Funeral services for Seminole resident, Juanita Madeline (Garrison) Anderson are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 23 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Senter officiating.
Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
She died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at the age of 91 at her home in Seminole.
She was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Yellville, Ark. to George William Garrison and Lillie Ann (Evans) Garrison.
She moved to Seminole 75 years ago from Boston Pool, near Cleveland.
She was married to Otis Oakland Anderson on Dec. 27, 1933 in Seminole.
She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church and taught the six-year old Sunday school class for 46 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Oakland Anderson on July 19, 1996; her parents; one son, James Otis Anderson in March 1995; one brother; two sisters; and one granddaughter, Cassandra Anderson.
She is survived by three sons, Glen Dale Anderson and Kenneth Dwayne Anderson, both of Seminole and Virgil Eugene Anderson of Norman; two daughters, Ivon Genell Harrison of Calvin and Carol Sue Evans of Noble; three brothers, Virgil Garrison of Katy, Texas, Jesse Garrison of Garland, Texas and Donald Garrison of Van Nuys, Calif.; one sister, Bessie Mae Presley of Branson, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Casket bearers will be Doug Harrison, Gary Anderson, Jimmie Anderson, Eric Anderson, Todd Anderson, Chris Anderson, Kenneth Anderson Jr. and Mike Anderson.
Honorary bearers will be sons-in-law and daughters-in-law.
W. Andy Anderson
Funeral services for Wewoka resident W. Andy Anderson were held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 8, at the Church of Christ in Wewoka with Johnny Hinton officiating.
Interment followed the service at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Anderson, 86, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at his home. He was born Oct. 1, 1918 in Best, Ark. to James Warren and Lorene Ada (Cooper) Anderson.
He married Edith Fitzpatrick on Jan. 9, 1942 in Wewoka.
Anderson served in the United States Army during WW II, Battery A 160th Field Artillery Battalion, 45th Division.
It was with the 45th Division that he was at the invasion of Sicily and fought all the way through Italy and into Germany.
OG&E employed him for 32 years before he retired.
His parents, one brother, Gordon Anderson and two sisters, Geneva Fore and Zella Bishop preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Edith of the home; two sons, Tim Anderson of Wewoka and Steve Anderson of Edmond; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the service were Danny Slater, Chris Hammon, Mike Findley, Joe Findley, Shane Findley and Aaron Findley.
Acting as honorary bearers were Gary Thomas, Jim Fleming, J.M. Windle, Shelby Burchette, Larry Smith, Jim Rogers, Ray Sheffield, John Creach and Jim Mitchell.
Robert Andrews
Private family services for Seminole resident, Robert Lee Andrews were held Tuesday under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
He died Monday, March 22, 2004, at the age of 45 in the Pioneer Nursing Home.
He was born July 16, 1958, in Arkansas to Walter Lee Andrews and Rose Bell (Duke) Andrews.
Andrews worked at Ball Salvage and was a Seminole resident for 12 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Rosie Lane Andrews of Arkansas; two brothers, Eli Andrews of Pink and Carol Andrews of Grady, Ark.; two sisters, Wanda Robbins of Seminole Estates Nursing Home and Louise Adams of Pergrove, Ark.
Rodney Lee Andrews
Memorial services for Wewoka High School graduate Rodney Lee Andrews are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at Grace Place Baptist Church in Oklahoma City with Rev. Robbie Robertson officiating.
Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service Center of Harrah.
Andrews died on Monday, July 5, 2004, at the age of 54, in Choctaw.
He was born June 9, 1950, in Colorado City, Texas, to Floyd and Patricia (Crunk) Andrews.
He graduated from Wewoka High School and then served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era.
He graduated from OSU Tech in 1975 with a degree in design and drafting.
He enjoyed train models, restoring cars, inventing and computers.
He was a self- employed computer programmer.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his wife; Deborah Andrews of the home; his father; Floyd Andrews of Oklahoma City; one step-daughter, Eva Karakula of League City, Texas; three brothers, Steven Andrews of Tulsa, Mickey Andrews and Frank Andrews, both of Oklahoma City; one sister, Donnita Dewey of Oklahoma City; one grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
The family request memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or volunteers at the Veterans Hospitals.
Pearl Ashbaugh
Funeral services for Seminole resident, Pearl Ashbaugh are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Seminole with Rev. Bob Hammons officiating.
Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Ashbaugh died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at the age of 94 at the Seminole Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 15, 1910, in Wagoner to Summer Clark Donaldson and Susie Victoria (Grigg) Donaldson.
