Graveside services for Seminole resident Jimmie Ray Whisenhunt are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with T.C. Cridder to officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Whisenhunt died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005 at his home in Seminole. He was born in Yuba City, Calif. to William Edward Whisenhunt and Bessie Juanita (Cowden).
He married Neva Rebecca Baxter on Feb. 14, 2004 in Shawnee. He has been a Seminole resident for the past 10 years, moving from Meeker.
Whisenhunt was a self-employed rancher and worked as an auctioneer in Paden. While living in California he worked for the County of San Luis Obispo, Calif.
He served in the United States Army Reserves and was a member of the Community Church of Meeker.
Surviving is his wife Neva Whisenhunt of the home; two daughters, Kelley Milburn of Louisville, Ky. And Monica Whisenhunt of California; one brother, Leon Whisenhunt of Meeker; four sisters, Helen Ruth Burk of California, Norma Sue Eikenberry, Bernice Montgomery and Barbara Norris and two grandchildren.
Sally White
Memorial services are scheduled for longtime Seminole resident Sally White at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Seminole with Rev. John Lively and Don Gill to officiate.
Private family graveside services are scheduled at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
White, 71, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005 at home. She was born Jan. 28, 1934 in Seminole to George and Gladys Hazel (Merriott) Hines.
Sally married Paul White on July 17, 1953 at the First Baptist Church in Seminole. She graduated from Seminole High School in 1952.
She was a homemaker and member of the Seminole Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder.
Sally was also a member of the ESA Sorority, member and delegate of the Republican Party, volunteer at the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum, Bridge Club and of the Oklahoma Federation of Republic Women’s Club.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband Paul White of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Linda White of Plano, Texas and Mark and Lori White of Shawnee; one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and James Cook of Shawnee and one brother and sister-in-law, Billy George and Suzi Hines of Eufaula.
Sally is also survived by ten grandchildren; Windy Muehleisen, Jennifer, Jamie and Jill Smart, Blake and Kolby White, and Jeff, Sean, Chase and Mikey White and two great grandchildren, Andy and Brooklyn White.
Gertie White
Funeral services for longtime Sasakwa resident Gertie White were held today at 2 p.m. at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmie Freeman officiating.
Rev. Meredith Robinson and Rev. Richard Schuyler assisted in the services. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
White, 90, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005 in a nursing home in Holdenville. She was born Nov. 7, 1915 in Boles, Ark. to Elzy Claud House and Lora Bell (Slagle) House.
She married Finis White Jan. 9, 1936 and they have lived in the Sasakwa community since 1928.
White attended Sasakwa School and was a housewife. She was a member and trustee of Harvest Time Tabernacle Church of Holdenville for 45 years.
Her parents; husband; four brothers, David Abraham House, Johnnie Richman House, Andrew Merit House and Elmer Lee House and three sisters, Willie Catherine House, Emmer Roseberry and Ada Mae Crump all preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sisters, Minnie Sherfield of Sasakwa, Nellie Frances Stringfellow of Calvin and Lula Mae Crump of Wewoka.
Pallbearers for the services were Chaney Clark, Chris Clark, Daniel Clark, Mickey Conley, David Jones and Steven Jones.
Honorary bearers were Claud Clark, David Crump, Edward Crump, Randall Streetman, Glenn Stringfellow and Jesse Blackburn.
Gordon White
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Gordon W. White are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Larry McMains and Rev. Tommy Clark officiating.
Interment is to follow services at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
White, 89, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 at Seminole Medical Center. He was born Oct. 3, 1915 in Mulberry, Ark. to Thomas Jefferson and Carrie Alice (Deaton) White.
He married Bertha Mae Southard on Sept. 29, 1938 in Shawnee. She preceded him in death on May 11, 1992.
White worked as a driller in the oilfield; worked at Gibson’s for many years and also at Faye Cheatham’s Service Station.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seminole, where he and worked as an usher and shepherd for many years. White was saved on April 14, 1963 and baptized on April 15, 1963.
His parents; two brothers, Albert and Odis White; two sisters, Emily Drewery and Magnolia Oxborn and one great-grandchild, Dillon Brewer (in 1997) preceded him in death.
Surviving him is his son and daughter-in-law, Eldon and Carol White of Lake Jackson, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bedford Brewer of Seminole; four grandchildren, Larry David Brewer of Seminole, Michael K. Brewer of Piedmont, Jennifer Lynn White of Houston, Texas and Melissa Anne Genre of Lake Jackson, Texas.
In addition one adopted granddaughter, Marjorie Knighton of Houston, Texas and four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Parker Brewer of Piedmont and Zachary Genre and Meagan Genre of Lake Jackson, Texas also survive him.
Casket bearers for the services will be Pinky Coates, Ron Sheppard, Kenneth Mendenhall, Denver White, Miles White and Don Raney.
