Funeral services for former Seminole resident Fernando Romero Louie are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the St. James Church of God in Christ in Ada with the Elder Charles Miller to officiate.
Interment is to follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada under the direction of Smith-Phillips Funeral Home.
Louie, 43, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada. He was born July 10, 1962 in Seminole to Cecil Ray Jackson and Cora Mae Louie.
He graduated from New Lima High School in 1980, and then he attended Seminole Junior College for two years.
Louie moved to Ada from Wewoka in 1989 and worked for Ward’s Construction for many years.
He married Donna Carrethers on Nov. 23, 2002 in Ada and attended the St. James Church of God in Christ. Louie loved doing all kinds of outdoor activities with his family and friends.
His father, one sister, Chanelle Lee and both of his grandfathers preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of the home; two sons, Brandon Louie and Romero Jones, both of Wewoka; 11 daughters, Autranna, Brittany, Kimberly and Stevie Louie of the home, Brandy and Shatara Beavers and Saviance Louie, all of Oklahoma City, Shanikya Jones and Brittany and Cecil Louie, all of Wewoka and Autumn Louie of Ada and his mother, Cora Lee of Seminole.
In addition, four brothers, Eddie Louie and Tyrone Jackson, both of Oklahoma City and Shawn Louie and Sherwood Jackson, both of Wewoka; two sisters, Yvette Jackson of California and Rona Rene Louie of Langston; grandmothers, Pearilee R. Roberson of New Lima and Betty Louie and nine grandchildren all survive him.
Ruby Lee Ellis Lovelady
Ruby Lee Ellis Lovelady was born on Oct. 6, 1906 in Oklahoma Indian Territory. She passed away in her home at the Methodist Manor Complex on Dec. 12, 2005, she was 99.
Ruby’s mother died when she was a baby so her father, Ernest Ashmore, and her grandmother reared her.
She married Elmer Ellis in 1926 and had three daughters; Francis Lee, Doris Lou, and Margaret Gay. Elmer died in 1943.
Ruby worked at various businesses in Maud in order to put her three daughters through high school and college.
She married a wonderful gentleman, Bob Lovelady on July 1, 1950 in Terral, Texas. Ruby and Bob were married fifty years.
They loved their Seminole United Methodist Church where they were very active in their Sunday school class, choir, and members of board.
Ruby held almost every office in the United Methodist Women’s Group, from President to Group Leader.
The couple was also very active in politics. Ruby held many offices in the local and county Democratic Party and was elected to the State Democrat Women’s Hall of Fame. She was honored to be appointed to the Seminole Junior College Board of Regents.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob Lovelady on March 1, 2001, two daughters, Fran Ziegler and Doris Jackson and one brother, Connie Ashmore.
She is survived by her sister, Leatrice Newkham; her daughter, Gay Ellis Downing; sons-in-law, Dennis Downing and Earl Ziegler; her stepdaughter, Kay Curry and her husband Wiley.
Six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive her.
Ruby has had devoted care givers whom the family greatly appreciates: Mary Alice Smith, Lorene Brown, Sharon Andrews, Janet O’Brien, Jan Miller, Carol Nus, and Faye Ready.
Funeral Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Seminole at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005 with Rev. Phil Erwin and Rev. Gary Wilburn officiating.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the shut-in Ministry of Will Rogers United Methodist Church, 1138 S. Yale, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74112
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Tinna (King) Lowden
MAUD – Funeral services for Tinna Rochelle (King) Lowden are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Louis First Baptist Church.
Pastor Glenn Peck will officiate. Burial will follow in Collins Cemetery in St. Louis under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Lowden died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 36.
She was born Dec. 23, 1968, in Seminole to Tommy Allen and Sherry Rochelle (Fletcher) King Hilburn.
She was a lifelong Maud and St. Louis resident and attended Maud High School, Seminole State College and East Central University.
She received a master’s degree in special education and psychology.
She was the special education director at Little Axe Elementary Schools for the past six years.
Lowden was a member of First Baptist Church in St. Louis, where she taught pre-school classes.
Lowden was also a member of the National Education Association (NEA).
She married Robert Henry Lowden on May 18, 1985 in St. Louis; he survives her, of the home.
Other survivors include her mother and stepfather, Sherry and Randy Hilburn, Maud; her father, Tommy King, Maud; three children, Kade Henry Lowden, Keely Autumn Lowden and Kendra Nicole Lowden, all of the home; two brothers, Tommy "TK" King, Maud, and Scotty King, Oklahoma City; and a sister, Ginger King, Oklahoma City.
Pallbearers will include Robbie, Steve, Cary, Barry and Larry Fletcher and Junior Lowden.
Honorary bearers will include Steve Nail and Farin Coody.
The family requests that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of the Oklahoma Special Olympics.
Archie Lucas
Funeral services for Seminole resident Archie J. Lucas are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church in Bowlegs.
Rev. Roy Roberson is to officiate with burial to take place at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
Lucas, 70, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005 in Oklahoma City. He was born Sept. 2, 1935 in Spaulding to Thurman and Bernice (Baxley) Lucas.
