Cynthia Jewell Brown

Funeral services for longtime Seminole school teacher Cynthia Jewell Brown were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.

Jewell died on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at the Evergreen Care Center in Owasson.

Jewell was born on Nov. 23, 1907, at Albion to Elisha Thomas Kinsey and Mattie Belle Hammond Kinsey.

She grew up in Bromide and attended college at Murray State in Tishomingo.

It was there that she met and married Lloyd Kenneth Brown.

They were married on June 20, 1928, in Tishomingo.

Jewell continued her education at East Central State University and received her master’s degree in education in 1957.

Jewell taught elementary school for over 40 years, 21 of those years in the Seminole public schools.

Jewell and her husband, Lloyd, were active members of the First Baptist Church of Seminole for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and her husband.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Bonna Brown of Tulsa; her daughter and son-in-law, Jerry and Myrna Fielder of Okmulgee; five grandsons, Steve Fielder, Greg Fielder, Mark Brown, Brent Brown and Jason Brown; and one grand daughter, Sherry Fielder Wise.

She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be made to Evergreen Care Center, 12600 E. 73rd St. N, Owasso, OK, 74110.

Mildred Brown

Graveside services for Wewoka resident Mildred Brown are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Holdenville Cemetery with Rev. Wesley Martin officiating. Services are under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Brown died Thursday, June 23, 2005, at Elmwood Manor Nursing Home in Wewoka. She was 95.

She was born July 30, 1909, to Elvis and Molly (Pitts) Martin in Neosho, Mo.

Brown was brought up in the Sasakwa area.

On March 28, 1928, she married J.A. "Aud" Brown in Wewoka. They made their home in Sasakwa and were the parents of two sons, James and Roy, and two daughters, Patsy and Joyce.

After 41 years together, Aud died, in 1969.

In 1989, Brown married Len Kimbrell, who also preceded her in death, in 1995.

Brown attended the First Baptist Church in Sasakwa, where she was a long time member.

She went fishing, played bingo, traveled, and quilted.

She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Brown was preceded in death by two husbands, Aud Brown and Len Kimbrell; son, Roy M. Brown; daughter, Patsy Garner; one grandson; parents, Elvis and Molly Martin; four brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Calvert of Wewoka; her son, J.H. "James" Brown of Brownsville, Texas; sister, Hazel Lenahan of Huntington Beach, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Marty Brown, Kevin Garner, Jimmy Calvert, Ivey Garner, David Calvert and Keneth Johnson are set to be pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers are Wesley Brown, Lee Epperley, Edwin Williams, Keith McFerran, Mark McFerran, Daniel Thompson, Colton Johnson, Tristan Churchwell, Tyler Churchwell, and James Kevin Garner, Jr.

Phosa Brown

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Phosa A. Brown are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at Full Gospel Assembly of God Church in Cushing.

Pastor Larry Huff is to officiate. Interment will follow services at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Brown, 86, of Cushing, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005 at Resthaven Nursing Home in Cushing. She was born Jan. 8, 1919 to Edward Bartles and Mildred (Fanska) Bartles.

On June 1, 1937 she married Roy Irvin Brown in Kansas.

Brown was a missionary to American Indians. She enjoyed reading God’s word and Lewis Lamar and enjoyed sewing.

Her parents; husband, Roy Brown (Oct. 24, 1998); brother, Lloyd Brown; son, Richard Brown and daughter, Johnna Faye (Brown) Muehe preceded her in death.

Surviving is one sister, Dorothy Young of Emporia, Kan.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Velma Brumley

Funeral services for Seminole resident Velma Brumley as scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, at the Little Chapel, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Lee Estep is set to officiate, and burial will follow at Little Cemetery north of Seminole.

Brumley died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at her home in Seminole.

She was born July 4, 1928, in Cromwell, to James Henry Estep and Minnie (Carrigan) Estep.

In 1991, she retired from Sonic, where she had worked as a cook.

Brumley was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Nina Hallmark, Seminole; three sons: Curtis Brumley of Seminole, Kenneth Brumley and his wife Diane, of Tulsa, and Gary Brumley and his wife Sharon, of Chesapeake, Va.; one brother, Andrew Estep, Wewoka; five grandchildren: Monte Hallmark, Misty Brumley, Kenny Brumley, Scott Brumley, and April Hotulke; three great-grandchildren: Annabell Hallmark, Madison Hotulke, and Shelbie Brumley; as well as many friends and other family members.

