Graveside services for Seminole resident, Hazel May Sligar are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22 at the Little Cemetery, north of Seminole, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
She died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at the age of 87 at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
She was born July 22, 1916, in Henryetta to Burrel F. Ward and Vesta (Wagner) Ward.
She moved from Shawnee to the Little area in 1945.
She lived in the Little community and Prairie Valley area for 48 years.
She moved to Prague where she lived for 11 years.
At the time of her death, she was a resident of the Parkland Manor Nursing Home in Prague.
She married Lewis Adam Sligar on Aug. 25, 1937, in Stillwater and was married for 59 years when he preceded her in death on Jund 20, 1996.
He was a homemaker, a Rebeka since 1935, and also a past member of the Prarie Valley Homemakers Club for eight years where she had also served as president.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Roy Sligar on Oct. 7, 1998 and Lewis Mack Sligar on Jan. 8, 2003; one daughter, Margaret in 1939; and one brother, Sherman Ward.
She is survived by two sons, John Sligar of Prague and David Sligar of Canon City, Colo.; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
David James Smart
Services for former Seminole County resident, David James Smart will be held on Monday, July 28, 2003, at the Church of Christ, in Wewoka.
He died July 22, 2003, at the age of 45 in Florence, Ala.
He was born Sept. 3, 1957, in Wewoka to Emit and Wilma Smart.
He graduated from Butner High School in 1974 and moved to Alabama three years ago.
Smart was self-employed and the proprietor of Smart Quality Rags.
He is survived by his bride-to-be Kim Baker, of the home, his parents Emit and Wilma Smart, Wewoka; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Sharon Smart, of Brinkley, Arkansas; his sister and brother-in-law, Rene (Smart) and Ronnie Crawford of Wewoka; his nephew, Rhett Crawford, and many friends and relatives.
Pallbearers will be Randy Chaney, Dale Beaver, David Schwenke, Judge Sawyer, Jesse Sawyer and Larry Sawyer.
Officiating the service will be Revs. David Mabry and Johnny Hinton.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Billie B. Smith
Graveside services for brother of a Seminole County resident, Billie B. Smith are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 5, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. at the East Lawn Sierra Hills, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, Calif.
He died Sept. 1 2003 in Carmichael, Calif.
He was born July 15, 1923, to Monte and Lenora Smith in Oilton.
He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought at Normandy.
He was in the Battle of the Bulge and received a Silver Star.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Louise Smith in 1989 and by his second wife, Jimmy Lee Smith in Aug., 2003.
He worked for Hughes Tool Company for more than 30 years and was a resident of Carmichael since 1968.
He was a strong willed man with a sense of humor and was an avid sports fan.
He will be missed by all.
He is survived by his sisters Norma Dollar of Seminole, Anne Tate and Monta Cross of Angleton, Texas; his daughters, Carol Smith, Diane Chastain and Melinda Smith, all of Sacramento; his grandchildren, AJ and Aaron Powers; his sons-in-law; Ralph Powers, Mark Chastain and Jaison Ram.
Glenn Smith
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident, Glenn Smith are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 2 at the Church of Christ at Little under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Rusty Dawson will officiate.
Interment will follow at Little Cemetery, north of Seminole.
He died Aug. 30, 2003, at the age of 82, at his home in Seminole.
He was born April 4, 1921 at Little to Edward P. Smith and Ethel (Jarvis) Smith.
He was married to Dorothy L. (Collins) Smith on April 3, 1948 in Edmond.
He ran a dairy for several years and was also a rancher and farmer.
He was a member of the Church of Christ at Little, a delegate for Farmers Union Association. and was former president of the Seminole County Cattle Association.
He was also active in the Strother volunteer fire department and the Seminole County Conservation Services.
His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Smith of the home; two daughters, Lynda Sims of Seminole and Karen Luce of Flower Mound, Texas; three sons, Glen Wayne Smith of Edmond, Vance E. Schwab of Yukon, and Tony Schwab of The Woodlands, Texas; one brother, Thomas Smith of Stratford; 10 grandchildren, Kristen and husband, Michael Haskins, Scott and wife, Cindy Luce, Jill Smith, Connor Smith, Josh Smith, Brian Luce and four from the Schwab family; and three great grandchildren.
