Funeral services for former Maud resident, John C. Shoemaker are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Maud Church of Christ under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.
Shoemaker died April 18, 2003 at the age of 59 at Unity North Medical Center in Shawnee.
He was born December 31, 1943 in Maud to Paul Truman Shoemaker and Vera Dean (Eddy) Shoemaker O’Dell.
He had retired after 29 years of teaching history at Shawnee High School, had obtained his master’s degree and was a member of Northridge Church of Christ.
He was a member of OEA and authored a book, "Fire on the Prairie" and was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1982 and three aunts.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Vera and Sam O’Dell of Norman; His former wife, Marsha Shoemaker of Tecumseh; his son, John Ryan Shoemaker of Shawnee and a daughter, Mardee Shoemaker of Oklahoma City; brothers, Sam O’Dell of Pampa, Texas and James O’Dell of Norman; sisters, Paula Unruh of Snyder, Texas, and Patricia Ann Taylor and Susan Fae Skaggs both of Norman; and aunts, uncles and a number of nephews and friends.
Service will be officiated by Cliff Craig with interment to follow to Cummings Cemetery in Maud.
Florence Shreve
Graveside services for former Maud resident Florence Shreve are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Riverside Cemetery in McLoud.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Shreve died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003 at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Lexington at the age of 76.
She was born to Rufus Hicks and Leona (Patton) Hicks on July 25, 1927 in McLoud.
Shreve was a former resident of the Sunset Estates Nursing Center in Maud.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Billy Hicks on Aug. 5, 1998.
Jennifer Shultz
Funeral services for Jennifer Renee Shultz, granddaughter of Wewoka residents Ray and Willene Shultz, are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
Services will be held at the Prague Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Emmons officiating.
Burial will follow at Little Cemetery, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.
Shultz died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003 in Oklahoma City at the age of 20.
She was born to Brad and Tammy (Silas) Shultz on Nov. 9, 1982 in Shawnee.
Shultz had been a resident of the Prague area most of her life.
She attended Prague Schools, and was a 2001 graduate of Prague High School.
While attending school in Prague, she was a member of the Pom Squad, the Prague Band, was voted Band Queen for the 2000-01 school year, and served as a Youth Facilitator.
Shultz was currently attending Seminole State College, and was a member of the SSC cheerleading squad.
She was employed at Loves Country Store, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Prague.
Shultz is survived by her parents, Brad and Tammy Shultz, Prague; one sister, Megan Shultz, Prague; her maternal grandmother, Barbara Barner, Prague; and her paternal grandparents, Ray and Willene Shultz, Wewoka.
Rosie Simmer
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole County resident, Rosie (Williams) Simmer of Maud are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at Williams family cemetery in Maud under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Memorial services are set for Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. at the World of Life Church at the corner of Franklyn and Green in Maud.
Wake services are set for Thursday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Simmer died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at the age of 78, at Seminole Medical Center.
She was born March 13, 1926, in Maud to Joney Williams and Ellen (Chupcogee) Williams.
In 1945, in Wewoka she married Joseph Simmer, who preceded her in death in 1977.
Simmer was a homemaker and belonged tot he Achena Presbyterian Church in Maud.
She was preceded in death by her husband; companion of 20 years, Johnson Davis in 2000; Jerry Cline, who was raised as her son, in 1983; six brothers and six sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda and husband Hershel Davis of Maud; Ricky Cline, who was raised as a son, of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Charley Williams of Maud; two sisters, Henryetta Dick of Maud and Lela Williams of Shawnee; and two grandchildren.
Alma Lee Simmons
Graveside services for Alma Lee (Gan) Simmons of McLoud, mother of Seminole resident, were scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Dale Cemetery in Dale under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service in Harrah.
She died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at the age of 82 in McLoud.
Simmons was born Dec. 21, 1920, in Bowling Green, Ky. to Thomas and Effie Pearl (Lee) Gan.
She had lived in Illinois and Texas before moving to McLoud to be near her family.
Simmons was a member of Franklin Worship Center in Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Oral Simmons; two brothers, Bob and Howard Gan; a sister, Martha Paulk; and two grandsons, Kenny Moss and Danny Morgan.
Simmons is survived by three sons, Richard Morgan of Seminole, Lawrence and Ronald Morgan, both of Hearne, Texas; four daughters, Brenda White of Las Vegas, Nev., Madonna Wells and Karen Skaley of McLoud and Charolette Read of Spring, Texas; one brother, Herbie Gan of Hayward, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Cluts and Eunice Ingram, both of Houston, Texas; 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Kathryn Simmons
Graveside services for lifelong Seminole resident, Kathryn "Tammy" Simmons are scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Simmons died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at the age of 91 in the Pioneer Nursing Home of Seminole.
