Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at the North Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Sanders officiating for Edward Lee Adams of Eufaula.
A graveside service followed at 2 p.m. at Vamoosa Cemetery in Konawa under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home.
Adams, 74, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2005 at the Muskogee Regional Medical Center. He was born April 28, 1931 in Ada to Clarence Edward and Ola Mae (Parks) Adams.
He graduated from Vamoosa High School and on Dec. 19, 1952, Edward married Loretta Pauline Knight in Konawa. Loretta preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 2000.
They had two daughters, Melba and Lee Ann.
Edward then married Lucille Scott on Feb. 8, 2001 in Eufaula.
Adams was a Colonel in the United States Army Reserves and the Oklahoma National Guard. He was a veteran of the Korean War and while in the service, Edward was an Industrial Arts teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille of the home; daughters, Melba Bryant of Eufaula and Lee Ann Harrelson and husband Bob of Shawnee; grandchildren, Kameron Cole, Annie Harrelson, Merry and Nigel Rampergash and great-grandson Ethan.
Also included is stepson Lee Roy Land and wife Becky of Lenna; stepdaughter Judy Polson and husband Jack of Eufaula; granddaughters Emily Polson and Dalina Lane; grandson Josh Lane and wife Tanika and one great-granddaughter, Hallie Lane.
He is receded in death by his parents and his sister Ren Ruth Sharver.
J.B. Adams
Funeral services for former Seminole business owner J.B. Adams were held today at 10 a.m. at the Vondel Smith South Colonial Chapel.
Adams, 65, died Friday, July 22, 2005. He was born Sept. 16, 1939 in Shattuck to Howell J. and Elzy (Hogue) Adams.
He was a Minister in Wewoka, Weleetka, Cromwell, Caney and Seminole. Adams owned and operated Jay’s Barber Shop in Seminole for over 20 years.
His parents and two brothers, Elmer Adams and Dwayne Adams preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife Mary Jane of the home; three sons, John Nelson of Denver, Colo., Jay Adams of Mustang and Justin Adams of Mission Viejo, Calif.; one daughter, Lori Hudgins of Tecumseh; one brother, Henry Adams of Cobb, Ga.; two sisters, Dorothy Stephens of Prague and Ninah Poplin of Wellston; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Delores Adkins
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Delores Adkins are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Earl M. Temple Memorial Chapel.
The services are under the direction of Temple & Sons Funeral Directors, Inc. of Oklahoma City.
Adkins died Monday, July 18, 2005 and was born Dec. 18, 1941 in Phoenix, Ariz. to Tillus Adkins Sr. and Betty Helen Haynes Adkins.
Surviving her is one son, Nelson Ervin Jones of Houston, Texas.
Carmaleta Aldridge
Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Carmaleta Aldridge are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Wilburn and Rev. Cal Hunter to officiate.
Burial is to take place following the service at Wolf Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Aldridge, 84, died Friday, June 3, 2005 at home. She was born Sept. 14, 1920 in Wagoner to Charley Bolton Payne and Pearlie (Sutton) Payne.
She married Ellis Delbert Aldridge on March 5, 1939 in Seminole. Carmaleta was a member of the Methodist Church and a retired schoolteacher who taught in the Bowlegs School system.
Carmaleta was a member of the National Education Association, O.E.A., Seminole County Retired Teachers and Friendship Class S.S. United Methodist Women.
Her parents; husband, Ellis D. Aldridge (August 19, 2001); two brothers, James Robert Payne and Thomas Jack Payne; one son, Gilbert James Aldridge and one grandson, Keith Aldridge preceded her in death.
Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Delbert Henry and Barbara Aldridge of Seminole, Toby Aldridge of Seminole, Gary G. and Carol Aldridge of Cushing and Jay W. Aldridge of Seminole.
In addition, there are 12 grandchildren, Toni Whittmann, Sheri Roberts, Julie Head, Jimmy Aldridge, Traci Aldridge, Kerry Aldridge, Vicki Peters, Tristan Aldridge, Levi Keith Aldridge, Mike Aldridge, Donna Kay Davis and Debbie Lynn Lucas; 13 great-grandchildren; four nieces and three nephews who survive her.
Pall bearers for the service will be Jim Rider, Cliff Ruminer, Darrell Adams, Zane Bowman, Dick Ledbetter and Brian Lucas.
Michael Allen
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Michael Edward Allen are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Hudson-Phillips Chapel.
The services will be under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville.
Allen, 30, died Monday, July 25, 2005 in Holdenville General Hospital. He was born June 25, 1975 in Woodward to Bob and Lissie Allen.
He worked for Ronnie Cherry as a roughneck and truck driver and enjoyed music and was an avid fisherman.
His grandfather, Ashley Joe Allen, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Lissie Cross and husband Buster of Seminole; his father and stepmother, Bob Allen and wife Amelia of Spaulding; two daughters, Courtney Williams of Sasakwa and Lauren Allen of Holdenville and son Brayden Nichols of Holdenville.
In addition is his grandmother Bessie Troutman of Coleman; brothers, Donnie Allen of Missouri, Robert Allen of Wetumka; Darby Allen and Jason Cross, both of Seminole; sisters Amie Cox of Odenville, Ala., Bridgette Roberts of Holdenville, Jessica Allen of Holdenville and Rozanna Green of Enid and special friend, Nancy Mathis-Bryant of Wewoka.
