Tafv Mack

Graveside services for Tafv Mack were held yesterday at the Bell Mack Family Cemetery, with Houston Tiger officiating.

Mack was born and died on Jan. 30, 2005.

He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Ella Mack, of Wewoka; three brothers, Devin, Rylan, and J.W., of Wewoka; uncles and aunts, Thomas and Chris Mack of Cromwell, Felix Mack, Cromwell, Darrin Mack and Lela Culley of Shawnee, Josie Mack and Michael Tiger, Seminole, and Effi Dewitt; two grandmothers, Alice Mack, Cromwell, and Kizzie Scott, Holdenville; one grandfather, Dewayne Mack, Shawnee; one great-grandmother, Geneva Wilson, Shawnee; and five close cousins: Melissa, Sonny, Ryan, Kailas Mack, and Kendal Tiger.

Many great-uncles and great-aunts survived Mack as well.

Mack was preceded in death by three great-grandparents: James Deere, Francis Deere, and Susie Spencer; two aunts, Meleah Mack and LeAnn Mack; and one cousin, Camryn West.

The pallbearer was Darrin Mack.

Honorary bearers were the men of the Fishpond Ceremonial Ground.

Wilburn E. Majors

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Wilburn E. Majors are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Trout Funeral Home Chapel in Ponca City, with Rev. Mark Bagley officiating.

Assisting with the services will be Rev. Micah Wells and Gene Thomas. The family will greet friends at Trout Funeral Home from 7 – 8 p.m. on Friday.

Graveside services are to follow at Little Cemetery with Rev. Robert Majors to officiate.

Majors, 89, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at Westminster Village. He was born April 26, 1915 in Hoberg, Mo. to Mattie Whithaus Majors and Louie E. Majors.

He graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1934 and married Tessie Nell Drewery on June 15, 1936 in Seminole.

Majors drove a gasoline truck and worked on a dairy farm before serving in World War II.

He worked for Conoco Pipeline from 1942 – 1980. Majors and his family also lived in Kansas, Montana and New Mexico. He liked to fish, bowl and joke with his family and friends.

His wife, his parents, his stepmother Gladys Majors, a son and a granddaughter preceded him in death.

Surviving is his daughter Nancy Overall of Ponca City; three sons, W.E. "Dub" Majors of Tulsa, Tony Majors of Houston, Texas and Lee Majors of Bartlesville; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Rev. Robert Majors of Oklahoma City; and four sisters, Katy Robertson of Konawa, Dorothy Hollingshead of Shawnee, Barbara Colvin of Shawnee and Betty Stafford of Bowlegs.

Loyal Eugene Mantooth

A Memorial Service for Seminole native Loyal Eugene Mantooth is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec.12, 2005 at the First Assembly of God Church in Wewoka.

Loyal Eugene Mantooth, 67, of Holdenville, went to be with his Savior on Dec. 8, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Feb. 27, 1938 in Seminole to Virgil Finis Mantooth and Ida Alice Chasteen.

Loyal proudly served in the United States Navy about the time of the Korean Conflict. He worked at many jobs throughout his life, including mechanic, truck and bus driver, carpenter, janitor and in the oil field.

In recent years he owned and operated Mantooth Septic Tank Pumping in the Holdenville area and was also a janitor at Justice Elementary in Wewoka.

He was a "Mister Fix-it" and there wasn’t much he couldn’t figure out. Loyal and his wife, Marcella, remodeled many homes through the years; their own and for family and friends.

His handiwork can be seen all around Oklahoma and Montana. He enjoyed fishing and meeting his friends at the coffee shop and was fondly nicknamed "Walking Eagle" by those who knew him best.

Loyal met and married the love of his life, Marcella, in Lewistown, Mont. in 1966. They moved back to Oklahoma in 1980, but continued to make annual visits to Montana.

Just as his name indicates, he was extremely loyal to his friends and family. He was loved and will be missed by his family and many good friends he made in his lifetime.

