Funeral services for former longtime Seminole resident, Dorothy Louise, (Caldwell) Coble of Shawnee are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 21 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Nelson officiating.
Interment will follow at Oakhill Cemetery in McAlester under the direction of the Swearingen Funeral Home.
Coble died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at the age of 93 at Unity Health Center North in Shawnee.
She was born April 11, 1911, in McAlester to John Caldwell and Eva (Broom) Caldwell.
She was married to William Doley "Doc" Coble on Aug. 3, 1932.
He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1978.
Her family lived in Dearborn, Mich. from 1936-1948, when they returned to Seminole.
Coble was a homemaker and later became active in the family business.
She was also a real estate salesperson until she joined the Oklahoma Department of Human Services in 1963.
She retired in 1976.
For many years, she was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Seminole.
She graduated from McAlester High School in 1929 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in social sciences.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
She is survived by one son, William D. "Bill" Coble of Shawnee; one daughter, Evalois McNully and husband, James of DeQueen, Ark.; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Casket bearers will be Joseph McNulley, C. Kevin McNully, Chuck Moose, Walter F. Coble and Melvin Lynn Seebeck.
Nancy Collins
Services were held for Nancy Jane Collins, at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shawnee.
Born on March 15, 1936, in Seminole, she died February 26, 2003.
She was a registered nurse for 15 years in Arkansas, where she was held of the Oncology department.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard "Rip" Collins of Arkansas.
She is survived by three children, son Larry Sanford; daughters, DeeAnn Schroyer, Shawnee, and Judy "J.B." Sanford of Dallas, TX. Five grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren also survive her

James Phillip Collums
Graveside services for Seminole resident James Phillip "Jimmy" Collums are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Little Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Swearingen Funeral Home.
Collums died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in Seminole. He was 65.
He was born June 26, 1939, in Seminole, to Travis B. Collums and Rosa "Rose" Mae (Lucas) Collums.
Collums worked as an oilfield roustabout and was a member of the Baptist Church.
Collums was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Clayton "Jeep" Collums.
He is survived by one daughter, Becky Palmer, of Seminole; two brothers, Leroy Collums of Stidham and Clinton Collums of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and three sisters, LaVella Hackler and Sue Johnson, both of Seminole and Janet Reed of Wylie Texas.
His casket bearers will be his grandson Nathan Palmer and his nephews.
Thelma Colwell
Graveside services for Thelma Alvina Colwell, mother of Seminole residents, Gilbert Ross Sr. were scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 9 at the Little Cemetery, north of Seminole, with Terry Newell officiating.
Interment was also at the Little Cemetery under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee.
She died Friday, March 5, 2004, at the age of 68 at her home in Shawnee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin J. Colwell; two sons, Tommy Ross and Johnny Ross; one grandson, Greg Mehagan Jr.; one brother, Ray Hart; and one sister, Faye Lynn.
She is survived by one son, Gilbert Ross Sr. of Seminole; two daughters, Darla Kearney of Denton, Texas and Thelma Cain of the home; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Dorothy Compton
Memorial services for former Seminole resident Dorothy Compton, 75, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in McAlester.
The services will be under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service and officiated by Wendell Marley.
Compton died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at a McAlester nursing home.
She was born May 6, 1929, in Seminole to Homer and Margaret (Cooper) Compton.
She was a Seminole High School graduated and attended East Central State College in Ada.
She received a bachelor’s degree in arts and education.
Her education was completed at the University of Oklahoma, where she obtained a master’s degree in education, the first person in both the Cooper and Compton families to graduate from college.
She was a teacher and obtained many certificates and awards in her career, including "Teacher of the Year" for the state of Oklahoma.
She enjoyed playing golf, fishing, playing tennis and bowling.
Compton was an accomplished college debater, who had won many awards and trophies.
She was also a beauty pageant winner.
She moved to McAlester in the later ‘70s and was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Betty Pippin; and one brother, Jack Compton.
Survivors include her brother, Joe Compton, Seminole.
Willie ‘Bill’ Condict
Graveside funeral services for Cromwell-Okemah area resident Willie Everett "Bill" Condict were held Monday morning at Schoolton Cemetery.
Brother Charles Jones officiate; burial was under the direction of Schumacher Funeral Home, Okemah.
Condict, 73, died Saturday, July 10, 2003, in Seminole.
He was born Dec. 2, 1930, in Kendrick to Willie and Bertha Condict.
He lived in the Okemah area most all his life and worked for many years at Perryman Sand Company as a pumper. He was also a farmer.
He served in the U.S. Army and spent time in Germany.
He is survived by one son, Chuck Condict, Shawnee; two brothers, Ray Condict, Okemah, and Wendell Condict; six sisters, Ella Starr and Lola McElroy, both of Okemah, Norma Barnes and Linda Groves, both of Cromwell, Rose Head, Moore, and Wilma Scott, Pell City, Ala.; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carl and Marvin Condict.
Jamie Floyd Conger
Services for Jamie Floyd Conger, son of Wewoka resident Floyd Conger, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Services are being handled by the Swearingen Funeral Home.
Conger died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004 at McAlester Hospital. He was 29.
Conger was born in Wewoka on Feb. 15, 1975 to Floyd Conger and Juanita (Myers) Conger.
Conger worked as a mason, in McAlester.
His mother, four grandparents, and one sister preceded him in death.
Conger is survived by his father Floyd, of Wewoka; three sons, Jace and Tyler Conger of New Lima and Riley Conger of McAlester; two daughters, Macie and Ashley Willis of McAlester; two brothers, Scotty Conger of Ada and Randy Dougan of Shawnee; two sisters, Amy Dye and Lori Osborne of Shawnee; and his wife, Tina Conger of the home.
Memorial donations may be made to Swearingen Funeral Home to assist the family.
Sally ‘Ilene’ Conner
Funeral services for Sally "Ilene" Conner are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
Pastor Quinton Kay will officiate, with burial following in Vista Cemetery.
Conner died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at the Tuttle Care Center in Tuttle at the age of 91.
She was born July 26, 1912, in Tennessee, to Will and Sally Dunn.
She was a longtime Konawa resident before moving to Tuttle.
She was a nurse for several years and was a member of the Konawa Free Will Baptist Church.
She married Arvel "Pete" Conner on July 4, 1934 in Manitou; the couple just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her husband, of the home; several grandchildren, including Michael Conner of Tuttle and Donald Conner of Georgia; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donald Conner; two daughters, Linda Kennedy and Wanda Conner; two brothers and two sisters.
