James M. Gosa

Funeral services for James M. Gosa, age 82, of rural Tipton, will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Tipton with Rev. Harold Gaches officiating.

Burial will follow in the Tipton Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home in Frederick.

Mr. Gosa passed away on Monday morning, Oct. 17, 2005 in Altus.

James Marshall Gosa was born on Aug. 1, 1923 in Seminole to Norman Mathis and Pearl Thomas Gosa.

He attended Varnum School in Seminole and was drafted into the United States Army in the 10th grade.

After his service in World War II, he returned home and received his GED and later attended Oklahoma A. & M. in Okmulgee.

On June 22, 1974 he was united in marriage to Velma Lorene Saville Boman in Tipton.

He was a lifelong farmer moving from Seminole to the Tipton area in 1951. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tipton.

He is survived by his wife, Velma of the home; one son, James Michael Gosa and his wife YeVon of Tipton; one daughter, Peggy Diane Urquhart and her husband Mark of Plano, Texas; two step-sons, Larry Don Boman and his wife Judy of Moore and Randall Keith Boman and his wife Dayna of Lubbock, Texas; one son, Lowell Gosa of Seminole; two sisters, Hazel Hollon of McAlester and Verla Keener and her husband Don of Van Buren, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

His parents and one brother, Ralph Gosa preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in memory of James M. Gosa.

Ron Grabin

Funeral service for longtime Seminole resident Ron Grabin are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen funeral Chapel with Rev. Tommy Clark officiating.

Grabin, 59, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005 at Norman Regional Hospital. He was born April 5, 1945 in Oakland, Calif. to Edward Alpha Grabin and Irene (Horvath) Grabin.

He married Kaye Eldridge on Feb. 10, 1968 in Sacramento, Calif. and he lived in Seminole for 21 years, moving here from California.

Grabin was the owner/operator of R G Refrigeration and he was a member of First Baptist Church, Seminole Tennis Association and the Twin Lakes Racquet Club.

Surviving him is his wife, Kaye Grabin of the home; son Tim Grabin of Shawnee; three daughters, Deana Grabin of Seminole, Danielle Grabin of Norman and Heather Davis of Oklahoma City; one brother, David J. Grabin of North Highland, Calif.: father-in-law Cliff Eldridge and mother-in-law and husband, Naida and Dennis Knowles.

In addition he has five grandchildren, Tyler Wayne Grabin, Kristin Sierra Grabin, Hunter Wayne Grabin, Brianna Wilson and Cassandra Boyanton: several nieces and nephews, Eric Johnson Grabin, Heather Dawn Grabin and Carlee Eldridge and brother-in-law Wayne Eldridge also surviving him.

Kevin Grant II

Graveside services for former Seminole County resident Kevin Leotis Grant II are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Machpelah Cemetery in Wewoka.

Bishop Charlie Gilbert Jr. will be officiating. Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Grant, 23, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005 in Oklahoma City. He was born Dec. 17, 1981 in Oklahoma City to Kevin L. Grant and Sherry Stephens Grant.

He graduated Butner High School and attended OSU and Oklahoma City Community College.

Grant was working for APAC in the Customer Service Department. He was an avid basketball and football player and a member of Ethopian Reforemed Copticf Church of Christ.

His paternal grandfather, Richard Carolina Jr. and grandmother Faylese Nelson preceded him in death.

Surviving is his fiancée, Dawn Dean of Moore; father, Kevin L. Grant of Atoka; mother, Sherry Grant of Edmond; daughter, Kiara Grant of Moore; brothers, Kaldwell Grant of Moore, Shamir Grant of Oklahoma City and Stephon Grant of Edmond and grandmother, Verdelma Carolina of Edmond.

Neal E. Gray

Funeral services for Shawnee resident Neal E. Gray were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Craig officiating.

Interment followed services at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Neal E. Gray, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 82, on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005 at his home.

He was born April 11, 1923 near Shawnee to Charles and Ida (Cooper) Gray.

Gray owned and operated his own auto repair shop in Shawnee, Neal Gray Garage, from 1952 to 1992.

He married Winnifred McClain June 28, 1943 and they have been married for 62 years.

His proud distinguished service to his country began with World War II, serving in the 13th TABN, 24th Division, Southwest Pacific, Korea 116 Combat Engineers 19th BN and at Ft. Sill.

At Ft. Sill he was one of the last trainees in the Pack Artillery where horses and mules were used.

He was a member and deacon of Temple Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Neal loved god, his family and his country.