She was born Aug. 19, 1912, in Seminole to A.A. and Minnie Killingsworth, who were early settlers in Seminole.
Her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Killingsworth and Rev. and Mrs. John W. West were also early Seminole settlers.
Except for a few years in Texas and Arkansas, she has made her home in Seminole.
She was married to Hugh Simmons on June 20, 1929 in Mountainburg, Ark.
She was a homemaker.
Her parents; her husband; and two grandchildren, Danny Simmons and Tammy Simmons Lee preceded her in death.
She is survived by her three children, Hugh "Sonny" Simmons and his wife, Anna of Seminole, Neta Myrick and husband, Sam of Midwest City, and Coreta Jeffers of Columbus, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Lauren R. Simmons
Lauren R. Simmons, age 15, of Apache, died on Friday Aug. 8 in Seminole.
She was born Dec. 27, 1987 to Troy Simmons and Rita Corriveau.
She attended Webster Middle School in Oklahoma City.
She was known by her nick name of "Soakie".
She liked to listen to music and was interested in basketball.
She liked to dance and be with her sisters and friends.
She was a member of the Apache Reformed Church and a member of the Comanche tribe.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Apache Reformed Church in Apache with the Rev. Eugene Mithlo officiating.
She was preceded in death by her great grandfather, Roy Simmons, grandparents, Suzanne L. "Neconie" and Ronald Lucien Corriveau.
She is survived by her father, Troy Simmons of Apache; her mother, Rita Anderson of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Paulette Simmons of Apache, Pauline Simmons of Shawnee and Marisa Simmons of Lawton; grandparents, Margie and Kenneth Simmons of Apache; and great grandmother, Lottie Simmons of Apache.
Interment will follow at the Cache Creek Cemetery.
Felicher G. Simpkins
Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Felicher G. Simpkins is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at Galilee Baptist Church, Seminole.
She died Aug. 18, 2003, at the age of 36 in Kansas City, Mo.
She was born June 29, 1967 to Shirley Simpkins and Earl Carolina.
She went to Seminole Public Schools until high school.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Jeremy Jermaine Simpkins; and her grandparents, L.C. Simpkins, Bessie Mae Simpkins and Geneva Carolina.
She is survived by two sons, Terry Simpkins of Kansas City, Mo. and Montelito Simpkins of Seminole; one daughter, Nigeria Simpkins of New York City, N.Y.; one brother, Johnathan Ray Simpkins of Oklahoma City; one sister, Monica Hudson of Kansas City, Mo.; her parents, Shirley Simpkins of Kansas City, Mo. and Earl Carolina of Wewoka; her grandfather, Richard Carolina, Sr, and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles and aunties.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 at E.R. Morris Funeral Chapel, 4316 Troost, Kansas City, Mo.
Interment will follow in Westwood Cemetery, Wewoka.
Cheryl Sisco
Services for Seminole County native Cheryl Dean Sisco (Foster) are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the New Life Church in Wewoka with Revs. Richard Pickup, Tommy Azlin, Frank Moppin and Matt Cobb officiating.
Interment will follow at the Fish family cemetery, six miles south of Wewoka, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
She went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at the age of 55 at Unity North Hospital in Shawnee.
She was born in Wewoka on April 12, 1948, to Charles and Eliza Jesse Foster.
She attended New Model School and graduated from Wewoka High School in 1966.
She lived in Tecumseh and was employed by the Firelake Golf Course.
She is survived by her mother, Eliza Foster of Wewoka; three children, Mike and Darlene Sisco of Tecumseh, Shelle and Dale Stafford and Tori and Scott Aldridge, all of Wewoka; one sister, Lisa and David Cobb of Seminole; one brother, Lynn Foster of Houston, Texas, a niece and nephew, Matt and Lara Cobb of Seminole; and nine grandchildren, Terry and Mercedes Sisco, Colton, Kelsey, Carli and Cole Russell Stafford and Mallorie and Gavin Aldridge.
Her grandchildren were her absolute pride and joy.
Pallbearers will be Chris Chesser, Jeff Keifer, Russell Bemo, Richard Palmer, Cate Jesse and Dale Jesse.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Sisco, David Cobb, Matthew Cobb, Dale Stafford, Colton Stafford, Scott Aldridge and Gavin Aldridge.
