Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Bobby Benefield are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel.
Revs. Glen Eaves and Carlyle Gargis will officiate. Burial will follow at Holdenville Cemetery with the United States Air force Honor Guard from Tinker Air Force Base conducting military honors.
Mr. Benefield, age 72, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at a local nursing home. He was born Aug. 5, 1932 in Sasakwa to Joseph Jackson and Edna Fitzpatrick Benefield.
He attended 18 different grade schools and junior high school. He attended Columbia College in South Carolina and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1963 from East Central University in Ada. He also received numerous other professional training.
Mr. Benefield married Joan Shed on June 24, 1956 in Holdenville.
He was a Project Director in Environmental Science for nine years and he retired from the Robert S. Kerr Research Lab in 1980. Later he owned and operated Environmental Resource Technologies Laboratory before retiring in 2000.
Mr. Benefield served in the United States Air Force for 11 years and was stationed in Newfoundland, Alaska and South Carolina. He also was with the Public Health Service for four years in Minneapolis, Minn.
Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of the Ada home; three sons, Bryan "Randy" Benefield of Globe, Ariz., Stephen Benefield and wife Shelley of Ada and Stewart Benefield of Ada; four grandchildren, Kelsey Benefield of Globe, Ariz., Marni Benefield of Las Vegas, Nev. and Emily and George Benefield of Ada; a special nephew and his wife, dale and Audrey Jones of Sasakwa and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be Richard Dunlap, Tim Hensley, Tim Anderson, Joey Ardrey, Jim Gordon and Leo Epperly.
Honorary bearers will be his former co-workers of Robert S. Kerr Research Lab.
Edwin Bennett
Ed C. Bennett beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005 at home at the age of 55 surrounded by those who he loved, and who dearly loved him.
He was born Jan. 20, 1950 to Ruth and Charles Bennett in Seminole.
Ed graduated from Seminole High School as a Valedictorian and class president in 1968.
He continued his education by attending The University of Oklahoma, College of Pharmacology, where he graduated in May of 1973.
Ed took a job at the pharmacy with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Oklahoma City where he worked for 32 years, achieving the title of Chief of Pharmacy.
Ed was survived by his wife of 15 years, Dawnette Bennett and his children Gail and Greg West of Santa Ana, Calif., Lisa and Jeff Kuhns of Norman, and his grandson Cody Kuhns, and Kyle and Julie Bennett of Norman, and grandchildren Brooke and Kolton Bennett, and daughter, Erin Latham of Norman, and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was hardworking, energetic, outgoing and loved by everyone. He enjoyed playing golf, but his true passion was love for his family.

Arrangements are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.

Paul Bennett
There are no funeral services planned for former Maud business owner and resident Paul W. Bennett, of Vista, Calif.
Bennett, 75, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at his home of cancer. He was born March 7, 1930 in Colony.
He owned and operated Otasco store in Maud in the late 1960’s and 1970’s and then owned the Harvest House restaurant in Seminole.
Bennett served in the United States Navy and retired from self-employment in 1995.
His daughter Pattie Rose and his son Tom Bennett preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marty Bennett of Vista; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Shirley Bennett of Shawnee, Doug and Kathy Tuttle and Jim and Tina Tuttle, all of Vista and Amy Bennett of Washington; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Charlie Webster of Seminole, Terry and Terry McCracken of Maud, Tracie Gilbert Herrara and Kelly and Fred Rivas, and Rocket Bennett, all of Vista.
In addition brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave and Wilda Bennett of Oregon and Elma Bennett of Oklahoma; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nita and Todd Joyner of Oklahoma, Letha Paden of Oregon; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren survive him.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice by the Sea, 312 S. Cedros Ave., Suite 250, Solana Beach, CA 92075.
Arrangements are under the direction of Accu-Care Cremation Center in Carlsbad, Calif.
Ruby Ball Berg
Services for longtime Wewoka organist Ruby Marguerite Ball Berg are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church.
Interment is to follow services at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Berg, 83, died Thursday, April 14, 2005 in Oklahoma City. She was born on March 1, 1922 in Okemah to Edmond Merle and Ruby (Wilson) Ball.
She and her family moved to Holdenville when she was at an early age. Berg graduated from Holdenville High School.
Berg attended Oklahoma Baptist University, graduating with a degree in music education. She taught music at Compton Grade School.
She married Fred Berg after his return from World War II and has played the organ for 60 years at the Methodist Church in Wewoka. Berg played for youth choirs, cantatas and many funerals and weddings.
Flowers, particularly orchids, and the church was her greatest pleasures in life.
Her husband and one sister Alice Owczarzak preceded her in death.
Surviving is her two sons, Rick Berg of Oklahoma City and Bob Berg of Memphis, Tenn; two grandsons and one sister Nita Creekmore of Tulsa.
