Ray Jackson, formerly of Hugo, died Jan. 6, 2003 at his home in DeQueen, Ark. He was 45.
Ray Jackson is survived by his father, Sam Jackson, of Fort Towson; his mother, Annie Jewel Weekly of North Dakota; four brothers, Earl Jackson of Hugo, Kipp Jackson of Corpus Christi, Texas, Chris Weekly of McAlester and Darnell Weekly; three sisters, Martha, Marilyn and Carolyn Jackson, all of Hugo; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Bertha Robison
Services for Bertha Robison, of Dumas, Texas, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 10, 2003 at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo. Internment followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo.
Bertha Robison, formerly of Hugo, died Jan. 8, 2003 in Dumas, Texas. She was 100.
Bertha Robison was born Dec. 31 in Kingston, Texas to J.D. and Samantha (Kennedy) Griffis. She married William “Bill” Robison Nov. 25, 1927 in Hugo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one son, Jim Robison.
She is survived by one son, Lee Robison of Pasadena, Texas; one daughter, Ann Payne of Norman; one sister, Lucille Hulen of Pasadena, Texas, 11 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Russell Elmer Hamm
Services for Russell Elmer Hamm, of Hugo, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 9, 2003 at the Mt. Olive Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo. The Rev. Bennie Hammons officiated the ceremony. Internment followed at the Fort Towson Cemetery.
Russell Elmer Hamm died Jan. 4, 2003 in at his home in Hugo. He was 62.
Russell Elmer Hamm was born Oct. 1, 1940 in Ontanogan, Mich. to Russell Judson and Lillian (Blankenship) Hamm.
He moved to this area nine years ago from Santa Cruz, Calif. He worked as a restaurant owner, music store owner and realtor. He loved music, home renovation, being outdoors from the ocean to the mountains, and most of all, being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Hamm.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marie & Kirk MacDonald of Lakeport, Calif.; one son, Steve Hamm of Santa Cruz, Calif.; his father, Russ Hamm, Sr. of Bullhead City, Ariz.; one brother and sister-in-law, Chuck & Joan Hamm of Capitola, Calif.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene & Al Sporman of Pahrump, Nev. and Rose & Jim Christenson of Santa Cruz, Calif.; one sister, Sheryl Wilson of Bullhead City, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Ashley MacDonald of Lakeport, Calif. and Tiffany Logan of Santa Cruz, Calif.; his special nephew, who was like a son to Russ, Leo Melero of Pahrump, Nev.; six nieces, Terri, Valerie, Lynee’, Tammy, Tracy and Michelline; three nephews, Alan, Vance and Michael and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Betty (Cody) Snead
Services for Betty (Cody) Snead, of Hugo, were at 2 p.m. Jan. 9, 2003 at the Mt. Olive Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo. The Rev. Bennie Simmons officiated the ceremony. Internment followed at the Fort Towson Cemetery.
Betty (Cody) Snead died Jan. 4, 2003 at her home in Hugo. She was 59.
Betty Snead was born March 18, 1943 in Fort Towson to Charles & Mary (Morrison) Cody. She lived most of her life in Choctaw County.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Charlene Cody; and one brother, Leonard Cody.
She is survived by on daughter and son-in-law, Tonya & Jimmy Diggs of Hugo; one son and daughter-in-law, Tracy & Shelby Newton of Redland; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clay & Shirley Cody of Hugo and Bill & Debbie Cody of Fort Towson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth & Keith Beagles of Fort Towson and Barbara & Brad Powell of Channing, Texas; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty Jo Granger
Graveside services for Betty Jo Granger, of Garber, were at 2 p.m. Dec. 28, 2002 at the Garber Cemetery. The Rev. Wilford Wisel officiated the ceremony.
Betty Jo Granger died Dec. 24, 2002. She was 69.
Betty was born Dec. 24, 1933 to Tracy and Annie Lee (Goodrum) King in Fisher County, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Charles “Bo” Granger; three daughters, Diane Dortch of Carrier, Sharon Hawley, formerly of Hugo, now living in Moore, and Lisa Grimes of Garber; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Ann Headstream of Hobbs, N.M.; her brother, Glenn King of Alice, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Leroy Pierce

Leroy Pierce died Jan. 6, 2003 in Boswell. He was 85.
Leroy Pierce was born Feb 2, 1917 in Dennison, Texas to Sam and Lou (Larkin) Pierce.
He married Evelyn Pearl Clark in Boswell Oct. 16, 1939. He was a member of the Victory Life Church of Boswell.
Leroy moved to Boswell from Roxton, Texas in 1921 when he was four years old and had lived in the Boswell community until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers; David, James, Dee, Selby, Sherman, Jack & Vernon Pierce and F.L. Pendergrass, three sisters; Alice Powers, Bertha Pierce and Ida Pierce.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Boswell; five sons, Joe Edward Pierce & wife Norla of McCurtain, Sam Pierce & wife Christi; Charles Butch Pierce & wife Jeannie; Heavy Pierce & wife Jeania, all of Boswell and Tony Pierce & wife Lisa of Soper; three daughters, Betty Sue Winters & husband Leon of Sumner, Texas, Shirley Miller & husband Larry of Boswell and Rhonda Moore and husband Mike of Paris, Texas; five brothers, M.D. Pierce, Joe Pierce, Elmer Pierce, Sam Pierce and Pat Pierce; 24 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren.
The family received friends from 6-7 p.m. Jan. 7, 2003 at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Chapel in Boswell.
