Funeral services for former Wewoka resident, Edmond "Wimpy" Joshua Jr. were held today at 2 p.m. at Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church.
Interment followed at Larney Family Cemetery in Seminole under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Joshua, 69, of Oklahoma City, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005 at his residence. He was born April 2, 1936 in Holdenville to Dorothy "Tochee" Tiger and Edmond Joshua Sr.
He and Mary Ann Larney were married in November 1974 and they made their home in Wetumka, but later moved to Oklahoma City.
Joshua was baptized at Many Springs Indian Baptist church in Holdenville, by Rev. A.J. Bruner, and was a member of Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church.
He attended school in Parkview Elementary in Holdenville, Spaulding, Murrow Orphanage in Muskogee and Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kan.
Joshua was a self-taught Indian artist and a wood and clay sculptor. He won many awards and honors for these including a Heritage Award at the Five Civilized Tribes in Muskogee.
His parent; four brothers, Leroy Joshua Sr., Andrew Davis, Larry Burden and Bobby Joshua; one sister, Shirley Joshua and a stepson, Newman Harjo Jr. preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of the home; seven children, Bruce Harjo, Toney Harjo, Jay Harjo, Lawanda Carrillo and Pauletta Ortiz, all of Oklahoma City, Steve Harjo of Shawnee and Ursula Shannon of Dallas, Texas; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition, his stepmother, Sarah Joshua of Tulsa; four brothers, Martin Joshua of Oklahoma City, Travis Burden of Bartlesville, Randall Joshua of Tulsa and George Island of Wewoka; seven sisters, Mary Martin of Little Rock, Ark., Susie Joshua, Annie Joshua, Mary Joshua, Benita Blackburn, Jeretta Joshua, all of Tulsa, Betty Howell of Konawa also survive him.
Pallbearers for the services were Eugene Harjo, Arthur Davis, Cheparney Harjo, Leo Moppin, L.D. Cross and Wilburn Hobia.
Honorary bearers were Jimmy Taylor, Jimmy Joe Harjo, George Postaok and Lloyd Cross.
Lorene Joyce
OKLAHOMA CITY – Funeral services for Seminole County native Sylvia Lorene Joyce are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Vondel Smith South Colonial Chapel, 6934 South Western.
Rev. Sam Crenshaw will officiate. Burial will follow in Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City.
Joyce died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at her home in Oklahoma City. She was 70 years old.
She was born Jan. 3, 1935, in New Lima to James Monroe and Mollie (Climer) Grisham.
She grew up in the New Lima area and attended New Lima Schools.
She moved to Oklahoma City with her husband, Jack Joyce, who preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, James Joyce of Oklahoma City, and John Joyce of Dallas; two daughters, Jackie Joyce and Sandra Tippett, both of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Clifford Grisham of New Lima, and Kenneth "Pete" Grisham, Oklahoma City; two sisters, Mary Hunter of Liverpool, NY, and Shirley Trinarchi, Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Joyce was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Houston Grisham, and a sister, Linda Jones.
Mark Keola Kam
Memorial services for former Wewoka resident Mark Keola Kam are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at 53-215 Kamehameha Highway in Punaluu, Hawaii.
Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery in Kaneohe, Hawaii will be assisting with arrangements.
Kam, 43, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at his home in Kaneohe, Hawaii. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Ernest and Gertrude Kam.
He and his family moved to Wewoka in 1993 and returned to Hawaii in 2000.
Surviving are his wife, Cheryl "Kala" Kam; daughters, Kellie Warrior of Oklahoma City, Michelle Kam and Tracie Kam, both of Kaneohe; his parents Ernest and Gertrude "Nudy"; brother Ernest Kam Jr.; sisters Sherry Evans, Lonna Maile, Debbie Baptiste and Karen Caudle (of Wewoka) and one grandchild.

Gladys Kaskaske
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Gladys Bernice Fixico Kaskaske were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 at Snake Creek Baptist Church #2 in Seminole.
Interment was under the direction of Schumacher Funeral Home in Okemah. Rev. T.J. Fixico and Brother George Mooney officiated at the service.
Kaskaske, 59, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005 in Shawnee. She was born May 21, 1945 in Claremore to Edmond and Magdalene Tanyan Fixico.
She lived in Shawnee for 20 years having moved from Seminole. Kaskaske was a member of the Seminole Nation and of the Snake Creek Baptist Church #2.
Kaskaske was a homemaker who enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
Her parents, one daughter, Teresa Kaskaske and one sister, Myrtle Johnson preceded her in death.
Surviving her are her three sons, Frank Kaskaske, Jr. of Shawnee, Jeremiah Blueyes and Matthew Blueyes both of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Cynthia Herrera of Moore, Michelle Ramirez, of Shawnee; three brothers, T.J. Fixico and Kenneth Fixico, both of Seminole and Samuel Fixico of Shawnee; four sisters, Margaret Hobia of Seminole, Teresa Creek and Geneva Fixico, both of Shawnee and Winona Washington of Bethel; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
Frank Kasparek
Graveside services for longtime Konawa resident Frank A. Kasparek are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Konawa Cemetery with Richard Winters officiating.
