Mark Mills

Mark Mills was born Dec. 16, 1979, in Shawnee, Okla., to Mike Mills and Connie Lane Mills.

He passed from this life Jan. 20, 2004, as a result of a tragic auto accident in Gulfport, Miss., at the age of 24.

Mark was raised south of Seminole and attended the Bowlegs school system.

While there, he excelled in athletics and received an invitation to play in the Oklahoma All-State football game following his senior year.

He graduated in 1998. Following graduation, he entered the United States Navy and joined the Construction Battalion, commonly known as the SeaBees, as a builder.

He was deployed to Siganella, Sicily, in 2000-01, to Guam in 2001-02 and to the Dominican Republic and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in 2003.

He was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and was authorized to wear the Navy Battle E Navy Unit Commendation and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with two bronze stars.

He was Petty Officer Third Class.

Mark became accomplished in archery and enjoyed other outdoor activities including fishing, camping and hunting.

He sometimes played golf, which usually became the subject of many amusing stories.

Because of his love for his sister, a severe diabetic, he was a lifetime donor to his favorite charity, the American Diabetes Association.

One of his greatest joys was spending time with family and friends.

He was making arrangements to attend Oklahoma State University, Okmulgee, to receive training in construction management.

Mark was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Williamson Lane, with whom he was very close.

Survivors include his parents, Mike and Connie Mills; a sister, Darla Demings; a brother, Terry Neese, all of Bowlegs; his paternal grandparents, Reford and Carol Mills of Seminole; two nieces, two nephews and other relatives, including aunts, uncles and cousins, and many friends.

Viewing and visitation for Mark is planned at Swearingen Funeral Home from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

A memorial service was held Friday at the SeaBees base in Gulfport.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Don Williamson officiating.

Interment with full military honors is planned at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include Shelby Hunter, Kevin Bragwell, Victor Mace, Travis Canfield, Heath Hoskison and Brian Dockery, along with representatives of the US Navy.

Ryan Kiesel will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Tammy Miner

Graveside services for Seminole County resident, Tammy Renee Miner of Wewoka were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4 at the Little Cemetery at Little with Rev. Jack Medlock officiating minister.

Services were under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Miner died at her home in Wewoka on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at the age of 40 years.

Tammy was born on February 10, 1964, in Wewoka, the daughter of Bill and LaJuana (Griffin) Morris.

She was reared and attended schools in the Wewoka/Seminole area, then lived for several years in Arkansas, returning to Wewoka in 1988.

She was married to Tim Miner in 1988.

They lived for several years in Bowlegs before moving back to Wewoka last year.

Tammy loved music, and she loved spending time on the river; fishing was optional, she just loved the river.

But more than anything else, she loved spending time with her family, especially her four grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

She is survived by her husband, Tim, of the home; two daughters, Katrina Poindexter and Christy Kellar, both of West Memphis, Ark.; one son, Matthew Sellars, of the home; four grandchildren; her mother and stepfather: LaJuana and Wayne DeLoach of Seminole; her father, Bill Morris, also of Seminole; one stepdaughter Sharee Stafford of Wewoka; one stepson, Mark Miner of Stillwater; four sisters: Janice Brumley of Holdenville, Connie Cheatham of Bixby, JoWanna Morris of Wewoka and Terry Perry of Seminole; her grandfather, Howard Griffin of Holdenville; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers were Terry Miner, Chester Phillips, Michael Miner, Johnny Miner, Marvin Griffin and Clint Sipes.

Arnie Minnick

Funeral services for Seminole resident, Arnie C. Minnick are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Interment will take place at the Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearing Funeral Home of Seminole.

Minnick died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at the age of 90 at Seminole Hospital.

She was born in Oklahoma to Grover Cleveland Clymer and Ivy Reevis.

She was married to Wallace "Walt" Minnick on June 30, 1937 in Chandler.

Minnick lived in Seminole for 65 years.

She was a certified welder, a waitress and a housewife.

She was preceded in death by her mother; father; husband, Walt Minnick on Dec. 10, 2000; and two sisters, Opal Brown and Goldeie Clymer.

Minnick is survived by one brother, Marvin Clymer and two sisters, Bonnie Gardner and Imogene Davis.

Richedean Miranda

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Richedean Miranda of Bristow are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Steve Holata and Eddie Lindsey officiating.

Wake service will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, also at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Wewoka.

Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Miranda died Jan. 6, 2004, at the age of 53 at the Rainbow Health Care Center in Bristow.

She was born Jan. 10, 1950, in Wewoka to Richmond and Minnie (Tiger) Harjo.

She was reared in the Wewoka and Oklahoma City area, attended Wewoka Public Schools and Central High School in Oklahoma City, as well as Tulsa Community College from 1993 to 1995.

