Funeral services for Seminole resident, Delphia Orlena "Jean" Maines is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Mack Peercy officiating.
Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Maines died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at the age of 82 at her home in Seminole.
She was born Jan. 14, 1922, in Mountain Home, Ark. to William Lee Webber and Annie (Tripp) Webber.
She married A.C. Maines on Oct. 8, 1965 in Seminole.
She moved to Seminole in 1976 from Earlimart, Calif.
She was a beauty operator, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Tecumseh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, William Webber on June 30, 2003.
She is survived by four sons, Bill Howard of Elko, Nev., Mike Howard of Tyler, Texas, Jerry Maines of Lancaster, Calif. and Dan Maines of Phenix City, Ala.; two daughters, Barbara Thomas of Farmington, N.M. and Katy Shephard of Pixley, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Marianna Mainord
A funeral service for Marianna Mainord, age 65, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 5 at the Central Assembly of God Church, with Revs. Randy Coleman and Dan Barrick officiating.
Ingerment will be at 3p.m. in Little Cemetery, north of Seminole, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
She was born to Herbert and Elma (Harris) Friggle on Aug. 24, 1938, in Seminole, and died Sunday, February 29, 2004, in St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid.
She grew up outside Seminole, graduating from Bowlegs High School.
On Jan. 11, 1957, she married Gilbert Mainord in Seminole, where they made their home.
They moved to Woodward in 1962, and then to Enid in 1968.
She was a member of Central Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her husband, Gilbert of the home; two sons, Kevin Mainord of Enid, and Ron Mainord of Fairview; two daughters, Amy Morgan of Edmond, and Leigh Arnold of Edmond; five grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Friggle of Henderson, Nev., Lloyd Friggle of Springfield, Mo., and Jerry Friggle of Manteca, Calif. one half-sister, Janita King of Oklahoma City; and one half-brother Billy Friggle of Dallas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation – Diabetes Division.
Opal Malloy
Graveside services for former Seminole resident, Opal May Malloy are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 19 at the Pawhuska Cemetery in Pawhuska.
Services are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
Malloy died Sunday, May 16, 2004, at the age of 96 in Midwest City.
She was born Sept. 17, 1907, in Sapulpa.
She married A.F. "Pat" Malloy on Feb. 12, 1921, in Pawhuska.
They made their home in Seminole until 1973, when they moved to Prague.
She was a member of the Prague Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.F. "Pat" Malloy on Aug. 15, 1977; one son, A.C. Malloy and three sisters.
She is survived by one son, Bill Malloy of Del City, four grandchildren, six great grand children and two great-great grandchildren.
Beatrice Grace (Perkins) Spencer Marsh
Graveside services will be held for Beatrice Grace Spencer Marsh, 85, at 10:30 a.m. in the Resthaven Memorial Park of Shawnee on Wednesday. Rev. Russell Vicars will be officiating.
Marsh was born on Nov. 23, 1918 in Merkel, Texas to Wiley Earl and Rachel Elizabeth (Hellums) Perkins. She died in Seminole on Aug. 2, 2004 and was of the Baptist faith.
She worked as the Jefferson School cafeteria manager in Shawnee, as well working at the State School in Abilene, Texas. During her life she also worked as a manager of a storage unit in California.
Survivors to Marsh are her two sons, Larry Joe Spencer and wife Carolyn of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Ronny Lee and wife Kathy Spencer of Sand Springs: two daughters, Lynda Joyce and Ron Tate of Seattle, Wash., and Judi Ann and husband Jimmy Hallum of Seminole.
Additional survivors include; four sisters, Julia Jeffrey of Sweetwater, Texas, Fran Benz of Hewitt, Texas, Betty and husband Jim Roberts of Proctor, Texas, and Margaret Hart of Sweetwater, Texas; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews.
Her parents and two sons, Roy Dale Spencer and Bobby Wayne Spencer preceded her in death.
Honorary casket bearers will be Tracy Peltier, Jason Tate, Spencer Tate, Nic Spencer, Dale Spencer, Curtis Spencer, Michael Spencer, and John Spencer.
Lenora Martin
Graveside services for Lenora Lucille (Bartlett) Martin, 63, Wewoka, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 7 at Little Cemetery, with Rev. Bill Chesser officiating, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Martin was born April 18, 1941, in Hagerman, Calif., to Thurston Eli and Salina Mae (Wheeler) Bartlett. She was a member of the Nazarene Church of Konawa.
She spent her life as a homemaker and mother to her children.
Martin died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Jennifer Martin; four brothers, Jimmy, Jr., Charles Edward, and Johnny Robert Bartlett; and two sisters, Geneva Bartlett and Margaret Bartlett.
She is survived by her three sons, William (Bill) Martin, Roy Martin and Bruce Martin, all of Wewoka; two brothers, Damon Bartlett, Paoli, and Lawrence Bartlett of Springdale, Ark.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Harold Mashburn Jr.
