George Dawson

Funeral services for former Seminole resident George Winfrey Dawson were held on Sept. 29, 2006 in Long Beach, Calif.

Dawson, 81, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006 at his home in Long Beach, Calif. He was born May 3, 1925 in Tulsa to Guiles and Rita Dawson.

He was a graduate of Seminole High School who was employed for many years at Gateway Termite Company.

Dawson was a gifted floral designer and enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping.

His wife of 37 years, Harriet, preceded him in death.

Surviving are sons, George Kent Dawson, Guiles Keith Dawson and Steve Clement; daughters, Paula Dawson and Donna Breslin; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Eloise C. Dickenson

Funeral services for Holdenville native Eloise C. (Harjo) Dickenson are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa with Rev. Frank Moppin officiating.

Interment is to follow in Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 W. Fifth, McGregor, Texas.

Dickenson of Moody, Texas died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006 at the age of 86. She was born June 9, 1920 in Holdenville to Robert B. and Edith (Higgs) Fish.

She was a 1938 graduate of Grand Mission High School in Granado, Ariz. and on Feb. 9, 1939 she married Charles B. Harjo who preceded her in death on March 10, 1977.

Dickenson was employed as a seamstress for 15 years at Big Yank Factory in Wewoka.

In 1992, she moved to Moody from Oklahoma and married Clayton Vernon Dickenson on June 26, 1993 at Willow Grove Baptist Church in Moody. On Dec. 23, 1997 he preceded her in death.

Survivors include son, Johnny Notah of Mesa, Ariz.; three daughters, Charlyn Starey of Spencer, Okla., Lahoma Bise of Sasakwa and Rosie Britton of McGregor, Texas; one brother, Robert B. Fish Jr. of Wewoka; one sister, Evelyn Shelton of Fort Smith, Ark; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; four stepsons and three stepdaughters.

Earl Dill Jr.

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Earl Dill Jr. were held in Wichita Falls, Texas, on July 7, 2006, under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

Minister Gil Peters officiated the service.

Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery in Wichita Falls.

Dill died at the age of 77, on July 3, 2006.

He was born in El Dorado, Kan., on Jan. 13, 1929, to the late Earl Vernon and Alta Lenore (Waterman) Dill.

Dill serviced in the U.S. Air Force, and was later a member of the Texas Electronics Association for many years, serving as president of his local chapter.

He worked as a television and microwave oven technician for over 50 years.

Dill was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Rosalie Ann Northcott, and his daughter, Cydney Kay.

Survivors include his sister, Marjorie Galpin, Seminole; a brother, Clarence Wayne, of Tulsa; a son, Rory Allen, of Wichita Falls; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Homer Dobbins

Funeral services for longtime Maud resident Homer Dobbins are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday at the Church of Christ in Maud with Frank Brewer officiating.

Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud with military honors.

Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.

Homer Dobbins, 85, passed from this life Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006 at Seminole Medical Center. He was born Sept. 30, 1920 in Sage, Ark. to parents Dewey Schofield Dobbins and Sallie (Helm) Dobbins.

Mr. Dobbins had served in the United States Navy during World War II. He received and honorable discharge on Feb. 2, 1946.

He had attained the rank of storekeeper first class. He also received the Good Conduct medal and the Victory medal.

After his military service Dobbins worked over 30 years as a postal clerk at the Maud Post Office. He was also a member of the Maud Church of Christ.

Mr. Dobbins is survived by two nieces, Sue Bohannon and her husband Gary Bohannon of Maud and Sally Kelton of Oklahoma City; one sister-in-law, Frances Dobbins of Humble, Texas; great nieces and nephews, Lisa and Sean Troub of Chickasha, Kim and Shane O'Daniel of Weatherford, Stephanie and Aaron Corbett of Oklahoma City and Jeffrey Kelton of Norman; two great-great nieces, one great-great nephew, and a host of other family and friends.

His parents; one brother, Thomas Dobbins; one sister, Mary Pate and one nephew, Tommy Pate preceded him in death.

Johnny Dodson

Graveside services for Wewoka native and former Cromwell resident, Johnny Leroy Dodson, were held today at 2 p.m. at the Bearden Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Dodson, 64, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006 at his Bearden home. He was born Aug. 26, 1942 in Wewoka.

Dodson lived most of his life in Cromwell before moving to Checotah. For the past four years he has been living in Bearden.

On Aug. 26, 1961 he married Ellen Rose Anderson in Surprise, Ariz. and worked as a mechanic for many years.

