Funeral service for Wewoka resident, Jacob Camp, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday at Little Quarsarty Church, Wewoka, with Rev. Lyon Packhurt and Rev. Fred Lindsey officiating.
Interment is to follow at Camp Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Camp, 68, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006 in Holdenville. He was born April 6, 1937 in Seminole County to Cheparney and Bessie (Leitka) Camp.
He graduated from Wewoka High school and attended Haskell Indian College for one year.
He worked as a roustabout in the oilfields and was also a minister at Marlow, Okla. Camp held the position of minister at Calvary Baptist Church along with a membership.
On Jan. 3, 1957 he married Josephine Lindsey in Wewoka and was an avid gardener and Christian.
His parents, wife (Nov. 4, 2006) and brothers, Barney and Wesley Camp preceded him in death.
Surviving are his five children, Cheparney Camp of Oklahoma City, Christine camp of Seminole, Jacob Camp Jr. of Wewoka, Chris Camp and Jimmy Camp, both of Oklahoma City.
Josephine Camp
Funeral services for Cromwell native Josephine Camp are set for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at the Little Quarsarty Church.
Burial will follow at Camp Cemetery.
Services will be under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
A wake service is set for 7:30 p.m. tonight, at Little Quarsarty Church, with Rev. Lynn Parkheast and Rev. Eddie Joe Lindsey officiating. The body will be brought to the church at 3 p.m. today.
Camp died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at the age of 67, in Ada.
She was born Sept. 6, 1939, in Cromwell, to Eddie Lindsey and Lucinda (Noon) Lindsey.
Camp graduated from Old Butner School and worked as a seamstress for Big Yank. She was a member of Marlow Baptist Church.
On Jan. 3, 1957, she married Jacob Camp Sr. in Wewoka, and five children were born to the union.
Josephine Camp was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Minnie Pool, Cledith Thrift, and Pauline Deer; brother Thomas Lindsey; and four great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Jacob Camp, of Wewoka; five children, Cheparney Camp of Oklahoma City, Christine Camp of Seminole, Jacob Camp Jr. of Wewoka, Chris Camp of Yukon, and Jimmy Joe Camp of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Hattie Harjo of Wewoka, and Lola Wakatani of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Rev. Fred Lindsey of Wetumka, Rev. Eddie Joe Lindsey of Oklahoma City, and Andrew Lindsey of Oklahoma City; and 11 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Mireless, Roddy Camp, Montana Camp, Jaycee Camp, Todd Maples and Randy Knowles.
Ada Cargill
Funeral services for lifelong Sasakwa resident Ada Margaret (Bruton) Cargill are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Sasakwa Church of Christ.
Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Ada passed away Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 in Holdenville General Hospital. She was born Dec. 27, 1914 in Sasakwa to Charlie Crump Burton and Pearl (Wheelus) Burton.
She graduated from Sasakwa High School and later attended East Central University.
Ada married Dave Marian Cargill on Oct. 24, 1933 in Sasakwa and she was a member of the Church of Christ in Sasakwa.
She owned and operated Cargill Grocery in Sasakwa for many years and was a housewife who enjoyed her family, yard work and growing beautiful flowers.
Her parents; husband, Dave Cargill; son, Phillip Cargill; brothers, C.W. Burton, Dickey Burton and John C. Burton and one sister, Bonnie Fernberg preceded her in death.
Surviving are three children, Patsy Glover of Purcell, Avanell McFerran of Sasakwa and Rhonda Monroe of Holdenville; one sister, Bertha Bruton of Okalahoma City; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Zell Carrell
Funeral services for Zell Carrell of Ardmore were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2006, at Mary Niblack Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Wilson, Rev. Timothy Ball and Rev. Stacey West officiating.
Interment followed at Young Cemetery in Gene Autry under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home, Ardmore.
Carrell died on Friday, May 19, 2006 in a Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore at the age of 93 years. She was born to Ed and Lizzie Goodwin Vineyard in Berwyn, Okla. on Jan. 12, 1913.
She and C.J. Carrell were married on Feb. 11, 1932 in Berwyn. Carrell was a lifelong resident of Carter County and was a member of the Mary Niblack Baptist Church.
Carrell was a homemaker a worked for Carter County as a Commodities Clerk.
Her parents, husband and brothers, Jack Vineyard, G.W Vineyard and J.B. Vineyard preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Carrell and Joe Carrell, both of Ardmore and Glen Carrell of Seminole; daughter, Diana Blakemore of Healdton; sisters, Aileen Russell of Moore, Ruby Drew of Madera, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Lucille Carter
Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Lucille C. Carter are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God Church in Holdenville.
James Hilton is to officiate with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka. Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
Carter, 93, died Thursday, March 2, 2006 in Oklahoma City. She was born Nov. 14, 1912 in Woodward to Clarence James Craddock and Gladys Opal (Bates) Craddock.
