Services for Donald George "Sockey" Bailey will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Middle Creek Indian Baptist Church #2 in Holdenville with Rev. Frank Moppin and Rev. Tom Bear officiating.
Wake services will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel; the body will be taken to the Church Friday at 3 p.m. for the wake service.
Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
"Sockey" passed away in Tulsa, at St. Francis Hospital at the age of 71 years. He was born May 21, 1935 in Holdenville, the first-born child of Marchie and Irene Walker Bailey.
Sock graduated from Chilocco Boarding School, Chilocco, Okla.
His career was in the Aircraft Industry where he retired from Douglas Aircraft as a Manufacturing Planning Engineer and continued to do contract work in various states.
Preceding him in death was his dad, Marchie Bailey, a brother Kenneth Bailey and a sister Viola Bailey Norman.
Surviving is his mother, Irene Bailey of Wewoka; his wife, Inell Bailey of their home; three sons, Gregory Bailey of Tulsa, George Bailey of Boswell, Okla. and Don Bailey, Jr. of Tulsa; two brothers, William Bailey of Tulsa and Gene Harjo of Shawnee; four sisters, Sally Williams of Ponca City, Linda Buck of Holdenville, Shirley Chambers of Wewoka, and Alene Miller of Wewoka.
Sock leaves behind one granddaughter, DaLynn Bailey of Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandsons, Kenneth Bailey, Albuquerque, N.M. and Michael Bailey of Lawrence Kan. and one great-granddaughter, Starlitt Ivie Garfield of Phoenix, Ariz.
Serving as casket bearers will be Kenneth Bailey, Michael Bailey, Brian Chambers, Mark Miller, Eric Bailey and Stanton Westmoreland.
Honorary bearers for the services will be Patty Fairless, Artman Tiger, Larry Ragland, Arthur Bruner, Allen Harjo, Dan Tiger, Jerry Walker, Dan Sanford and Barry Switzer.
Martha Barker
Graveside services for former Maud resident and business owner, Martha Barker are scheduled for 2 p.m. at Rosehill Cemetery in Ardmore.
Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.
Barker, 84 of Tecumseh, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006 in Shawnee. She was born Feb. 4, 1922 in Canton, Texas to Edgar Andrew Strebeck and Ida Mae (Woodruff) Strebeck.
She married Lewis Raymond Mitchell on May 29, 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1963.
Later she married Edward Tracy Barker and he too preceded her in death in 1991.
Barker was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, where she lived for 30 years before moving to Tecumseh. She was a member of the Shawnee Rebekah Lodge #271.
She operated Globe Confectionery in Ardmore, Oklahoma and operated two nursing homes in Wilson. She also had worked at Lantz drugstore in Shawnee and operated a restaurant in Marietta, Okla.
Barker also enjoyed her work at the Maud School Cafeteria and operated a restaurant with her daughter in Maud. She was head cook at Maud Nutrician Center for several years and was also a homecare provider until 1999.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, pets and fishing. She enjoyed playing the fiddle, guitar, singing and piecing quilts.
Her two husbands; two grandchildren, Deborah Mitchell and Buddy Dean Mitchell; three sisters, Lillie Harrison, Minnie Donahou and Myrt Smith and three brothers, Dutch, Archie and George Strebeck.
Surviving is one son, Louis Ray "Buddy" Mitchell of Tecumseh; one daughter, Edna Montgomery of Tecumseh; 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Casket bearers will be grandsons, James Renfro, Dawayne Renfro, Danny Cramer, Rocky Mitchell, Buddy Allen Mitchell and Robbie Mitchell.
Carl Barnes
Funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident Carl C. Barnes are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carol Reich and Rev. Amanda Lockwood officiating.
Interment is to follow at Dustin Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Carl passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006 at the Veterans Center in Sulphur at the age of 87. He was born Sept. 9, 1919 in Lamar, Okla. to Edward M. and Eva (Smith) Barnes.
He graduated from New Lima High School and married Imogene Seward on Aug. 4, 1951 in Van Buren, Ark.
Carl was employed by the Plumbers Pipe Fitters Union, traveling all over the United States doing industrial construction.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wewoka. He enjoyed the fellowship at the VFW, American Legion and the Methodist Men’s Prayer Breakfast.
Carl served in the United States Army during World War II, earning two bronze stars and one bronze arrowhead while serving three years in Sicily, Italy and time in Germany and France.
He enjoyed gardening, traveling and visiting with his family and friends.
His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Imogene of the home; daughter, Susann Anderson and husband, George, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; brothers, Leon Barnes and wife, Alma and Darrell Barnes, all of Wewoka; sisters, Monnie Reich and Hazel Morphis, both of Wewoka and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
James Barnes
Funeral services for Seminole resident James "Jim" Barnes are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Twin Oaks Baptist Church with Rev. Forrest Weast officiating.
Burial will be at Little Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
Barnes, 68, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006 in Seminole. He was born May 2, 1938 in Dumas, Ark. to Garner and Versie (Scott) Barnes.
He was raised in Tiller, Ark. and lived in California following graduation. In 1963 he moved back to Oklahoma City, also living in Shawnee before moving to Seminole in 1972.
On June 19, 1964 he married Betty Henson in Paris, Texas. He was a plaster pattern maker in the aircraft industry, working for Rockwell International Gulf Stream, Lear, Bell Helicopter and Nordam.
He was one of only three pattern makers in the United States.
