A "life celebration" for former Wewoka resident Donna Lynn (Hatfield) Cluck was held Tuesday, March 14, 2005 in Frisco, Texas.
Cluck, 56, was born on March 14, 1950 in Wynnewood to Farrell and Jo Hatfield. She graduated from Maysville High School in 1968.
The family lived in Wewoka for several years where her father owned Western Auto.
On Aug. 10, 1986 she married Larry Cluck and they lived in Norman and McAlester where she worked as a realtor.
In 2000 the couple then moved to Frisco, Texas where she achieved success in the development of new communities and the sale of new homes.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband Larry Cluck of Frisco; two children, Christopher Kyle Kay of Arlington, Texas and Tanya Kay of Norman; one brother, Ronnie Hatfield of Noble; two grandchildren and four stepchildren, Trent Chad, Sharail and Brent Cluck of Leigh Acres, Fla.
Velma Coates
Funeral services for Konawa native Velma Mae Coates are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Bill Eisenhower Southeast Chapel.
Interment is to follow at 2 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole under the direction of Bill Eisenhower Funeral Homes, Inc., Del City.
Coates, 93, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006. She was born Aug. 12, 1913 in Konawa.
Her parents, one brother: Alvie Davis, her first husband: Charles Clayton Lakey and her second husband: C.W. Coates preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Charles Lakey of Kingfisher and Dwight Lakey of Del City; two daughters, Narva Wilkerson of Atwood and Joyce Davis of Mustang; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one sister, Vivaree Glover of Seminole.
Georgia Cole
A memorial service for Seminole resident Georgia Cole is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Georgia Cole passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2006 at the age of 79. She was born on Sept. 4, 1926 in Cromwell to Ernest and Ruth (Jones) Frizzell.
She worked in the health care industry as a caretaker; she also worked through the health department in elder care services.
She loved working with the elderly and children, During World War II she worked in the defense factories in California.
Her parents and one sister, Mary Frizzell preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Julia Cole of Seminole; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Mary Ann Frizzell of Morrison, Okla. and Jackie Don and Barbara Frizzell of Lindsay, Okla.; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Vi and Ivan Baldwin of Riverside, Calif., Billie Fern and Wilmon Davis of Wewoka, Betty Jean and Bill Freeman of San Antonio, Texas, Jimm Ruth Tomlin of Lindsay, Evelyn Kennedy of Lindsay and Linda Sue and Don Thomas of Moore.
She is also survived by two grandchildren and their spouses, Wade and Stacey Cole of Seminole and Shannon and John Owens of Bonhan, Texas and five great-grandchildren, Taylor Harris, Bailey Cole, Garrett Cole, Thomas Cole Owens and Jacee Cole.
Mabel Collins
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Mabel Collins are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Mabel passed away on Monday, Oct. 23, 2006 in Oklahoma City at the age of 72. She was born on July 3, 1934 in Wewoka to Paul and Grace Mabel (Grey) Burchfield.
On Nov. 10, 1963 she married Herbert Eugene Collins in Seminole.
Her parents and three brothers, Albert Durham, jack Dempsey Burchfield and George Marley Burchfield, preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Mary Brawdy of Seminole; daughter, Vicki Osborn of Seminole; adopted son, Billy Osborn of Seminole and sister, Ruth Martin of Shawnee.
She is also survived by three grandchildren and their spouses, Rhonda and husband Shannon Lewis, Rebecca and husband Billy Hart and Robin and husband Rick Leahy; and six great-grandchildren, Jordan Lewis, Kayle Lewis, Cameron Hart, Blaine Hart, Carly Leahy and Jerrod Osborn.
Pallbearers for the services will be: Billy Osborn, Shannon Lewis, Billy Hart, Rick Leahy, Gary Lewis and Rick Martin.
Honorary bearers will be: Jordan Lewis, Blaine Hart and Jerrod Osborn.
Irene Columbus
Funeral service for former Konawa resident Irene Columbus are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at High Springs Baptist Church with Leon Postoak to officiate.
Interment is to follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.
Wake services are scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Konawa and the body is to be moved to the church at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Columbus, 81, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006 at her residence in Oklahoma City. She was born May 15, 1924 in Bowlegs to Alex Maggie and Alice West Moore.
She married Leon Columbus and worked as a riveter at Tinker Field. IN addition, she was a homemaker and member of Central Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.
Her parents; one son, Bobby Barnett; one daughter, Sharon Barnett; one brother; two sisters and one great-grandson preceded her in death.
Surviving are six sons, William Melton Jr. of Norman, Samuel Ray Barnett of Bixby, Larry Barnett of Oklahoma City, Alexander Barnett of Norman, Edward Barnett of Oklahoma City and Ricky Columbus of Oklahoma City; four daughters, Jacqueline Barnett of Norman, Kay Roanhorse of Window Rock, Ariz., Johnnie Allen Barnett of Ponca City and Theresa Holman of Ada; former husband, Leon Columbus of Oklahoma City; 32 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Joe David Compton
Graveside services with military honors are scheduled for longtime Seminole resident Joe David Compton 10 a.m. at Little Cemetery with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Compton, 74, died Friday, June 9, 2006 at Solara Hospital in Shawnee. He was born June 14, 1931 in Seminole to Homer Ralph Compton and Margaret (Cooper) Compton.