Casket bearers are Scott Luce, Brian Luce, Josh Smith, Michael Haskins, Chris Custard and Coy Sims.
Honorary bearers are Milo Foreman, Howard Byerly, Jeff Davis, Dick Harper and Harold Parsons.
Lonnie Smith
Graveside services for Lonnie Neal Smith, brother of David and John Smith of Seminole, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at the Tecumseh cemetery.
Services are under the directions of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.
Rev. Mike McCauley will officiate.
Smith died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003 at his home near Meeker, at the age of 45.
He was Born on Dec. 27, 1957, in Oklahoma City to Wiley Paul and Letha Lee (Wiggins) Smith.
Smith had been a resident of Meeker for the past four years and had previously lived in Shawnee.
He was a concrete worker and a Baptist.
Smith was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother Letha Smith, Meeker; four brothers, David Smith and John Smith, both of Seminole, Harold Smith, Skiatook, and Steve Smith, Shawnee; five sisters, Ruth Bales, Meeker, Sandra Eddings, Prague, Brenda Scott, Byers, Elaine Bledsoe, Sallisaw, and Regina Sexton, Kingston.
Pat Smith
A celebration of life is scheduled for Wewoka resident, Lovey Patricia "Pat" Smith, at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church in Wewoka.
She died May 31, 2003, at the age of 69, at Integris Baptist Medical Hospital in Oklahoma City.
She was born in Schoolton on Aug. 8, 1933 to Robert H. "Bob" Jones and Effie A. Hale McCulley.
She grew up in Seminole County and graduated from Old Butner School in 1952.
She married Roy A. Smith on Dec. 24, 1952, in Wewoka, and during her life was employed in the cafeteria for Wewoka Public Schools.
She enjoyed cooking, quilting, sewing and was devoted to her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Gilbert Jones, Bertram McCulley and John Henry McCulley; and one granddaughter, Sabrina Dean Mathews.
She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Roy Smith of the home; her daughter, Rosanne L. Mathews and her husband Tom of Wewoka; her sons, Randy A. Smith and wife Deanna of El Reno and Bryan Smith and wife Debbie of Wewoka; two sisters, Wanda Jones Millsap of Wewoka and Lovey Jones; one brother, Carl Jones of Elisonre, Calif.; eight granddaughters, Misty and Alvie Watters, Stephannie and Kelly Stafford, Stacy and Jeremiah Johnson, Tony Mathews. Cindy and Hiram Mitchell, Kim Smith, Allison Jones and Jessica Crain; ten great grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, Annah, Elijah, Seth, Canyon, Micah, Cierra, Issiah, and Trinity; and a numerous number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Clay Millsap, Terry Davis, Ricky Davis, Lester Williams, Carzell Brown, Grant Smith and Johnny Gloston.
Honorary Pallbearers are Misty Watters, Stephanie Stafford, Stacy Johnson, Tonya Mathews, Cindy Mitchell and Kim Smith.

F.E. ‘Red’ Southard
Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident F.E. "Red" Southard are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague.
Rev. Paul Heard will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Prague Cemetery, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.
Southard died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 in Seminole at the age of 88.
He was born to Joseph Emanuel and Alice (Orr) Southard on March 15, 1915 in Omaha, Ark.
Southard married Alma Kubicek on Sept. 5, 1940 in Okemah.
He worked in the oil industry as a driller for many years, and was a former mayor of Paden.
During his time as mayor of Paden, Southard worked closely with the Oklahoma Highway Commission to reconstruct Highway 62.
In 1972, he and Alma moved to Seminole where he began his own business, "Red’s Quality Used Cars."
Known for his honesty, integrity, and knowledge of automobiles, he was very successful in this new endeavor.
Country and Western music was one of Red’s greatest passions and his favorite musician was Bob Wills.
As a young man, Southard attended many Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys’ dances across the state.
Later in life, he attended many local dances.
Southard was preceded in death by his wife, Alma, on April 21, 1988; his parents; one brother; and three sisters.
He is survived by one son, Tom Southard, Oklahoma City; one daughter, Elaine Young, Sudbury, Mass.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
