Funeral services for former Konawa resident James Wesley "J.W." Merriman are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Konawa Assembly of God. Rev. Mitch Williams and Rev. James Williams will be officiating.
He will be buried at Vamoosa Cemetery under the dereaction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Merriman died July 25, 2004, at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada.
He was born on Aug. 16, 1948 in Palmdale, Calif., to Glenn Wesley Merriman and Jocie Ellen (Callaway) McBride.
He was married on June 24, 1972 in Holdenville, to Julia Freeman.
Merriman was a longtime Konawa resident before moving to Arkansas.
He was a welder, self-employed heavy equipment operator for many years and most recently was a truck driver.
He was a member of the Konawa Assembly of God and he was a retired volunteer fireman for the Konawa Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Wesley Merriman; his son, Russell Merriman; his brother, Chucky Merriman; and his grandson, Billy Joe Sample.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Jocie Ellen McBride and Archie McBride of Salado, Ark.; his wife, Julia of the home; his son and daughter-in-law Jimmy and Gail Merriman of Batesville, Ark.; Three daughters, Kimberly Sample and her husband Joey of Southside, Ark.; Julie Williams and her husband James of Colgate; and Amanda Merriman of Ada; two brothers, Donny Ray McBride of Batesville, Ark.; Don Albis Merriman of Holdenville; two sisters, Mariellen Driskill of Batesville, Ark.; and Dorthy Barnes of Salado, Ark.; and his five grandchildren Jared, Cody, Blake, Jacob and Megan.
Serving pallbearers will be his newphews and cousins and the honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Duck, Dale Radford, Herb Radford, Edward Maxwell, Keith Maxwell, Herb Williams, R.M. Weaver and Pete Hisaw.
Elsie Loree Dollar Metcalf
Graveside services for former Seminole resident Elsie Loree Dollar Metcalf are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Little Cemetery with Mike Marker officiating.
Interment will be under the direction of Leonard and Marker Funeral Home of Bixby.
Metcalf, 87, died Nov. 14, 2004 in Tulsa. She was born Feb. 9, 1917 in Prentiss County, Miss. to O.B. and Mattie P. (McClung) Dollar.
She was raised in Seminole County and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. She was a resident of Edmond for over 50 years before moving to Tulsa.
She worked many years as a bakery manager for the Humpty Dumpty Grocery Store in Edmond. Upon her retiring from the store she became a house mom for the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority at central State University.
Metcalf also served as a Camp Fire Girls leader earlier in her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Edmond and was involved in the Eastern Star when she was younger.
She was a tireless worker and enjoyed sewing; gardening and spending time with her family.
Her siblings Dean, Flavos, Floyd, Cecil, Junior, Lola and Lodessey Dollar preceded her in death.
She is survived by daughter Rita Johns of Claremore; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Martha Lancaster of Del City; and four step-grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to a charity of choice.
Hazel Jane Meyers
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Hazel Jane Meyers are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Russell Vicars officiating.
Entombment is to follow services at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Meyers, 91, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004 at Seminole Medical Center. She was born in Tinsman, Ark. on May 19, 1913 to Joe Washington Speer and Ollie Williams.
She retired in 1977 from Bell Telephone Company where she was a telephone operator. Meyers was a member of the First Baptist Church, and a former Rebekah.
Her parents, brother Kenneth Speer and sister Opal Klosterman all preceded her in death.
Two nephews survive her, Kenneth Speer Jr. of Henryetta and Robert L. Speer of Shawnee.
Judy Milburn
Funeral services for long time St. Louis resident, Judy (Hilliard) Milburn, mother of Seminole County residents, were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 16 at the St, . Louis First Baptist Church with Pastor Glenn Peck and Rev. Carroll Smith officiating.
Interment took place at the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.
Milburn died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at the age of 87 in Weatherford, Texas.
She was born Feb. 26, 1917, in Irving, Texas to "G.W." George Washington Hilliard and Daisy (Callahan) Hilliard.
She was married to Herman Eston Milburn on June 5, 1954, in Eunice, N.M.
She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church in Bowlegs.