His parents and one brother, Franklin Gray, preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Winnifred of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Linda Gray of Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and George Combs of Seminole and eight grandchildren, Sherri Ragsdale and friend Natasha Schweitzer of Norman, Terri Gray of Norman, Kelli Gray McCullar and husband Benjamin of Shawnee, Shelli Gray Pritchard and husband Clayton of Shawnee, Suzanne Gray Pritchard and husband Gregg of Stroud, Phillip Combs and wife Kristy of Prague, Michelle Combs Glenn and husband Sam of Shawnee and Chris Combs and wife Cari of Shawnee.

In addition, surviving are 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, June Schmidlkofer of Earlsboro; three sisters-in-law, Leta Gray of Shawnee, Evelyn Atkinson of Midwest City and Mary Lopez and friend Carl Robbin of Shawnee; one brother-in-law, John H. McClain of Shawnee and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that those wishing to make contributions may do so to the Gidions.

John Grayson

Funeral services for Wewoka resident John Damon Grayson were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Oakwood Pavilion Chapel with Rev. Michael Vanlandingham officiating.

Interment took place at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Grayson, 47, died Thursday, July 7, 2005 at Holdenville General Hospital. He was born in Hobbs, N. M. on Dec. 30, 1957 to Delmon and Barbee Grayson.

His father preceded him in death. Surviving is his mother.

Debra Greever

Memorial services for former Seminole resident Debra Nichols Greever are scheduled for Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Bartlesville, with Father Lee Stephens to officiate.

Greever, 54, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 at James Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville. She was born Dec. 18, 1951 in Oklahoma City to V.F. Nichols and Jewell E. Nichols.

She was a graduate of Seminole High School and her father owned a lumberyard in Seminole for many years during her youth.

Greever attended college in Ada before teaching at Rose State College in the 1990’s. She worked as a registered health information administrator and had been employed in the health field for 30 years.

She liked to garden, with special attention given to flowers, which she then created floral arrangements.

Her parents, brother, Ed Nichols and sister, Sandra Nichols McCord preceded her in death.

Surviving is one brother, Ron Nichols of Burlingame, Kan.

Debra Nichols Greever

Memorial services for former Seminole resident Debra Nichols Greever are scheduled for Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with Father Lee Philips to officiate.

Greever, 54, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 at James Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville. She was born Dec. 18, 1951 in Oklahoma City to V.F. Nichols and Jewell E. Nichols.

She was a graduate of Seminole High School and her father owned a lumberyard in Seminole for many years during her youth.

Edward Griffin

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Edward "Oilpatch" Howard Griffin are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole with Pastor Glenn Pence officiating.

Services are under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Griffin, 93, of Holdenville, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005 at his home. He was born June 3, 1912 in Sand Creek to Marion Edward and Micially Elliey (Houston) Griffin.

He married Velva Opal Meredith in Baldknob, Ark. in May of 1932. The couple lived most of their lives in Seminole before moving to Holdenville.

Griffin worked in the oil fields most of his life before retiring from the Seminole Company.

He liked rodeos, hunting, fishing and particularly enjoyed camping out with his children and grandchildren.

In his later years, family members drove him to Checotah area, where he liked to sit and watch the barges on the Arkansas River.

His wife, parents, four infant children, one sister, four brothers, one grandchild and one great-grandchild preceded him in death.

Surviving is one son, Marvin Griffin of Seminole; two daughters, Lajuana Deloach of Seminole and Anita Williamson of Holdenville; two sisters, Katie Risner of Byhalia, Miss. and Gertrude Haygood of Garland, Texas; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the service will be Roy Griffin, Kevin Griffin, Dennis Beckett, Mike Arthur, Dave Carter and gene Rodgers.

Honorary pallbearers are Gary Griffin, Travis Griffin, Dwight Beckett, Steve Branscum and Tim Miner.

Robert Henry Griffith

Funeral services for Holdenville resident Robert Henry Griffith are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holdenville First Baptist Church.

Burial will follow the service at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Henry passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2005 in Holdenville at the age of 17. He was born May 3, 1988 in Ada to Robert Wayne Griffith and Sharon Kay Harris Griffith.

He was raised in Sasakwa until moving to Holdenville in 1993. Henry was soon to begin his junior year at Holdenville High School.

Henry loved horses and wagons. His horse, Trigger, will miss him: they have been friends since Aug. 8, 1999.

His grandfather, Tommy Dale Harris, will greet Henry in Heaven.

Survivors are his grandparents, Robert and Sharon Griffith of the home; brother, Zachary Griffith of the home; sister, Janette McDaniel and husband, Randy, of Wetumka; grandparents, Judy Harris of Sasakwa and Roy and Imogene Griffith of Sasakwa; great-grandparents, A.G. and Josie Goyner of Sasakwa and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
