Memorial services for former Wewoka resident Howard Lee Tiger are scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday at Airport Church of Christ under the direction of Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuary of Oklahoma City.
Tiger, 58, died Dec. 16, 2004 in Oklahoma City. He was born June 20, 1946 in Wewoka and attended New Lima High School.
He was employed as a certified nurse’s assistant and was an avid OU fan.
Surviving him are sisters, Ramona L. Walker of Yukon, Lenora Navcorney of Tulsa and Lynda Miller of Wewoka.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to either a cancer or diabetes charity in memory of Howard Lee Tiger.
Virginia ‘Butch’ Tiger
Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Virginia "Butch" Tiger were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 9 at Little River Baptist Church near Spaulding with Revs. Robert Davis and Billy Joe Harjo officiating.
Interment followed the services at Davis Cemetery under the direction of Hudson- Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
Wake services were held at 7 p.m. Monday evening at Hudson-Phillips Chapel.
Virginia "Butch" Tiger was born on August 12, 1942 to Wilson Davis and Rosa Mae Berryhill in Talihina in rural Latimer County.
She was raised in the Hughes County area and lived around the Seminole County area all her life.
Tiger lived in the Holdenville area until the last three years where she lived in Wetumka.
She was a longtime member of Spring Church in Sasakwa and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Tiger on January 1, 1983; her parents; two children, Kenneth Tiger Jr. and Annette Tiger; one sister, Dorothy Tainpeah; and two brothers, Charles Davis and Edward Davis.
She is survived by four children, Mary Gutierrez, Tracy Williams, Darrell Tiger, and Richard Tiger; three sisters, Linda West, Vera Whitlock, and Gloria; one brother, David Johnson; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Tainpeah, Ray Tainpeah, John Tainpeah, Shawn West, Mickey Davis, and Kelly Davis.
Renoals Ellen Tiger
Funeral services for Seminole resident Renoals Ellen Tiger are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Cheyarha Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Lively to officiate.
Interment is to follow services at Cheyarha Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Tiger, 90, died at home on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004. She was born Feb. 12, 1914 in Geraldine, Mont. to William T. and Tinnie (Clark) Turner. She moved to Seminole from Bristow 82 years ago.
She married Anderson Tiger in 1993 in Seminole. She owned a drapery shop and was a member of Cheyarha Presbyterian Church.
Preceding her in death was her parents; her husband; son William George Tiger; five brothers, Otto Shelton, William Clark, Cleo Turner, Otis Turner and Kenneth Turner; two sisters, Lilliam Simek and Retha Logan; and two daughters, Tinnie and Ruth Tiger.
Survivors include five sons, Anderson Tiger, Jr. of Sapulpa, Kenneth Tiger of Willis Point, Texas, Jack and David Tiger both of Chickasha and Ted Tiger of Seminole; daughter Juanita Scott of Seminole; three sisters, Leon Sarina of Sonora, Calif., Jeanette Munch and Dorthy Seamara, both of St. L. Obispo, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Casket bearers for the service will be Andrew Tiger, William Tiger, Trent Tiger, Josh Tiger, Cotcha Tiger and David Bradley Tiger.
Michael Tilley
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Michael Tilley, 60, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Assembly of God. Rev. Sharon Taptto will be officiating and also speaking is Rev. Perry Justice.
Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Tilley died at his home Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004
He was born on Nov. 9, 1943 in Del City, to Olan and Eadith (Cummings) Tilley.
He graduated from Wewoka High School and the University of Oklahoma.
He served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War.
He was employed by Moore’s IGA of Wewoka. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He was survived by his mother, two sons, Jason Tilley of Oklahoma City and Owen Tilley of Tulsa; and one sister, Judy Bivens of Wewoka; and one granddaughter.
Florence Fixico Tims
OKLAHOMA CITY – Florence Tims passed away on Sept. 11, 2004 at the Deaconess Hospital at the age 58.
She was born on Aug. 26, 1946 in Holdenville to Wallas and Flora (Burgess) Fixico.
Tims was reared in the Holdenville area and later attended Central High School and graduated in 1960.
Florence worked for Great Plains Coke Company for 23 years as a production worker.
Florence married Johnny Sands in 1990 in Oklahoma City.
They made their residence in Oklahoma City where she was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Oklahoma Federation of Indian Women and was an active bowler.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents Wallas and Flora Fixico, one brother, Kenneth Eugene Russell.
