Michael Walker

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Michael Joe Walker are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow at Cosar Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Walker, 36, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2005 in Seminole. He was born April 17, 1969 in Ft. riley, Kan. to George Walker and Lorene (Johnson) Walker.

He was a graduate of New Lima High School.

His father; brothers, Eugene and Robert Stumblingbear and Robyn Walker and sister Rachel Kaulaity preceded him in death.

Surviving is his mother, Lorene Johnson of Seminole; brothers, Ruben and Horace Stumblingbear, both of Oklahoma City, Daryl Walker of Seminole and Gerald Stumblingbear of San Diego, Calif. and sisters, Karen and Lavonna Stumblingbear, both of Oklahoma City.

William Walker

Funeral services for Shawnee resident William W. "Winky" Walker are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Baptist Church in Maud with Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating.

Burial is set to follow at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Walker, 48, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005 in Oklahoma City. He was born Dec. 3, 1956 in San Francisco, Calif. to Billy Jay and Dorothy (Burton) Walker of Maud.

He served in the United States Airforce from 1976-1978. He worked as an agent for Shelter Insurance Company for several years before becoming a carpenter.

His father preceded him in death.

Surviving are his mother of Maud; one son, Will Walker III of Shawnee; one daughter, Brandy Walker of New Port Richey, Fla. and two sisters, Doreena Hooker and Suzi Garner of Maud.

In addition, his girlfriend, Star Hollingshead of Shawnee and five grandchildren survive him.

Casket Bearers will be Marty Guinn, Lonnie Brooks, Lawrence Brooks, Jasson Meadows, Willie and Waylon Hooker.

Honorary Bearers will be Seth Ryan, Bill Hooker and Geoff Garner.

Visitation will be at Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. today.

Catherine Elizabeth Wallace

Catherine Elizabeth (Nance) Wallace, 72, of Seminole surrendered her spirit to her Lord and Savior, Jan. 29, 2005, at Seminole Estates Nursing Home.

She was born Dec. 15, 1932, in Shellknob, Mo. to Ran Alvin Nance and Olive Bonnie (Taylor) Nance.

She married Robert Jr. Wallace on Dec. 4, 1948, in Pampas, Texas. He preceded her in death Jan. 8, 1998.

She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Ann Mahler and her husband Allan of Seminole; and Sharan Kay Bryant of McAlester; son and daughter-in-law, Roy Allen Wallace and Kathy of McAlester; two brothers and sister-in-law, Alvin Nance and his wife Sharon of Bradley, Calif. and William Nance of Pueblo, Colo.; and one sister, Lena Dean of Sallisaw.

Other survivors include six grandchildren, Sherri Seeley of Seminole, Cliffton Conatser and special friend Kok-Cheng See of Oklahoma City, Michael McClung of Irving, Texas, Tony Martin of Oklahoma City, Brandy Wallace and Arlee Nicole Wallace of Rush Springs; four great grandchildren, Kena Rhoten, Mason Seeley, Logan McClung, and Allison Martin.

She is also survived by a host of other family members. They include sisters-in-law, Billie Whitley and husband Sherman of Seminole, Shirley Lewis of Oklahoma City, Bonnie Faye Anderson of Oklahoma City and Betty Wallace of Tecumseh.

Further survivors include nephews and niece, Bill Beach and family, Steven Beach and family of Covlington, Joe Beach and family, David Whitley and family, Keith Whitley and family and Kenny Jack Whitley and family, all of Seminole, Jimmy Whitley and family of Romania, Robert Wallace and family, Wally Wallace and family of Shawnee, Robby Richie, David Richie, Donnie and Ricky Kincaid of Oklahoma City, Lynette and Barry Redding, Mike Nance of Salinas, Calif., Darla Jean Cross of Pueblo, Colo., Darrell Nance and Keith Nance of Salinas, Calif., Leroy Dean of Sallisaw, and Leonard Dean of Long Mont, Colo.

Special friends include; Jason Seeley of Seminole, Ernest Conatser of Maud, church family from the Seminole and Holdenville First Church of God, nursing staff and administration of the Seminole Estates Nursing Center, staff of Eastern Hills Hospice, Dr. Kemp and the Saturday evening church group from Emmanuel Fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three nephews, Randy Wallace, Jerry Wayne Dean and Greg Nance; one sister-in-law, Bobbie Beach Lasiter; and one brother-in-law, Lowell "Jack" Wallace.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wallace will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Susie (Leitka) Walters

Wake services for Wewoka residence Susie (Leitka) Walters are scheduled for 6 p.m. today at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Wewoka.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Wewoka Indian Baptist Church in Wewoka with interment at Goate Family Cemetery in Wewoka.

Rev. Houston Tiger and Rev. Robert Davis are set to officiate. The body is scheduled to be taken to the church on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Walters died Sunday, May 29, 2005, in Okemah. She was 86 years old.

She was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Seminole to Apler Leitka and Sukey (Foster) Leitka.

