Funeral services for Seminole resident, Raymond Lexas Guthrie have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Cline officiating.
Interment will follow at the Little Cemetery, north of Seminole, under the direction of the Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Guthrie died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at the age of 82 at the Seminole Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Wynona, to Herschel Leroy Guthrie and Gertrude (Atchison) Guthrie.
He married Esther Mae (Pate) Guthrie on March 2, 1946, in Reno, Nev. and moved to Seminole 58 years ago, from California.
He worked in the oilfield all his life and retired from Sinclair.
He was a consultant for Viking Petro and had is own oil production company for the remainder of his career.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1940-1945 and served in World War II as staff sergeant.
He received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge where he was a 32-Degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Guthrie of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Genny Guthrie and David and Gloria Guthrie, all of Seminole and Johnny and Ann Yandell of Edmond; nine grandchildren, Bryan Guthrie and wife, Paulette, Kelly Guthrie, Amber Guthrie, Shawna Salinas, Lisa Hayden, Linda Ault, Kim Parham, Jaimee Ross and Beth Oliver; 21 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Casketbearers will be A.B. Harvey, Bob Webster, Doyle Johnson, Bob Patterson, Glen Siler and Joe Sharber.
Honorary bearers are Win Tinsley, Phillip Parks, George Higdon, Doyle Nix and Bob Williams.
Bill Guymon
A memorial services for longtime resident, Bill Guymon are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Church of Christ of Seminole.
Christ Stinnett and Ron Fletcher of Norman will officiate.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Guymon died at 5:10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at the age of 88 at the Parsons Presbyterian Manor due to failing health.
He was born July 15, 1915, in Oliver Springs, Tenn. to Phil and Lula (Giles) Davis and was adopted by the Guymon family at the age of nine.
He was raised in McAlester and after high school, he attended the University of Arkansas and graduated from Freed Hardeman Seminary at Henderson, Tenn.
Guymon then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed stateside during World War II.
He was a member of the Duncan Lions Club, while living in Duncan.
After being discharged in 1945, he became a Church of Christ minister and pastored at churches in Seminole, Healdton, Duncan, Sapulpa, Randlett, as well as Texas, California, and Missouri.
Bill Guymon and Martha Akers Knowles were united in marriage on May 9, 1938 in Wellington, Kan.
After retiring, he and his wife settled in Seminole.
She survives him at the Parsons Presbyterian Manor in Parsons, Kan.
In addition to his wife, Martha, he is also survived by two sons, Lance Guymon of Parsons, Kan. and J. Carl Guymon of Broken Arrow; two daughters, Shirley Branson of Meade, Kan. and Sharon George of Hemet, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one sister, Virgie Lane of Iowa Park, Texas.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Donations may be made to the Church of Christ in Seminole, the American Cancer Society or Maud Carpenters Children’s Home in Wichita, Kan.
Donations may be taken to the Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole to be sent to the proper locations.
John Hager
Funeral services for Seminole County native, John Mathew Hager are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7 in the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Oklahoma City.
Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Hager died Jan.3, 2004, at the age of 70.
He was born July 1, 1933, in Wewoka.
He moved to California where he met and married the love of his life, Barbara, on June 17, 1952, in Las Vegas, Nev.
He loved to joke and make people laugh, even if he didn’t know them.
Everyone who knew him would say he was a motivator who had a huge loving and giving heart.
His strength and determination will always inspire all who knew him.
He will never be forgotten and will truly be missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Marie Duncan and one brother, Tommy Hager Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; one son, James Hager; one daughter, Debra Cobb; one sister; three brothers; and four grandchildren.
Bobby Hale
Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident, Bobby Jack Hale are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Hale died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at the age of 67 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.
He was born Feb. 16, 1937 in Wewoka to James Luther Hale and Janie Lou (Hayes) Hale.
He was self-employed as the owner of Bobby Hale Trucking, hauling feed and cattle.
He retired five years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ruby Burton, Thelma Cox and Idella Gaines; and three brothers, Lonnie, Marvin and Eugene Hale.
He is survived by two brothers, James R. "J.R." Hale of Seminole and Willie B. Hale of Sallisaw; and one sister, Mary McMullin of Wewoka.
Mable Hall
Funeral services for former longtime Seminole resident, Mable Evelyn (Biehl) Hall are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, May 28 at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert Cocke officiating.
Interment will follow at the Little Cemetery under the direction of the Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Hall died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at the age of 89 at Midwest City Regional Hospital in Midwest City.
She was born Sept 14, 1914, in Whipple Ohio to Herman E. Bihl and Nettie C. Biehl.
She married Vernon Hall, who preceded her in death July 27, 1970.
Hall was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Methodist Church in Seminole where she helped in the day care center for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, one sister and one step-son.
She is survived by two sons, Ronny Blackbird of Del City and Lyle Hall of Littleton, Colo.; one step son, Paul Hall of Texas; two sisters, Jean Hudiburg of Oklahoma City and Bonita Biehl of Midwest City; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Robert Benjamin Hall
Services for former Seminole resident Robert Benjamin Hall are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland, Don Amon officiating.
Bob passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at his home in Cushing at the age of 78 years, one month and 28 days old.
He was born Sept. 30, 1926 in Cleveland. He was the son of Leonard Ethan and Edith (Billie) Hall.
Bob was raised and attended school in Cleveland where he graduated from high school in 1944.
During the summers while attending high school, Bob worked for his uncle in the wheat fields of Kansas.
Shortly after graduation from high school, Bob entered into the service of his country in the United States Army Air Corp on Feb. 11, 1944.
He served honorably during WWII, receiving his discharge on Sept. 30, 1946, and then returned to Cleveland.
After working in Tulsa for a short time, Bob accepted employment with the Johnson Oil Company at the local refinery in the pipeline division.
When the company sold in 1956, Bob began a long career with Kerr-McGee Corporation.
He was initially hired as foreman for the pipeline division in Cleveland.
Bob was married to Shirley Ruth Morris on June 9, 1956, in Tulsa. The couple made their initial home in Cleveland until 1959 when Bob was transferred to Seminole as foreman of the pipeline division there.
They remained in Seminole until 1962, when Bob was again transferred, this time to Sapulpa.
After a few years in Sapulpa, Bob was promoted in 1967 to district superintendent for Kerr McGee’s Wynnewood operational area.
In 1976, the couple moved to Cushing when Bob was named district superintendent for the Drumright division.
He continued in that capacity until his retirement in 1991, after 35 years with the company.
Bob’s devotion to his job and employer was evident in his desire to have everything in his control operating efficiently and effectively.
Although his work was truly his life, Bob still found time to enjoy his passion for hunting and fishing.
He applied annually for a permit in Wyoming for big game hunts.
In 1992, Bob shot a trophy elk in the Wichita Mountains of Oklahoma and seemed satisfied with retiring from hunting at that time.
He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed taking his family and their friends on vacation.
He also liked attending family reunions and reminiscing with his sisters and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jerry Ray Hall, Richard (Dickey) Hall and Alvin Thomas Hall; and a daughter, Anita Sue Hall Harber.
Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley Ruth Hall, of the home; one daughter and her husband, Melissa and Don Amon of Cushing; step-grandchildren, Zach and Zane Amon of Cushing; five sisters, Anna May Brown of Cleveland, Joy Underwood of Tulsa, Martha Strand of Casper, Wyo., Marie Keeling of Cleveland and Nancy DeLay or Wichita, Kan.
