Funeral services for former longtime Seminole resident, Leon Moore White are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Chris Stinnett officiating.
Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home for visitation on Friday, Feb. 20 from 5-7 p.m.
White died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at the age of 90 at HCR Manor Care Nursing Home in N. Richland Hills, Texas.
He was born Aug. 3, 1913, in Kingston Springs, Tenn. to William Sam White and Lena Irene (Moore) White.
He moved to the Seminole area with his family in 1915 and then to the city of Seminole in 1923.
He graduated from Seminole High School in 1923 and from the University of Oklahoma in 1936 with a degree in Business Administration.
He joined the Home Lumber Company in 1936 and married Ruth Edwards in 1939.
From this union came two daughters, Linda and Karen.
They also have two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was co-owner of the Home Lumber Company in Seminole from 1936-1972.
White served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941-1946, and retired from the U.S. Army Reserve with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
White was active member of the Lions Club for 40 years and a former president of the organization.
He served nine years on the Seminole Board of Education, was a member of the Campfire Board of Directors for 15 years, served five years on the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army, was a charter member of the Seminole Historical Society and its Board of Directors.
White was also a member of the Seminole Industrial Development Foundation and served as the treasurer, playing a major role in the industrial development efforts of Seminole.
He was an Eagle Scout during his youth and was a member of the Eagle Scout Board of Review for the Canadian Valley District.
White was also a member of the executive board for the Last Frontier Council of the Boy Scouts of America and was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and was a 32nd Degree KCCH Mason.
He was inducted into the Seminole Hall of Fame and in 1996, the White’s moved to Fort Worth, Texas to be close to their daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
White was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Sam Herbert White and Arthor Lee White.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Edwards White of N. Richland Hills, Texas; two daughters, Karen White Brownlee and husband, Michael of New York, N.Y. and Linda White Wade and her husband, Joe of Fort Worth, Texas; one brother, Buford White and wife Linda of Shawnee; two grandchildren, Jolynn Behringer and husband Blake, and Wendy Wade; and two great grandchildren, Jake and Wade Behringer.
Pall bearers will be Bob Jones, Melvin Moran, Thurman Edwards Jr., Cecil Sullivan, Phil Neill, Bill Parks, Hulett Edgmon and Jim Keisman.
Honorary bearers will be Bob Clausing, J.D. Wood, Phillip Parks, Emery Magruder and Ron Austin.
Mavery Lou White
A graveside memorial service and burying of the ashes for Mavery Lou White will be held at 2 p.m. at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw. The family members will direct the services.
Mavery Lou White, 83, passed away Sept. 20, 2004 at Rose Manor Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 30, 1920 in Macon, Ga., to Barney and Chloe Kastner.
Her family moved from Macon, Ga. to Shawnee in 1932 and resided north of Shawnee. She attended North Rock Creek School.
White worked as a health care provider in hospitals and nursing homes in the Shawnee and Seminole areas. She had a special gift of taking care of the elderly and people that were in need.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wesley Coble, son Carl Coble, and eight siblings.
Her survivors include daughter Barbara Adams of Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law Pat (White) and Greg Westerman of Tulsa; son Dean White of Seminole; sisters Mildred Simmonson, Bernice Davis, and Ruth Manor, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; brothers Junior Kastner and Clarence Kastner also of Bakersfield, Calif.; eight grandsons; 17 great-grandchildren; and 17 great great-grandchildren.
Maxine White
SHAWNEE – Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Maxine White are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Brother Tim Emmons will officiate.
White died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at a Prague nursing home at the age of 84.
She was born Jan. 5, 1920, in Booneville, Miss., to Marcas and Mattie (Martin) Walden.
She attended school at Prairie Valley School and graduated from Paden High School.
She worked for The Seminole Company as a secretary and was a member of First Baptist Church of Prague.
She was married to Ervin White for over 60 years before his death in 2001.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Bill, Olan and Cotton Walden.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald White of McLoud and Donald White of Harrah; three grandsons; thee great-granddaughters; three brothers, Junior, Harold and Earl Walden, all of Prague; and one sister, Eilene Goode, Oklahoma City.
