Funeral services for Seminole County native William Henderson Jones, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Baptist Church.
Rev. E.G. Bert will officiate the services.
Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka, under the direction of Myers Mortuary.
Jones died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004 in Bakersfield, Calif.
He was born to the late Dave Henderson and Mildred Jones on March 13, 1939 in Wewoka.
Jones, better known as "W.H." graduated from Wewoka Douglass High School in 1957 and was class valedictorian.
He was selected by the late U.S. House Representative Carl Albert, for the U.S. Air force Academy.
Jones graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1974 with a degree in business administration.
He served in three different branches of the armed services: the Air Force, Navy and Army Reserve.
Jones worked at the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center at Tinker Air Force Base and retired after 34 years of service.
He was a member of the St. Paul Baptist Church, and his hobbies included golf, football and cooking for his friends.
Jones was married to and his survived by Naomi Ruth Pennington, Norman.
He is also survived by three sons, Kent Maurice Jones, Norman, Kirk Alan Jones, Seattle, Wash., and Williams Henderson Jones, Alexandria, Va.; four sisters, Barbara Maddox, Tommie Lou Davis, Marguerie Jones, all of Bakersfield, Calif. and Ida Lewis, Detroit, Mich.
Dave J. Jordan
Graveside services for former Maud mayor, Dave J. Jordan was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Cummings Cemetery with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Jordan, 80, died Nov. 6, 2004 at Unity Health Center North in Shawnee. He was born in Maud on June 25, 1924 to Walter and Arrie (Guinn) Jordan.
He married Alice Palmer on Nov. 3, 1942 in Konawa. Jordan was a lifelong Pottawatomie county resident. He retired in 2003 as a construction manager.
Jordan served as Maud mayor from 1977 to 1987 and he served in the United States Army. He was also a member of Odd Fellows.
His parents, son Jimmy Jordan, daughter Julie Jordan and sister Elen Hudleson preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of the home; son John Parrish of Maud; five grandchildren; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Dakota Russell Joshua
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Dakota Russell Joshua, 9, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment is to follow service at the Harjo-Coody Family Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Joshua died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 near Bowlegs in an auto accident. He was born Nov. 28, 1995 in Ada to Leslie Joshua of McLoud and attended 3rd grade at Justice School.
His mother; grandmother, Jessica Coody of Wewoka; grandfather, Randall Joshua of Tulsa and two sisters, Shantel Burden and Lakota Joshua both of Wewoka survive him.
Wake services are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Kelly Kean
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole County resident Kelly Leon Kean are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wade Robertson officiating.
Interment will follow at the Little Cemetery, north of Seminole under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Kean died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at the age of 32 in Seminole County due to an automobile accident.
He was born Dec. 25, 1971, in Seminole to Albert Leon "Lonnie" Kean and Kimberly Ann (Decker) Kean.
He married Jamie Lynn Walker on May 22, 1993 in Seminole.
He worked in the oilfield and formerly worked at Aqua Farms in Holdenville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jamie Lynn (Walker) Kean on Oct. 15, 2003.
He is survived by his parents, Lonnie and Kim Kean; one son, Leon Forest Kean; two daughters, Cora Ann Kean and Rannie Lynn Kean; and one brother, Kyle Kean, all of Seminole.
Casketbearers will be Ryan Lehman, Randy Lehman, Scotty Decker, Cody Jones, David Moore, Lee Snow and Billy Bruce.
Claude Kedy
Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Claude A Kedy, of Wewoka, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 6 at the First Baptist Church in Wewoka.
Internment will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Hartshorne with Rev. Jim Standridge and Gerald Hill officiating, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Claude A. Kedy, 74, of Wewoka, died on Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at Valley View Hospital in Ada.
He was born on Aug. 9, 1929, in Hartshorne, Oklahoma, to Claude and Mabel Hunter.
He attended Hartshorne schools, and East Central University where he received his Masters Degree in Education.
Claude married Mary Lou Drizness on Jan. 11, 1953.
Claude was a retired teacher and basketball coach.
He taught in Coalgate for 2 years, Wewoka for 17 years and was an administrator for 12 years. Claude was elected to the Oklahoma Coaches Association Hall of Fame 1981 and Claude was all State Basketball Coach in 1960.