Loyal rededicated his life to Christ a few months ago and said it was the happiest time of his life. He spent his remaining months serving others through his carpentry skills, and fishing – recently landing the largest bass he’d ever caught.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Marcella; his children, Sandee and O.B. Boyd of Holdenville, Kelly and Carrie Mantooth, Lewistown, Mont., Vicki and Randy Hansen, and Cathy Mantooth, Poteau, Okla., Phillip Mantooth and Robbie and Loyal Mantooth, Jr, Spiro, Okla.; grandchildren; Kristen, Kaycee and Kara Mantooth of Lewistown, Mont., Patty and Kevin Nolen and Daniella Casahuaman and Cali of Holdenville, Josh, Ellen, Jessica and Regina of Poteau, Carrie of Boise, Idaho, Ashley of Perry, Okla., Tosha and Tiffany of Spiro, Okla. and six great-grandchildren.

In addition his brothers, Richard and Ellen Mantooth, Moore, Harold and Donna Mantooth of Danville, Calif.; sisters, Hazel and Vernon Spears, Cromwell, Helen and Tom Crawford of Muskogee; sister-in-law, Vada Mantooth of Wewoka and many nieces and nephews survive him.

His father and mother and brothers, Charles, Virgil, Jr, and Roy preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, Loyal asked that memorials be made to the First Assembly of God Church, 1301 S. Mekusukey, Wewoka, OK 74884.

Bill Markovich

Funeral services for Ada resident William "Bill" Jesse Markovich are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Steve DeShazo will be officiating with burial to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Francis under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home.

Tinker Honor Guard will conduct the military honors.

Markovich, 70, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005 in Seminole. He was born Aug. 3, 1935 in Union Town, Pa. To John and Helen Spontack.

He graduated from high school in Pennsylvania and married Doris Maxine Whittington on Nov. 4, 1961 in Wichita, Kan.

She died on May 3, 1994 in Oklahoma City and he moved to the Ada area in the late 1970’s.

Markovich retired from the United States Air Force with over 20 years of experience. He served during the Vietnam era.

He was a member of the Francis Freewill Baptist Church, served as a Shriner Klown, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Chickasaw Honor Guard.

Surviving him are four daughters, Helen Gragert, Monica Bryant and Mary Dossey, all of Seminole and Patricia McCurry of port Charlotte, Fla.; one son, Wayne McCurry of Cape Coral, Fla.; three brothers, John Markovich and Louie Markovich, both of Indiana and Eddie Markovich of California; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Ruth Ann Marshall

Wake services for lifetime Wewoka resident Ruth Ann (Johnson) Marshall are scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the home located six miles west on SH59 from the stoplight at SH56 and US270, then half a mile north on 360 N.S. The body will be taken to the home at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Johnson Family Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka.

Marshall died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, in Seminole Hospital at the age of 61.

She was born July 10, 1944, in Wewoka to Everett Johnson and Mabel (Wolf) Johnson.

She graduated from New Lima High School and attended Haskell Jr. College and Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech.

She married Elmer Marshall on April 14, 1984, in Wewoka.

Marshall worked for Wrangler as a sewing machine operator.

She was a member of Hilltop Presbyterian Church and attended Holdenville First Indian Baptist Church.

Marshall was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Rosetta Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer Marshall of the home; daughters, Donetta Lena of Wewoka, Norma Marshall of Wetumka and Kathy Puttkamer of Wetumka; sons, Victor Marshall of Wetumka and Preston Marshall of Wetumka; sisters Fannie King of Wewoka, and Harriett Wisdom of Wewoka; brother, Don Johnson or Albuquerque, N.M.; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Abraham Farani, Joe Farani, Randy King, Lucas Coker, Chris Harjo, and Shawn Williams. Honorary Pallbearers are Scott King, Bill Hoskison, John Hoskison, Preston Marshall, Victor Marshall, Michael Marshall, Ryan Marshall, and Tiny Berryhill.

Hurshel Martin

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Hurshel Wayne Martin are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God in Bowlegs with Rev. Roy Robertson to officiate.

Interment is to follow services at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Martin, 70, died Sunday, June 26, 2005 at his home. He was born April 26, 1935 in Booneville, Miss. to Claudie James Martin and Hazel (Cole) Martin.

He married Barbara Pauline Bruce on Sept. 8, 1964 in Okmulgee. Martin served in the United States Army in 1954.

Martin worked as a farmer and in the oilfield. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.