‘Edith’ Marie Williams
Graveside services for former Seminole County resident, "Edith" Marie Williams of Eufaula were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 3, at the Oakwood Cemetery of Wewoka with the Revs. Brandon Scott McCombs and Roger Jackson officiating.
Services were under the direction of Hunn, Black and Merritt Funeral Home of Eufaula.
Williams died Friday, April 30, 2004, at the age of 93 at the St. John Medical Center of Tulsa.
She was born on Dec. 9, 1910, in Maud, the daughter of T.J. and Clemmie (Hubbard) French.
She graduated from high school and worked in an ammunition plant in San Diego, Calif.
In 1927, Edith married James B. McCombs in Holdenville.
She later married Jessie James Williams in 1946 in Edmond.
He preceded her in death in 1981.
Williams was a homemaker, as well as a member of the Suncrest Baptist Church.
Williams was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Betty Jane Mauldin and one great grandchild, Logan Christopher.
Survivors include her sons, Bill D. Williams of Eufaula, James Bernard McCombs of San Diego, Calif., Billy Ray McCombs of Tulsa, and Bobby Joe Williams of Yukon; daughter, Doris Bitting of Muskogee.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Flora Williams
Services for Wewoka resident Flora Williams are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Wewoka. Interment will be at the Westwood Cemetery.
Williams died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004. She was 77.

Hershell Williams
Funeral services for Hershel H. Williams, 95, will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel with Minister Bob Douglas officiating.
Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka.
Williams passed away Father’s Day, Sunday, June 20, 2004, at his home.
He was born December 5, 1908, in Wewoka to Jim and Mary (Rhoades) Williams.
He was the youngest of twelve children, all who have preceded him in death.
He graduated from Wewoka High School and attended East Central State College in Ada.
He married Bertie Williams on March 1, 1936, in Ada.
They were married 68 years and three daughters were born of this union.
Hershel and Bertie owned and operated George’s Cleaners for 42 years.
In 1975, they retired to the family farm north of Wewoka, where they continued to reside.
They are members of the First Baptist Church of Wewoka.
Williams is preceded in death by two daughters, Helen and Lorraine, his parents, and his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Bertie, of the home, one daughter, Dorothy Sadeghy of Edmond, three grandchildren, Wayne Sadeghy and Cie Jackson, of Edmond, and Shannon Clayton of Oklahoma City, and three great-grandchildren, Shereen and Shayna Jackson of Edmond and James Clayton of Oklahoma City.
Pallbearers will be James Clayton, Durward Tucker, Cecil Moore, Gerald Hill, Tony Sheffield, Wayne Sadeghy and Jim Bicknell.
Myrtle Faye Williams
Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Myrtle Faye (Ward) Williams are set for 2 p.m. Friday, at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Wewoka.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Factor is set to officiate.
Williams died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at the age of 84, in her home in Oklahoma City.
She was born June 20, 1920, in Henryetta, to George J. and Myrtle Mundell Ward.
She lived in Sasakwa and Wewoka before moving to Oklahoma City in 1968, where she worked as a seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frazier Williams in 1997, two sisters and three brothers.
Williams is survived by her son Roy "Gene" Williams of Oklahoma City, her daughter Carmelita C. Palmer of Shawnee, her sister Lenora Bougio of Oklahoma City, and her special daughter-in-law Lenita Williams of Oklahoma City.
Additional survivors included seven grandchildren: Tony Palmer, Kevin Palmer, Alicia Palmer, Shaun Palmer, Jason Palmer, Ryan Williams and Regina Williams; eight great-grandchildren: Michelle Palmer, Nicole Palmer, Victoria Palmer, Kyle Palmer, Tyler Palmer, Jarod Palmer, Josie Palmer and Marisa Williams.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Ward, Kevin Palmer, Shaun Palmer, Jason Palmer, Oval Lee Ward, Jason Palmer, Kyle Palmer, Tyler Palmer and Sonny Ward. Tony Palmer is the honorary pallbearer.