He was a past president of Wewoka Country Club and a member of Wewoka Golf Association.
Claude was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He served in the Strategic Air Command and received honorable discharge.
Claude is proceeded in death by his parents Claude A. Kedy and Mabel Teague, and one sister, Bette Rouse.
Survivors include Mary Lou Kedy of the home; two sons, Mark Kedy of Ada, and David Kedy of Bartlesville; four grandchildren, Scott Kedy, Lindsay Kedy, Kevin Kedy, and Dacus Doornbos.
Pallbearers will be Randy Brooks, Jim Lawson, Ed Miller, Gene Stephens, Mike Hamner, John Bolt, Patrick Bolt
Honorary Pallbearers will be all former players and fellow coaches
Joel Nelson Keesee
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Joel Nelson Keesee are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Church of Christ. David Gibson is set to officiate with Johnny Hinton assisting.
Interment will take place at the Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Keesee died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, in Commerce, Texas. He was 95.
Born to Monte Allen and Lillie Keeling Keesee June 9, 1909, in Butner, he grew up in the Seminole County area and attended Butner High School, then Chillicothe Business School in Missouri.
Keesee married Ruby Sample on Sept. 8, 1940, and they had two children together.
He entered the Army in 1942 and served during WWII, leaving the Army in 1945.
Keesee retired as a banker and chairman of the board at the Security State Bank in 2002 and has been past president of the Wewoka Chamber of Commerce and served as treasurer of local Camp Fire board and very active with Sorghum Day activities form many years.
Keesee was a longtime member of the Wewoka Church of Christ serving as a deacon, elder and a Sunday school teacher.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ruby Keesee in 2003; his parents; three sisters, Cecile Rives, Alma Sanders, and Chloe Gorom; and four brothers, Guy, Paul, Kenneth and Perry Keesee.
Keesee is survived by a daughter, Sara Gibson of Commerce, Texas; and a son, Carl Keesee of Austin, Texas.
Pallbearers include Eddie Neil, David O’Donnell, Andy Gibson, Monte Gibson, Ken Groves and David Chance.
Chessie Kelley
Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Chessie Kelley of Holdenville, are to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Hudson-Phillips Chapel with Reverend Phillip Mullins officiating.
Interment will follow the services at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
Kelley died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at the age of 98 in the Heritage Village Nursing Center.
She was born Oct. 12, 1905, in Bellville, Ark. to Luther S. Jones and America Lue Benefield.
She was raised in Arkansas, coming to Oklahoma at the age of 17.
Kelley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wewoka.
She married Claude Kelley in 1925, who worked the wheat harvest while she cooked for the workers at the chuck wagon.
They operated a service station in Wewoka for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude on Oct. 17, 1997, after 72 years of marriage and ten brothers, : Sylvester, Buford, George, Johnny, Ben, Oda, Olen, Tommy, Woodrow, and Homer Jones.
When they weren’t working the couple enjoyed dancing and attending Bob Wills dances.
Together they enjoyed riding horses and were long time members of the Wewoka Round-Up Club.
They also traveled all over the area to attend Gospel singings.
One sister, Hester Gardiner, of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada as well as other family and friends survive her.
John Austin Kelley, Jr.
Funeral services for former Seminole graduate John Austin Kelley, Jr. are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the Rose Hill Abbey Mausoleum in Tulsa with Rev. Warren Daniel Haase officiating.
The services will be under the direction of Ninde Funeral Directors Woodland Chapel in Tulsa.
Kelley died on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004 at the Washington Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born June 26, 1920 to John Austin and Minta Jane (Mills) Kelley in Forney, Texas.
He married Stella Griffin on Nov. 5, 1985 in Fayetteville, Ark. and worked as an electrical engineer for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 35 years.
His survivors include his wife of the home; daughter Patricia Crowl of Garden Plain, Kan.; son John Edward Kelley of Kansas; sisters, Irene Lockhart of Tulsa, Alice Tregea of Placerville, Calif. and Lela Bennett of Peoria, Ariz.; brothers, David Kelley of Seminole and Albert Kelley of Sun Lake, Ariz.; and several grandchildren.
