Jeffrey Chisum

Funeral services for Seminole resident Jeffrey Scott Chisum were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kelly Memorial Chapel with Minister Charlie Bailey officiating.

Burial followed at the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home.

Chisum, 21, died in an accident in Eufaula on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006. He was born Nov. 9, 1984 in Shawnee to Steve R. and Paula D. (Altstatt) Chisum.

He attended North Rock Creek Elementary School in Shawnee through the fourth grade. Chisum then attended Eufaula Public Schools through the 12th grade.

Chisum was active in the high school band until the 10th grade.

He recently moved to Seminole when his employer, Blue Wave Boats, transferred there.

Surviving are his parents, Paula Chisum of Eufaula and Steve Chisum of Muskogee; brothers, Chris Chisum of Shawnee and Josh and Brian Chisum of the home; maternal grandparents, Alpha and Melbourn Altstatt of Dustin; paternal grandparents, Steve and Susan Scruggs of Wynnewood and paternal great-grandparents, Clyde and Bernice Cornwell of Harrison, Ark.

Pallbearers for the services were Dusty Bray, Aaron Mullin, Oscar Nunez, Jonathan Campbell, Scott Campbell and Daniel Farrimond.

Gene Choate

A memorial service will be announced at a later date for Sasakwa resident Gene Wilfred Choate.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Choate, 79, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at a local nursing home. He was born April 12, 1927 in Luther to Bonnie Leroy and Ruby (Mercer) Choate.

He attended Luther, Spencer and Jones schools and worked in the construction business as a heavy equipment operator.

His parents; wife, Betty (Turner) Choate; brothers, Joe, L.C., Charles F., Jimmy Dale, Alva Dee and Tommy Leroy Choate preceded him in death.

Surviving are two brothers, Bob Choate of Okemah and Verna Wayne Choate of Sasakwa and sister, Nancy Arleta George of Vaga, Texas.

Walter Christianson

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Walter Christianson are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Michael Vallandingham is to officiate the service. Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Christianson age 53, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006 in a Tulsa hospital. He was born July 31, 1952 in Louisiana to Walter Martin Christianson and Wilma (Graham) Christianson.

His parents preceded him in death.

Robert Clausing

A memorial service for retire businessman and civic leader, Robert W. "Bob" Clausing, is planned for a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Clausing died Monday, Aug. 14, 2006 at the age of 90. The death of Bob was announced by his wife, Jen Clausing. He had been in declining health for several years.

He was born March 17, 1916 in Kingfisher, Okla. to Albert H. and Carol Clausing.

Bob Clausing was a graduate of Covington High School, and the University of Kansas, where he was a member of Delta Chi social fraternity.

He attended Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University, prior to his transfer to the University of Kansas when his father sold his grain elevator business in Covington and moved to Coffeyville, Kan. to own and operate a general Motors dealership.

After college graduation Bob was employed by Oklahoma Tire & Supply until being drafted at the beginning of World War II, in which he served as a medical supply officer in the islands of New Guinea and Philippines.

Following WWII he was employed by Sears Roebuck in Enid before being transferred to Brownsville, Texas in a management position.

Bob and Jen Clausing married July 6, 1941, and the couple celebrated their 65th anniversary this past July.

On Aug. 1, 1952 Bob and his wife Jen purchased Whitbeck Feeders Supply and operated it as Clausing’s Feeders Supply, Inc. until its purchase in November 1977 by Ralph Black and Rickey Marquis who have expanded the business and operated it as Clausing Farm Center, LLC.

Of equal importance and enjoyment in Bob Clausing’s life was his membership and work in Seminole Lions Club for more than 50 years. He first joined the Lions Club in Brownville, Texas.

His membership in the Seminole Lions Club includes serving as president and working each year at the annual Lions Club Halloween Carnival and later with the train at Seminole’s Municipal Park.

As an advocate for improvement and growth of Seminole for more than the 54 years that he resided her, he was active in numerous civic and business organizations beginning with the initial investments of monies by many Seminole citizens and businesses to bring Blue Bell (now Wrangler) to Seminole when it located its first plant in the old Gulf Oil camp along Harvey Road.

He, along with several other Seminole citizens, were instrumental in the relocation of Enviro-Systems to Seminole and the completion of city utilities for development of what is now Seminole Estates.

During Bob Clausing’s term as president of the Seminole Chamber of Commerce the City of Seminole was designated an All-American City, one of three received by the City of Seminole and represented by plaques located in front of the Seminole Chamber of Commerce offices.

He also served as chairman of the Seminole Industrial Foundation and member of the Seminole Industrial Trust Authority. In addition, he was a longtime member of the Seminole Planning Commission.

As one Seminole citizen described him, "he was a pusher for the good of Seminole."

One of the biggest attainments in the mind of Bob Clausing was his induction as one of 12 original inductees in to the Seminole Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame also included notable Seminole citizens, Milt Phillips, Jimmie Austin, Lyle Boren, David Boren, Louise Townes, L.P. "Lonnie" Howze, Doc Grisso, Ray Davis, Fred Adwan and C. P. Ellis.

Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Seminole.

His parents, brothers John and Warren Clausing and one grandson, Scott Talkington preceded him in death.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jen Clausing of the Seminole home; three children, W. Kirk Clausing of Tulsa, Carole Lane and husband Peter Lane of Orchard Park, N.Y. and Mary Talkington and husband John Talkington of Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren, Paul W. Clausing of San Francisco, Calif., Jennifer K. Lane and Christine C. Lane both of Orchard Park, N.Y. and Erin L. Talkington and Todd A. Talkington both of Virginia Beach, Va. and two brothers, Gerald Clausing of Fort Belvoir, Va. and Russell Clausing of Overland Park, Kan.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that any remembrances be made to Seminole Public Library.

