Services to celebrate former Seminole resident Clessie M. Plumlee’s life were held at 2 p.m. today at Vondel L. Smith South Colonial Chapel.
Interment followed the services at Little Cemetery under the direction of Vondel Smith/South.
Plumlee, 82, left this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 16, 2005 with son, his wife and close family at her side.
Clessie was born Dec. 10, 1922 in Seminole to Boyd and Minnie P. (Brown) Willis.
The things she did best in life were taking care of her husband, her son and family. Clessie will be greatly missed by everyone she touched throughout life. Alzheimer’s took her memory, but not her sense of humor.
Both her parents and one sister, Hazel Hale, preceded her in death.
She leaves lasting memories with her husband Clifford Plumlee of the home; one son, Ken Plumlee and wife Evelyn; grandchildren, Lisa and Dr. Jay Ernst, Marc and Mari Plumlee, Duane Cranford, Becky Blindaur, Jennifer Gutierrez, Andy and Teresa Delgado and Nicholas Legler; great-grandchildren, Ashley Ernst, Aiden Plumlee, Angela Gutierrez, Krystal Gutierrez, Victoria Gutierrez, Galvin Delgado and Gabriel Delgado.
Clifford R. Plumlee
Clifford R. Plumlee, 87, left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior and to be reunited with his beloved Clessie on Sept. 2, 2005 with his son, daughter-in-law and close family at his side.
Clifford was born on June 3, 1918 in Shawnee, Okla. to Emmanuel and Callie (Cothran) Plumlee, the sixth of nine children.
He served in the United States Army during World War II, was trained as a medic and served in the European Theatre. Among his awards was the prestigious Bronze Star.
He was an accomplished businessman with a heart of gold, always willing to help those in need.
Cliff was a man of his word and of great faith. He will be greatly missed by everyone he touched throughout life.
His wife, Clessie; both parents; one sister, Vivian McMillen; and five brothers, Charlie, Alvie, Virgil, Pete, and Joe Plumlee preceded him in death.
He leaves lasting memories with his son, Ken Plumlee and wife Evelyn; grandchildren, Marc and Mari Plumlee, Lisa and Jay Ernst, Duane Cranford, Becky Blindaur, Jennifer Gutierrez, Andy and Teresa Delgado, and Nicholas Legler; great grandchildren, Ashley Ernst, Aiden Plumlee, Angela Gutierrez, Krystal Gutierrez, Victoria Gutierrez, Gavin Delgado, and Gabriel Delgado; one brother, John Plumlee; one sister, Mourine Gentry; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Services to celebrate Cliff’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005 at Vondel L. Smith South Colonial Chapel.
Interment will be at Little Cemetery, Seminole, Okla.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Norman Veteran’s Center. They are truly angels.
Will N. Pock
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14th for Will N. "Bill" Pock at Moore Funeral Home (South Lawn) at their Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Tulsa.
Pock, 61, of Tulsa died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005. He was born in Moultrie, Ga. May 12, 1944 to W.H. (Bill) Pock and Myra Nell Griffith Pock.
He was raised in Seminole and graduated from Seminole High School in 1962.
His father preceded him in death.
Surviving is his mother, Myra Neal Pock of Tulsa; brother, Bob Pock of Oklahoma City and sister, Paige Pock Phillips of Tulsa.
Ray Ponkilla
Wake services for lifelong Seminole resident Ray Ponkilla are set for 6:30 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Chapel. Then, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, his body will be taken to Snake Creek Baptist Church for a 7 p.m. wake service at the church.
Ponkilla’s funeral service is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Snake Creek Baptist Church with George Mooney and Kenneth Fixico officiating.
Interment is set for Little Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Ponkilla died at home on Friday, July 22, 2005. He was 74.
He was born March 10, 1931, in Seminole to Tony Wilson Ponkilla, Sr. and Mamie (Clark) Ponkilla.
On May 4, 1953, he married Marie Johnson in Oklahoma City.
He worked at Shawnee Milling Company retiring in 1995.
Ponkilla was a member of the Snake Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one son, Clifford Ponkilla; three brothers, Tony Ponkilla, Jr., James Ponkilla, and Chester Ponkilla; two sisters, Venus Bear and Frances Ponkilla Williams.
Ponkilla is survived by his wife, Marie Johnson Ponkilla of the home; three sons, Stewart Ponkilla of Seminole, Robert Ponkilla of Edmond, Stephen Ponkilla of Shawnee; two daughters, Ramona Ponkilla of Oklahoma City, and Janell Ponkilla of Green Bay, Wis.; one brother, Martin Rock of Shawnee; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ponkilla, Williams and Bear nephews.
Flossie Potter
Funeral services are scheduled for lifelong Konawa resident Flossie Gertrude Potter at 2 p.m. Monday at Church of Christ with Frank Brewer and Richard Winters officiating.
Interment is to follow services at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard – Swearingen Funeral Home.
Potter, 92, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 15, 1912 in Konawa to Goodner and Iva (Scharnick) Morrow.