Maudie Lee Berry
Funeral services for Maud resident Maudie Lee Berry were scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa with Richard Winters officiating.
Interment is set for Crossroads Cemetery in Calvin under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Berry died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Maud at the age of 99.
She was born Sept. 29, 1905, to William Scott and Susan (Arnold) Scott in Franklin County, Ala.
In 1945, she married Wes Berry in Texas. He preceded her in death in 1974.
Berry lived in the Konawa area for many years, from 1945-74. She lived in Guymon from 1974-98, when she moved to Maud.
She was a homemaker and a seamstress.
Berry was a member of the Church of Christ in Konawa.
Her parents; her husband, Wes in 1974; three daughters, Mary Ellen Hood, Alla Lee DeWeber and Wilma Jean Price; six sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
Berry is survived by one daughter, Willadean Elliott of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sons, Herman Berry of California and Lillard Berry of Konawa; 18 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and 45 great-great-grandchildren.
Darrell Berry, Jerry Elliott, Alan Elliott, Rick Elliott, James Summers and Max Sharp will serve as casket bearers. Don Lackey is an honorary bearer.
Exie Lee Blake
Exie Lee (Ledbetter) Blake, age 84, of Seminole, passed away, Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Oklahoma City.
She was born April 23, 1921, in Pottawatomie County to James Robert and Ida Francis (White) Ledbetter. She married Steve Goodman Blake, Jr. on April 25, 1948, in Yuma, Ariz. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1993.
Exie graduated from Varnum High School in 1942. She has lived in California and North Carolina. She worked at the American Red Cross where she was in the sewing department, there she made flags and infant beginners layout for young soldiers’ wives.
She volunteered at the Veterans Hospital in California and has spent most of her life working and thinking for the good of this country, mostly in conjunction with veterans. She also worked with North Carolina’s Future Homemakers and Future Homemakers of Oklahoma.
She is survived by her sister-in-law; Beatrice Ledbetter of Seminole, niece and nephew; Allen and Kay Ledbetter of Seminole, Dick and Kathy Ledbetter of Chickasha and Don and Brooksie Dickerson of Sand Springs, Nelda and Jerry Quellette of Oklahoma City, Mary Frances Dickerson of Oklahoma City, Judy and Walt Spicer of Macomb and John Ledbetter of Macomb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tommy Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
William Bland
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident William Edgar Bland are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home with Larry Sparks officiating. Interment is to follow service at Holdenville Cemetery.
Bland, 88, died Friday Feb. 4, 2005 at his home. He was born on Sept. 6, 1916 in Stratford to James A. and Delia Ann (Rochel) Bland.
He married Edva Lou Shields on May 7, 1940 in Okemah. Bland moved to Seminole from Holdenville.
Work careers for him included working in the oilfield, rancher and as a self-employed driller. He was a member of the Independent Holiness Church.
His parents, three brothers, five sisters and daughter-in-law, Anna Bland all preceded him in death.
Surviving him are his wife of the home; three sons Billy Bland of Shawnee, Bobby Bland of Maud and Jimmy Bland of Choctaw; six daughters, Linda Horn of Midwest City, Lou Ellen Mullings of Maud, Patty Bland of Seminole, Peggy Huff of Choctaw, Charlotte Gregory of McLoud and Pamela Goodin of Davis; one sister Nina Hassell of Holdenville; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the service will be Dwayne Bland, Lance Bland, Robbie Horn, Tracy Mullings, Jimmy Bland, Scott Goodin, Phillip Goodin, Casey Goodin and Tony Gregory.
Eugene Blankenship
Funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident Eugene "Gene" Blankenship are set for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, at the Calvary Bible Church in Bakersfield, Calif.
Blankenship died Friday, May 27, 2005, in Bakersfield, Calif., at the age of 90.
He was born May 15, 1915, in Sasakwa, before moving to Wewoka.
He is survived by his wife Odessa; a daughter, Glenda Guichard, of Atascadero, Calif.; two sons, Billy Blankenship, of Sutherlin, Ore., and Don Blankenship of Bakersfield, Calif.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Zeake Boatman
Graveside services for longtime Wewoka resident Zeake J. Boatman are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Little Cemetery with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
The services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Boatman, 90, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at Shawnee Care Center. He was born Dec. 24, 1914 in Wewoka to Josh and Henryetta Boatman.
He married Veda Novella Boatman and was a retired truck driver at Lillard Pipe and Supply in Shawnee. Boatman was a member of the Church of God.
His parents; wife; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Clara Brown; and one granddaughter, Judy Romano preceded him in death.
Surviving are four sons, Frank Boatman of Slayton, Texas, Jack Boatman of Shawnee, Pete Boatman of Amarillo, Texas and Joe Boatman of Shawnee; one daughter Betty Boyce of Eufaula; brother, Henry Boatman of Wewoka; sister, Bertha Hale of Georgia; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