A memorial service for former Seminole resident Maj. Gen. Harold Mashburn, Jr. was held Dec. 2nd at the United States Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis, Md.
He was interred with full military honors on Dec. 7 at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
Major General Harold Mashburn, Jr., 57, of the United States Marine Corps succumbed to cancer on Nov. 20, 2004 at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. only hours after giving up his last command, which was Commanding General, Marine Corps Logistics Command in Albany, Ga.
Mashburn was born on Nov. 14, 1947 in Seminole. Both he and his wife, Susan, were 1966 graduates of Seminole High School.
The General was loved by his lady of nearly 35 years of marriage. Susan Stebbins of Seminole, is the daughter of the late Dr. Ted Stebbins and Billie Stebbins.
He received a bachelor’s degree from the United States Naval Academy and a master’s degree in engineering in engineering management from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
Mashburn was a graduate of several military schools including the Industrial College of the Armed Forces aboard Fort McNair.
Serving in many operating force assignments, he was Commanding Officer of the 8th Engineer Support Battalion, part of the 2d Force Service Support Group, as well as Commanding Officer of Combat Service Support Group.
He was Commanding General of 2d Force Service Support Group as well as Commanding General of Marine Corps Logistics Command, his recent position.
Mashburn served in positions which included Director of Logistics, J4, United States Forces Japan and he was honored to serve as Commandant of the prestigious Industrial College of the Armed Forces in Washington, D.C.
The Distinguished Service Medal presented to him recently was one of his personal decorations which also included the Defense Superior Service Medal with two oak leak clusters, the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, sand the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
He is survived by his daughter, Alicia Marie VanderVat of Ellicott City, Md. and her husband Michael, who blessed him with two of his greatest joys, his grandchildren, Jacob Michael, 6, and Christopher Andrew, 3.
He is also survived by his son, Cory Aron Mashburn of Rindge, N.H. and his fiancée, Lisa Metzger, and by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Mashburn of Perryton, Texas.
In attendance at the funeral services was the Commandant and Assistant Commandant of the United States Marine Corps as well as the Surgeon General of the Navy.
Paula Mae Mason
Funeral services for Paula Mae Mason, daughter of former Seminole County businessman Wilburn Mason, are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the First Baptist Church in Holdenville, under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
Rev. James "Slim" Crabtree will officiate, and interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery.
Mason died at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at the age of 49.
She was born July 21, 1955, in Holdenville, to Wilburn Mason and Rechinta Youmans.
She was brought up in Holdenville, and attended schools there.
Mason lived most of her adult life in Oklahoma City, and partook of hobbies such as drawing, painting and singing.
She was preceded in death by her father on Dec. 23, 2003, and by her stepfather, Gene Youmans, on Nov. 8, 2002.
Mason is survived by her mother of Shawnee; her sons, Shane Rhea of Oklahoma City and James Parker of Moore; her daughter, Crystal Parker of Oklahoma City; six sisters: Brenda Cates, Atwood, Judy Shed, Shawnee, Linda Ogle, McLoud, Wanda Hodde, Shawnee, Sharon Shurley, Holdenville, and Lisa Lee, Stillwater; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers are John Foster, Jacob Foster, Jeremy Shed, Jamason Shed, Joey Shurley, Derek Lee, Brandon Lee, Shawn Ogle, and Connor Hodde. Honorary bearers are Jim Cates, Kent Hodde and Danny Lee.
Rachel Lynn Mason
Funeral services for Rachel Lynn Mason are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
Dr. Gus Shi will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Mason died July 22, 2004, at her home in Seminole at the age of 21.
She was born Feb. 23, 1983, in Shawnee, to Earl Lynn and Twila (Smith) Mason.
She graduated from Seminole High School in 2001 and attended Northern State University at Tahlequah and Seminole State College.
She was very active in the debate program at Seminole High School, while at the same time attended classes at SSC.
She took first place in almost every debate tournament she entered.
She earned the Award of Excellence in speech both her junior and senior years, as well as the prestigious H.B. Mitchell award.
She played in the high school band and was a frequent trumpet soloist at football games.
She was selected for Oklahoma Girls State, where she was elected president pro tem of the Senate.
During her senior year of high school, she served as a page in the Oklahoma State Senate.
Her many friends will remember that Mason was always quick with a joke and a smile.
She loved to travel and had been to New York City and Boston with the debate team.
She had recently returned from a trip to California and Mexico.
She was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her mother, of the home; one uncle, John Smith of Austin, Texas; one aunt, Kim Rodgers, Stillwater; cousins Hannah and J.T. Rodgers, Stillwater; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her father on May 29, 2003; her grandmother, Sue (Billie) Smith on March 9, 2004; and her grandfather, Rev. John V. Smith.