She married Dean M. Ashbaugh on Oct. 30, 1926, in Cushing.
She was a homemaker and was a very active member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 60 years.
Ashbaugh was a charter member of the Hospital Auxiliary "Pink Ladies" with over 35 years and 7, 600 hours of service.
She was commended many times for her years of volunteering to the elders in the community.
She was a longtime Seminole resident.
Ashbaugh and her husband raised their daughters on the Lacy Lease in the New Lima School District.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean Ashbaugh in 1966; daughter, Nova Dean; three brothers; and two sisters.
Ashbaugh is survived by one daughter, Patsy Ruth Nichols of Moore; two brothers, Wonder Donaldson of Wyoming and Gerald Donaldson of Arizona; five grandchildren, Angie Huckleberry, Randy Dean Harrelson, Roseanne Cockriel, Karen Nichols and Debbie Boren; eight great grandchildren, Tabitha, Corban, Christopher, Andrew, Justin, Garrett, Ashley and Natalie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Association.
Nancy Ausher
Memorial services for Seminole County resident, Nancy Ausher- Nee Vanhenenryek are scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, June 3 at the Mission Baptist Church in Wewoka with Bro. Dwight Gonzales officiating.
Ausher, formerly of Fairborn, Ohio, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at her daughters home in Canute, after a short illness.
She was born in Terre Haute, Ind in 1937. and moved to Norwalk, Ohion with her parents, where she lived until she enlisted in the USAF.
Asher was a civil servent for the United States Government for 35 years at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Fairborn, Ohio.
She served four years with the United States Air Force then became a reserve with the Ohio Air National Guard.
When Ausher retired, she was given the highest civilian award given by the government.
She moved to Wewoka to enjoy her retirement.
She was a member of the Mission Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Viva Vanhentenryck; one son, Barry Maurer and Granddaughter, Leslie Anne.
Ausher is survived by three brothers, James R. Vanhentenryek, Buster Vanhentenryek, and Victor Vanhentenryek; three daughters, Brenda Gannon of Dayton, Beth Chelf of Canue and Margaret Maurer Millard of Fairborn, Ohio; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Lucille Marie Austin
Marie Austin passed away Monday, July 12, 2004.
She was born March 14, 1919 in Maud, Oklahoma to John H. and Francis J. Prewitt.
She was a graduate of Vamoosa High School, where she was an All- State basketball player.
She married her high school sweetheart, Jimmie Austin, on December 29, 1937, in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
Marie was very active in Oklahoma politics, especially within the Republican Party, and attended numerous State and National Republican Conventions.
Marie supported all areas of education with an emphasis on higher education.
The Austins endowed a Biblical Research Center and established the Jimmie and Marie Austin Scholarship Fund at Oklahoma Baptist University.
Marie served on the Board of Trustees of OBU from 1993-1997.
She was presented an honorary Doctorate of Laws in September 2002 in recognition of her achievements in business and service to others.
The Austin’s established the Jimmie and Marie Austin Scholarship Fund at Seminole State College and actively supported many other programs of the College.
In 2003, the college honored Marie by naming a new campus on street "Marie Austin Drive."
Seminole State College recognized Marie along with her husband, in 2001 as the inaugural receipts of the Founder’s Award.
Marie was a member of Eastern Star and charter member of the Seminole Hospital Auxiliary.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seminole, where she served in numerous capacities.
Marie also served on the Board of Directors of the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum of Seminole, Oklahoma.
Marie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jimmie Austin, of Seminole, and her two sons and their wives, Paul D. and Jane Austin, and Jimmie Lynn and Billye Austin, of Oklahoma City.
She is also survived by her four grandchildren and their spouses; Guy and Julia Austin of Norman; Christy and Steve Barnes of Douglas; John and Susan Austin of Norman; Mark and Jennifer Austin of Norman: seven great grandchildren: Alexandria Marie Austin and Cameron Cole Austin of Norman; Shea Lynn Barnes, Douglas Conor Elizabeth Austin, Hunter Douglas Austin, Parker Amis Austin, and Carter Reed Austin all of Norman.
She is also survived by her sister, Helen Williams of Oklahoma City; brother Paul Prewitt of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Swearington Funeral Home of Seminole is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has designated the Jimmie and Marie Austin Scholarship Fund at Oklahoma Baptist University, the Jimmie and Marie Austin Scholarship Fund at Seminole State College, and the University of Oklahoma Foundation General Scholarship Fund as appropriate for memorials.