She attended Wewoka Schools and was one of the original "Rosie the Riveter" for Douglas Air Craft and following World War II was a cleaner presser.
Carter was a member of the Eastern Star and was a member and an organist for 20 years at First Assembly of God Church, Holdenville.
In July 1934 she married John A. Menefee in Wewoka and he died April 6, 1968. She later married Silas Miller Carter in January 1970 and he too died in 1986.
Her parents, two husbands, and eleven siblings preceded her in death.
Surviving are sons, John Menefee of Yukon and Morris Menefee of Oklahoma City; brother, Clarence Russell Craddock of Lafayette, La.; sister, Gladys Boucher of San Jose, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the services will be Jimmy Menefee, Rodney Weedon, John Menefee, Clarence Craddock, Troy Martin and Earl Bates.
Patti Carter
A memorial service for Seminole resident Patsy Ann "Patti" Carter is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the family home at 100 Washington Street in Bowlegs.
Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Carter, 60, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006 at Seminole Medical Center. She was born June 15, 1946 in Ontario, Ore. to Jasper Newton Brown and Jewel D. (McDonald) Brown.
She attended Seminole Schools and was of the Baptist faith. She worked as a seamstress and waitress until she became disabled.
Carter moved to Seminole six months ago having arrived from Quartsite, Ariz.
In 1966 she married David Cathey in Seminole.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving is her son, Scott Cathey of Shawnee; two daughters, Lisa Cathey of Seminole and Shauna Cochran of Bowlegs; her former husband, David Cathey of Bowlegs; one brother, Larry Brown of Wewoka and 16 grandchildren.
Marta Casteel
Former Seminole resident Marta (Lemons) Casteel, the daughter of retired Seminole High School teacher, Kay Lemons and stepfather, retired Maud High School coach, George Lemons, succumbed to injuries of an auto accident at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City on Aug. 7, 2006.
Marta was born in Bogotá, Columbia on July 13, 1957. She attended Seminole High School through her graduate year of 1975 but lived all of her adult life in Norman, Okla.
She enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the OU community as a freelance artist and she also loved to sing and played guitar.
Marta was overjoyed to see her only daughter graduate from OU this past spring. She also loved the companionship of her beloved cat Henry.
Marta's mind and body were long burdened by mental illness, but her spirit always found wonderful expression through her love of art and music, which brought her great happiness when she shared them with her friends and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Casteel who resides in Oklahoma City; her mother and step-father who reside in Tulsa, Okla.; as well as family members, sister, Meredith Lynn of Tulsa, brother, Steve Lemons of Helena, sister, Lisa Elrod of Tulsa, sister, Laura Roberson of Tulsa, sister, Stephanie Lemons of Tulsa, brother, Sean Lemons of Timenium, Md. and sister, Barbara Lemons of Oklahoma City.
The family has chosen Swearingen Funeral Home to handle the cremation and a memorial service is pending in Norman later this month.
Glen Casteel
Funeral services for former Seminole Junior College student Glenn Casteel are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, at the Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh.
Michael Robinson and Charlie Clem will officiate the services, under the direction of the Cooper Funeral Home.
There will be a wake held at 7 p.m. tonight, in the family home.
Burial will follow the funeral service at the Tecumseh Cemetery.
Casteel died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 58.
He was born April 16, 1948, in Culver City, Calif., to Junior Clytice and Marie Frances (Maxwell) Casteel.
Casteel lived in Texas for a short time, and then moved to Shawnee when he was 10 years old.
He was a 1966 graduate of Shawnee High School, and later attended Seminole Junior College.
Casteel served in the U.S. Navy for six years, serving on the USS Constellation in Vietnam.
On Oct. 7, 1975, he married Betsy Spencer in Chandler.
He worked for Checker Cab before going to work at Carter Hall Detention Center in 1989. He later transferred to the Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center (COJC) in Tecumseh, where he worked as a juvenile specialist until his death.
He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, and gave his life to the Lord in 1999.
Casteel enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and softball while his children were young. He also enjoyed yard work, playing board games, spending time with his grandchildren and watching OU football.
He especially enjoyed family gatherings.
Casteel was preceded in death by his father in 1975; his stepfather, George Giles, in 1999; and his granddaughter Meski’ in 2001.
He is survived by his wife Betsy Casteel of the home; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Houston and Teresa Wolfe of Dale, Richard and Misti Wolfe of Okemah, Michael Casteel of Shawnee, and Bobby and Donna Warden of Yukon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tina Wolfe and Rick Hartman of Shawnee, and Sherry and Charlie Clem of Prague; his mother, Marie Giles, of Shawnee; three granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; his brother, Fred Casteel of Eufaula; a sister, Treva Jaggers, of Tecumseh; numerous nieces and nephews; and three sisters-in-law, Vivian Bender, Rita Vizenor, and Loretta Murphy.
