Joy Botchlet

Funeral services for native and former resident of Wewoka, Joy Dean Botchlet, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Krien Chapel in Davis with Rev. James Densman officiating.

Interment followed at Green Hill Cemetery in Davis under the direction of Krien Funeral Home.

Botchlet, 84 of Davis, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006. She was born May 23, 1922 in Wewoka to Moss and Anna Francis (Jones) Hanson.

On Aug. 18, 1951 she married Harley Botchlet and they moved to Davis in 1989 after his retirement to be near their family.

Botchlet performed in area churches and in Branson, Mo., singing mostly gospel songs. She was a homemaker.

Her parents and husband preceded her in death.

Surviving is son, Jon Scott Peters of Davis; two daughters, Rozana Lou Melton of Davis and Sally Jenonne Deatherage of Oklahoma City; one brother, Marshall Madison Hanson of Oklahoma City; 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the services were Mike Melton, Kyle Ingram, Matt Melton, Billy Melton, Mark Melton, Mitch Melton, Colby Peters, Lance Ladd, Jason Ladd, Jos Spann, Tony Bennett and Rick McElhaney.

Verna Bottoms

Funeral services for Verna Lou Bottoms of Wagoner will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, in the First United Methodist Church of Wagoner with the Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating.

She passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 5, 2006, in Tulsa at the age of 76.

She was born Sept. 17, 1929, in Seminole to Clarence Edward and Nettie Viola (Hargis) McCluskey.

Verna married Lester Lee Bottoms on Dec. 25, 1948, in Seminole. She was a retired registered nurse and had worked at various hospitals.

She was an avid genealogist and coin collector and enjoyed 0playing the piano in her younger years.

Verna was a member of the World War II Submarine Veterans’ Wives organization and a member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Verna is survived by her husband, the Rev. Lester Lee Bottoms of the home; her sons, Dr. Keith Lee Bottoms and wife, Lynne, of Broken Arrow, Carl S. Bottoms and wife, Carol, of Ponca City, Glen E. bottoms and wife, Aurora, of The Colony, Texas, and Leslee Bottoms and wife, Cindy, of Wagoner; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Vivian Kirkpatrick of Marysville, Calif., Barbara Resneder of Oklahoma City and Karen Smith of Tulsa; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Interment will follow funeral services at 3 p.m. in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Funeral arrangements and services are under the direction of Hersman-Nichols Funeral Home of Wagoner.

Jackie Lynn Bounds

Funeral services for lifelong Konawa resident Jackie Lynn Bounds are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Konawa.

Jerry Wells and Mike Harjo are to officiate with interment to follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Jackie passed away Friday, June 16, 2006 at VA Medical center, Oklahoma City. He was born Nov. 4, 1948 in Konawa to Tom and Anna (Wheeler) Bounds.

He married Wanda Bell on Feb. 25, 1989 in Dora, Okla. and was the owner and operator of Bounds Well Services for over 15 years.

Jackie had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge on July 15, 1969.

He was a member of the VFW and of the Baptist faith.

His parents and one brother, Leonard Bounds, preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of the home; three sons, Bryan Wells of Konawa, David Jackson of Konawa and Joseph Miller; two daughters, Kathy Jackson and Marilyn Moseley, both of Konawa and seven grandchildren.

Also surviving are five brothers, Clifford Ray Bounds of Perry, Jerry Bounds, Richard Bounds and Glen Dale Bounds, all of Konawa and Jimmy Bounds of Ponca City; seven sisters, Lucy Dotson of Anadarko, Phyllis Ward of Boca Raton, Fla., Mary Mintor of Unionville, Va., Carolyn Hughes of Pauls Valley, Brenda Campbell of Tulsa, Ronda Fortelney of Harrah and Wanda Bryce of Konawa and a host of other family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Derek Elliott, Jeremy Bounds, Sterling Tanyan, Jacob Tanyan, Mark Norman and Dale Hughes.

