Mattie Eloise ‘Cunningham’ Oliver
Mattie Eloise "Cunningham Oliver, born April 11, 1919, and after an eventful life, on Dec. 14, 2004, closed her eyes and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Mom attended Varnum High School near Seminole during this great city’s oil boom day.
In 1935, she married Ellis Ray Oliver, a welder in Seminole, and they became the proud parents of two children, David R. Oliver (and his wife Pat) of OKC and Sandra Thompson (and her husband Doug) of Roseville, Calif.
Mom was an Earth Angel! A lady of beauty, love, peace, purity of heart, healing, guardian, compassion and grace.
Fortunately, for all of us, America is blessed with many of these Earth Angels. They are America’s backbone. God bless them all.
Mom was a member of America’s greatest generation. As sweet and prayerful as she was, she knew during World War II that with Dad in Europe with the 8th Air Force, she must help – and left Seminole to build airplanes at Cessna Aircraft and Douglas in Midwest City.
Mom never moved back to Seminole but returned every Memorial Day to decorate the resting places of her parents and Dad’s parents and grandparents at beautiful Little Cemetery.
Mom’s wish was to be buried at Little – and she will be at 2 p.m. Friday Dec. 17.
Survivors include a sister, a brother, her son and daughter, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
It breaks our heart that Mom has left – but someday we will join her.
Until then, she is in our hearts.
