Ronald Johnson

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Ronald Curtis Johnson, 53, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Harjo family cemetery.

A wake service is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Johnson died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Seminole Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 4, 1950, in Wewoka to Raymond and Mary (Green) Johnson.

He served in the National Guard for 17 years, where he was a sergeant major.

He was a member of Cold Springs Baptist Church and chairman of the Tallahassee Band of the Seminole Nation.

Johnson was active in other tribal affairs, serving as a member of the referendum committee.

Survivors include three sons, Brandon and Nolan Johnson, both of Seminole, and Russell Johnson, McAlester; two daughters, Ronnessa and Naomi Johnson, both of Seminole; two sisters, Samaria Harjo, Seminole, and Judy Little, Wewoka; and one grandson.

Ruby Louis Johnson

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Louise Johnson, 73, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Rev. Doyle Gadberry will officiate, with Rev. Ray Bevelhymer and Rev. Harrell Rodebush assisting.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Mrs. Johnson was born May 2, 1931, to Tom and Mary Bess Rinkle, in Yeager, and passed away on September 19, 2004.

She graduated from Yeager High School.

She married Gurdon Johnson on Oct. 18, 1952, in Holdenville.

Together they owned and operated Johnson’s General Store, south of Wewoka, for over 40 years.

She was a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church for almost 50 years.

Her parents, one brother, Jimmy Rinkle, and two sisters, Ada Lee Hones and Lillian Vannoy, precede her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Gurdon, of the home, one son, Dewayne Johnson and wife Karen; three daughters, Saundra Morris and husband, Tom, Donna Abercrombie and husband, Don and Mary Sanderson and husband, Ray, all of Wewoka; seven grandchildren, Jason Morris, Scott Johnson, Stefanie Johnson, Nathan Abercrombie, Bethanie Crawford, Ethan Davis, Rachel Sanderson; four great-grandchildren, Lora, Jacob and Abagail Morris and Tyler Crawford; one sister, Jean Black and one brother Charles Rinkle, both of Oklahoma City.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Donnie Rinkle, Bruce Black, Ray Hisaw, Danny Johnson, Terry Johnson, and Paul Rodebush.

Honorary bearers will be Ray Cresap, Don Posey, James Caudill, Roy Bullock, Leroy Sanderson, Tommy Vannoy, Mike Vannoy, James P. Jones, and Davis Johnson.

Sharon Lynn Dye Johnson

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Sharon Lynn Dye Johnson, 66, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Seminole.

Visitation is scheduled at Swearingen Funeral Home from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Sharon Lynn Dye Johnson, a loving wife and mother, died Sept. 28, 2004 in Tomball, Texas. Sharon was the source of love and understanding in the family and their need for her will never end.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Gene Dye and Esta Bertrell Douglas Dye; brother, Earl Douglas Campbell; and daughter, Theresa Nell Wearden.

Sharon will be greatly missed by her husband of 49 years, and best friend, Jack Dempsey Johnson; son Stephen Alan Johnson and wife Kareen; two daughters, Diana Lynn Giordenella, expecting April 2005, and husband Leo, Tamara Dawn Ross and husband Gary; sisters, Charlotte Garrison and husband Bruce, and Rogene Holtz and husband Lloyd; four grandchildren, Jacquelyn Paige Smith, Rebecca Leigh Tranmer, Shannon Michelle and Kristopher Stephen Johnson; two step grandchildren, Christopher Allen and Michael James Ross; two great grandchildren, Shaianne Nicole Johnson and Zane Allen Smith.

Ada Jones

Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Ada "Lee" Jones of Maud are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 15 at the First Baptist Church of Maud with Rev. Carl Whitfield and Connie Ramsey officiating.

Interment will follow at the Cummings Cemetery under the direction of the Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.

Jones died Monday, April 12, 2004, at the age of 75 at Sunset Estates of Maud.

She was born Jan. 4, 1929, in Holdenville to Charles "Tom" Rinkle and Bess (Shamburger) Rinkle.

She married James H. "Jim" Jones on Jan. 25, 1949, in Holdenville.

She retired from Big Yank 20 years ago, as a payroll clerk.

She was secretary to the superintendent at Holdenville and Nowata Schools.

She was a resident of Maud for 25 years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maud, WMU, Women’s Class #2 at First Baptist Church of Maud, Maud Chamber of Commerce and Historical Society.

She also volunteered at the nursing home as a mentor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jimmy Rinkle; and one sister, Lillian Vannoy

She is survived by her husband, James H. Jones of the home; one son, James P. "J.J." Jones of Maud; one brother, Charles Rinkle of Oklahoma City; and two sisters, Jean Black of Oklahoma City and Ruby Johnson of Wewoka.

