Memorial services for 100-year old longtime Wewoka resident, Murl Belford are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church of Wewoka.
Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Belford passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006 in Arlington, Texas. He was born June 30, 1905 in Butner to James and Mary Belford.
He attended schools in Butner and Wewoka, graduating from Wewoka High School in 1925 where he played football, basketball and ran track.
Murl lived the majority of his 100 years in Wewoka, working many years with Security State Bank and later as a State of Oklahoma bank examiner.
He married Jewell Gladys Casey Oct. 19, 1929 and for the past two years has been living with his daughter in Arlington, Texas.
Murl is survived by his daughter Marilyn Davidson and her husband Charles; two grandchildren, Whitney Groth and her husband Todd of Denver, Colo. and Corbett Davidson and his wife Julie of Dallas, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Graham and Mallory Groth and Isaac Davidson as well as a host of friends in both Oklahoma and Texas.
Carmen Ireta Bell
Funeral services for Carmen Ireta Mae Bell will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006 at 1st Missionary Baptist Church in Seminole with Bro. Tom Tripp and Bro. Mike Raines officiating.
Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Seminole.
Carmen Ireta Mae (Otto) Bell was born to Robert Leslie Otto and Mattie (Couch) Otto in Seminole on Sept. 23, 1918. She entered eternal life on Jan. 21, 2006 at Noble, Okla.; she was 87 years old.
On May 14, 1943 she married Vernon Bell in Seminole, where they made their home until his passing on Feb. 21, 2000.
She was possibly one of the first female postmasters for the USPO at Snomac, Okla., serving from 1941 – 1943. She was the bookkeeper for Deep Rock Oil Company and after many years, as bookkeeper for Canadian Valley Electric. She retired in 1973.
Her favorite hobbies were crossword puzzles and reading, especially the Bible. She loved church and singing; she sang specials many times, and she was the church secretary for many, many years.
She was known for serving others. She was always available to take those in need to doctor appointments, to visit those in the hospital and to give "rides" to church.
She loved her family and was most happy when her children and grandchildren were all together with her.
Her husband of 57 years, Vernon; her parents, Robert and Mattie; and three brothers, George, Eugene and Robert Otto, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Dolores Bell of Bartlesville; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Gene Darr of Noble; three grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn Bell of Bartlesville, Michael Scott Bell and wife Patty of Oogalsby, Okla. and Trey Darr and wife Amanda of Noble and six great grandchildren, Alex, Tristan, Brody, Hunter, Graeson and Tucker.
Casket bearers for the service will be Weldon Willbanks, Randy Willbanks, John Gosa, Marty Joplin, Harold Huggins, and David Hartless.
Rosie Eufaula Bell
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Rosie Eufaula Bell are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. David McDougal officiating.
Interment is to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Bell, 92, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2006 at Shawnee Unity North Hospital. She was born Sept. 20, 1913 in Seminole County to Andrew Jackson Powell and Mary Eller (Evans).
Rosie married Odas R. Bell and she worked in retail sales at Quality Cleaners in Wewoka, Seminole Steam Cleaners and McNeill’s Family Shoe Store in Seminole.
Her parents, husband Odas (April 15, 1972), son, granddaughter and four sisters preceded her in death.
Surviving is her nephew and his wife, Ken and Mary Wright of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the services will be William Adcock, Mark Easley, Harold Edgell, Lewis Robison, Bob Wright and A.C. Bundy.
Della Bemo
Funeral services for Wewoka resident are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Springs Baptist Church in Sasakwa.
Rev. Matthew Cobb, assisted by Rev. Frank Moppin, will officiate the services. Interment is to follow at Springs Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Wake services are scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Stout-Phillips Chapel.
Bemo age 78 passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006 in Ponca City. She was born to Bunnie Jesse and Adeline Robinson Burgess Feb. 11, 1927 in Ft. Lyon, Colo.
She attended Culley, Sasakwa Schools, Bacone High School and graduated from Chilocco Schools.
After graduation she attended Bacone College and Compton Jr. College in Compton, Calif. and Westlake College in Irving, Texas.
Della was a bookkeeper and office manager while living in California, an office manager for Michael’s Casual in Konawa and worked for General Motors in Dallas, Texas. Later she moved to Reno, Nev. where she retired in 1990.
She was a member of Springs Baptist Church in Sasakwa and during her time was Sunday school teacher, WAY leader, RA, church treasurer and Sunday school teacher secretary.
Her parents; former husband, George Bemo; one sister, Juanita Burgess and four brothers, Timmy Jesse, Ben Jesse, Abe Burges Jr. and Rev. George Jesse preceded her in death.
Surviving is one son, Russell Bemo and wife Karen of Ponca City; three grandchildren, Cody, Kyle and Jessica, all of Ponca City; three stepchildren, Georgia Lou Sisney, Debbie Lozier and George H. Bemo Jr.: sisters, Eliza Foster and Mary Brown of Wewoka, Mattie Keys of Sasakwa and Amy Palmer of Konawa and a host of relatives and friends.
Pall Bearers for the services will be Richard Palmer, Tony Palmer, Mike Palmer, Dale Jesse, Mike Sisco and George H. Bemo. Honorary bearers will be her grandson and nephews.