Troy Kent Allen
Funeral services for lifelong Wewoka resident Troy Kent Allen are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stout-Phillips Chapel, with interment in Little Cemetery.
Allen, 45, died Saturday, July 2, 2005 at Unity Health Center. He was born in Wewoka April 30, 1960 to George and Mary Yancy Allen.
He attended New Lima Schools and later received a general equivalency diploma.
Allen worked in the oilfield industry as a roustabout for Max Smith Oil Co. and had attended First Baptist Church in Bowlegs.
One brother, Lonnie Presley; grandparents George and Mattie Allen; maternal grandparents, Lonzo and Lillie Yancy preceded him in death.
Survivors include his parents George W. and Mary Allen of Wewoka; seven sisters, Jeannie Jones of Broken Arrow, Donna Johnson of Seminole, Pam Kinder of Holdenville, Paula Gamble, Angie Campbell both of Seminole, Tracy Reeves of Tecumseh and Melody Allen Wewoka; and four brothers, George Allen Jr. of Texas, Roy Allen of Holdenville, Mike Presley and Raymond Ward both of Wewoka.
Sam W. Allison
After a five year battle with cancer and with the care of family, friends and Shawnee Heartland Home Healthcare and Hospice, Sam W. Allison, age 79, passed away early Saturday morning June 25, 2005, in Wewoka.
He was born to Frank M. and Dewey Allison in Winfield, Kan.
Sam was a graduate of Wolf High School in Wolf. After graduation he joined the United States Army in 1944 and served through 1946.
Later, Sam signed up for a second tour of duty in 1949 through 1953 as a rifleman in combat infantry.
During this time he met and married his wife Judy "Ayako" Takanhashi in Kobe, Japan.
While serving in WWII, Sam received a Purple Heart, Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, EAME Theater Ribbon, three Bronze Service Stars and one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster.
Sam was employed at Redco Oil and Gas Company and Great American Machine and Supply. After retirement, Sam worked for Wewoka Public Schools as a bus driver and custodian and also as bus driver for Wewoka Senior Citizens.
Sam and his wife Judy were members of Harvey Road Baptist Church in Seminole.
Preceding Sam in death were his wife, Judy "Ayako" Allison: his parents, Frank M. and Dewey Allison: and brother, Frank Jr.
Sam is survived by his sons, Jim Allison and wife Darlene of Wewoka; Donnie Allison and wife Leslie of Leawood, Kan.; and one daughter, Judith Maye and husband Jerome of Moore.
Also surviving Sam are grandchildren, Ronnie Allison and wife Misty Allison of Seminole; Ron Harris of Moore; Clark and Cole Allison of Leawood, Kan.; and two great-grandchildren, Bradley Stockstill and Mackenzie Allison of Seminole.
Sam is also survived by a very special sister and brother-in-law, Maryann Braden and Carl Braden of Edmond; along with one nephew, Gerald D. Braden and wife Schrie of Kingfisher; and one niece Carla Ann Cormack and husband Guy of Edmond; great nieces, Kelly and Kristy Cormack, Ashley, Allison and Autumn Braden and other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ray Sheffield, Tony Sheffield, Guy Tucker, Gerald D. Braden, Guy Cormack, and Judge Sawyer.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Ronnie Allison, Misty Allison, Ron Harris, Clark Allison, and Cole Allison, and great-grand-children, Bradley Stockstill and Mackenzie Allison.
Services were scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, in Wewoka with Shawnee Heartland Hospice Chaplan Glen Pence and Rev. Michael Vallandingham and Veterans of Foreign Wars officiating.
Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Bernice Almon
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Bernice Oleta Almon are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Fifth Street Baptist Church in Marlow, Okla.
Rev. Bill Ellis, Rev. Cliff Hawkins and Dr. Joe Ligon are to officiate.
Interment will follow services at Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.
Almon, 75, died Sunday, July 3, 2005 in Duncan, Okla. She was born March 17, 1930 in Holdenville to Benton Eugene West and Esther (Hood) West.
She married Jacob Harold Almon Aug. 30, 1952 in Seminole.
Almon graduated from Seminole High School in 1948 and received a degree in applied ministries with a business emphasis from OMBC in 1983.
She had lived in Marlow since 1958 and was a financial manager at OMBC for 40 years.
Almon taught piano lessons in the Marlow and Duncan areas for 69 years, and was the pianist at the 5th Street Baptist Church for over 40 years. She performed at other area churches as well for a total of 63 years.
She was an active member of her church, where she taught children and youth Sunday school classes.
Almon was a member of the 5th Street Baptist Ladies Auxiliary and District Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as officer of both at various times.
In addition, she was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, pastor’s and Wives Association, OMBI Quartet, OMBC Teachers and Faculty, and Missions Secretary for Costa Rica Missions.
Her parents and one brother, Eugene A. West preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband of Marlow; son Billy Almon of Duncan; daughter Marcella Williams of Marlow and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the services will be Chris Almon, Drew Williams, Jeff Lenocker, Lee Lancaster, Ronnie Davis, Benny Davis, Ricky Price and Dan Luttrell.
Honorary bearers will be 5th Street Baptist Church and OMBC Faculty and Trustees.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the 5th Street Baptist Church Library or to Unity Baptist Church Mission Fund.
