Funeral services for long-time Seminole resident George C. Thompson, are scheduled for 11 a.m. on April 23, 2003 at the Swearing Funeral Chapel.
Thompson died April 20, 2003 at the age of 70 at Seminole Medical Center.
He was born on June 28, 1932 in Seminole to George Thompson, Sr. and Adele Moore Thompson.
He was a bus driver for Seminole Public Schools from 1961-1970, served with the Seminole Police Department from 1961-1963 and was a truck driver for Cannon Express.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Private First Class, serving from 1951-1954 and received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars.
He also received the UN Service Medal and a Meritorious Unit Commendation.
He was a member of the Gleaners Holiness Church in Seminole.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George, Sr. and Adele Thompson.
Casket bearers will be Floyd Quinality, Lloyd Cross, Clayton Whitlock, Steve Chesser and Cecil Hood.
He was survived by a host of friends.
Earl J. Thornton
Funeral services for Seminole County resident Earl J. Thornton are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at Hunter Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.
Interment is set to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, also in Oklahoma City.
Thornton died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003 at the age of 95.
He was born in Elkhart, Texas, to Walter and Eugene Thornton.
Thornton was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II, and worked for Southwest Tile and Marble for many years.
He moved to the Seminole area four years ago, and was a member of the First Methodist Church in Seminole.
Thornton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys; one sister; two brothers; and one grandson.
He is survived by one son, James E. Thornton; two daughters, Betty J. Kerlin, Seminole, and Darlene Lusk; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and his companion Glenda Brown.
Cledith Thrift
Funeral services for Cledith Mae (Lindsey) Thrift, 71 years, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 3 at Little Quasarty Baptist Church, Cromwell.
Revs. Fred Lindsey and Eddie Lindsay will officiate.
Interment will follow at Little Quarsarty Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
Wake services will be held Tuesday, December 2 at 8 p.m. at the church.
Thrift died at Deaconess Hospital, on Saturday, Nov. 29.
She was born on Feb. 4, 1932, in Wewoka to Eddie and Lucinda Lindsay.
She married Ivan Thrift on July 21, 1976, in DeKalb County, Georgia.
She worked as an Independent Business Operator until her retirement in 1999.
Thrift was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Pauline Deere, and one brother, Thomas Lindsey.
She is survived by her three children, Eddie LaGrone, Muskogee, Phyllis Shewmaker, Oklahoma City, Debbie Taber, Oklahoma City, and ten grandchildren. Also, her brothers and sisters, Fred Lindsey, Eddie Lindsey, Oklahoma City, Andrew Lindsey, Oklahoma City, Minnie Poole, Wetumka, Hattie Mae Harjo, Wewoka, Josephine Camp, Wewoka, Lola Lindsey, Henryetta, a special friend, Brenda Wylie, Oklahoma City, and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers will be: Terry Lindsey, Albert Poole, Jeremy Dawson, David Lindsey, Richard Lindsey, and Bill Henson.
Honorary bearers will be Legus Harjo, Jacob Camp, Jr., Kurt Shewmaker, Patrick Taber, Bob Ross, and Justin Westphalen.
Allan Tiger
Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Allan Ray Tiger, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Middle Creek #2 Baptist Church.
Revs. Steve Holata and Redmond Wolfe will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Middle Creek #2 Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
Wake services will be held at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Tiger died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003 in Aurora, Colo., at the age of 38.
He was born to George Tiger and Ella Mae (Tanyan) Tiger on March 3, 1964 in Seminole County.
Tiger’s parents died at an early age and he was adopted and raised by Sam and Lillian (Mingo) Tiger.
He attended and graduated from New Lima School.
Tiger moved to Colorado following graduation and was manager for a restaurant in Colorado at the time of his death.
He married Kathy Cruse on Feb. 14, 2003.
