Dale Sadler

Private family services for lifelong Seminole County resident, Dale Sadler will be held under the direction of the Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Sadler died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at the age of 74 at his home in Seminole.

He was born Oct. 2, 1929, in Earlsboro to Raymond Beuford Sadler and Stella May (Hartley) Sadler.

He married Gloria "June" (Morris) Sadler on Feb. 26, 1975, in Ada.

He was a roustabout in the oilfield and served in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria Sadler on Nov. 3, 2002; one brother, Jimmy Sadler in 1982; and one great granddaughter, Scotlyn R. Shirey in 2001.

Sadler is survived by his daughter Kay Fry of Konawa; one brother, Don Sadler of Seminole; two sisters, Marie Mize of Tecumseh and Darlene Wendt of Florida; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

Opal Salazar

Graveside services for Seminole County native, Opal Hignite Salazar are to be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9 at the Holdenville Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Salazar died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at the age of 87 in Holdenville.

She was born Feb. 5, 1916 in Wewoka to Ira Hignite and Alice Lillian (Capps) Hignite.

She was a lifelong resident of the Wewoka and Holdenville area.

She married John Salazar in Holdenville on Nov. 14, 1936; he preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1973.

Salazar was employed by SeamPruf in Holdenville for many years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and was active in the senior citizen program activities.

Her daughter, Delores Salazar and one great granddaughter, Blair Barkhimer also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughters, Betty Quinta Cook of Wewoka and Evalena Middleton of Holdenville; one brother, Toie Hignite of Holdenville; one sister, Judy Ashley of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Cliff Cook, Greg Cook, Carl Barkhimer, Jordon Cook, Jeff Cook, Austin Cook, Blaine Barkhimer and Seth Barkhimer.

James E. Schulze

Funeral services for Seminole resident James E. "Jim" Schulze are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Lynn Borrego officiating.

Interment is to follow service at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Schulze died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born May 20, 1924 in Cushing to Theodore Lawrence and Maude O. (Thomas) Schulze.

He married Elsa Lavon Meyers on Aug. 1, 1948 in Cushing. The couple moved to Seminole in 1963.

Schulze was a retired printer who had worked for Davis Printing and Seminole Printers from 1963 – 1993. He was a veteran who served in World War II in the United States Navy as a printer 2nd class.

He was a member and lay reader at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, former volunteer firefighter for the Seminole Fire Department, storm watcher for Seminole Civil Defense, past president and Kiwanian of the Year of the Kiwanis Club, American Legion Post 204 former chaplain, Seminole Police Reserve Officer, 1985 Reserve Officer of the Year, and a member of the Seminole Football Boosters.

His parents, brothers Guy and Gorden Schulze, sister Ruth and infant siblings Jack and Lavern Schulze preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of the home; two sons Ted and Cliff Schulze, both of Oklahoma City; brother George Schulze of Portland, Ore.; and three grandchildren, Steven, Zach and Melissa Schulze..

The casket bearers for the service will be Steven Schulze, Zach Schulze, Bruce Schulze, Phil Roberson, Melvin Roberson and Joe Templeton.

Honorary bearers will be James Ipock, Leroy Goad, Herb Gunter, Bob Davis, Phil Parks, Mac Carter and the American Legion Post 204.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1304, Seminole or Interfaith Ministries, P.O. Box 1602, Seminole.

Bonnie Mae (Berry) Scott

Services for Konawa resident Bonnie Mae (Berry) Scott are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Winters officiating.

Interment is set to take place at Konawa Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Scott died in her home Monday, Oct. 18, 2004. She was 84.

A lifelong Seminole County resident, Scott was born February 11, 1920, in Konawa to Luther Arnold Berry and Allie Lee (Minton) Berry.

She was married to Simon Scott.

During WWII, Scott worked as a riveter at Douglas Aircraft. She also worked as a waitress, a cook and owned a café.

Scott was a member of the Church of Christ and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son Ricky Joe Scott; two brothers, Roscoe and Gene Berry; and sister Peggy Ledford.

Scott is survived by two sisters, Geneva Fisher and Barbara Chase both of Konawa.

E.W. ‘Bill’ Scott

Funeral services for Seminole resident E.W. "Bill" Scott have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole.

Services will be officiated by Rev. Mark Senter, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.

Scott died Saturday, June 26, 2004, in Shreveport, La., at the age of 80.

He was born on Feb. 8, 1924, in Salt Creek, Wyo., to Raymond Gilbert Scott and Elsie Elizabeth (Sigg) Scott.

The Scotts moved from Wyoming to Seminole in 1928.

On Aug. 15, 1946, Scott married Gladys Mae Scott in Seminole. She preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 1994.

In World War II, Scott served in the U.S. Navy as a Gunner’s Mate 2nd-Class.

He worked for Scotts Well Service from 1947 to 1970, and then worked for Arrow Pump in 1973 until his retirement.

Scott was a member of the Seminole Bass Club and he enjoyed bowling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Scott is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Karen Scott of Ardmore; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and David Eaton of Edmond; and one sister, Raydene S. Prichard of New Orleans, La.

He is also survived by five grandchildren, Debbie, Eddie, Bill, Michael and Julie; and three great-grandchildren, Billy Jack, Bobby Joe and Katie.

Scott’s grandsons will be his pallbearers, and Larry Mullen is listed as an honorary pallbearer.

Henry Scott

Graveside services for Seminole County resident, Henry C. Scott, of Konawa, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, May 27 at the Konawa Cemetery under the direction of the Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

Scott died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at the age of 71.

He was born Sept 3, 1932, in St Louis.

He attended Konawa High School where he excelled in academics, as well as sports.

At the age of 19, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and spent his career in Intelligence.

He had a very distinguished military career.

Scott served in the Vietnam War, worked at Norad, spoke German and served as an interrogator.

He received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Joint Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Award, along with numerous other awards and ribbons.

During his career, he received the highest marks for outstanding service to his country.

During his retirement years as a resident of Del City, he worked with the Del City Junior Sports Association Youth baseball as a coach and a baseball commissioner.

Scott also served on the Housing Commission and City Council.

He installed the playground equipment at the Del City Elementary School and worked closely with the Del City Police Department.

Scott married his wife, Wanda Tipton on July 15, 1951.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one grandson, Christopher Caywood.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Scott of the home, one daughter, Connie Caywood; one son, Michael Scott; one granddaughter and three brothers.

Rev. Abner Seawright Jr.

Funeral services for Rev. Abner M. Searight Jr. of Wewoka are sheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Clay McCarly will officiate, with burial in Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Seawright died Sunday, July 4, 2004, at his home in Wewoka, at the age of 69.

He was born Nov. 10, 1934, in Flippin, Ark., to Abner Minor and Josie Idella (Wilson) Seawright.

He served as pastor of Alice (Texas) Baptist Church for 17 years, retiring in 2000.

He moved to Wewoka four years ago from Alice. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Seminole.

He married Katherene (James) Seawright on April 14, 1953, in Flippin, Ark.; she survives him, of the home.

Other survivors include on son, Gerald Seawright, Wewoka; one daughter, Milynda Kelley, Flippin; one brother, Sam Seawright, Flippin; two sisters, Wanda Smith, Yellville, Ark., and Carolyn Treat, Mountain Home, Ark.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Pallbearers will include Blaine Dearman, Dietric Little, Arlie Proctor, Glen Deen James, Larry Kelley and Chris Roe.

Honorary casketbearers will include Ed Brock, Kenton Treat, Billy Frank Smith, Don R. James and Jerry Waddle.