The services are under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.
Kasparek, 88, died Thursday, April 21, 2005 at McAlester Regional health Center. He was born Feb. 1, 1917 in Swetner, Texas to Frank J. and Bertha (Baron) Kasparek.
He married Virginia J. Huddleston on June 2, 1944 in Konawa and has been a Konawa resident since 1985.
Kasparek served in the United States Air Force during World War II from 1941 – 1946. He served overseas in India and obtained the rank of Master Sgt. upon his honorable discharge.
He was a car salesman for Charles Maund Olds-Cadillac in Austin, Texas for many years before having retired in 1982.
Kasparek was a member of the Church of Christ in Konawa and enjoyed playing golf, fishing and visiting with his buddies at the local coffee shop.
His parents and eight brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife Virginia Kasparek of the home; son John Kevin Kasparek of McAlester; daughter Candace Moore of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Lee Kasparek of Helotes, Texas and Jimmie Kasparek of Austin, Texas and four grandchildren.
Serving as honorary bearers are Lee Kasparek, Jimmie Kasparek, Tate Waldrum, Collin Kasparek, Milton Courtney, Ray Hill and Jess Walker.
James Dale Keeton
James Dale Keeton, better known as "Jim", passed away at his home in Non, Okla., on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was 77 years old.
Funeral services will be held at Non Free Will Baptist Church on Monday at 1:30 p.m., and Jim will be laid to rest in the Non Cemetery.
Officiating ministers are to be Rev. Gary Dodson, Rev. Joel Kircher, and Rev. Russell Payne.
Services are under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
Jim was the son of Jim Keeton and Lottie (Young) Keeton, born on Jan. 6, 1928, in Collinsville, Okla.
He was brought up and attended schools in Gerty and Spaulding.
Following high school, he served in the United States Air Force at the end of World War II and was stationed in Germany, where he worked as an auto mechanic.
He was, from his youth, deeply patriotic with a great love for his country, and was proud to be awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and the Victory Medal.
When his military service ended, Jim was employed in the construction of lake dams, pipelines, housing developments, and oil refineries around the Bay area, as a heavy equipment operator for the Operating Engineers out of Alameda, Calif.
He returned to Oklahoma when he retired, and lived in Wewoka for several years before settling in the Non community.
Rev. Joel Kircher at the Armor Avenue Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Ark married Jim and his wife, Zelma, on Aug. 26, 1994.
Jim became a Christian in 1995, and was baptized while attending the First Free Will Baptist Church in Holdenville, where he served as usher and board member, and sang in the choir.
After moving to Non, he joined the Non Free Will Baptist Church. He had a unique and highly contagious smile, and put it to good use as the Sunday morning greeter.
He attended church faithfully as long as his health permitted. He loved to sing, and especially loved the old church hymns.
Jim was a genuine ‘Mr. Fix-It’ and had a keen interest in anything with a motor, and an unusual ability to fix anything that needed motor repair - which he loved to do using motor tools.
He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW, and intensely patriotic all his life. He leaves behind comforting memories of his unforgettable smile, and his sincere love for family and friends, God and country.
His parents, Jim & Lottie Keeton, his brother, Floyd, and sister, Bevy, preceded Jim in death.
He is survived by his wife, Zelma, of the home; three sisters, Terry Smith Ralston of Wewoka, Lucille of San Pablo, Calif. and Wilene Hall of Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, A. Leon Keeton and wife Norma, of Texas, and Glen Keeton of Yuma, Ariz.; two stepsons, Ken Singleton of Tulsa and Gary Singleton and wife Michelle, of Duncan; two step granddaughters, Kristi Singleton of Oklahoma City and Melanie Singleton of Duncan; his mother-in-law, Ruby Wellington of Non; numerous other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers are Floyd Wellington, David Giaudrone, Bud Lawson, Millard Wainscott, Ed Harrison, and Bert Lancaster.
Honorary pallbearers are Leon Russell, Harold Phillips, David Byrd, Gary Tipton, Doug Hepfner, and Bruce Roberts.
Albert R. Kelley
Services for former Seminole resident Albert R. Kelley are pending in Arizona at this time.
Kelley, 83, Glendale, Ariz., died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2995. He was born in Tulsa on Mar. 18, 1922 to John and Minta Kelley.
He moved with his family to Seminole at an early age, where he attended grade school and graduated from Seminole High School.
Kelley spent his adult life in the investment and stockbrokerage business. He resided in California for many years before moving to Arizona in 1995.
His parents and four brothers, Dr. George Davis, John, Patrick and Paul preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Alice Kelley of Peoria, Ariz.; son, Larry of San Diego, Calif.; brother, David of Seminole and sisters, Irene Lockhart of Tulsa, Alice Tregea of California and Lela Bennett of Ariz.
Dana Sue Kelley
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Dana Sue Kelley are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Interment is set to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Kelley died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Seminole Estates Nursing Home at the age of 78.
She was born May 3, 1926, to George C. Poplin and Sue Nisbitt in Cleveland.
On Jan. 2, 1945, she married David M. Kelley in Seminole.
