Mary Ann Vulgamore Emde

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 7, 2005 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Chaplain Joe Anglin officiating.

Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Mannford under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.

Mary Ann Vulgamore Emde, known as Granny, was born August 20, 1922 in Seminole. She was the daughter of Joseph Edward and Ada Dell Vulgamore. Mary was raised and attended school in Seminole.

Upon completion of her schooling, Mary moved frequently for several years residing in Oregon and Texas before settling in California during World War II.

She worked during the war as a welder assisting in the war effort. During this time she was married to Louis Emde and the couple had one daughter, Joy Ann.

After the couple's divorce, she later returned to Oklahoma and accepted employment as a waitress and later as a nurse's aide in a nursing home in Oklahoma City.

Upon her retirement in 1970, Granny moved to Colorado Springs, Colo. where she resided until 1981 when she returned to Seminole and then Shawnee for several years.

In 1997, Granny moved to Shippensburg, Pa. with her granddaughter and then returned to Shawnee in 2000. In November of 2003, Granny moved to Terlton to be near her daughter and granddaughter.

Granny lived a very full and exciting life, making many friends from the West Coast to the East Coast, enriching each one's life.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and a wonderful friend to all she met. She remained positive and upbeat throughout her life regardless of the challenges or obstacles presented along her path.

She slipped away into her Lord and Savior's open arms on Friday, March 4, 2005 surrounded by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Floyd and Loyd Vulgamore; sister, Florence Sneed; granddaughter, Linda Ann Mode; husband, Louis Emde; son-in-law, Randall Mode; sister-in-law, Doris Vulgamore; and a brother-in-law, Alton Sneed.

Granny is survived by her daughter, Joy Ann Mode of Terlton; granddaughter and her husband, Lois Ann and Stephen Babcok of Terlton; two great grandson and their spouses, Michael and Tiffany Lucas of Texas, and Danny Lucas and Ashley Pierce of Shawnee; a great great-granddaughter, Madison Lucas of Shawnee; brother and his wife, Andrew and Jean Vulgamore, Texas; sister-in-law, Mabel Vulgamore of Seminole; two step great-granddaughters; three step great-grandsons; eleven step great-great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-great-granddaughter; many other friends and relatives whom she loved very much.

William Engle

Funeral services for former Bowlegs resident William "Lee" Leland Engle were held at 10 a.m. today at Southeast Baptist Church in Tulsa with Rev. Ival Robinson officiating.

Interment is at memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa under the direction of Jack Selby, Bixby Funeral Service.

Engle, 86, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005 in Tulsa. He was born July 21, 1918 in Bowlegs as one of seven children to William Raymond Engle and Majorie Jane Engle.

He graduated from Bowlegs High School with the Class of 1937. Engle has resided in the Tulsa area since 1940.

Engle was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Masonic Lodge, member of Southeast Baptist Church and an active resident of Disciples Village.

He worked at Pure Dairy and also Tom’s Peanuts. Following his retirement from Tom’s Peanuts, he worked part time at Service Merchandise for 15 years.

His parents, brothers, sisters and his wife, Pat preceded him in death.

Surviving is his son Ralph Engle of Oklahoma City; daughter Janie Bradford of Tulsa; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Thomas Ennis

A family memorial service for longtime Seminole resident Tommy R. Ennis is scheduled to take place at the home of Keith and Sassy Shaw of Seminole.

Ennis, 90, died Thursday, May 5, 2005 at Seminole Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born Nov. 22, 1914 in Fornfelt, Mo. to Thomas L. Ennis and Sarah Ella (Mitchel) Ennis.

He graduated from high school in Illmo, Mo. and went to work as a railroad engineer for Cotton Belt Company.

During his service with the railroad he engineered the first diesel for the Cotton Belt Co. and he once served as the secretary for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He retired after 28 years of service in 1965.

Ennis married Lillie Naomi Smith in Illmo, Mo. He was an avid boxing fan, who in his prime won two Golden Glove Awards (1932 and 1934), in the welterweight division. He also once fought on the same card as Joe Lewis in St. Louis, Mo.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seminole and loved reading books, watching boxing, eating home-cooked meals and spending time with his grandchildren.

His parents, wife and five sisters preceded him in death.

Surviving are two children, Sarah (Sassy) Shaw of Seminole and Jamie Ennis of Ronan, Mont.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Vera (Crews) Eubanks

Graveside services for former Seminole County resident Vera Ione (Crews) Eubanks were scheduled for 2 p.m. today, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould, Ark.

Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery in Paragould, Ark.

Eubanks died Sunday, May 15, 2005, in Paragould, Ark., at the age of 84.

She was born in Golden, Okla., on April 13, 1921, to Isaac Richard Crews and Adela M. (Schwamb) Crews.