Ray Brunkhurst Jr.

Private family services have been scheduled for the son of Maud resident Cassie Hardin.

Ray Brunkhurst Jr. of Texas passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2005 in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was born Aug. 27, 1954 in Okarche to Ray Brunkhurst Sr. and Cassie Brunkhurst (Hardin).

Ray was married for 18 years to Vickie Christ of Choctaw.

He held two degrees, one in accounting and one in computer science.

Ray worked for Cingular Wireless as a computer programmer since its inception and immediately prior to that he worked for SBC Wireless.

Ray donated his body to science, which had been a long time ambition of his.

He is survived by his wife: three children, Caralyn Rae and husband Mark Oakley of Conway, Ark, Leslie Rae Brunkhurst and Bartlett H. Brunkhurst, both of the home; his father, Ray Brunkhurst Sr. of El Reno; his mother and stepfather, Cassie and Ron Hardin of Maud and two sisters, Linda Herbert of Harrah and Connie and husband James Carnott of El Reno.

Ray will be greatly missed by a lot of relatives, including eight nieces and nephews and good friends.

He also leaves behind a very good friend, Walter Clower, with whom he talked every day.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations be made to the Texas Cancer Center for cancer research.

Jack Bryant

Funeral services for former longtime Seminole County resident Jack Walton Bryant are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Jerry Drewery officiating.

Interment is to follow the services at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Bryant, 82, of Oklahoma City, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born Jan. 11, 1923 in Quinton, Okla. to Emmett and Mable (Clift) Bryant.

He married Fern Delois "Dee" McKinney on Nov. 8, 1942 in Seminole. She preceded him in death on Oct. 15, 2004.

Bryant served in the United States Army from Feb. 23, 1943 to Aug. 4, 1944. He was retired as an owner/operator of over 20 years at Bryant Tank Service.

His parents, wife Dee, one brother and five sisters preceded him in death.

Surviving is his son and daughter-in-law Jack Warren and Kaye Bryant of Tuttle; three grandchildren, Tim Bryant and wife Shelee of Seminole, Gayle Ely of Tuttle and Stacy Morris and husband David of Seminole and five great-grandchildren Nevin Bryant, Collin Bryant, Brennah Kaye Bryant, all of Seminole, Paige Ely of Tuttle and Josh Morris of Seminole.

Pallbearers for the services will be Tad Andrews, Roger Cordray, Jim Webb, Jeff Rider, Dustin Drewery, Chad Drewery, Mark Ely and Josh Webb.

Honorary bearers will be Jim McComas, A.C. Bundy, Bob Lackey, Steve Rider and Bill Dulworth.

Phyllis Bryant

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Phyllis Jean (Redding) Bryant are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Interment is to follow services at Wetumka Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Bryant, 59, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 at her home. She was born Sept. 23, 1945 in Wetumka to Dean and Norma Redding. In addition she attended Seminole Public Schools.

She worked at Blue Bell for several years before becoming a nursing assistant at Seminole Hospital until 1985 when her health declined. Bryant was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

Preceding her in death was her father and sister Peggy Haskins in April 1968.

Survivors include her mother of the home; son Tim Bryant and daughter Stacy Morris both of Seminole; one brother Paul Redding of Wewoka; two sisters, Frankie Hamil of Tulsa and Sherry Vogts of Grain Valley, Mo. and four grandchildren.

Ruby O. Bryant

Graveside services for Sasakwa resident Ruby O. Bryant are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka with Rev. Wesley Martin to officiate.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Bryant, 82, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005 in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born Jan. 28, 1923 in Wynnewood to Sam Nelson and Turnie Hucks.

She attended Chigley School and graduated from Davis High School.

April 15, 1940 she married H.T. Bryant and he preceded her in death.

She worked for Big Yank Factory as an inspector and was a member of the Sasakwa Community Club, Ladies Auxiliary and attended Assembly of God Church in Sasakwa and New Life Church in Wewoka.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Surviving is her son Donald Bryant of Sasakwa; stepsons, Howard Bryant of Moore and Delmar Bryant of Sulphur; stepdaughter Bobbie Smallwood of Norman and three sisters, Lanadine Weaver of Cheyenne, Wyo., Ann Saiser of Albuquerque, N.M. and LaHoma McAlister of Oklahoma City.

In addition, she has 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren surviving her.