Addendum

A memorial service has been set for Robert W. "Bob" Clausing, who died Aug. 14, 2006, at the ago of 90. Family members said the service would be held 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5, at First United Methodist Church in Seminole.

Mary Louise Claybrook

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday for Wewoka resident Mary Louise Fleming Claybrook who died Tuesday, May 16, 2006.

A service time has yet to be determined and interment is to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Claybrook was born Oct. 21, 1920 in Mena, Ark. to Wayne and Rhea Fleming. She then moved to Shawnee, with her parents in 1923. She grew up and was educated in Shawnee, graduating from Shawnee High School in 1938.

She and her husband Raymond Doyle met and married in Shawnee. After completion of his military service in World War II, they settled in Wewoka where they raised their family of three girls.

Claybrook was a member of the First Christian Church, Wewoka.

Her parents, husband and brother, James W. Fleming preceded her in death.

Daughters, Marilyn Laessig of Harker Heights, Texas; Doylene Rice of Nacogdoches, Texas; Elizabeth Smith of Yukon; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren survive her.

Wayne Lee Claybrook

Graveside services for Wewoka native Wayne Lee Claybrook are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery with Dr. Robert L. Ross officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Wayne Claybrook age 76, of McLoud passed away in Oklahoma City on Monday, Feb. 20, 2006. He was born Nov. 25, 1929 in Wewoka to Claude Lee Claybrook and Eulah Mae (Honeycutt) Claybrook.

He attended Tulsa Public School and later worked for Pipefitters Local 205 in Tulsa.

Wayne and Carolyn Jean Rooks married May 7, 1955 in Wewoka. He was of the Baptist faith and was a V.F.W. member, serving as commander at the Mannford post.

His parents, son Bobby Lee Claybrook and half-brother Leroy Marcum preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Carolyn, of the home; sons, Gary Wayne Claybrook and wife Deresa of Moore. Claude Claybrook and wife Bobbie of Owasso and Jeff Claybrook and wife Vicki of Sand Springs; daughter, Shelley Ross and husband Roger of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren and one great- grandchild.

In addition, brothers, Jerry Claybrook of Sand Springs, David Claybrook of Mannford and John Claybrook of Overland Park, Kan.; half-brother, Bill Marcum of Oklahoma City and three sisters, Delores Lee of Sand Springs, Carolyn Boone of Mannford and Mary Ann Klintworth of Mannford are surviving him.

Denny Cleveland

Services for former Wewoka resident Denny Merle Cleveland are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Cleveland Family Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Cleveland, 59, died Thursday in Shawnee. He was born Dec. 22, 1946 in Clinton to Milford Lee and Marie (Long) Cleveland.

He graduated from Webster High School in Tulsa and worked for Elitch at Six Flags in the maintenance area. Before returning to Oklahoma, he resided in Denver, Colo.

Survivors include his parents of Wewoka; three sons, Randy Cleveland, Sapulpa, Tracie Cleveland, Tishomingo, and Ko-No Cleveland of New York City; two daughters, Kiani Cleveland, and Hokti Cleveland, both of California; one sister, Gloria Perez of Shawnee; and two brothers, Milford Cleveland, Denver, Colo., and Nick Cleveland of New York City.

Cleveland is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives, and friends.

Dorothy Jean Clough

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Dorothy Jean Clough are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday at Seminole Church of Christ.

Chris Stinnett is to officiate and interment is to follow service at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Clough, 79, passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 2, 1926 in Sapulpa to Thomas and Dollil (Stanton) Deshazo.

She married Fred Clough on July 17, 1942 in Sapulpa and was one of the secretaries for Moran Enterprises. She was a Seminole resident for over 43 years.

Her parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Jewell Clough of Garland, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Fredda and J.R. Pack of Seminole; one brother, George Deshazo of Tulsa; one sister, Cecil Borden of Tulsa; three grandchildren, John Whalon, Don Pack and Dale Pack; six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Casket bearers for the services will be John Whalon, Don Pack, Dale Pack and Derick Pack. Honorary bearer is to be Melvin Moran.

Jerry Clower

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Jerry Charles Clower are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Roy Robertson is to officiate with arrangements being under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Clower, 61, died Monday, April 3, 2006 at his home. He was born Oct. 12, 1944 in Maud to R.C. Clower and Norma Christine (Meek) Clower.

On Oct. 11, 1965 he married Billie Don Shatto in Enid and had attended Bowlegs Schools.

He was retired from Parsons Well Service and as a rig operator in the oilfield. Clower was a member of the Baptist church.

From 1960 – 1962 Clower was a private E-2 in the United States Army in the Infantry Division.

Surviving is his wife of the home; three sons, Jerry LaDale Clower of Cromwell, Joe Bob Clower and Larry Driskill, both of Seminole; one daughter, Billie Jean Clower of Seminole; four brothers, Bobby Joe Clower of Wolf, Phillips Clower and Johnny Pierce, both of Seminole and Joe Pierce of Healdton, Okla.; three sisters, Billie Leonard of Eufaula, Vanessa Pierce of Hamilton, Texas and Laura Hale of Seminole and six grandchildren.
