Funeral services for longtime Maud resident Hazel M. (Arnold) Hale are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God Church in Maud with Rev. Tim Martin officiating.
Visitation has been scheduled for today from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Interment will follow services at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Hale, 90, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005 at her home in Maud. She was born June 26, 1915 in Dustin to Grady Lee Arnold and Ethel Virgie (Clymer) Arnold.
She lived in Cherry Hill before moving to Wetumka and then Maud in 1931.
On Feb. 4, 1933 she married Clayton Hale in Maud. She was a homemaker and an inspector for the election board for many years.
Hale was a member of the First Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and was the church secretary for 45 years.
Her parents; husband, Clayton Hale (Oct. 12, 2002); two sets of twins, Donald Ray Hale and Ima Mae Hale and Dennis Vernon and Fern Janet Hale Blain; three brothers, Emmit Arnold, Lee "Hank" Arnold and Raymond "Cotton" Arnold preceded her in death.
Surviving is son Ron Hale of Woodside, Calif.; daughter Linda Martin of Maud; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
James Hall
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident James H. Hall are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Seminole Church of Christ with Chris Stinnett officiating.
Interment is to follow services at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Hall, 85, died Thursday, April 21, 2005 at home. He was born July 22, 1919 in Prue, Okla. to Ned and Ollie (Bradfield) Hall.
He married Patsie Mozell Johnson on April 12, 1941 in Seminole and they just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Hall was a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II as a Tech 5. He retired from Skelly-Getty Oil Company in 1984 after 37 years of service.
He was a member of the Seminole Church of Christ.
His parents; brothers, Ralph and Bill Hall; stepbrother Jake Wheeler; stepsister Evelyn Gamill and another stepsister and son Larry Hall preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of the home; son Don and Faye Hall of Lancaster, Calif.; daughter Vicky and Bill Dryden of Gonzales, Texas; sister Ethel Harris of Midwest City; two grandchildren, Rodney and Teresa Green of Chickasha and Gabriella Green of Dallas, Texas and one great-grandchild, Serena Green of Chickasha.
Pall bearers for the services will be Wayne Conner, Charles Conner, Gale Conner, Charles Conner Jr., Toby Aldridge, Paul Lofton, Jack Mattingly Sr. and Bill Dryden.
Honorary bearers are Red Conner, John Toma, David Hall and Dillion Smith.
Beth Harjo
Funeral services for Ada resident Beth Ann Harjo are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Arthur Carpitcher to officiate.
A wake service is scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel and interment will follow services at Vamoosa Cemetery.
Harjo, 24, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada. She was born Dec. 31, 1980 in Oklahoma City to Curtis and Jimmie Lou Harjo.
She was a member of the Tonkawa tribe and was preceded in death by her grandmother and two aunts.
Surviving is her mother and stepfather, Jimmie Lou and Johnnie Harjo of Ada; father, Curtis Harjo of Seminole; one daughter, Desiree Rose Mitchell of Ada; one son, Ethan Harjo of Oklahoma City; one brother, James W. Harjo of Ada and four sisters, Tisha Renae Gibson, Katie Louise Harjo and Jalena Rae Harjo, all of Ada and Wythema Ann Harjo of Shawnee.
Charlie Harjo
Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Charlie Harjo are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church in Wewoka.
Rev. Houston Tiger will be officiating. Wake services will be held at 7 p.m. at the church. The body will be taken to the church Monday at 5 p.m. and will remain there until service time.
Interment will follow services at the Tiger Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Harjo, 65, of Bixby, died Thursday, March 31, 2005 at the Bixby Manor Nursing Home. He was born July 17, 1939 in Wewoka to John Harjo and Melissa (Tiger) Harjo.
He was in the general labor business and had attended Justice School.
His parents; one son, Christopher Harjo; two brothers, Cecil Harjo and Leslie Harjo and two sisters, Imogene Harjo and Lula Kaney all preceded him in death.
Surviving him is his wife, Carol Votaw of the home; son Justin M. Harjo of the home; sister Marie Barefoot of Seminole and three daughters.
Pallbearers for the services will be Jason Tiger, Jimmy Tiger, Junior Tiger, Bennie Tiger, Greg Tigers, Jimmie Dean Harjo and Legus Barnhardt.
Edith Harjo
Funeral services for Edith Harjo, wife of former Maud resident Richard Harjo, are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Achena Presbyterian Church in Maud.
Rev. Gene Wilson and Elder Kelly Tiger are scheduled to officiate, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Burial is set to follow in the Harjo Family Cemetery.
Wake services will be Monday night at 7 p.m. at the Achena Presbyterian Church in Maud.
Harjo, a resident of Kaibeto, Ariz., died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in Chinle, Ariz., at the age of 61.
