Funeral service for Seminole resident Robert "Bob" Eugene Dodson are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Rev. Steve Cline officiating.
Interment is set to follow at Little Cemetery, located eight miles north of Seminole on US 377, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Robert, 58, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
He was born Aug. 31, 1946, to George Henry Dodson and Dorothy Mae (Lewis) Dodson in Washington D.C.
On Sept. 4, 1965, he married Linda Sue (Lemmings) Dodson at his grandparents, C.E. "Charley" and Opal McDaniel’s, home on Reid St. in Seminole.
Robert had worked for his grandparents at McDaniel Casing Pulling from 1966 -1977. He was also a firefighter for Seminole Fire Dept. from January 1977 until he retired January 1999.
Robert served as Fire Captain for several years then Interim Fire Chief, finally retiring as Captain.
He was also a respiratory therapist since 1986 and worked at Valley View Hospital in Ada, until his death.
In addition, he also worked at the old Seminole Hospital and the new Seminole Hospital, as well as Mission Hill and Unity North hospitals in Shawnee.
Robert was a member of the Seminole Jaycees and of the Oklahoma Jaycees. He had served on the Seminole Civil Defense and Auxiliary Police force and was a scuba diver for Seminole County.
One of his biggest loves was in being one of the main organizers of the Seminole Gospel Singing Association for the past 34 years.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, George Henry and Dorothy Mae Dodson and his grandparents, C.E. "Charley" and Opal McDaniels.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Dodson of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Roberta and Greg Moore of Yukon and Robin McCoy of the home; brother, Tony M. Dodson of Oklahoma; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rosetta and Rex Bird of Oklahoma City, Loretta and Larry Swan of Oklahoma City, and Judy and Harris Thacker of Seminole.
Robert is also survived by four grandsons, Brice Daniel Sims, Dustin McCoy and Sheldon McCoy, all of the home and Brady Moore of Yukon; one granddaughter, Parker Lynn Moore of Yukon; and a host of other family and friends.
Casket bearers will be Jerry Bowen, Jim Arnold, Gene Houck, Thomas Mackey, Terry McGinnis and Stan Briley.
Honorary bearers are Dr. Robert Wieck, Terrell Britt, Bob Walker, George Harjoce, David Fry, Ted Hurt and Joe Heffley.
The family suggests that donations can be made to the Seminole Gospel Singing Association at P.O. Box 1358, Seminole, 74868.
PFC Isaac Glenn Dommert
Marine Dies in Wreck
A Marine Corps private, just finished with his basic training, died Saturday morning in a traffic accident near his home in Chester, Va.
PFC Isaac Glenn Dommert, grandson of Dorothy Rammage of Seminole, and son of Anita and Greg Dommert of Chester, died almost instantly in the one-vehicle crash.
A report from the Chesterfield County Police Department stated that his accident occurred in the 1500 block of Meadowville Road at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Dommert, 19, was driving a 1993 Ford Probe two-door coupe, which ran off the road and stuck a tree.
The report shows that no alcohol or speed was involved in the crash.
His mother said Dommert had entered the Marines as a reserve.
"His reserve unit was scheduled to be deployed in January," said Mrs. Dommert this morning, from the family’s home in Chester.
"He was considering going active.
"He loved the Marines; he felt like it was his calling.
"He joined because he wanted to fight terrorism."
Dommert was a graduate of Thomas Dale High School in Chester and competed in football and wrestling.
He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Junior ROTC program.
He was a member of Christian Life Worship Center in Chester.
Dommert was a member of H Battery, Third Battalion, 14th Marines.
He joined the Marines after one semester of college and left just after Christmas for basic training at Parris Island, S.C.
Mrs. Dommert said her son had been home for 10 days and was working with his father for the present.
His funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the House of Prayer, 10500 Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, Va.
Rev. Dennis Lacheney, Rev. Steve Stells and Rev. Scott Harding will officiate.
Burial will follow at Bermuda Memorial Park, Enon, Va. under the direction of Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the House of Prayer.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Toys for Tots, 6000 Strathmore Road, Richmond, Va., 23234, Attention First Sergeant.
Other survivors include two brothers, Chris and John Dommert, both of Chester; a paternal grandmother, Karleen Dommert, Oklahoma City.
Opal Dooley
Funeral services for longtime Konawa resident Opal Jewell (Smith) Dooley were held today at 2 p.m., at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Pam Shirk officiating.
She was interred at Konawa City Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Dooley, 91, was born in Konawa Feb. 13, 1913 to Mark Melton and Marilla Francis (Homesley) Smith. She attended Konawa Schools and Draughn Business School.