Eubanks moved to Seminole County as a young child, and graduated from Bowlegs High School.

She was married to James A. Eubanks.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Theodore Isaac Crews, Don Woodrow Crews, Marion Ralph Crews, James Lewis Crews, and John R Crews; two sisters: Mary Elizabeth (Crews) Pitts and Elsa Mae Crews.

Eubanks is survived by her husband, of the home; one sister, Bernice (Crews) Dawson; one daughter, Sonya Hester, of Paragould, Ark.; one son, Michael Eubanks, of Paragould, Ark.; two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Ann Eversole

Funeral services for Maud resident Ann Eversole are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Issac Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Eversole died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at Seminole Medical Center. She was 61.

She was born in Seminole on March 28, 1944, to Ozie Reed and Virginia Clarice (Hoit) Reed.

On Sept. 4, 1968, she married Johnny Eversole in Wheeler, Texas. She was a homemaker as well as a home health caregiver.

Eversole was a member of Freewill Baptist Church of Hannah and the Order of the Eastern Star of Maud, an organization with which she was very active. She was a Past Worthy Matron three times and served as ambassador to Italy with the Order of the Eastern Star, as well.

Her parents and one brother, Ted Reed, preceded her in death.

Eversole is survived by her husband, Johnny Eversole of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Brandy Eversole II of Maud; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Don Goodnight of Seminole; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Connie Reed of Luther; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and David Goodnight of Seminole; four grandchildren, Brandon and Clarissa Goodnight and Ashley and Katie Eversole.

Pallbearers will be Bill Bruce, Billy Buley, Luther Anderson, Randal Hale, Buddy Dodson, and Jim Gwartney.

Mattie Lou Factor

A wake service is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa for Mattie Lou (Bruner) Factor and the funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the same location.

Rev. Frank Moppin will officiate with Billy Harjo assisting. The body will be at the church on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Burial will follow services at Factor Family Cemetery in Sasakwa under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka.

Factor, 85, died Thursday, June 9, 2005 in Shawnee. She was born April 20, 1920 at Holdenville to Dave and Ida (Kernell) Bruner.

She attended school at Eufaula and Chilocco Boarding School. Factor worked for Big Yank as a factory worker in Wewoka and was a member of Spring Baptist Church Sasakwa and the UMW.

Factor was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and her family.

Her parents; husband Louis Factor; son Louis Factor Jr.; brothers George, Dixon and Tony Bruner and sister Lucinda Walkingstick.

Surviving are her four children Ida Goettsche of Amarillo, Texas, Larry Factor of Edmond, James factor of Cromwell and Ron factor of Shawnee; sister Alice Stevens of Tulsa; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pall bearers for the services will be Cecil Moon, Joe Coon, Harry Factor Jr., Tony Palmer, George Johnson and Wesley Meeks III.

Honorary bearers will be Tony Palmer, Richard Harjo and Lee Puntka.

Steve Factor

Graveside funeral services for Steve L. Factor were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Johnson Cemetery.

Rev. Kelley Tiger officiated. Burial was under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka.

Factor, a former Wewokan, died Nov. 17, 2005, in Oklahoma City at the age of 45.

He was born April 28, 1960, in Wewoka to Ida Joe Long. He attended Bowlegs Schools and later worked as a general laborer in Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by his mother; adoptive parents, Archie and Teresa Factor; sister Tonya Sawyer; and brother Michael W. Sawyer.

Survivors include one son and three daughters; four sisters, Pauline Counts, Henryetta, Tina Yarbrough, Gainesville, Texas, Linda Dorsey Smith, Broken Arrow, and Tina Tims, Oklahoma City; and four brothers, Anthony Factor and Donnie Doyle, both of Seminole, Roy Martin, Sapulpa, and Michael Murphy, Konawa.

Tom Fairbanks

Funeral services for Wewoka native Tom Fairbanks are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Idabel.

Rev. Donna Dodson will officiate. Burial will follow in Denison Cemetery under the direction of Jim Norwood Funeral Home in Idabel.

Visitation is set for 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 212 E. Main.

Fairanks died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Texarkana, Texas.

He was born Dec. 6, 1950, in Wewoka to Clyde Eugene and Billie Dean Fairbanks.

He moved to Idabel 25 years ago and was a longtime chair on the Planning and Zoning Committee.

He married Kathy Fairanks on Feb. 23, 1974, in Okemah; she survives him, of the home.

Other survivors include his father; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Loree and John Longacre, Dallas, Shelley and Justin Butler, Ada, and Jamie Fairbanks, Idabel; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Martha Fairbanks, Earlsboro, and Ricky and Felicia Fairbanks, Dallas; one sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Gary Johnson, Dallas; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Butler and Lucas Longacre; an aunt and uncle, Doris and Don Hager; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents Hayes and Goldie Marie Streater.