Harold White
Funeral services for Houston Lee White, 87, of Durant, will be 2 p.m, Monday, July 25, at the Northwest Church of Christ in Durant.
Jerry Garland will officiate. Brown’s Funeral Service of Durant will conduct the services.
Houston passed away, Thursday, July 21, 2005.
Houston was born Jan. 31, 1928 in Kendrick to Joe Thomas and Lillian Jane (Carrithers) White.
Houston served in the Navy submarine service and was a retired engine operator for Phillips Petroleum.
He was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ.
Houston enjoyed going to the movies, and will be missed by all who knew him.
Houston was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lillian White, and a daughter, Patricia Jo Johnson.
Survivors include wife, Sarah Nell White of the home; daughters, Lanita Jane Day and husband Vernon, Wellington, Texas, Sharon Sue Owens and husband Bill, Sapulpa, and Mona Imogene Ingram and husband Tom, Vancouver, Wash.; son Foy Thomas White of Durant; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren; siblings Wayne Lee, David Lee, G.W. Lee, Charlotte Thompson, Edna Grimm, and Juanita Heck; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Family hour will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Little Cemetery, Seminole, at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26 with Dale Day, Tony Day, Tracy Day, Terry Day, Karl White, Christopher Day, Joey Day, and Jeff Day serving as pallbearers.
Mark Alan Whitley
Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Mark Alan Whitley are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh.
Rev. Glen Peck, Rev. Darrell Witten and Rev. William Brown are to officiate the services.
Interment will follow at Romulus Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
Whitley, 44, of St. Louis, Okla., passed away Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005 in Oklahoma City. He was born July 5, 1961 in Shawnee to Robert Lee and Belva Jean (Brown) Whitley.
He was reared in Pearson and attended St, Louis Grade School.
Whitley attended high school at Asher and Maud and was a 1979 graduate of Maud High School. He then attended St. Gregory’s College, Seminole Junior College and East Central University.
In April 1988 he married Debra Hoover of Shawnee and he owned and operated One Stop Kountry Store at the Macomb "Y" for the past 18 years.
He enjoyed being a father to his daughter and was an avid coin collector.
Surviving is his wife, Debra Whitley of the home; daughter, Megan Whitley of the home; parents, Robert and Belva Whitley of Pearson; one sister and brother-in-law, Jana and Russ Skinner of Norman; one niece, Maris Skinner of Norman and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chris Whitson
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Chris C. Whitson are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield to officiate.
Interment is to follow services at little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Whitson, 88, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Dec. 28, 1916 in Okemah to Chris Whitson Sr. and Kate (Rutland) Whitson Lewis.
He married Mary Nell Whitson on Aug. 15, 1953 in Durant. He worked in the oilfield in trucking with O.L. Harvey, and then he had his own trucking company in Leatha.
Whitson was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, and had received a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart awards. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
His parents; wife, Mary Whitson (April 9, 2003); son Chuck Whitson and one sister, Edina Dutton preceded him in death.
Surviving him is his son Bob Whitson of Montgomery, Texas; stepson Phil Mizera of Claremore; daughter Vickey Russell of Green Valley, Ariz.; stepdaughter Brenda Payne of Seminole; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Norman Hadley Wilburn
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Norman Hadley Wilburn are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole with interment at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Rev. Norman H. Wilburn was born Dec. 20, 1915 in Stratford to Harvey Nathaniel (Blackie) Wilburn and Leona Margaret (Neal) Wilburn and died on Wednesday July 27, 2005 at home in Shell Knob, Mo.
He graduated from Drumright High School in 1934 and was married to Florence B. (Adams) Wilburn on Sep 27, 1936 in Seminole. They were married 66 years before her death on Jan. 5, 2002. To this union were born five children; three daughters and two sons.
When he married, he worked for Epperley Grocery in Seminole. He then worked for the Hi-Lo Bakery before going to Sunshine Grocery in Seminole where he was the managing partner until 1951 when he left the grocery business to enter the ministry full time.
Licensed by the Oklahoma District Council of the Assemblies of God in 1951, he was ordained by the Arkansas District of the Assemblies of God in 1953.
He pastored eight Assemblies of God churches in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. In November of 2001 he received his 50 year ministry pin at the Oklahoma District Council, and on Nov. 11, 2003 he received a Certificate of Recognition celebrating 50 years of his ordination.
When he retired in 1987, he lived on Table Rock Lake near Shell Knob, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and two sisters, Pauline Wilburn and Opal J. (Wilburn) Beauford.
Norman is survived by his children: Norma Dutton of Shell Knob, Mo; Bill Wilburn of Beggs; Don Wilburn of Stroud; Linda Eshnaur of Bentonville, Ark.; Cynthia Ortega of Rocky Ford, Colo.; sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; two brothers Harold Wilburn of Broken Arrow and Lloyd Wilburn of Shawnee.