Barnes was a member of the Twin Oaks Baptist Church and Tool and Dye Makers. He enjoyed fiberglass fabricating, bluegrass music, hunting and fishing.
His father preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife Betty of the home; four sons, Tim Barnes of Seminole, Ronnie Barnes of Tecumseh, Roger Barnes of Seminole and David Barnes of Earlsboro; his mother, Versie Barnes of Little Rock, Ark.; brother, Jerry Wayne Barnes of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Geneva Horton of Little Rock, Ark. and Kathy Dogget of Eastland, Texas and seven grandchildren.
James Baser
Funeral services for Seminole resident, James Theodore Baser, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
James Theodore Baser passed away on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006 at the age of 84 at his home. He was born on Jan. 18, 1922 to Lewis Franklin and Ica Dora (Roberts) Baser in Fairland, Okla.
He married Ruth Stuart Baser in 1991 in Winnsboro, Texas she preceded him in death on June 1, 2003.
James was a homebuilder and a construction superintendent for LaQuinta Inns for many years; he retired at the age of 62. He is a member of the Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by sons, Darrell Baser of Balch Springs, Texas and Steve Baser of Carrollton, Texas; daughter, Carolyn Kernal of Seminole; three brothers, Gerald Baser of Grove, Owen Baser of Sacramento, Calif. and Hershel Baser of Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Wanda (Aileen) Swartz of Phoenix, Ariz., Reva Allee of Aurora, Colo. and Thelma Poindexter of Clovis, Calif.; four grandchildren, Denice, Lane, Chad Kernal and Josh Baser and five great grandchildren, Ali, Kade, Cassidy, Brendan and Rachel.
The mother of his children Vera Baser, his parents, wife Ruth Baser and grandson Chris Baser precedes him in death.
Pallbearers will be Gene Kernal, Thad Ashcraft, Joe Peepers, Morris Jackson, Randy Ashcraft and Jim Grant.
Honorary Bearers will be Gene Garrett, Byrl Garrett, and Kenneth Harbeston.
George Wallace Bear
Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident George Wallace Bear are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Snake Creek Indian Baptist Church with a burial to follow at the family cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Bear died on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006 at the age of 43.
He was born on May 8, 1963 to Wiley and Rachel Marie (Larney) Bear in Wewoka.
He worked for Wrangler for several years until he became disabled. He was a graduate of Strother High School in 1981.
His paternal and maternal grandparents, his adopted father, Thomas Bear and a great nephew, Zackary Johnson, precede him in death.
Surviving is his mother, Rachel Bear of Shawnee and Wiley Bear of Mississippi; one son, Cristoff Bear of Seminole; two daughters, Aletha Wise of Seminole and Keisha Bear of Shawnee; three brothers, Wiley "Blue" Bear, Jr., Tim Bear and David Walters, all of Shawnee and three sisters, Marsha Bear of Shawnee, Martha Harjo of Holdenville, and Brenda Bear of Shawnee.
His former wife and the mother of his children, Geraldine Little of Seminole and two grandchildren also survive him.
Pallbearers for the services will be Mike Bear, Roman Bear, Joseph Wayne Burgess, Shawn Lefthand, Tracy Haney and Eric Haney.
Honorary bearers will be Stacey Haney, Vincent Haney, Johnson Hulbutta, Jimpsey Hulbutta, Rick Alford, Cecil Bear, Leonard Harjo, Jeremiah Johnson, Joe Johnson, Gerald and Roy Williams.

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Johnson Bear are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bear Family Cemetery with John Fixico officiating.
A wake service is scheduled for tonight at the family home.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Bear, 59, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006 in Seminole. He was born Dec. 14, 1946 in Seminole to Porter and Venis (Edwards) Bear, Sr.
He retired from Koch Gathering Company in 1991 where he was a pipeline inspector. Bear was a member of Snake Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving is daughter, Lisa Bear Duello of Seminole; son, Roman Bear of Seminole; three brothers, Wiley Bear of Mississippi, Porter Bear Jr. of Seminole and Ronald Bear of Stillwater; three sisters, Nora Lefthand of Seminole, Dora Haney of Shawnee and Alice Matthews of Denison, Texas and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the services will be Sean Lefthand, Mike Bear, Justine Boone, Tracey Haney and Ryan Bear.
Honorary bearers will be Porter Bear Jr., Ron Gene Bear, James Duello, Packie and Stacey Haney, Pork Haney and Kyle Larney.

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Rachel Marie (Larney) Bear are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Hitchitee Methodist Church with Rev. David Little and Houston Tiger officiating.
Wake services are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at Hitchitee Methodist Church.
Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Bear, 61, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 in Oklahoma City. She was born July9, 1945 in Seminole to John Larney and Melinda (Alexander) Larney.
She attended school at Strother and later worked for Roundup Cleaners in Oklahoma City. After moving to Shawnee, she attended Liberty Baptist Church.
Her parents; son, George Bear; sister, Linda Bear and great-grandchild, Zachary Johnson preceded her in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Marsha Bear of Shawnee, Martha Harjo of Holdenville and Brenda Bear of Shawnee; three sons, Wiley Bear, Jr., Tim Bear and David Walter, all of Shawnee and brothers, Simon Larney, John Larney, Jr. and Harry Warrior.
Pallbearers for the services will be Joe Burgess, Rick Alford, Duane Ataddlety, Johnnie Fixico, Victor kemp and Kenny Hernandez.
Honorary bearers will be Brian Mitchell, Kent Alford, Kevin Alford and Marcus Fixico.