She worked as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1995 from Glenpool Nursing Center.

She was baptized in 1960, and became a member of Wewoka Indian Baptist Church.

Miranda was preceded in death by her father, Richmond Harjo; one sister, MaJuana Harjo; and grandmother, Betty Lena Fixico.

She is survived by her mother, Minnie Harjo of Bristow; two sons, Richard Cruz of Bristow and Michael Anthony Cruz Sr. of Shawnee; one grandson; two sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ray Harjo, Grant Davis, Marcus Frejo, Connie Frejo, Duke Jimmy, Gary Davis and Ricky Middleton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Laplante, George Middleton Jr., Daniel Scott, Louis Paukei and Brian Frejo.

Sylvia P. Mitchell

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Sylvia P. Mitchell, 76, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Lively officiating.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Mitchell passed away on Nov. 1, 2004 at Holdenville General Hospital. She was born to L.C. and Allie (Jeffreys) Yeager on March 1, 1928.

She attended school in Limestone from grades-1 – 8and then in New Lima where she played basketball as a guard for four years.

On May 24, 1947 she married Jim Mitchell in the First Baptist Parsonage by H.B. Woodward. They were married for 47 years.

Mitchell was a member of the First Christian Church for over 50 years, as well as a member of the Wewoka Ladies Garden club and the Ladies Church Circle Group.

She raised her family in the church and was very active in church functions. Mitchell lived for taking care of her family, with antiques and garage sales being her favorite hobbies.

Her parents, L.C. and Allie Yeager, her in-laws, T.G. and Ora Purnell, and one granddaughter, Gina Penbrook preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband Jim Mitchell of Wewoka; son Gary and Vivian Mitchell of Midwest City; daughters Ann Cook of Oklahoma City and Linda Powell of Wewoka; grandchildren Lori Robertson and husband Lance, Lisa Pembrook, Jon Pembrook and wife Claudia, Gary L. Mitchell Jr., Christina Mitchell, Diana Herr, Michelle Herr, Cathy Mitchell and Amanda Watson.

Additional survivors include great-grandchildren Brooke and Kaitlyn Robertson, Tyler and Garrett Pembrook, Jacob Roller and Cody Watson; three brothers Archie Yeager and Maxine of Seminole, Dean Yeager of Morrelton, Ark., Ratis and Dorothy Yeager of Conway, Ark.; two sisters Margaret Noah of Kimball, Neb. and Sue Martin and Jim of McCurtain; sister-in-law Cleora Richardson of Rialto, Calif.; great aunt Grace Herval of Conway, Ark.; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Viola Moddelmog

Funeral services for Viola Christine Emma (Meyer) Moddelmog, mother of Seminole residents, were scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, May 17 at Peace With Christ Lutheran Church, 1412 W. Swallow Road in Fort Collins, Colo. with Pastors Eugene Brueggemann and Ronald Nickel officiating.

Visitation was held Sunday from 2-4 at Allnutt Funeral Service in Ft. Collins, Colo.

Interment followed at Grandview Cemetery.

Moddelmog died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at the age of 87 in For. Collins, Colo.

She was born Aug. 7, 1916, in Palmer, Kan. to William Henry and Christine (Stuenkel) Meyer.

She attended St. John’s School in Palmer and had resided in Fort Collins since 1961.

She married William Moddelmog on Feb. 12, 1939, in Palmer.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionalry League.

She volunteered at Poudre Valley Hospital for over 20 years and at Columbine Care Center East for 25 years.

She loved supporting her children and grandchildren in their various activities.

Moddelmog loved gardening and baking.

Her husband, William Moddelmog in 1981; her parents; one brother, Laverne Meyer and one sister, Esther Meyer, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her five sons, Ron Moddelmog and wife, Julie of Seminole, Lyle Moddelmog and wife, Carol, Wayne Moddelmog and wife, Sharon, Dennis Moddelmog and wife, Kathy, all of Fort Collins, Colo. and Mark Moddelmog and wife, Lynn of Dunlap, Ill.; daughters, Phyllis Propp and husband Ken, and Marietta Neuhole and husband, Walter, all of Fort Collins, Colo., Beverly O’Toole of Phoenix, Ariz. and Sharon Moddelmog and husband, Harold Jensen of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Eileen Meyer of Fort Collins, Colo. and Helen Voelker of Linn, Kan; brothers-in-law, Edward Moddelmog of Everett, Wash. and Emil VonLehe of Schaumburt, Ill.; 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Hospice of Larimer County or Open Arms Preschool at St. John’s Lutheran Church in care of Allnutt Funeral Service.