He served in the United States Air Force as a S-Sgt (T) in the Korean War with the 326 Fighter Interceptor Squadron, where he received the Korean Service, Good Conduct, National defense and the United States Service medals.
Compton was also an oilfield machinist who retired in 2006 from Wolfe Machine. He was a charter member of the Seminole Elks Lodge.
His parents, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
Surviving is son, David "Pete" Compton of Seminole; daughter, Cherie (Compton) Thompson of Platter; companion, Alice Hall of Seminole and one grandchild.
David Conley Sr.
Funeral services for lifelong Wewoka resident David Lee Conley Sr. are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Springs Baptist Church in Sasakwa.
Rev. Frank Moppin and Mickey Charles Conley will be officiating.
Wake services will be held tonight from 6 – 8 p.m. at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel.
Interment is to follow services at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
David passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Feb. 10, 1952 in Wewoka to Hillard and Irene (Spencer) Conley.
He married Nancy Harris on Dec. 24, 1979 and was baptized Oct. 21, 1984 at Springs Baptist Church by Rev. George Jesse.
David served in the Army National Guard, 1st BN 160th FA and received an honorable discharge on Dec. 18, 1979.
His parents and sister, June Riley preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy of the home; son and daughter-in-law, David Conley Jr. and Teresa of Wewoka; daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Corky Snodgrass of Wewoka; brother and sister-in-law, Mickey Charles and Carolyn Conley of Wewoka; sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Ron Scott of Shawnee; half-brother, Kenneth Conley and wife Carol of Petaluma, Calif.; four grandchildren, Connor Conley, Marlene Scott, Gerran Scott, all of Wewoka and Angel Scott of Cordell and one great-grandchild, Shyanne Donovan of Cordell.
Pallbearers for the services will be Art Garner, Phillip Whitlock Sr., Tommy Johnson, Wilburn Johnson, Chico Sneed and Jason Childers.
Honorary bearers will be the brothers-in-law, Larry Harris, Charles Harris, David Wayne Harris Sr., Roy Dean Harris, Sammy Harris and Edward Giles.
Arvell Conner
Funeral services for former longtime Konawa resident Arvell Byron "Pete" Conner are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.
Pastor Quinton Kay is to officiate the services. Interment is to follow at Vista Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.
Conner, 94 of Tuttle, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at Tuttle Care Center in Tuttle, Okla. He was born June 28, 1911 in Steadman, Okla. to John and Nancy (Scoggins) Conner.
He married Sally "Irene" Conner on July 4, 1934 in Manitou, Okla.
Conner was a veteran who served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from civil service at Tinker Field and also at an Air Force base in Fairfield, Calif.
He also worked as a police officer, deputy sheriff and as an oil lease broker.
Conner was a longtime member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Konawa where he served as deacon for many years.
His parents; wife, Sally ‘Irene" Conner (July 7, 2004); one son, Donald Monte Conner; two daughters, Linda Jensen and Wanda Conner; one brother and four sisters preceded him in death.
Surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carolyn Cook
Longtime Seminole resident, Carolyn Sue Cook, age 54, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, in Seminole, Oklahoma at her home. Carolyn was born on Jan. 1, 1952 to J.C. and Jewel (Kelly) Robbins in Seminole.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Ann Mahler officiating.
Interment will be at Little Cemetery in Seminole County under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Carolyn was a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 25 years where she was currently employed with Seminole Estates Nursing Center.
She was a member of the Heartland Family Church in Seminole.
Surviving are her two sons, Jerry Cook of Seminole and Randy Cook of Victoria, Texas; two sisters, Kathy Scott and Connie Robbins, both of Seminole; two grandsons, Justin and Jeremy Cook and a host of other family and friends.
Her parents preceded Carolyn in death.
Pall Bearers will be Shawn Poff, Tragg Ranells, Daniel Stillwell, Leroy Mitchell, Bradley Scott, Scott Gray, Chris Mills and Denver Johnson.
Howard Cook
Funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident Howard Cook are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Jim Shaffer to officiate with Rev. Tommy Azlin to assist.
Howard P. Cook, age 93, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2006 at a local nursing home. He was born Aug. 25, 1912 in Lawton to John Elmer Cook and Sarah Pearl (Woods) Cook.
Mr. Cook attended Woods School and was a member of New Life Church Pentecostal Holiness Church. He and Jimmie Ella Autry were married Sept. 4, 1934 in Wewoka.
He was self-employed as Cook Trucking Company and after retiring from the trucking industry in 1976, he raised cattle.
His parents, wife Jimmie Ella Cook (October 1997), son George Allen Cook (December 2004), one grandchild, Randy Streater (June 1989), brothers, Emery, Henry and Fred Cook, sisters, Maude Mae Bunch, Leura Merrell, Elmeta Bently and Marjorie Kiker preceded him in death.
Surviving is son and daughter-in-law, Don Preston Cook and wife Jerretta of Wewoka; daughter, Trevia Sue Streater and husband Darrell of Wewoka; daughter-in-law, Betty Cook of Wewoka and grandchildren, Clifford Cook, Greg Cook, Rhonda Brakhimer, Vickita Slovacek, Tambra Cook, Mike Streater and Dewayne Streater.
