Services for Ed McGriff were Monday, April 7, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. McGriff died April 3, 2003 in Soper, Okla. He was 69.
Ed was born Feb. 8, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Charles and Marie McGriff and had lived in the Soper area since 1964. He married Sandra Stoll on May 19, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa.
A retired farmer and rancher, Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Sandra McGriff; one son, Michael McGriff of Guymon, Okla.; two brothers: Bill McGriff of Indianola, Iowa, and Charles McGriff of New Virginia, Iowa; two sisters: Charlotte Watson, Cheyenne, Wyo., and Marilyn Rehvein, Des Moines, Iowa; and two grandchildren.
Following the services, burial was in Soper Cemetery under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home of Hugo.
Casper Wesson
Services for Casper Wesson were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003 in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Chapel.
Casper died Saturday, April 5, 2003 in Hugo, Okla. He was 82.
Casper Wesson was born July 20, 1920 to George Hubert and Loena Gertrude (Cox) Wesson. He married Melvita Duncan on Feb. 9, 1942 in Hugo, Okla. Casper was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hugo. Before retiring he was employed with the United Insurance Co. of America. He was also a member of the Rotary Club and the VFW, serving as a Quartermaster. People may know him best from Casper Wesson repair shop, as he repaired fishing rods and reels.
He was preceded in death by his wife Melvita Wesson on July 11, 1983.
He is survived by two sons, Mickey Wesson and wife Carolyn of Durant, Okla., and Randy Wesson and wife Sue of McAlester, Okla.; three sisters: Helen Adams, Georgia Casolo and Mary Lou Steward, all of Lower Lake, Calif.; one granddaughter, Dawn Ann Wesson of Enid, Okla.
Memorials may be directed to the VFW.
Rev. Mutt Wallace officiated the service and burial followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo. Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo directed the arrangements.
Douglas R. Petty
Services for Douglas Petty were held Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 10 a.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Chapel in Hugo.
Mr. Petty died Wednesday, March 26, 2003 in Hugo. He was 82.
Douglas was born Jan. 26, 1921 in Hugo, Okla., to Roy H. and Ruth Ida (Morland) Petty. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Hugo and worked for the Reed-Wolfe Clinic as a maintenance worker for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers. He is survived by one sister, Joyce Marie Smith, of Hugo, eight nieces and nephews.
Rev. Richard Eckel officiated and burial followed in the Grant Cemetery under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo.
Patricia Sue Brewer
Patricia Sue Brewer, nee Patricia Sue Smallwood, loving mother, sister and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2003. Patricia was born on May 23, 1936 to Lannie and Dolly Smallwood in Hugo, Oklahoma.
She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Lisa Brewer of Austin and her adorable granddaughters Zoe and Mia; her brother and sister-in-law James and Ann Smallwood of Texarkana, Texas, and their children; extended family: Lawrence and Ann Daniel of Austin and their two children Pam and Michael. She is also survived by many lifelong friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Retired at the time of her passing, Patricia spent 20 years as a Human Resources Manager at SAS Institute in Austin. She loved reading, spending time with family and friends, and playing with her grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff of Seton Hospital for their support and assistance over the years.
A memorial service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2003 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, in Austin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Lung Association, PO Box 26460, Austin TX, 78755 would be appreciated.

Isom T. Worthy
Services for Isom Worthy were held Monday, March 31, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Clayton Avenue Baptist Church.
Mr. Worthy died Thursday, March 27, 2003 in Paris, Texas. He was 81.
Isom Worthy was born Nov. 22, 1921 in Powderly, Texas, the son of Lemuel and Minnie (Pierce) Worthy. He had lived in this area most of his life and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a cattle rancher and car salesman, worked for Hugo Feed & Seed and Red River Co-Op. He was a trader by nature and was the “Garage Sale King” by hobby. He married Madie Searles on Feb. 8, 1942 in Hugo, Okla. He was a member of the Clayton Avenue Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.
Surviving relatives include his wife Madie Worthy of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Jerry and Linda Worthy of Hugo, Tim and Elizabeth Worthy of Hugo; one brother, Delbert Worthy, Oklahoma City, Okla.; five grandchildren: Vicky Tollett, John Worthy, Tim Worthy, Jr., Talia Worthy and Joshua Isom Worthy; two great-grandchildren: Jessie Tollett and Harlee Beth Worthy; numerous nieces and nephews.
Rev. Gene Witt and Rev. Bill Stone officiated and burial followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Mt. Olive Funeral Home of Hugo.
Joyce Nadine Williams
Services for Joyce Nadine Williams were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2003 in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Chapel.
Nadine died Saturday, March 29, 2003 in Dallas, Texas. She was 68.
Nadine was born Sept. 15, 1934 in Hugo, Okla., to Albert and Elva (Chambliss) Oakes. She had worked as a nurse’s aid administrator for the Hugo Manor Nursing Home for 37 years. She is survived by her husband, David Williams, of Hugo; two sons: Steve Rouse of Hugo and Paul Rouse of Hugo; two brothers, Doug Oakes of Arkansas and Jack Oakes of Shawnee, Okla; one sister, Boodie Jo House of Soper, Okla., and three grandchildren.
Brother Joe Maple officiated and burial followed in Springs Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.
