Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Lena Laurette Yandell are scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 20 at the First Christian Church in Wewoka with Rev. Larry Townsend officiating.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
Yandell died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at the age of 92 in Armada, Mich.
She was born June 27, 1911, in Haileyville to John D. and Rose Baker Townsend.
She was reared in the Haileyville area, graduated from Haileyville Schools and then went on to Oklahoma College for Women.
She graduated from East Central University in Ada with a Masters Degree.
She married Jones Yandell on Dec. 26, 1933 in Haileyville.
Yandell was employed as an English teacher at Wewoka High School.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Wewoka, A.A.U.W., Wewoka Garden Club and Oklahoma Educators Association.
She was a volunteer at the Seminole Nation Museum.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, John Townsend; and one sister, Rosemary McIntyre.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Glowicki of Shelby Twp, Mich. and Jone Miller of Woodlands, Texas; one brother, Jim Townsend of Shawnee; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Deanna Yargee
Funeral services for Wewoka native Deanna Jo Tiger Yargee, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Community Church (old Vamoosa School).
Revs. Franklin Harjo and Joe Factor will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Culley-Harjo Family Cemetery, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Committal at the cemetery will be officiated by the Alabama-Quarsarty Tribal Group Traditional Speaker, Turner Scott.
Deanna passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 41.
She was born in Wewoka on Jan. 17, 1962, to Jackson Tiger and Margaret Harjo Tiger, and grew up in the Vamoosa area.
Deanna graduated from Central High and attended Seminole State College and Wes Watkins Vo-Tech.
She married Lymon Yargee on Oct. 7, 1977 in Holdenville, and they made their home in the Vamoosa area.
Deanna was an LPN at the Carl Albert Indian Hospital in Ada from 1995 to 1998, and was currently employed as a family service worker for CDI-Seminole Nation Head Start.
She was a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Deanna was preceded in death by her father; her brother, David Tiger; and her maternal grandparents, Jonah and Eliza Harjo.
She is survived by her husband, Lymon Yargee, Sr., of the home; her children and their spouses, Jack and Joyce Tiger, Konawa, Hayga (Yargee) and Sean Chalepah, of the home, Lymona Jo Yargee, Konawa, and Lymon Yargee, Jr., Wewoka; her mother, Margaret Tiger, of the home; her sister, Mary Christine Leetka, Shawnee; seven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Cornelieus Shamburger, Chris Yargee, Chebon Cook, Edward "Eco" Robertson, Charles Yargee, and Matt Yargee.
Honorary pallbearers are Robert Leetka, Jr., Christopher Leetka, Willie Leetka, Eugene Harjo, Jr., Sean Chalepah, and Frisco Yargee.
Douglas Yates
Graveside services for Douglas E. Yates, father of Seminole County resident Franky Yates, were scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Rev. James Walter officiated the service.
Services were under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee.
Yates died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at the age of 66 at Unity Health Center North Campus in Shawnee.
He was born April 6, 1937, in Bryan County to Charlie Yates and Julia (Ridens) Yates.
He attended school in Silo.
In May 1957, he married Wilma Cottingham.
He worked as a masonry contractor in the Shawnee area for many years and had been a resident in Shawnee since 1973.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma; one daughter, Tahnee Yates; one son, Michael Yates and one brother, Benjamin Yates.
He is survived by two sons, Ricky Yates of Shawnee and Franky Yates of Seminole; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother; J.C. Yates of Shawnee; and other family members and friends.
Floyd Yeager
Memorial services for Floyd A. Yeager, father of Seminole resident, Pat Moore, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 at the Prague Cemetery with Rev. Doyle Long officiating.
He died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at the age of 78 in his home.
He was born Dec. 20, 1925.
He graduated from Prague High School and married Sylvia (Roberts) Yeager April 15, 1949.
Yeager was a World War II veteran.
Survivers include his wife, Sylvia of the home; three sons, Tommy and Wife, Melba of Oklahoma City, Richard of Oklahoma City and Stephen of the home; three daughters, Pat Moore of Seminole, Karolyn Phillips and husband, Terry of Guthrie and Joan Fleming and husband, Roger of Prague; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, one sister-in-law and brother-in-law Earl and Bea Hanks of Prague.