On March 5, 1977 she married Joseph B. Potter in Seminole and they owned Hudson’s Grocery Store for 20 years. Potter was a homemaker and a member of the Konawa Church of Christ.
Her parents; her first husband, Clarence Hudson; infant son, Claudy Hudson; and her second husband Joseph potter all preceded her in death.
She is survived by son, Jack Hudson of Konawa; brother, Jack Hudson of Konawa; four sisters, Dessie Ogle of Coleman, Alta Ruth Sebastian of Borger, Texas, Lois Cochran of Ardmore and Thelma Reeves of Ft. Worth, Texas; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Betty Potts
A memorial service for former Sasakwan Betty Potts is being planned.
Potts died Friday night, Nov. 26, 2005, in Springfield, Ohio.
She was born Jan. 6, 1927, in Pennsylvania. She lived in Sasakwa most of her life, where she wrote a community column for the Wewoka Times.
She attended Spring Baptist Church.
Potts moved to Ohio in 1994.
She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Devoss, Ada, and Carolyn Brandyberry, Conover, Ohio; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Edith Powers
Burial for Oakridge Nursing Home resident Edith Powers were held at 11 a.m. Friday at Lightning Ridge Cemetery in Ada.
Services were under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Powers died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005 in Holdenville. She was born Aug. 19, 1906 in Clay Co., Texas to John Anderson and Myrtle Elizabeth Griffith.
She married Lewis Anthony Powers and he preceded her in death, as did her parents. Powers was a homemaker.
Lonnie Lee Presley
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Lonnie Lee Presley are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home. Rick Harrison is set to officiate.
Interment is set to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Presley died, Monday, March 28, 2005, of natural causes, in his home. He was 56.
He was born Dec. 24, 1948, in Seminole to Delbert Lee Presley and Mary Geneva (Yancey) Allen.
Presley worked for many years at Clausings Feed Store in Seminole.
He was preceded in death by his father; his maternal aunts, Helen Earles, Patricia Yancey, Kathryn Kay, and Laura Mae Yancey; and maternal grandparents, Lonzo and Lillie Yancey.
Presley is survived by his mother, Mary Allen of Wewoka; five brothers, Mike Presley of Wewoka, George Allen of Texas, Roy Allen of Wewoka, Troy Allen of Wewoka and Raymond Ward of Wewoka; and seven sisters, Jeannie Jones of Broken Arrow, Donna Harris Johnson of Seminole, Pam Kinder of Holdenville, Paula Gamble of Wewoka, Tracy Reeves of Wetumka, Angie Campbell of Wewoka and Melody Finney of Wewoka.
Pallbearers will be Roy, Troy and George Allen, Raymond Ward, Brian Kinder and John Young. Chris Campbell is an honorary bearer.
Mason Garrett Presley
Funeral services for the grandson of Maud residents Warren and Jerry Bodkin and Bill Presley are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Healdton with Bro. Phil Fox to officiate.
The committal services for Mason Garrett Presley are scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday at Cummings Cemetery in Maud.
Presley, 19, of Healdton, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005 in Ardmore. He was born April 19, 1986 in Oklahoma City to Gary and Shelly Bodkin Presley.
Mason attended Healdton Public Schools his entire life, graduating in May of this year.
Mason was very active in high school sports, lettering in three years in baseball and basketball, and four years in football.
Although Mason enjoyed sports all his sports, he loved being with his teammates even more, on and off the field.
During Mason’s sophomore year he was awarded basketball Oilfield Conference All-Star, All-Conference, and All-Area Honorable Mention. During his junior year, his team made the first round of the high school football playoffs and his baseball team was the Class 2A Regional Champion and made it to the Class 2A State quarterfinal game.
Mason’s senior year football team made it to the Class A State Semi-finals, where he was the starting Center and Defensive End for the Bulldogs, and was chosen A-4 All-District, All-Area Honorable Mention, Senior All-Star and chosen to represent the West Team in the Southern Oklahoma Football Classic Game.
In addition to his sports accomplishments, Mason was a member of the National Honor Society and was awarded the Senior 2005 Masonic Award.
He was a member of the Healdton First Baptist Church. Family and friends will miss his endearing smile.
His grandmother, Jeanene preceded him in death.
Survivors include his parents, Gary and Shelly Presley of Healdton; one sister, Meredith Presley of Healdton; grandparents, Warren and Jerry Bodkin and Bill Presley, all of Maud; aunts and uncles, Herb and Kelley Buchanan of Maud, Kathy Bodkin of Jacksonville, Fla., Brad and Janis Bodkin of Maud, Billy and Pam Presley of Maud and Tony and Carla Long of Shawnee.
In addition, first cousins Brian, Brett, Lesley, Dustin, Kash, Bryce, Chad, Scott and Cara; special friend, Joan Brown and numerous other close friends and classmates survive him.
Bearers for the services will be Casey Powell, Bobby Nix, Todd Pierce, Caleb Brewer, Jordy Martin and Jared Wilson. The HHS Graduating Class of 2005 will be standing as honorary bearers.
