many awards from the Maud Schools and various graduating classes.
He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Maud, the Maud Historical Society, Chamber of Commerce, Pottawatomie and Seminole County Retired Teacher’s Association and Senior Citizens of Maud.
He spent many hours attending functions of the Maud Schools after retirement and volunteering at the Senior Citizens.
On May 21, 1939, he married Selma Luvenia Pugh of Maud, in Okemah.
After over 60 Years of marriage, she preceded him in death on March 22, 2000.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lester Rhoades of Mannford and two sisters, Delora Wyatt and Marguerite Muller of Tulsa.
Rhoades is survived by his daughter, Mary Dubben and husband Harl of Oklahoma City; two grandsons, Klye L. Dubben of Dallas and Jay S. Dubben of Piedmont; one brother-in-law, Carl Muller of Tulsa; four nieces, Carla Mae Chase of Marshall, Ark., Oneta Roles of Inola, Willa Mae Gowdy of Cleveland and LaFerne Caldwell of Tulsa; three nephews, Jerry D. Muller of Catoosa, Dr. Harold G. Rhoades of Royston, Ga. and Dr. Floyd L. Jennings of Houston, Texas.
The family would like to thank Forest Glade Retirement Community in Bethany and the Bellevue Nursing Center in Oklahoma City for their care and making the past four and a half years as enjoyable as possible for Rhoades.
Memorial donations may be made to the Glenn and Selma Rhoades Memorial Scholarship Fund, Maud Public Schools, P.O. Box 130, Maud, Ok. 74854.
The fund was set up at the request of the Rhoades to provide scholarships for the students of Maud.
Ken Rhoads
Funeral Services for George Kenneth "Ken" Rhoads, brother of Wewoka resident Kathleen Filson, were held Saturday at the Oak Avenue Baptist Church in Ada.
Revs. Joe Ligon and Randall Christy officiated the services.
Interment followed at Swan Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home of Ada.
Mr. Rhoads died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003 at Norman Regional Hospital.
He was born to A.H. "Ack" and Iva Rhoads on Dec. 16, 1922 in Dolberg.
Shortly after, his family moved to Sasakwa were he attended Sasakwa and Wewoka schools.
Ken was attending Murray State College when he met his wife of 60 years, Frances Virginia Turner.
After returning to Oklahoma from World War II, Ken and Frances moved to Ada in 1946 where they made their home with their six sons.
Ken worked in the construction industry for over 50 years.
At the time of his death, Ken was co-owner of B&R Foundation Repair, an Ada-based company.
Ken is survived by his wife, Frances, of the home, and six sons, George Kenneth "Kenny" and wife Sue, Darrell and wife Becky, Farrell and wife Deborah, Harroll and wife Susan, and Karroll Rhoades, all of Ada, and Kevin and his wife Carla of Purcell; two sisters, Kathleen Filson of Wewoka, and Jean Young of Earlsboro; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Ken was a loving and devoted husband, father, and "PaPa."
Ken was a friend to everyone he met and will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers were Ken, Darrell, Farrell, Harroll, Karroll, and Kevin Rhoads.
Honorary bearers were Bill Bolin, J.B. Bolin, Boyd Bolin, Rex Munday, Randall McCowen, Jim "Chico" Allenbaugh, Craig Whipple, and Rob Alvarado.
Cassandra Rhodd
Funeral services for former Sasakwa resident, Cassandra Lynne (Harjo) Rhodd are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Bird creek Baptist Church in Sasakwa.
She passed away May 30, 2003, at the Medical Center of Arlington, Texas at the age of 43.
She was born on January 10, 1960 in Oklahoma City to Eugene and Elouis (Factor) Harjo.
She attended schools in Shawnee and Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Benny Factor, Minnie Factor, Robert Harjo and Wisey Harjo.
She is survived by her parents, Eugene Harjo of Henryetta and Elouis Factor of Shawnee; one daughter, Savanna Miller of Arlington, Texas and three sons, Rodney Harjo, Dewayne Rhodd and Jason Rhodd all of Arlington, Texas; three grandchildren, four brothers, Victor Harjo, Carlos Harjo and Darell Harjo, all of Shawnee and Benny John Harjo of Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Augustine Harjo of Arlington, Texas and Shannon Harjo of Henryetta; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will include Mike Scott, Tom Kaskake, Steve Ellis, Randy Chakenethe, Terry Richie and Rodney Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will include Robert Harjo, Tommy Harjo, Artimus Melton, Leon Lusty and Hap Harjo.
Revs. Bill Hobia and Kenneth Cooper will officiate.
A wake service will be held Saturday evening at 6 p.m. at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel.
She will be moved to the church on Sunday at 4 p.m., with wake service starting at 7 p.m.
Interment will follow at Bird Creek Church Cemetery in Sasakwa under the direction of the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
Edna Richard
Funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident, Edna Richard, are scheduled for June 14 at 11 a.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church of Wewoka.
She was born on June 17, 1911 in Wewoka, to the late James W. and Emma L. McElwee.
She died June 10, 2003, at the age of 91 at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City.
She lived in Wewoka until her health began to fail and moved to Oklahoma City to live with her nephew.
She was a member of the Church of the Living God.
She was a homemaker and worked many years for Mrs. Floyd Floyd.
Her parents, her husband, three brothers and six sisters preceded her in death.
Two nephews survive her, Ernest McElwee of Oklahoma City and V.I. Spencer of Wewoka.
Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Myers Mortuary.
