Funeral services for longtime Seminole area resident Bertie "Estelle" Branscum, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Konawa.
Rev. Larry Chesser, Jr. will officiate and interment is to follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.
Branscum, 81, passed away Friday, March 17, 2006 at her Seminole residence. She was born Aug. 9, 1924 in Konawa to Robin Leonard Durbin and Ruby Myrtle (Carr) Durbin.
She has been a Seminole area resident for the last 25 years having moved from Shawnee.
Estelle married W.R. "Ray" Branscum on June 13, 1968 in Shawnee and was a homemaker and devout Christian who taught Sunday school for over 50 years.
Her parents, her husband and one daughter, Vivian Glendell Krieg preceded her in death.
Surviving is one brother, R.L. Durbin of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Shelley Evans, Chris Krieg and his wife Michelle and Jennifer Krieg and four great-grandchildren, Allison and Jordan Evans, Andrea Harris and Brittany Sapp.
Pallbearers for the services will be Brock Ward, Richard Hord, Richard Willingham, Steven Willingham, Robert Eades and Chris Eades. Honorary bearers will be Jordan Evans, Shane Montgomery and Michael Willingham.
Norma Jean Brawner
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Norma Jean (Sargent) Brawner are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate and interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Brawner, 72, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2006 in Oklahoma City. She was born Nov. 30, 1933 in Okmulgee to Eugene and Frances (Stephens) Sargent.
On June 11, 1960 she married Ernest Brawner in Seminole and has lived in Seminole most of her life.
She was a retired schoolteacher who enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, cooking and collecting cookbooks. Spending time with her grandchildren was also a joy to her.
Her parents, husband Ernest (November 1988) and one stepson, Bobby Brawner preceded her in death.
Surviving her is one daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Rick Childs-Wisley of Seminole; uncle, Calvin and Jeanie Sargent of Okmulgee; cousin, Shane and Jan Keller of Alameda, Calif.; three grandchildren, Eugene and Trena Childs, Justin and Charity Childs and Stephanie Childs; one step-grandchild, Marty and Cody Wisley; two stepdaughters, Patsy Brawner of Pleasanton, Texas and Linda Beeler of Alva and one stepson, Sonny Brawner of Canadian, Texas.
Casket bearers for the services will be Justin Childs, Eugene Childs, Victor Richardson and Jack Castle. Honorary bearers will be Marland Tiger, Hubert Ferguson, Clarence Winn, Mack Carter and Johnny Henson.
Hazel Ann Brewer
Funeral services for former longtime Cromwell resident Hazel Ann Brewer are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ in Okemah.
Dr. Roger Thompson will be officiating the services.
Interment is to follow at the Schoolton Cemetery in Seminole County under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.
Brewer died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 in Oklahoma City at the age of 83. She was born March 10, 1923 in Tuskegee, Okla. to Earl and Emma (Blevins) Irons.
She was saved and baptized in the Castle Baptist Church in 1953 and was currently attending the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Cromwell.
On July 7, 1945 in Okemah she married Tillman Eugene "Gene" Brewer; he later preceded her in death on June 9, 1995.
She was a homemaker and love to crochet and gardening.
Her parents; husband; two brothers, Merton and John Irons; one sister, Frankie Marshall and two grandchildren preceded her in death.
Surviving is one son, Steve Brewer of Okemah; one stepson, Dale Brewer of Broken Arrow; three daughters, Carlis Flowers of Okemah, Earlene Roper of Seminole and Ruth Dennison of Shawnee; one brother, Raymond Irons of Okmulgee; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Her grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
Velma Brewer-Moore
Graveside funeral services for the sister of two Seminole residents are being scheduled for Thursday.
Velma L. Brewer-Moore of Holdenville, sister of Harvey Ledbetter and Sybil Harris of Seminole, died Friday, June 30, 2006, at her home; she was 82 years old.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Holdenville Cemetery with Donnie Knight officiating.
Burial will follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
Brewer-Moore was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Holdenville to Ollie and Cordie (Green) Ledbetter.
She attended school at Hulsey and Moss.
She enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish.
She married Elmer Brewer in 1942; he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Elbert Moore.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one infant daughter, Carolyn Kay; and one sister, Thelma Griffith.
Survivors include daughters, Loretta Byerly, Holdenville, and Kathy (Ledbetter) Chatfield, St. Augustine, Fla.; two brothers, Harvey Ledbetter of Seminole and Floyd Ledbetter of Holdenville; one sister, Sybil Harris, Seminole; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Iona I. Brisco
An angel and our heavenly Father above came with open arms and met our mother Iona I. Brisco, June 27, 2006 at her home in Longwood, Fla., where she passed peacefully surrounded by her family.