She married Tom Holbert Dooley on Feb. 22, 1936 in Ada. Dooley was a homemaker and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter # 78 in Ada.
Dooley traveled throughout the United States and abroad during the years her husband worked in the oilfield. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking.
She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Konawa.
Her parents; husband; sister Bessie M. Smith; brothers, Ollie L. and Norb Smith all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her brother Willie "Bill" Smith of Pawhuska and sister Katy (Smith) Pruitt of Atoka.
Troy Doshier
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Troy L. Doshier Sr. are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Paylor Funeral Home Chapel, located at 412 N. Air Depot Road, Midwest City.
Interment is to follow the services with full military honors at Sunny Lane Cemetery and is under the direction of Paylor Funeral Home.
Doshier, age 76 of Yukon, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005. He was born Sept. 17, 1928 in Ray City, Okla. To Forrest and Mary Jane (Hill) Doshier.
He retired from the United States Army as Master Sergeant in 1967 following 20 years of dedicated service to our country.
He and his wife Betty J. were longtime residents of Shawnee and Seminole. His wife, Betty, preceded him in death in April 2000.
His two brothers, Roy Doshier and Raymond Myers also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his four children, Troy L. Doshier Jr. and wife Karen, Kathy Hibbs, Tresia Rebeck and husband Bill and Roy Dale Doshier; his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Forrest J. Doshier and wife Freddie; one sister, Tresia Doshier; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Frontier Hospice of Bethany and the Veteran’s Home of Norman for their loving care.
Jeanetta Douglas
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Jeanetta Sue (Coon) Douglas are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Rock Spring Baptist Church.
Rev. Jimpsey Harjo and Rev. Houston Tiger will officiate. Burial will follow in Rock Springs Church cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
A wake service is set for 6 p.m. Saturday at Stout Phillips chapel.
Visitation is set for 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday before the casket is taken to the church at 4 p.m.
Douglas died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center, Tulsa, at the age of 52.
She was born June 30, 1953, in Oklahoma City to Arthur and Eliza (Carpitcher) Coon.
She graduated from Sasakwa High School and worked at Big Yank as a sewing machine operator. She was a homemaker.
Douglas is preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her husband, Chester Douglas, of the home in Wewoka; one daughter, Trina Gail Harrison, Wewoka; two brothers, Arthur Coon Jr., Ada, and Dwayne Coon, Sasakwa; seven sisters, Marie Yazzie, Coweta, Linda Tsadi, Krebs, Shirley Wesley, Ada, Rebecca Larney, Wewoka, Greda Hooper, Ada, and Barbara and Elizabeth Coon, both of Sasakwa; and seven grandchildren: Rachel Harrison, Clinton (Zack) Harrison, Hilary Harrison, Tamara Harrison, Raymond Harrison Jr., Amber Harrison, Aaron Harrison, all of Wewoka; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will include Temish Wesley, Micheal K.L. Harjo, Mike Jefferson, Zack Harrison and Walter Larney.
Timothy Lee Drake
A graveside service is scheduled for Seminole resident Timothy Lee "Timmy" Drake at 2 p.m. Thursday at Little Cemetery with Rev. Carl Whitfield to officiate.
The services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Drake, 44, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005 in Seminole. He was the son of Walton and Lorene (Anderson) Drake and born March 12, 1961 in Seminole.
His parents; grandparents; Walton and Lorene Drake and brother Christopher Drake preceded him in death.
Surviving is his daughter Stacy Cole of Seminole and three grandchildren.
Willie Drewry
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Willie Houston (Smith) Drewry are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Chapel of the Chimes located in Hayward, Calif.
Interment is to follow under the direction of Chapel of the Chimes.
Drewry, 83, died Sunday, July 31, 2005 in California. She was born Nov. 9. 1921 in Bluff, Ala. to Sarah Adline and William Houston Smith.
She married Otis Lee Drewry 67 years ago and they moved to California in 1942 to work in the shipyards until 1945.
Drewry worked for Nabisco Shredded Wheat for a short time and then for Borero Manufacturing, a subsidiary of Koret of California, and retired in 1981 after 37 years of service.
After retirement the couple moved to their home in Pioneer, Calif.
She was a member and Senior Regent of the Moose Club Lodge #324 in Oakland, Calif.
Surviving is her husband Otis Lee Drewry; two daughters, Janet Elaine Fernandez and Cathlyn Raeleen Gendreau, both of Fremont, Calif.; one sister, Robbie Bargewell of Seal Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
The family has suggested that donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