Casket bearers will be Don Peters, James Zeller, Bill Washburn, J.D. Harris, Alfred Treat and Bill Robinson.

The casket will be open for viewing until service time but will not be opened after the service.

Earl Jones

Graveside services for former Seminole County resident, Earl Wayne Jones of Holdenville were held at 10 am, Friday, June 4 at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Pastor Fred Owens officiated with special music by Randall Streetman.

Interment is under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Earl died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, in Holdenville at the age of 54.

He was born July 10, 1949, in Holdenville to C.M. Jones Jr. and Maxine Keefer Jones.

He was raised in Sasakwa and graduated from Sasakwa High School in 1967.

After high school, he served a four-year term in the U.S. Navy.

He was an oilfield consultant and was employed by Basin Engineering.

His father and one brother, Marion M. Jones preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Marie (Bane) Jones, of the home; children, Mike Jones of Tecumseh, Christy Smith of Oklahoma City, Geneva Williams of Mustang; step-children, Robert Boyd and Lisa Maxey of Holdenville, Darrell Boyd of Holdenville; his mother, Maxine Jones of Holdenville; brothers: Jack Jones of Okmulgee, Paul Jones of Sasakwa; sisters, Joyce Harris of Holdenville, Glenda Emerson of Blackwell, Linda Davis of Irving, Texas, Donna Morrell of Inola, Vicky Byerly of Inola, and his step-mother, Norma Jones of Blackwell.

Other survivors include numerous relatives and many friends.

Honorary pallbearers were Quinton Womack, Keith Byerly, Dale Welch, Ozell Jones, Buddy Ray Womack, Danny Joslin, and "Big" Mike Jones.

Larry Junior Jones

WEWOKA -- Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Larry Jones will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Rev. Glen Pence will officiate. Burial will follow in Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Stouts-Phillips Funeral Home.

Jones died Friday, July 23, 2004, in Holdenville.

He was born on July 13, 1948 to Oda and Lillian (Wilson) Jones.

He attended Wewoka High School and Olmulgee Tech.

Jones participated in singing, writing music, fishing, and billiards.

Jones is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Tristan Jones; and brother, James Jones.

Survivors include four children, Teresa Lyon and Tony Jones of Tulsa, Trista Jones of Stratford and Tristina Jones Rupp of San Diego, Ca; four sisters, Jo Ann Newton of Norman, Ruby Bevelhymer and Jerretta Cook, both of Wewoka, and Gwendylyn Graham of Holdenville; three brothers, Randy Jones of Wewoka, Paul Jones of Holdenville, and Buford Lee Jones of Chesapeake, VA.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Newton, Tony Bevelhymer, Oda Jones, Billie Turner, Jeremy Graham, and Chase Whitebird.

Naomi Jones

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Naomi Ruth Jones, of Norman are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, June 12 at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Wewoka with Rev. Earlis Bert officiating.

Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Wewoka.

Jones died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, in Norman.

She was born to Caldwell and Captiolar Pennington and raised in Wewoka.

Jones was an alumnus of the University of Oklahoma.

She earned her Bachelors Degree in Nursing and her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education to compliment her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree received from Byng Licensed Practical Nursing School.

As a lifelong health educator, she gained her degrees while employed at Wewoka Memorial Hospital, Norman Regional Hospital, Central State Hospital, and Mid-America Area Vocational Technical School.

She began her Moore-Norman Technology Center career 24 years ago as an instructor.

Jones advanced to become the Coordinator of the LPN Program and the Assistant Director of the Health Careers, where she remained until her death.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Lee L. Pennington and one sister, Joe Mae Williams.

She is survived by three sons, Kent Maurice Jones of Norman, Kirk Alan Jones of Seattle, Wash. and William Henderson Jones II of Alexandria, Va.; one brother, Carl C. Pennington of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Margie Pennington of Wewoka, Gwendolyn Morris of Oklahoma City and Stella Rhine of Omaha, Neb.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rev. Lizzie Jones

Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Rev. Lizzie Mae (Ripley) Jones, Konawa, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23 at the Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Ellis Gregg and Bob Teel officiating.

Interment will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

Jones died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at the age of 74 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Seminole to Bunnie Ripley and Rebetha (Cruce) Ripley.

She married James Cleo "Wolfe" Jones on July 31, 1945, in Reno, Nev.

Jones was an ordained minister with the Rose Assembly.

She served as a Pastor as well as an evangelist.

She attended the Pentecostal Church in Konawa at the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Ashley Kaye Jones; one brother, Guy Ripley; and two sisters, Francis Smith and Jeannie Mace.

She is survived by two sons, Carroll David Jones of Ft. Gibson and Jerry Ray Jones of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Vonda Kaye (Jones) Rodriguez of Greenville, N.C.; one sister, Bessie Franklin of Pampa, Texas; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
