Funeral services for Catherine Ann (Gayler) Casey, of Shawnee are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 4 at the Chapel of Walker Funeral Services in Shawnee with Rev. Mike McCauley officiating.
Interment will take place at the Littlevine Cemetery in Paris, Texas under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
Casey died Monday, March 1, 2004, at the age of 59 in a local nursing home.
She was born Sept. 6, 1944, in Paris, Texas to George and Flora Barber.
She was a homemaker, a member of Northeast Freewill Baptist Church and an active member of Rebekah Lodge for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Casey; one son Earl Ingram Jr.; one sister, Jewell McCarter; and a brother, William Barber.
She is survived by two sons, David Gayler and wife, Michelle of Noble and Donnie Gayler of Shawnee; three brothers, Wayne Barber and wife, Mary and Vic Barber and wife, Kaye, all of Paris, Texas and Joe Barber and wife, Jodie of Royse City, Texas; one sister, Shirley Madden; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gynith Mildred Cathey
Graveside funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Gynith Mildred Cathey are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Little Cemetery.
Burial will be under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Cathey died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at Unity Health Center North in Shawnee at the age of 88.
She was born Jan. 3, 1916, in Crane, Mo., to William Brantley and Lulu (Upshaw) Rogers.
She moved to Seminole 62 years ago from Yellville, Mo.
She was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith.
She married Loyd N. Cathey on March 6, 1937, in Oklahoma City; he preceded her in death on April 2, 1978.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild.
Survivors include her son, Troy D. Cathey, Seminole; two daughters, Sue Marshall, Sand Springs, and Patsy Gower, Seminole; one brother, Leo Rogers, Harrison, Ark.; one sister, Virginia Clarkson, Bentonville, Ark.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Johnny Lee Chaffin
A special memorial for Wewoka native Johnny Chaffin will be erected in the family plot located at Oakwood Cemetery.
Johnny Lee Chaffin died on Sept. 5, 2004, at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Funeral services were held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas, on Sept. 8, where the 300-seat chapel was filled to capacity. Interment was previously held in Texas.
Chaffin was born to Claud B. (Red) and Oma Lee Chaffin in Wewoka on May 10, 1939, and attended Wewoka Public Schools until he was 16 years old, when he went to Wichita Falls, Texas, to work for his grandfather.
Upon his grandfather’s retirement Chaffin started his own cement contracting business in Plano, Texas.
His parents preceded him in death.
His wife, Shari of Plano, Texas; two daughters, Teresa Robertson of Holdenville, and Carol Patterson of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sisters, Claudine Vails of Oklahoma City, and Glenda Conley of Midwest City; and three stepchildren survive him.
Lerah D. Chambers
Funeral services for Sasakwa resident Lerah D. Chambers are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Freeman officiating.
Interment is to follow service at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Chambers, 97, died Nov. 12, 2004 in the Manor Care Nursing Home in Oklahoma City. She was born Aug. 1, 1907 in Red Bay, Ala. to Silas D. and Emily Hale White.
She married Ben F. Chambers in 1924. The couple lived and raised their family in Sasakwa where she was a homemaker. Chambers was a member of First Baptist Church, Home Demonstration Club, the Rebecca Lodge, and an active member of the Democratic Party.
Her husband and one son, Wayne Chambers preceded her in death.
Surviving her are four children, Gerald Chambers of Oklahoma City, Glen –Chambers of Lafayette, La., Velva Talley of Oklahoma City, and Benny Chambers of Ruidoso, N.M.; brother, Silas White of Oklahoma City; sister, Verna Robbins of Wewoka; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.
Eddie Chandler
Graveside services for Eddie Chandler are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka with Rev. Anthony Watts officiating.
Chandler died July 16 at Unity Health Center at the age of 81.
He was born on April 15, 1923 in Wewoka.
He was the son of Larkin Chandler and Laddie Barkus and attended Douglass High School in Wewoka.
He attended the New Beginnings Church of Shawnee.
Eddie worked as an auto body mechanic for 20 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Eddie Jr. and his brother, W.C. Watts.
He is survived by two sons, Marvin Chandler of Wilson, N.C., and Jeffrey Chandler of Fortsmouth, N.H.; and four daughters, Barbara Curry of Lawton, Tonya Chandler of New Hampshire, Eddie Mae Chandler of Seattle, Wash., and Lavonna Doakes of Norman.
Velma Chesser
Services for Seminole County resident, Velma Marie Chesser, of Wewoka will be held at 10a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel in Wewoka, with Johnny Chesser, Larry Chesser and Bill Chesser officiating.
Interment will be in Little Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka.
Chesser died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at the age of 82 at the Seminole Medical Center.
Chesser was born on October 8, 1921, in Lamar, to Willis and Mary Etta (Lamb) Wagoner.