She was born Jan. 15, 1944, in Cove, Ariz., to John Tapaha and Elsie (White) Tapaha.
In 1970, she married Richard Harjo, a former Maud resident, in Sanostee, N.M.
She was a homemaker and an artist.
Harjo was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her mother, Elsie Tapaha; her husband, of the home; her son, Shawn Harjo, Upper Skagit, Wash.; her daughter, Vahnah Harjo, Pine Ridge, S.D.; her brother, David Tapaha, Cove, Ariz.; five sisters: Maisie Tapaha, Cove, Ariz., Louise Tapaha, Window Rock, Ariz., Nellie Tapaha, Cove, Ariz., Jeanette Martinez, Shiprock, N.M., Helen Tapaha, Farmington, N.M.; and two grandchildren.
Sylvia Jean Harjo
Funeral services for life-long Seminole County resident Sylvia Jean Harjo are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Dorsey Nero and Houston Tiger officiating.
Interment is set to follow in the Harjo Family Cemetery.
Swearingen Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Her body will lie in state at the home of her daughter, Angela Harjo, 1130 N. University, Seminole. Wake services are set for 7 p.m. tonight, at the home.
Harjo died Sunday, May 29, 2005, at her residence in Seminole. She was 51.
She was born May 28, 1954, to Lena Harjo and Lina (Powell) Harjo in Wolf.
Harjo worked as a certified nurses’ aid. She was employed with Wewoka Nursing Home, Country Style Home Health in Shawnee and Gerling Home Health.
She was a member of Cedar Creek Eufaula Baptist Church.
Harjo was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Glenn Harjo and Lincoln Jones; two grandsons, Jacob Harjo and Jeremy Snyder and six brothers.
She is survived by one son, Thomas "Bill" Jones Jr. of the home; three daughters, Lana Jones of the home, Kathryn Harjo of Seminole and Angela Harjo of Seminole; two sisters, Betty Tanyan and Donna Renton, both of Seminole; five brothers, George Harjo of Oklahoma City, Andrew Harjo, Jimmy Harjo Sr., Richard Harjo and Leo Tiger, All of Seminole and 11 grandchildren.
Jimmy Harjo Sr., Clifton Tanyan, Billy Haynes, Kevin Fixico, Luther Carpitcher and Billy Renton are set to serve as pallbearers. Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Harjo Jr., Kirk Fye, William Snyder Jr., Brandon Miner, Albert Tiger and Simon Harjo.
Iva M. Harnar
Funeral services for Iva Mae Harnar, mother of Seminole resident Mike Cone, have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow. Rev. Art Scrutchins is set to officiate.
A private family committal is scheduled at Park Grove Cemetery under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.
Harnar died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at her home in Tulsa. She was 70 years of age.
Harnar was born March 21, 1934, at Broken Arrow, the daughter of Rev. Clifford and Ila (Jernigan) Cates.
Harnar graduated from Broken Arrow high school in 1952. She was married to Glen Cone on July 3, 1954, who proceeded her in death.
She married Dan Harnar on Oct. 10, 2000, at Eureka Springs, Ark.
Harnar lived in the Broken Arrow area for most of her life. She was a member of the Broken Arrow Historical Society and the Alumni Association.
She painted, read, traveled, did needlework and genealogy.
She was a member of the Coweta Assembly of God.
Memorials may be made to the Coalition of Pulmonary Fibrosis or to the St. Francis Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her brother J.C. Cates.
Harnar is survived by her husband, Dan Harnar of Tulsa; her daughter, Vicki Parr of Alexandria, Va.; two sons, Mike Cone of Seminole and Randy Cone of Tecumseh; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Jane Harran
Services for former Seminole resident Jane Roberta Harran are scheduled for 10 Monday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Welch, Okla. with Pastor David Karges officiating.
There will be a visitation for family and friends from 7 – 9 p.m. Sunday at Thomas Funeral Home.
The body will be cremated and a private family burial will be held at Passumpsic Cemetery in Vermont.
Harran, 69, of Grove died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005 at Integris Grove General Hospital. She was born Aug. 29, 1936 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont to Robert C. and Julia (Bruce) Harpin.
She married Marnel Harran Nov. 18, 1956 in Passumpsic, Vermont. The couple later moved to Oklahoma to be close to family.
Harran was an active member of the First Methodist Church, Eastern Stars and the Green Mountain Grange, all of Seminole. She was an avid homemaker and enjoyed her family.
Surviving is her husband; two sons, Franklyn Harran and Howard Harran, both of Mary Esther, Fla.; two daughters, Marja Mayes of Navarre, Fla. and Janel Bedor of Siloam Springs, Ark.; one brother, Bruce Harpin of Passumpsic and five grandchildren.
