Funeral services for former Seminole resident Arthur "Archie" Allen Moore are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay with Rev. Kenneth Romines officiating.
The funeral arrangements are under the direction of the B.G. Boydston Funeral Home in Lindsay.
Arthur "Archie" Moore died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005. He was born on Feb. 4, 1939 in Seminole to Howard William and Uela Moore.
He graduated from Seminole High School and married Joan Sue Cobb on Aug. 14, 1958 in Seminole.
He worked in the oilfield services industry for 44 years, beginning with Cabot Corporation, which later became National Oilwell in Lindsay.
He attended the Calvary Baptist Church and he enjoyed his time fishing, camping, traveling with his RV, woodworking and spending time with his family.
His wife; two daughters, Cindy Sue Grumbles and Deena June Moore; one son, Terry Wayne "Bo" Moore and five grandchildren survive him.
Pallbearers include Ricky Martin, Sam Shipley, Kenny Cook, Tommy Burrell, Tony Gordon and Matt Robbins.
Honorary pallbearers for the service will be the employees of National Oilwell, Lindsay.
Dessell Moore
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Dessell H. Moore are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Pine Log Baptist Church in Pine Log, Ark.
George Harjoche and Elton Pennington are to officiate and interment is to follow at Pine Log Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Moore, 94, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005 in Seminole. She was born Feb. 23, 1911 in Barber, Ark. to Chester Nevadd Godwin and Sarah Jane (Jones).
She married Jessie Webster Moore on March 8, 1930 in Dayton, Ark. And she has been a Seminole resident for 65 years.
Moore was a homemaker and member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Her parents, husband Jessie (April 26, 1988) and one son Jessie Webster Moore Jr. (1996) preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Archie Moore of Shawnee and Sid Moore of Summers, Ark.; four daughters, Juhree Moore of Seminole, Jeanette Dewitt of Roland, Sue Rowland and Billie Faye Walker, both of Seminole; 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Casket bearers for the services will be Glen Moore, Steve Moore, Tony Moore, Tim Moore, Justin Moore and Scott Moore.
Honorary bearers are Sam Godwin, Elmer Quick, Charles Moore and Leroy Montgomery.
Vica Weston Moore
Funeral services for Vica Weston Moore are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuaries Chapel.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband and son in Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Moore, 93, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, April 1, 2005. She was born to George Thornton Weston and Lou Ellen Cotton on March 13, 1912 in Hot Springs, Ark.
Vica was married to Walter F. Moore for more than 60 years and he passed away in 1990.
She had two children, Walter Moore Jr., who died in 1970 and a daughter, Nadine, who died in infancy.
Vica served her country in World War II by working for Douglas Aircraft as a "Rosie the Riveter." She also worked for South Community Hospital in Oklahoma City as a nutritionist.
She was member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Tecumseh and enjoyed the services and fellowship every Sunday.
Having reached her 93rd birthday, Vica took pride in being the oldest living Weston in memory.
She was a member of a large family and is survived by her two youngest sisters, Ruth Goleman of Bartlesville and Strilla Christian of Lovington, N.M.
Vica has dozens of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, all who will forever miss their "Aunt Vicey."
Thomas Moppin
Funeral services are scheduled for Seminole resident Thomas Moppin for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.
Officiating will be Rev. Allen Wood and Rev. Frank Moppin with interment at Little Cemetery.
Moppin, age 81, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2005 at Ada. He was born in Hazel, Okla. near Konawa, Nov. 15, 1923 to James Moppin and Anna (Factor) Moppin.
He attended Hazel Elementary School and was a member of Wolf Freewill Baptist Church.
Tom retired at Holdenville Hospital in the maintenance department and was an avid bowler.
He married his first wife Misselda Tiger April 7, 1961, and she preceded him in death. Thomas later married Leona Johnson Aug. 18, 1985 in Seminole.
His parents, one sister Almira Deatherage and one brother Harry Moppin preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Leona of the home, brother Kenneth Moppin of Tracy, Calif., and several nieces and nephews and a great host of friends.
Faron Morgan
Funeral services for longtime Konawa resident Faron Morgan were held at 10:30 a.m. today at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Pam Shirk officiating.
Interment followed services at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Morgan, 49, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005 in Shawnee. He was born in Seminole Nov. 26, 1955 to Carl and June (Hudson) Morgan. He attended Konawa High school.
