Choctaw County has lost a good friend and a loyal resident.
Kenneth Ray Hicks lost his fight for life on March 29, 2003 after a long battle with cancer. Kenneth was born Nov. 29, 1945 to Della (Smith) and Herbert Hicks in Wilson, Okla., Atoka County.
He owned and operated Hicks Auto Salvage since 1971 until his illness forced him into retirement. Kenneth loved to help this community in lots of different ways. He was an avid racing fan and loved to work. Working was his form of relaxation.
So many lives have been touched by this man in so many different ways. He gave of himself without knowing he was giving. After Kenneth became ill, so many people came forward to give back to him as he had given to them. The entire family appreciated the cards, prayers and other help that was given to them more than anyone will ever know.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother, Della Hicks of Tishomingo, Okla., and several nieces also of Tishomingo.
He is survived by his wife Kay Hicks of the home, one daughter, Tina Hicks Bunn and her husband Joe; one son, David Hicks and his wife Beth, all of Hugo, Okla.; three grandchildren: Kenny Joe Bunn, Heather Bunn and Tae Hicks, all of Hugo; his father, Herbert Hicks and one brother, Bill Hicks and his wife Barbara of Tishomingo as well as several nieces and nephews and a great host of friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Hugo. Officiating were Rev. Jim Moore, assisted by Rev. Doug McClure. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery in Hugo under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills Funeral Home of Hugo.
Terry Don Allen
Services for Terry Don Allen will be at 2 p.m. April 2, 2003 in Jesus Name Church in Boswell. Terry Don died March 30, 2003 in Bennington, Okla. He was 56.
Terry Don was born Oct. 4, 1946 in Boswell, Okla., the son of John Lewis Allen and Norene (Darling) Allen and had lived all of his life in the Boswell area. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Wanda Sue Allen.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at the Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Boswell.
Surviving relatives include two sons: William Allen and Tracy Allen both of Bennington, Okla.; two daughters: Tammy Allen of Bennington, and Robin Graves of Caney, Okla.; his mother, Norene Darling Allen of Bennington, 10 brothers and sisters: Hazel Fay Larkins, Boswell, Jackie Lewis Allen, Boswell, Jerry Ben Allen, Durant, Johnny Allen, Boswell, George Aaron Allen, Bennington, Billy Chase, Bennington, Danny Allen, Albuquerque, N.M., Dorothy Allen, of Idaho, Roberta Allen, of Oregon and Joe Allen of Idaho; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Officiating the services will be Ronald Pickard and burial will follow in Restland Cemetery of Boswell under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home of Hugo.
Doweather L. Bostic
Doweather L. Bostic, 19, of Hugo, passed away Monday, April 21, 1997 at Choctaw Memorial Hospital in Hugo. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include her father - Cleonard Bostic of Hugo; her mother - Douita Bostic of Hugo; two brothers - Cleonard Bostic Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona and Christopher Bostic of Dallas, Texas; one sister - Desiree Bostic; two children - Ronya Dale Bostic and Roena Bostic, both of Hugo; four uncles; three aunts; and a host of other relatives. Funeral services, under the direction of Rogan Funeral Home, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, April 26, in the South Central District Building. The Rev. Leon Gaffney will officiate with interment to follow at Crosley Cemetery.

Paula Lea Rosenbalm died Jan. 8, 2003 in Hugo. She was 47.
Paula Rosenbalm was born May 31, 1955 in Crane, Texas to Edward and Janice (Cooley) Smithson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jon Rosenbalm Sept. 7, 2000; her grandparents, W.B. & Ella Cooley and Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Smithson.
She is survived by her two sons, Bryan Rosenbalm and David Rosenbalm, both of Hugo; her mother, Jan Smithson, of Hugo; her father, Ed Smithson of Highland, Calif.; and two brothers, Richard Smithson of Grapevine, Texas and Randy Smithson of Irving, Texas.

Kala Jane Norris died Jan. 8, 2003 in Boswell. She was 39.
Kala Jane Norris was born Sept. 6, 1963 in Dallas to D.R. and Retha (Todd) Norris.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
She is survived by three sons, Claude, Jamie and Christopher Danforth, all of Van, Texas; one brother, Mark Eldon Norris of Dallas; three sisters, Imogene Cochran of Hugo, Dianna Joyce McCoy of Mississippi and Twalla Jan Norris of Dallas.