Her husband survives her, Johnny Sands of Oklahoma City; two daughters and their husbands, Michelle and Mike Hendricks and Danette and Javier Santos; eight grandchildren, Teia Tims, Sencera Tims, Sierra Hendricks, Tashina Santos, Cherokee Hendricks, Cheyenne Santos, Katc’v Hendricks, Jovanni Santos; two great grandchildren, Isiah Trevino, Isabella Trevino, all of Oklahoma City; one sister, Joyce Jones of High Springs, Fla.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Tims will be taken to Seminole Baptist Church in Konawa at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004.
Wake services will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004 at the Seminole Baptist Church, with Rev. Leon Postoak officiating and Rev. Billy Joe Harjo assisting.
Pallbearers will be Mike Jones, Kenneth Jones, Mike Hendricks, Roger Sands, Kenneth Russell, Javier Santos and Monte Bolen.
Interment will be at the Seminole Baptist Church cemetery in Konawa, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka.
Lillian Bernice Tipton
Funeral services for former long-time Seminole resident Lillian Bernice Tipton are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
Rev. Russell Vicars will officiate, with burial following in Okmulgee Cemetery.
Tipton died Monday, July 5, 2004, in Lewsiville, Texas, at the age of 96.
She was born Oct. 29, 1907, in West Mineral, Kan., to Robert Lee and Hattie (Moore) Martin.
She lived in Seminole for more than 50 years, where she was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and a charter member of the Progress Club and Pink Ladies at Seminole Municipal Hospital.
She was past matron of Order of Eastern Star.
Tipton moved to Lewisville, Texas in 2002.
She was married to O.E. "Tip" Tipton on Aug. 5, 1930, in Okmulgee; he preceded her in death on May 13, 2004.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Bennie Tipton, Lewisville; one brother, Paul Martin, Mesa, Ariz.; one granddaughter, Julie Tipton, Lewisville, Texas; one niece, Joyce Cobb, Holiday Island, Ark.; and several other nieces and nephews.
O.E. Tipton
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident, O.E. "Tip" Tipton are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, May 17, at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Russell Vicars officiating.
Interment will be in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Tipton died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at the age of 96 in Lewisville, Texas.
He was born June 14, 1907, in Featherton to Memary Clifford Tipton and Zado Daniels Tipton Upton.
He married Lillian (Martin) Tipton on Aug. 5, 1930, in Okmulgee.
Tipton lived in Seminole for over 50 years, until Sept. 2002, when he moved to Lewisville, Texas.
He was a retired equipment maintenance man for Sinclair/ Anderson Pritchard.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seminole.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Tipton, Lewisville; one son, Donald Tipton, Lewisville; one granddaughter; two brothers, J.C. Tipton, Okmulgee, and Emmit Upton, Oklahoma City.
Mahota Mattilee Todd
Graveside services for former Seminole resident Mahota Mattilee Todd, 82, will be 2 p.m. on Friday at Maple Grove Cemetery with Dr. Bob Birdwell officiating.
Todd died on Aug. 31, 2004 at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. She was born on Sept. 26, 1921 in Shamrock to George and Flora (Taylor) Birdwell.
She excelled in basketball and baseball in high school and then followed her family to Marysville, Calif. in the 40s.
As a homemaker, wife, and mother, she joined the ranks of many Oklahoma women as a "Rosie the Riveter" while her husband was at war.
In 1999 she moved back to Oklahoma and belonged to the Church of Christ.
Todd is preceded in death by her parents, sister Patty Lou Rock, and her son Gene Pruitt.
Her survivors include her son Billy Pruitt of Marysville, Calif.; daughter Glenda Klinger of Oklahoma City; two brothers Jack Birdwell of Edmond, and G.Q. Birdwell of Caney, Kan.; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Helen Trippet
Funeral services for Helen Grey Trippet, granddaughter of Seminole pioneer, O.D. Strother, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9 at Stanleys Memorial Chapel.
Dr. Mouzon Biggs of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church will officiate.
Entombment will follow at the Mausoleum in Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.
Trippet died Feb. 1, 2004, at the age of 84.
She was born Feb. 20, 1919, in Miami to Robert and Susan Alberta (Strother) Simpson.
She was a homemaker and a longtime resident of Tulsa.
She married Robert S. Trippet on Dec. 27, 1941, and he preceded her in death on June 10, 2000.
Her parents also precede her in death.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Susan of California, Virginia of Enid and Constance of Denver, Colo.