He married Roberta Neal on Nov. 25, 1977 and was a foreman for Seminole County District #1 and Ranch Foreman for Swan Ranch near Konawa for over 30 years.
Morgan attended First United Methodist Church, was a member of Seminole County Fair Board, and was a booster to FFA and Young Farmer group of FFA.
His grandparents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his parents of Konawa; his wife of the home; two sons, Joe Morgan of Konawa and Clifton Morgan of Maud; daughter Crystal Graham of Konawa; three sisters, Tifawna Morgan, Ramona Sexton and DeAngela Hicks, all of Konawa and three granddaughters.
Casket bearers for the service were Tonnie Harjo, Allen Foster and the men of Seminole County District # 1.
Floyd Morris
Funeral services for Sasakwa resident Floyd Morris are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, at Hudson-Phillips Chapel with Jimmy Freeman officiating.
Burial is set to follow the service at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville.
Morris died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at the age of 48.
He was born Oct. 16, 1956, to Melvin and Hazel Morris in Bakersfield, Calif.
He was married to Tracey Morris for 16 years.
Morris was employed in the oilfield industry for 25 years.
He was a camper, played dominoes and spent time with his family.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joy Morris.
He is survived by his wife, Tracey of the home; three sons, Zachary Morris, Kyle Moore of Sasakwa and Chad Morris of Okmulgee; two daughters, Sydney Morris, and Kristal Griffin of Ada; one sister, Tracey Kay Morris of Spokane, Wash.; one grandson and two granddaughters.
Pallbearers are Donny Harris, Tom Livesay, Darin Griffin, Randy Coody, Graig Robinson, Royce Welch and Larry Harris. Honorary bearers are Gary Welch, Gary Kilpatrick, Jeff Harris, Kyle Moore, Phil Whitlock, Chad Morris, Martin Cargill, Shawn Ward, Stoney Ward and Justin East.
Hazel Morris
HOLDENVILLE – Funeral services for Hazel Morris, mother of Sasakwa resident Floyd Morris, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Jan. 11 at Hudson-Phillips Chapel.
Rev. Meredith Robinson will officiate.
Burial will follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
Morris died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, in Holdenville at the age of 86.
She was born Jan. 13, 1918, in Wannette to A.B. and Tennessee (Wright) Baxter.
She was married to Melvin Morris on Aug. 25, 1949, in Tulsa. They made their home in Bakersfield.
In 1964, they returned to Holdenville, where she worked at Seam Pruf for 10 years.
She owned and operated Estes Motel in Holdenville for 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Tommie Baxter; and one daughter, Joy Morris.
Survivors include her son, Floyd Morris of Sasakwa; one daughter, Tracy Kay of Spokane, Wash.; four brothers, Adrian Allan Baxter, Holdenville, Floyd "Pete" Baxter, Rolla, Mo., Doyle Baxter, Blythe, Calif., and Donnie Baxter, Bartlesville; two sisters, Lois Rossman, Eugene, Ore., and Dorothy Baylas, Shawnee; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nora Lee Morris
Graveside services for Seminole resident Nora Lee Morris were held at 11 a.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park, in the Garden of the Cross.
The services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Morris, age 94, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005. Nora was born April 30, 1911 in Fletcher to W.T. Carson and Lillie Mae (Griffin) Carson.
On Nov. 28, 1931, Nora married Perry E. (Chuck) Morris in Holdenville. They moved to Seminole from Allen and had two children, Barbara Jean (Morris) Britt and John Morris. Nora and Chuck were married for 49 years.
She worked at the Glass Factory in Ada when she was younger, but spent most of her life as a homemaker. Nora was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ada.
Her parents, her husband (1980), three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
She is survived by her two children, Barbara Britt and Terrell of Seminole and John Morris and Beverly of Seminole; three grandsons, Randy Britt and friend Audra of Seminole, Terry Britt of Midwest City and Rod Britt and Glenda of Shawnee; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Britt and Casey Britt of Davenport and Taylor Britt and Scotlyn Britt of Shawnee and numerous nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.
The Britt and Morris families would like to thank the entire staff at Seminole Estates Nursing Center, who gave of themselves, all the love and care to Nora Morris and her family. Each and everyone gave the blessing of human kindness.