His parents; two sisters, Doris Watkins and Millie Hendricks and son Jimmy Martin of Seminole preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of the home; one son Jerry Martin of Seminole; three daughters, Michelle Martin of Hartshorne, Annette Cushing of Mountain View, Mont. and Lynn Carter of Miramar, Fla.; one sister, Edith Adams of Paden; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Josie Shepard Martin

Funeral services for long-time Wewoka resident, Josie Martin will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Wewoka. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Jose Aline Shepard Martin was born Oct. 21, 1915, in Okemah to Frank and Nellie (Osborne) Shepard. She was raised in Wewoka and graduated from Wewoka High School in 1933.

After graduation, she worked for a local variety store in Wewoka, and then moved to Okemah, where she met and married Virgil Leon Martin from Shamrock. Due to Virgil’s work in the oil industry, they moved to Kansas, Oklahoma City, and County Line, until permanently returning to Wewoka, where they raised their two children.

In Wewoka, she was employed by Nelson Furniture and later J.C. Penney’s, from which she retired in 1985 at the age of 70.

She was a proud and loyal member of the First Baptist Church of Wewoka all her life, actively participating as a Sunday School teacher for many years, a member of the Women’s Circle; loyal Sunday School member, and served on the church’s benevolent committee as well as other committees.

Josie was also a member of the Dahlia Garden Club and enjoyed lifelong friendship with its members. After retirement, she became a volunteer at the Seminole Nation Museum.

She enjoyed baking for all her friends and family, and was proud to be referred to as the "pie lady" because of her excellent homemade pies.

She is survived by her son, Dan Martin of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Nancy Martin of Wewoka; her granddaughter, Tammie Roulston of Wewoka; her great granddaughter, Danniel Roulston of Wewoka; as well as her "adopted by love daughters," Sherry Andrews of Lubbock, Texas, Vicky Anthony of Ludington, Mich., Jeanie Lovelady of Tulsa, Melanie Browning of Dallas, Texas, various nieces and nephews, and many other of her son’s and daughter’s friends she considered her "other kids" as well as a wealth of truly wonderful Christian friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Nellie Shepard; her husband, Virgil Martin; brother’s Hershal Shepard, John Shepard, and Glen Shepard and one sister, Gertrude Shepard Ewing.

Josie enjoyed a full and happy life amid her friends and family, was a loving and true friend to many, a loyal and dedicated employee, and a wonderful mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She was looking forward to meeting her Lord and Savior, and once again seeing her loved ones who had gone before her and would, indeed, want the memory of her to be a happy one. Please join us in Celebrating Her Life.

Rev. ‘L.G.’ Martin

Rev. "L.G." Lois Graden Martin, Sr., 90-year-old longtime Maud resident passed from this life Nov. 26, 2005 at Unity North Hospital in Shawnee.

Rev. Martin was born June 9, 1915 in Parthenon, Ark. to parents Carlos Cleveland Martin and Hettie Angeline (Casey) Martin.

Mr. Martin married Eleanor (McCullouch) Martin Sept. 17, 1935 in Hazel, Okla.

Rev. Martin retired as an Assembly of God Minister and he had also retired as a roustabout for Sinclair Oil, which was later Atlantic Richfield from which he retired in 1977.

Rev. Martin was a member of the Maud Assembly of God Church where his son Rev. Tim Martin is Minister.

Rev. Martin is survived by his wife, Eleanor Martin of the home; six sons and daughters-in-law; John Paul and Neta Martin of Greenville, Texas, James David Martin of Talihina, L.G., Jr. and Julia Martin of Maud, Lawrence Wesley and Joyce Martin of Sasakwa, Lemuel Timothy and Linda Martin of Maud and Luther Carlus Martin of Maud; four daughters and a son-in-law, Frieda Lee Martin of Maud, Billie Sue Curtis of Seminole, Rebecca Lou Duncan of Sulphur and Cindy Kay and Ronnie Robertson of Seminole.

In addition, 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and a host of other family and friends survive him

One son, Daniel Leon Martin; one granddaughter, Yvonie Kathleen Martin; four sisters, Bessie Marie Hopper, Jesse Lena Self, Vela Dee Lewis and Biva Mae Palmer and one brother, Bois Beul Martin preceded Rev. Martin in death.

Funeral Service will be held, Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005 at the First Assembly of God Church in Bowlegs with Rev. Wesley Martin, Rev. Tim Martin and John Martin officiating.

Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Casket bearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