In 1935, she married Frank Walters. She was a homemaker and a member of Wewoka Indian Baptist Church.

Walters was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Solomon Walters and Apler Walters; one daughter, Lillie Harjo; four brothers, Timmy Leitka, John Leitka, Elliott Leitka, Frank Leitka; and sisters Bessie Camp and also four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Isaac Walters of Castle, Leon McPerryman of Holdenville, Louis Walters of Haydonville, Frank Walters of Holdenville, Jessie Long of Holdenville, Roy Larney of Oklahoma City; and daughters, Betsy Harjo of Wewoka and Vivian Derrick of Tulsa.

Ernie McPerryman, Leo Tiger II, Thomas Harjo Jr., Greg Poafpybitty, Abe Walters Jr., and Curtis Harjo are scheduled to be pallbearers.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Pauline Wapskineh

Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Pauline Yarbrough Wapskineh are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Indian Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Rev. Gary Hawkins and Rev. Renden Falls will officiate. A 12 p.m. lunch will be served prior to the funeral at the church.

Wake services will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the First Indian Baptist Church, located at Minnesota and Darrow Streets in Shawnee.

Interment will follow the funeral services at the Buck Family Cemetery, North of Wewoka under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Wapskineh, 77, of Shawnee died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005 in Oklahoma City Hospital. She was born Feb. 26, 1928 in Wewoka to Thomas Yarbrough and Susie (Buck) Yarbrough.

She graduated from Haskell High School and retired as a CMA for Sunset Nursing Home in Shawnee.

Wapskineh was a member of the First Indian Baptist Church and she spent hours in Bible study and prayer.

Her parents; two sons, Andrew Wapskineh Jr. and Terry Lee Wapskineh; granddaughter, Ronda Ellis; brothers, John, Paul, Frank and James Yarbrough and Jerry Frank; and sister, Marie Powell preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Laquetta Ellis and Glenda Wapskineh, both of Shawnee; three sons, Tom, Kenny and Ronny Wapskineh, all of Shawnee; two sisters, Gertrude Bagley and Cora Jean Zahn; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Bobby Gene Ward

Funeral service for longtime Seminole County resident Bobby Gene Ward are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ with Chris Stinnett officiating.

Interment is set for the Dennison Cemetery in Idabel and there is a graveside service planned for 1 p.m. Friday.

Ward died Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at his Seminole home. He was 68.

He was born May 21, 1936, to Robert Lee Ward and Ola (Phillips) Ward in Idabel.

On August 19, 1955, he married Clara (Chadwick) Ward in Idabel.

Ward lived in Seminole since 1995, moving from Wewoka where he lived from 1976 to 1995. He worked as a natural resource officer for the Bureau of Indian Affairs from 1963 to 1995 and retired after 32 years.

He was a member of the Seminole Church of Christ.

Ward was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Wade Ward, and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Ward of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Vickie Ward of Shawnee and Mark and Kim Ward of Carrollton, Texas; two brothers, Hap Ward of Idabel and Bill Ward of Tulsa; one sister, Pat Poteet of Idabel; and six grandchildren, Kelly and Crystal Ward, Chris Ward, Stefanie Ward, Blythe Ward and Brenna Ward.

Peggy W. Ward

Funeral service for former Seminole resident Peggy W. Ward is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Ward died Sunday, July 10, 2005, in Oklahoma City. She was 85.

She was born on June 3, 1920, in Kansas, to George and Venus Lyons.

Ward was a member of the Junior Social Workers and was honored with a lifetime membership award. She cooked, sewed, did all types of needlework, and was involved in family activities.

She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Ward spent many hours in service responsibilities.

Ward was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Gene Lyons, and her husband of 28 years, Jim Ward.

She is survived by two daughters, Ranee Wendling of Edmond and Saunda Niblack of Arlington, Texas; brother, Buddy Lyons of Chickasha; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Michael Warden

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Michael Keith Warden are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Interment is to follow services at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

A wake service is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Warden, 37, died Thursday, April 7, 2005 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Aug. 15, 1967 in Wewoka to Robert Carl Warden and Jeanette (Joseph) Factor.

He worked as a roofer and was employed by a private housing firm.

Surviving is his father Robert Carl Warden of Seminole; his mother Jeanette (Joseph) Factor of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Ronald Russell Warden of Wichita, Kan., Gary Don Warden of Oklahoma City and Donald Ray Factor of Enid and one sister Stacy Bequer of Fayetteville, N.C.

Richard N. Wares

Private family services and interment are being planned for former Seminole County resident Richard N. Wares of Silver Springs, Md.

Wares, 64, died March 22, 2005 in Silver Springs, Md. He was born Sept. 28, 1940 in Okmulgee.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Marie of Wewoka.

Surviving him is his son John Wares and daughter-in-law Jenny Wares of Athens, Ga.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Association, Box 366, Glen Echo, MD 20812.