She married Eddie Chesser on November 5, 1937, and they lived most of their lives in Wewoka.
She was a member of the House of Prayer.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie; her parents, two brothers, Eddie Von Hilton and Charlie Hilton.
She is survived by three children, Johnny Lee Chesser, Wewoka, Betty Jean Wagoner of Florida and Wanda Lee Brinsfield, Oklahoma City, six grandchildren, Roxanna, robert, Anita, Keith, Linda and Michael; eighteen grandchildren; sisters, Pearle Walker, Mt. Home, Ark., Cathy Wortman of Calvin, Coleen McCoy of Holdenville, Joyce Nickells and Rosella Tillman of Okla. City, three Brothers, Ray Hilton and Troy Wagoner of Oklahoma City, and Larry Wagoner of Kansas
Pallbearers will be Jim Orsburn, Kevin Merriman, Bill Chesser Jr., Jerry Wortman, Raymond Sharp, and John Rigdon.
Honorary bearers will be Don Brown and Charles Wortman.
Irene Chesser
Graveside services will be held for Irene Chesser at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at 1-9 p.m. on Sunday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
Chesser died Aug. 6, 2004 and was born in Lawton to Jeremiah and Mary Bentley.
She grew up in Seminole and married William Mason in 1937. Together they opened "Mason’s Fountainette" in Seminole and later "Sooner Sundries" in Oklahoma City.
Chesser lost her husband Bill in 1968 and she married George Chesser in 1973. She welcomed George’s children Kenny, Joni Sue, and Glenda in to her family. She was a member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband George, her brothers, Jelly Conner and Earl Bentley.
Survivors include her daughter, Harriet Mason of Dallas, Texas; and her son Mike Mason of Oklahoma City; sisters, Mildred Martindale and Pearl Rider, of Vancouver, Wash.; four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Janice Lou ‘Jan’ Chilcote
Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Janice Lou "Jan" Chilcote are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Long officiating.
Interment is to follow services at maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Chilcote, 52, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004 at Norman Regional Hospital. She was born March 31, 1952 in Marlow to Floyd Lee Blackwood and Lelia May (Shook) Edward.
She married Jim Chilcote on Feb. 20, 1999 in Seminole and was a caregiver. Her father, brother Floyd Lee Blackwood Jr. and niece Jenna Lea (Blackwood) Patterson all preceded her in death.
Her survivors include her mother Lelia Edward of Seminole; husband, Jim Chilcote of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Trevor Thomas and Casey of Stonewall; three daughters and sons-in-law, Natasha Williams and Kevin of Norman, Ashley Thomas and Curtis of Seminole and Bobbi Thomas and Victor of Konawa; and step-daughter, Monica Maurer and Steve Flores of Oklahoma City.
In addition, sister and brother-in-law, Betty King and Kenneth of Seminole; 12 grandchildren, Jana, Leah, Raven, Erin, Austin, Ashtin, Kaden, Kaleb, Kash, Kelby, Adeon and Zehn; one great-granddaughter, Cameron; and her dog Tino, also survive her.
The casket bearers will be Lance King, Bruce King, Kenny King, Aaron Davis, Brad Heinzig and Terry Melton. The honorary bearers are to be Curtis Thomas, Kevin Williams, Victor Davis and Ryan Louie.
Clifford Christ
Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Clifford Christ of Wewoka, will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 5 at First Baptist Church.
Internment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Reverend Parker Cross and Russell Vickers will officiate, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka. .
Christ died on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at the age of 84 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City.
He was born on Sept. 7, 1919, in Luther to Aaron and Ella Archer Christ.
He attended Cushing schools and married Willeta Lois Smith on June 15, 1941, Vesta Dennis on June 15, 1970 and Florine Stout on Nov. 7, 1984.
Clifford was a Vocational Agriculture teacher in Amber from 1942 to 1943, worked in Dale schools from 1943 to 1944, and then in Wewoka Public Schools from 1944 until retirement in 1982.
Christ was president of Oklahoma Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association from 1970 to 1971.
He also received the Honorary State FFA Degree in 1998 and was a member of the Oklahoma Vocational Association and also was a member of National Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Willeta, on Dec. 11, 1968, and his second wife, Vesta on Feb. 16, 1984 and his parents.
He is survived by his wife Florine of the home, one son, David Christ of Wewoka; one daughter, Priscilla and Gary Dutton of Seminole; and three step-daughters Sabra Todd of Wewoka, Maria Hollingsworth of Tucson, Ariz, and DeAnn Kessler of Nogal, N. M.; four grandsons, Christopher Ridenour and wife Paige of El Paso, Texas, Sean Ridenour of Edmond, Ryan Christ and wife Stacy of Konawa, and Blake Christ of Wewoka; and two great grandchildren Logan Ridenour, and Sydney Ridenour of El Paso, Texas.