She had also attended St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Maud.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, J.B. Adams in 1941; husband, Herman Eston Milburn on March 16, 1995; two brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by four sons, Ben Milburn of Tomball, Texas, Donald Adams of Kansas City, Mo., Barney Adams of Weatherford, Texas and Tony Vail of Sacramento, Calif.; three daughters, Betty Moore of Midland, Texas, Sandra Ingram of Konawa and Carolyn O’Bryant of Choctaw; one brother, Ted Hilliard of Vian; one sister, Allie Cockrell of Big Springs, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Bessie Jewel Miller
Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Bessie Jewel (Rodgers) Miller are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday at Sappington Chapel Cemetery in Cowden with Rev. Lavon Thompson officiating and under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Miller, 95, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 22, 1909 in Beaver County to Samuel Smith and Margaret Adaline (Wade) Rodgers.
She married Jake Miller on Dec. 5, 1925 in Carnegie and he preceded her in death on July 27, 1969. She later married Sam Isbell on Feb. 5, 1981 and he too preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1996.
Miller was a Seminole resident for the past 18 years having moved from Carnegie. She was a homemaker, mother and seamstress.
She made many garments and quilts for people in the Seminole area and enjoyed going to garage sales. Miller was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Cordell and she attended the First Assembly of God Church in Seminole.
Her parents; husbands; three grandsons, Donnie Miller, Steven Miller and Randall McSperitt; five brothers and six sisters all preceded her in death.
Surviving her is son Gene L. Miller of Seminole; daughter Velta (Miller) McSperitt of Seminole; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Doris Miller
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident, Doris Marie (Nelson) Miller are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Doyle Long and David Long officiating.
Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Miller died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at the age of 77 at Seminole Medical Center.
She was born July 3, 1926, in Bryant to Carl H. Nelson and Hattie (Luker) Nelson.
She married Albert Preston "Sonny" Miller Jr. on July 26, 1950 in Seminole.
Miller moved to Seminole in 1944 from Haskell.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
She taught Sunday school for 25 years at the Pentecostal Church and worked for the Election Board and Pleasant Grove for 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Bill Preston Miller in 1990.
She is survived by her husband, Sonny Miller, of the home; one son, Paul Nelson of Oklahoma City; one brother, Joe Nelson of Prague; and four grandchildren.

Douglas Allen Miller III
Douglas Allen Miller III died on Aug. 27, 2004. Funeral services for the infant son of Ruthie LeForce of Earlsboro and Douglas Miller, Jr. of Seminole were on Tuesday at the Allen Freewill Baptist Church in Weleetka with Rev. Don LeForce officiating.
Interment followed at the Wetumka Cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home.
He was born at O.U. Medical Center on Aug. 24, 2004. He is preceded in death by an aunt, Jessica Gregg of Seminole.
Survivors include parents; grandparents Donald and Goldie LeForce of Earlsboro, and Kevin and Sharon Gregg of Seminole; great grandparents Evelyn Rossman of Seminole, and Pat Gregg of Cromwell.
Earl Max Miller
Private family services are scheduled for former Seminole resident Earl Max Miller with the cremation being under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Miller, 57, died Nov. 27, 2004 at his home. He was born March 10, 1937 in West Virginia to Boyd and Lucy (Messer) Miller.
He moved to Seminole from Austin, Texas two weeks ago and was retired from land sales. Miller was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Two sons survive him, Alex R. Miller of Wewoka and D. Kent Miller of Austin, Texas; the mother of his children, Nancy Zimmerman of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Charles Sidwell Mills
Graveside services for former Seminole resident Charles Sidwell Mills are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Mills died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at the age of 64, at Woodland Hills Nursing Center in Allen.
He was born Aug. 31, 1940, in Oklahoma City, to Joe Marshall Mills and Billie (Newsom) Mills.
Mills graduated from St. Gregory High School and attended the University of Oklahoma.
A veteran of U.S. military service, he also worked in the oilfield until retirement.
Mills was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Greg and Julie Mills of Allen, and Scott and Sheila Mills of Ada; a step-son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Jinger Mills of Allen; a brother, Roger Mills, Seminole; a sister, Marsha Frank, of Sulphur, La.; five grandchildren: Danli, Jordyn, Caden, Lane and Cody Mills; and two step-grandchildren, Brendan and Ian Mills.