She was born in Blanchard, Okla. May 25, 1918.
Iona was a long time resident of Letha where her husband ran Floyd’s Garage and her children attended Bowlegs schools. She worked at Pat’s Cafe.
She is survived by her sister Ruby Griffith of Seminole; daughters, Shirley Murch of Westminster, Calif., Sharon Spencer of Longwood, Fla.; sons, Gale Gene of Lutz, Fla., Bill of Tampa, Fla., Jack of Odessa, Fla., Gerald of Odessa, Fl. and 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Her family held a memorial service in Longwood, Fla. for her family and friends.
There will be a graveside service at Wolf Cemetery on July 8, 2006 at 10 a.m.
For friends that would like to stop by and visit, the family will be staying in Shawnee at the America’s Best Value Inn.

Franklin Brogdon
No funeral services have been planned at the deceased’s wishes for former longtime Seminole County resident Franklin Fitzhugh Brogdon.
Brogdon died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006 at the Veteran’s Center in Norman at the age of 86. He was born on Aug. 25, 1920 in Madill.
From 1942 to 1945, Brogdon served his country in World War II.
Brogdon made his home around Seminole and later Wewoka and Cromwell.
He moved to the Norman Veteran’s Center in February of 2003.
Jimmie Brooks
Graveside services for Maud resident Jimmie C. Brooks are scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday at Vamoosa Cemetery with Rev. Tim Harjo officiating.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Brooks, 68, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006 in Shawnee. He was born Feb. 11, 1938 in Yuma, Ariz. to Eugene and Lucille (Sims) Brooks.
He has lived in Oklahoma since 1969 in the Maud/Seminole areas.
His wife, Joann Brooks, preceded him in death in 1988.
Brooks worked as an auto mechanic and owned his own auto salvage south of Maud. He was a member of the Baptist church.
His parents, two brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
Surviving are four sons, Jackie Brooks of Seminole, Darryl Brooks of Tecumseh, Stephen Brooks of Maud and Richard Brooks of Earlsboro; two daughters, Patty Green of Seminole and Sandra Brooks of Maud; five brothers, Gene Brooks of California, Charles Brooks of Oregon, Sammy Brooks of Arizona, Tommy Brooks and Danny Brooks, both of Idaho; one sister, Alice Russell of Konawa; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Delores Brown
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Delores Thelma Johnson Brown are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Seminole with Rev. B.G. Renfro of Parker’s Chapel Baptist Church officiating.
Interment is to follow at Sowatske Cemetery in Seminole under the direction of Myers Mortuary in Wewoka.
Brown, 92, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006 at Holdenville Hospital. She was born June 15, 1914 in Seminole County to Cherry B. Johnson and Sarah (Sowatske) Williams.
She lived all her earlier life in the county and moved to Los Angeles, Calif. when she married. Later in life she moved back to Wewoka and remained until the time of her death.
Brown was the granddaughter of J. Coody Johnson and a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church in Seminole.
Her parents, one brother, Frank and her husband, Leonard Brown, preceded her in death.
Surviving is her special friend, Jack Avery; sons, Jose and Dewayne of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughters, Majorie Jackson of Ft. Worth, Texas and Linda Brown of Wewoka and sister, Bertha Lee Farris of Wewoka.
Douglas Brown
A private family funeral service for longtime Seminole resident Douglas Pollard Brown is to take place with arrangements under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Douglas, 70, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Aug. 14, 1935 in Maryland to Marion and Effie (Pollard) Brown.
On Nov. 6, 1954 he married Shirley Thomas in Sykesville, Md.
He worked as a lineman for many years. Brown worked for B&L Electric, Seminole and S&W Line Company, Seminole, where he retired from in 1993.
Brown moved to Seminole County from Maryland in 1973.
His parents and one sister, Helen Demalade, preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of the home; two sons, Robert Brown and fiancé Sherry Potts and David Brown and wife Terri, all of Seminole and two daughters, Barbara Albright and husband Gregory of Waynesboro, Penn. And Sandra Dye and husband Eric of Konawa.
In addition, he leaves behind two brothers, Ernest Ralph Brown of Sykesville, Md. and James Franklin Brown of Libertytown, Md. and 12 grandchildren, Christopher Albright, Megan Albright, Lake Albright, Ashley Pierce, Candace Pierce, Travis Potts, Levi Brown, Paige Brown, Lauryn Dye, Robin Floyd, Jordyn Dye and Landyn Dye.