He graduated from Spaulding High School in 1953, moved to Oklahoma City and began a long career as a truck driver.
Lucas drove for several years with various companies, and then drove 20 years with Safeway, retiring in 1989.
He served in the United States Army National Guard, 45th division, in the early 1960’s.
Lucas married Barbara Hillburn on June 30, 1979 at their home in Holdenville and was a member of the Bowlegs Assembly of God Church.
He loved to hunt and fish and watch television in the companionship of his dog.
His parents and one brother, Thurman Eugene "Joe" Lucas preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of the home; two daughters, Pamela K. Mercer of Auburn, Wash. and Debbie Wilkinson of Midwest City; one son, James Dale Carlson of Mt. Rainier, Wash.; one stepdaughter, Phyllis Lewis of Denver, Colo.; one stepson, Max Jones of Seminole and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the services will be Danny Wilkinson, Chris Wilkinson, Bobby Wilkinson, Max Jones, Mike Jacobson, and Tony Lander.
Hiley Lucy
Funeral services for former Maud resident Hiley Levon Lucy are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Baptist church in Maud.
Interment is to follow at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Lucy, 77, of Oklahoma City, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005 at Windsor Hills Care center in Oklahoma City. He was born Oct. 27, 1928 in Maud to Sam and Clara Emma (Templar) Lucy.
He moved to Maud in 1959 and worked at Tinker Air Force Base before moving to Posumkingdom, Texas, then to Choctaw.
Lucy married Ina Mae on March 14, 1963 in Oklahoma City. She preceded him in death in May 2002.
After working at Tinker Air Force Base he retired from General Motors in Oklahoma City in 1990.
He served in the United States Navy for five years during the Korean War on the aircraft carrier "Princeton."
His parents also preceded him in death.
Surviving is one brother, "Rufus" Clifton Lucy of Choctaw and three sisters, "Willie" May Reeder of Oklahoma City, "Tessie" Fay Duke of Buyer, Texas and "Chesta" Geraldine Cowan of Boui, Texas.
Ruth Lucy
Funeral services for lifelong Maud area resident Ruth Deloris (Pratt) Lucy are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud with Glen Williams to officiate.
Interment is to follow services at Cummings Cemetery in Maud under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Lucy, 95, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2005 at Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Tecumseh. She was born March 25, 1910 in Maud to Louis William Pratt and Nancy Gertrude (Lusk) Pratt.
She and her sons were born at the same homeplace that her father acquired in the land run.
Ruth married Robert "Garland" Lucy on Sept. 8, 1925 in Konawa.
She worked at the Harjo School as a cook for 25 years and at Maud School as a cook for 11 years.
Ruth then worked for the Maud Housing Authority, the Action Program and at the Maud Senior Citizen’s Center.
She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Ruth and Garland were also members of the Maud Roundup Club who loved to dance and go to ball games.
Her parents; husband, Garland Lucy (June 19, 1986); one son, Loy Lucy (who died in a house fire in 1940 at the age of 13); one daughter, Lueree Hudson (1990); two brothers, Willie Pratt (1913) and an infant brother Donald Pratt (1909) and two sisters, Maggie Cheatwood (1995) and Mable Miller (1994) preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Nancy Lucy of Maud, Leroy and Betty Lucy of Edmond and Jack Lucy and companion Joyce Townsend of Tecumseh; nine grandchildren, J.P. Lucy, Jeff Lucy, Hiley Lucy, Robert Lucy, Rex Lucy, Lorna Horne, Lueroyce Briggs, Jim Hudson and Linda Adams; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Casket bearers for the services will be J.P. Lucy, Jeff Lucy, Robert Lucy, Rex Lucy, Jim Hudson and Hiley Lucy.
Visitation is scheduled for 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. tonight and until the service time Thursday at Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home at the corner of Broadway and Monroe in Maud.
Mary Frances Lyon
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole County resident Mary Lyon were scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at Hudson-Phillips Chapel in Holdenville.
Rev. Philip Mullins was scheduled to officiate.
Burial was to follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
Lyon died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2004, in Seminole, at the age of 66.
She was born Aug. 19, 1938, in New Hope to Alvie Watters and Mary Lou (Tarpley) Watters.
She attended Spaulding and New Model schools.
Mary worked in the nursing profession at several nursing homes and also home health.
She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Buddy Watters; first husband, Eddie Stanfield in 1958; and her second husband, Jim Lyon.
Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Haggard and husband Mark of Lewisville, Texas, and Debbie Templeman and husband, Stan, of Seminole; grandchildren, Justin Templeman and wife Misty of Seminole, Spc. Garry Templeman of Fort Drum, NY, Michelle Haggard and Megan Haggard, both of Lewisville, Texas; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ethan Templeman; sister Rena Orsborn, Sasakwa; brothers, Jimmy Watters and Charles Watters, both of Sasakwa; Darrell Watters of Morrison, and Ricky Watters, South Carolina; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers for the services will be Justin Templeman, Honorary SPC Garry Templeman, Chris Watters, T.J. Watters, Mike Watters, Alvie (Toad) Watters, Vince Tillery, Stanley Honsinger and lloyd Hunter.