Honorary bearers will be R.C. Norman, Dennis Thurman, Darrell Elliott, Gary Elliott and Rusty Atkinson.

Russell Bourque

Former Seminole County Deputy Russell Bourque lost his battle with cancer Thursday morning at his home in Shawnee. He was 70 years old.

Bourque will be buried at Sand Creek Cemetery, Cromwell, on Tuesday, after a funeral service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate.

Bourque was born Jan. 10, 1936, in Crowley, La., to Ofphie and Ledia (Gautreaux) Bourque.

A Cajun all his life, Bourque could regale friends with stories that made them laugh and cry.

He served 21 years in the US Army, serving in Vietnam and receiving three Purple Hearts and numerous other awards.

He married Leta Aldridge on July 6, 1957 at Cromwell.

He was a member of the Cromwell Baptist Church and Seminole American Legion.

After his retirement from the military in 1974, Bourque had a second career in law enforcement, working as an officer in several towns and with the sheriff’s office.

He was proud of having served under Sheriff Charles Sisco, and proud to have his grandsons follow him into the military.

His great love was golf and played at the Gil Morgan Course in Wewoka until he moved to Shawnee about a year ago.

He maintained his sense of humor and love for his friends and family until the end, despite the pain and discomfort of the disease.

Bourque was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Junior.

He is survived by his wife, Leta, of the home; one daughter, Kathy Bourque Porter, Shawnee; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Mary Bourque, Shawnee; one brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Bonnie Bourque of Jennings, La.; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Joseph and Shelly Porter and Jeremy and Kim Porter, all of Seminole, and Derrick and RaeLinn Bourque of San Diego; one granddaughter, Jessica Bourque, Shawnee; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jaci and Riley Porter, Hunter Ogle, and Carson and Christopher Bourque.

Pallbearers will include Joseph, Jeremy and Derrick Bourque, Danny and Keith Woody and Gene Aldridge.

Billie Fay Bowen

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Billie Fay Bowen are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker with Mickey Shaw officiating.

Billie passed away, Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the age of 75. She was born on April 24, 1930 to Minta Ola (Gentry) and George Bishop in Lincoln County.

She married Earl Bowen in May of 1947 in Lincoln County. Billie was retired from Tinker Field in Oklahoma City.

Billie is survived by her husband Earl Bowen of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, James "J.C." Bowen and his wife, Lark and Jerry Bowen and his wife Patti, all of Seminole; one daughter, Janet Cox of Arlington, Texas; two brothers; Ray Bishop of Sparks and Lloyd Bishop of Prague; three sisters, Louise Flowers of Meeker, Betty Friend of Prague and Mildred White of Springfield, Mo.

She is also survived by six grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Carrie Cox of Mansfield, Texas, Branon and Amber Bowen of Seminole, Brad and Catina Cox of Midlothian, Texas, Branish Bowen and George Carney, Jr. of Seminole, Amanda and Todd Speer of Broken Arrow and Travis Beeson of Oklahoma City.

Billie also had seven great-grandsons, Cameron Cox, Brice Cox, Austin Bowen, Brenden Cox, Blaine Choate, Peyton Bowen, and Dawson Carney.

Her parents, one son, Ricky Bowen and one brother, Jack Bishop, precede her in death.

Odeis Franklin Boyd Sr.

Graveside services for Wewoka High School graduate Odeis Franklin Boyd, Sr. are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City.

Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore.

Mr. Boyd, 87, died Wednesday, may 17, 2006 at his home. He was born in Strawn, Texas to Carroll E. Boyd, Sr. and Lou Cretia Whitner Boyd. He was a 1939 Wewoka High School graduate.

In 1944 he married Averil Isabel Rozel in Oklahoma and they had five children, one son and four daughters.

His parents; son, Odeis Franklin Boyd, Jr.; sister, Gladys; brothers, Dr. Elvin Boyd, Carroll E. Boyd, Jr. and Gene Boyd preceded him in death.