He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his four children, Eddie Dodson of Bearden, Regina Taylor of Conway, Ark., Tonya Castoe of Okemah and Johnny Dodson of Okemah; seven brothers, Boyce, Jami, Bobby, Hardy, Bill, Edward and Archie; three sisters, Joyce, Jewel and Irene; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the services were James Whisnant, Charles Castoe, Robert Schmidkofer, Francis Underwood, Rick White and Lonnie Cheatwood.

Jesse Doolen

Graveside services for Wewoka native, Jesse "Bucky" Doolen, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Vamoosa Cemetery with Rev. Stacy Ross officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Doolen, 58 of Oklahoma City, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006 at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born Aug. 12, 1948 in Wewoka to Jesse and Georgia Lenora (Ward) Doolen.

He was of the Baptist faith and worked as a heavy equipment truck driver in the oilfield.

His father preceded him in death.

Surviving is his mother, Georgia Lenora Doolen of Oklahoma City; one son, Jesse Dwayne Doolen of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Bernice Reeves of Oklahoma City and Sonia Harrington of Choctaw; one brother, Henry "Pete" Peters of Newcastle; one sister, Sheila McKeel of Tuttle and loving friend, Peggy Smith of Choctaw.

John Charles Driver

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident John Charles Driver are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Odis McCray officiating.

Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Driver, 59, died Sunday, March 12, 2006 in his home. He was born May 12, 1946 in Seminole to Charles Leslie Driver and Betty Jo (Humphrey) Chadwell.

After graduating from Seminole High School, he married Bobette Burgess and was a security officer for Seminole Nation Development Authority at Mystic Wind Casino.

Driver was a National Guardsman in California and member of First Baptist Church in Seminole.

His father and his wife (June 15, 1994) preceded him in death.

Surviving is his mother, Betty Jo Chadwell of Seminole; one son, Brad Driver of Seminole; one daughter, Crystal Baldwin of Davenport and six grandchildren.

Casket bearers for the services will be Steven Kilgore, Denver Johnson, George Dees, Richard Northcott, Richard Springs, Jack Northcott and Billy Baldwin.

Doyle Doss Dryden

Funeral services for Cromwell resident Doyle Doss Dryden are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Wewoka, with Andy Young officiating.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Doyle passed away Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006 at the age of 79 years in a Holdenville nursing home. He was born March 9, 2006 in Bromide, Okla. to Doyle W. and Agnes B. (Boatright) Dryden.

He attended schools in Bromide, Stratford and Schoolton.

Doyle married Juanita Blevins on Oct. 4, 1945 in Pauls Valley. He served in the United States Air Force and later worked as a truck driver for Seminole County.

His parents, wife Juanita (June 16, 2006), two brothers, Donald Eugene Dryden and Luther William Dryden preceded him in death.

Surviving are daughters, Peggy Ann and husband Andy Young of Bearden and Kathy Gail and husband Lonnie Shoemaker of Red Rock; two grandchildren, Tammy and husband Darrel Pedigo of Tonkawa and Jason Young of Columbia, Mo. and brother, Barney and wife Jacque Dryden of Cromwell.

Juanita Dryden

Funeral services for Cromwell resident Juanita Dryden are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home with Andy Young officiating.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Dryden, 77, died Friday, June 16, 2006 at Holdenville General Hospital in Holdenville. She was born Sept. 29, 1928 in Roswell, N.M. to Lonnie Mitchell and Lilly Gertrude (Ballou) Blevins.

She attended school in Byers, Okla. and later married Doyle Dryden on Oct. 4, 1945 in Pauls Valley.

Dryden is a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Cromwell.

Her parents, sister Ruby Jo Blevins and brother Elvin Blevins preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband of the home; daughters, Peggy Ann Young of Bearden and Kathy Gail Shoemaker of Red Rocks, Okla.; sister, Betty Lou Pritchit and two grandchildren.

Opal Duffy

A memorial service for former Seminole resident Opal Z. Duffy has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 2525 N. Gessner, Houston, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at Little Cemetery, Seminole County, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Duffy, 95 of Houston, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006. She was born Jan. 12, 1911 in Waukomis, Okla. to Harry and Josephine Stutz.

She moved to Seminole in 1927 where she met and married her husband of 50 years, John Veston Duffy. In 1982 she moved to Houston where she spent the rest of her life.

Her husband, J.V. and son, Harry, preceded her in death.

Surviving is her only daughter, Jo Ann Zumwalt, two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions may be made to John Knox Presbyterian Church or any other charity of choice.