Jimmie Joe Bender
Funeral services for the son of former Seminole resident, Cecil Bender are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel with Rev. Houston Tiger officiating.
A wake service has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday at Stout Chapel and burial will be at the Bender Family Cemetery in New Lima.
Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Jimmie Joe Bender, 43, of Shawnee died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006 in Tulsa Hospital. He was born Feb. 19, 1963 in Tahlequah to Cecil and Georgia Ilene (Hooper) Bender.
He graduated from Oklahoma City Classen School and was a member of Green Leaf Baptist Church.
His mother preceded him in death in 1990.
Surviving is his father, Cecil Bender of Shawnee and four brothers, Leonard Kocher and Jimmy Armstrong, both of Oklahoma City, Timmy Armstrong of Tecumseh and Joseph Bender of Shawnee.
Sam Bender
Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Sam Bender are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
Rev. Dorsey Nero and Rev. Steve Cline will officiate with interment to follow at Bender Family Cemetery.

Bender, 77, of Maud, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2006 at Carl Albert Indian Hospital in Ada. He was born Aug. 28, 1928 in Wolf to Joe and Kissie (Walker) Bender.
He married Ida Belle Moore on July 21, 1951in Texas and she preceded him in death on June 13, 1998.
Bender retired from Seminole Company in the late 1980’s and was a member of the Cedar Creek Eufaula Baptist Church.
He served in the United States Army from 1948-1952 during the Korean War. Bender received many medals including the National Defense Service medal, Good Conduct medal, bronze service star, United Nations Service medal and Korean Service medal.
His parents; two brothers, Herman and Ben Bender; two sisters, Nina Fixico and Tilda Haney and his wife preceded him in death.
Surviving is his son, Ed Bender of Maud; daughter and son-in-law, Liz and Bill Southerland of Loco and four grandchildren, Billy Southerland Jr. and Jarrod Bender, both of Seminole and Michael Joe Southerland and Roni Southerland, both of Loco.
Pallbearers for the services will be Michael Joe Southerland, Billy Thacker, Joe Bender, George Bender, Pat Factor, Kenneth Factor, Dewayne Lemmings and Thomas Fixico.
Jack J. Berry
Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Jack J. Berry are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday in the New Lima High School Auditorium.
Rev. Wilmer Cooper will officiate and interment will follow at Wisner Cemetery, Wetumka, under the direction of Myers Mortuary.
Berry, 93 of New Lima, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 in Wewoka. He was born May 12, 1912 in Yeager to Willard and Ludie (Coleman) Berry.
He has been a farmer all of his life and a member of First Baptist Church of Lima, where he was a deacon, member of Sunday school and of the men’s chorus.
His parents, wife, one son, one daughter, nine brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.
Surviving are seven sons, Benjamin and Kenny Ray Berry of Lima, Doris, Donnie Ray and Earl Berry of Shawnee, Sammy Berry of Wewoka and Carl Berry of Oklahoma City and six daughters, Neola Jackson of Lima, Deaner Berry, Cora Brown, Wanda Jones, Rosetta Berry, all of Oklahoma City and Jackie Stroud of Wewoka.
June Berryhill
Funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident June Isabel Berryhill are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.

Isabel passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2006 in Holdenville at the age of 87. She was born Jan. 9, 1919 in Eldorado, Kan. to Robert Dock Walker and Margaret Anseline (Daniels) Walker.
On Feb. 24, 1934 Isabel and Harold J. Berryhill were married in Sapulpa.
She was a homemaker and the mother of six children. Isabel received her nursing license and was a chart nurse.
Isabel was a member of Sasakwa Baptist Church and her hobbies were square dancing, fishing and cooking. She published her own cookbook, "Grandma Izzy’s Old Tin Lizzy."
Her parents; husband Harold; daughter, June Adair; grandchildren, Mike Edmondson, Tracy Edwards and Jerry Don Adair; two brothers, Louis Allen Walker and Archibald Lafayette Walker; sister, Margaret Angeline and sister-in-law, Frankie Walker preceded Isabel in death.
Surviving are four daughters, Clara Wilson of Abilene, Texas, Wanda Davis and Frances Berryhill, both of Wewoka and Lynn Wilson of Holdenville; son, Harold "Doc" Berryhill of Hearn, Texas; sister, Roberta Brown of Tulsa; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Pauline Bossler of Yuma, Ariz., Lola Hayden of Tyler, Texas, Dorothy Berryhill of Wewoka and Clara Simpson of Arlington, Texas.
Loren Berryhill
Private services for Wewoka resident Loren M. Berryhill are to be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Berryhill, age 93, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006 at a nursing home in Holdenville. He was born Feb. 18, 1912 to Blueford and Clara B. (Smith) Berryhill in Kiefer, Okla.
He graduated from Bixby High School and worked for Boeing Aircraft as a mechanic.
On Sept. 9, 1944 he married Dorothy Renfrow in Kansas.
Surviving are three sons, Don Berryhill of Heber Springs, Ark., Loren Berryhill and Bill Berryhill, both of Everett, Wash.; three sisters, Lola Haden and Clara Simpson, of Texas and Pauline Bossler of Arizona; five grandsons, two great-grandsons and one great-great granddaughter.