Surviving are four daughters, Judy and husband Don Maynard, Sr. of Moore, Christina and husband Jim Hutchinson of Lawton, Carolyn and husband Mike Johnson of Longview, Texas and Mary and husband Henry Wells of Wewoka; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Edward Boydstun

Funeral services were held Feb. 8, 2006 for lifelong Holdenville resident Edward Boydstun followed by interment at Holdenville Cemetery.

Boydstun died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006 at Heritage Nursing Home in Holdenville. He was born May 13, 1912 in Rogers, Arkansas to Oscar J. and Sally Elizabeth (Colvin) Boydstun.

He was a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Holdenville for many years.

His parents and wife, Viva Ann Boydstun, preceded him in death.

Ronald M. Bradberry

Funeral services for Butner High School alumnus Ronald M. Bradberry are set for Friday, May 19, 2006, at 2 p.m., at the Cromwell Church of Christ.

Interment is scheduled to follow at the Schoolton Cemetery.

Bradberry died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, in Okemah, at the age of 60.

He was born Oct. 8, 1945, in Okemah, to Alton Elihu Bradberry and Beulah (Cox) Bradberry.

He had been a resident of the Okemah for most of his life, graduating from Butner High School in 1963.

Bradberry married Sandra Anderson on Aug. 22, 1964.

He enjoyed trading numerous things, especially produce.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Roy Bradberry.

Bradberry is survived by his wife Sandra of Okemah; two daughters, Rhonda Gosey of Okemah and Sonya Bradberry of Cromwell; one brother, Bill Bradberry of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.

Active pallbearers are listed as Edmond Warrington, Gene Starr, Edward Wesley, Danny Wesley, Kyle Landers, and Earnest Orr.

Honorary bearers are Frank Perry, Lonnie Parker, George Wyatt, Phil Medler, and Bobby Cox.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home and will be officiated by James Branscum.

Tray Brannon

Funeral services for Earlsboro resident Tray Norell Brannon are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Earlsboro School Auditorium with Pastor Bryan pain and Pastor Anthony Rome officiating.

Interment will follow at Earlsboro Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Tray was born to Janell (Notah) and Darnell Brannon on Oct. 28, 1997. God called our beloved Tray home on Friday, Nov. 3, 2006 at the age of nine.

He passed away at OU Medical Center Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Tray was a second grader at Earlsboro Public School. He loved playing basketball, skateboarding, playing video games and boxing.

He attended the First Baptist Church of Earlsboro.

His grandmother, Diana Smith; grandfather, Devon Winrow; uncle, Matt Notah; great-grandmother, Eloise Dickenson; great-grandfather, Johnny Notah Sr. and great-grandparents, Frank and Savannah Brannon preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories to his parents, Janell (Notah) and Darnell Brannon, both of the home; maternal grandparents, John and Cathy Notah of Mesa, Ariz.; paternal grandmother, Ethel Thomas of Midwest City; maternal grandfather, Gene Smith of Seminole and two sisters, Kristen Yahola and Loren Brannon, both of the home.

In addition, he leaves several aunts and uncles including Chris and Sheryl Notah of Wewoka and Roshawn and Robbie Brannon of Shawnee; three great-aunts, Georgia Brannon and Annette Brannon, both of Earlsboro and Burt Littleton of San Diego, Calif.; four great-uncles, Gerald Brannon of Tecumseh, Anthony Notah of Fort Wingate, Ariz., Ronald Notah of Pensacola, Fla. and Isaac Foster of Konawa and a host of loving cousins, family and friends.

Casket bearers will be Thomas Griffis, Ike Brannon, Robert Allen, Derrick Griffis, Sam Villarreal and Mark Tramble.

Honorary bearers will be Jame Johnson, Tracey Griffis, Chris Brannon, T.J. Griffis, Gerald Brannon and Eric Browning.