Tiger is survived by his wife, Kathy, of the home; his step-children; his brothers, Malcolm Tiger, Holdenville, Glen Tiger, Seminole; and sisters, Leona "Sugar" Tiger and Billy-Louise Scott, both of Shawnee, Maureen Tiger, Holdenville, Madeline Trusty and Clara "Goode" Tiger, both of Denver, Colo., and Betty Tiger, Oklahoma City.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Harjo, Robby Tiger, Jimsey Tiger, Leon Harjo, Ben Tiger and Anthony Tanyan.
Honorary bearers will be Tiger’s nephews.
Regina Tiger
Services for Seminole County native, Regina "Ginna" Kay Tiger of Shawnee are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30 at the Wewoka Indian Baptist Church with Revs. Mike Wester and Rev. Charlie Denny officiating.
Interment will follow in Buck family cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
There will be a wake service Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Stout-Phillips Chapel.
Tiger died in Unity Health Center in Shawnee on Thursday Dec. 25, 2003, at the age of 45.
She was born May 20, 1958 in Wewoka to Leroy Joshua and Jane Tiger.
Ginna graduated from Shawnee High School and attended Gordon Cooper VoTech.
She was a member of the First Indian Baptist Church of Shawnee.
Survivors include one brother, Keith Tiger of Oklahoma City, as well as a host of other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by parents; Leroy Joshua and Jane Tiger and one sister, Pamela Tiger.
Leon Tracy
Funeral services for Seminole resident Leon Clyde Tracy are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Midwest City.
Interment will follow at the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City, under the direction of Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home.
Tracy died Thursday, May 29, 2003 at the age of 79.
He was born to Orpha and Mary Tracy on Nov. 20, 1923 in Cushing.
Tracy was a veteran, serving during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey, of the home; one son, Fred, of Luther; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Ray C. Turbeville
Funeral services for Ray C. Turbeville are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Swearingen Funeral Home.
Rev. David Karges of First United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Turbeville passed away Nov. 28, 2003, at Seminole Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 7, 1915, in Yoakum, Texas, to Cameron and Bertha (Balhorn) Turbeville.
He graduated from Pharaoh High School and moved to Seminole in 1939. He was a master pipeliner for Sun Oil for 47 years.
Turbeville was an original member of the Elks Lodge and a member of First United Methodist Church.
He loved to garden, play golf and was proud of his family.
Turbeville was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Goff; parents and his brother, Ben Turbeville of Tyler, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Parker Dacus Turbeville, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Ray Thaler, Miami, Fla., and Mickey and Will Whitely of Ponca City; stepdaughter, Susie and Ramsey Altman of Atlanta, Ga., and the Gary Turbeville family of Okemah; grandchildren, Dana Brown of Seattle, Wash., Doug Brown, Miami, Kellye Sommer of Clearwater, Kans., and her husband, Tom, Cris Bullard of Oklahoma City, Ashley Altman and Allison Altman, both of Atlanta.
Survivors include great-grandchildren, Micah Martin and Laken Sommer, Clearwater.
The family requests memorial donations be sent to Maple Grove Cemetery Association.
Pallbearers include family members Will, Ray, Ramsey, Tom, Cris and Doug.
Honorary pallbearers will include Vernon James, D.D. Patterson and Foy Dacus.
Corean Turner
Corean Turner of Holdenville, passed away April 18, 2003, at the age of 81 in Holdenville.
She was born October 22, 1921 in Mountain View, Ark to A.C. and Maud Ingram.
She graduated from Mountain View Schools.
On December 5, 1941, Corean married Reverent Richard Turner in St. Louis, Mo. and together, they raised five sons.
The family came to Holdenville in 1960 where Rev. and Mrs. Turner were co-pastors of the Harvest Time Tabernacle.
Corean was preceded in death by four brothers, Ott, Coley, Jack and Ralph Ingram and one sister, Opal Poston.
Survivors include Rev. Richard Turner of the home; her sons, Jim Turner of Marion, Ill., Granville Turner of Blanchard, Tom Turner of Holdenville, William "Jack" Turner of Mason, Texas and John Turner of Wynnewood; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. April 22, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Holdenville.
Interment followed to the Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
