A memorial service for longtime Seminole resident, Robert Lee Duncan is to be scheduled at a later date.
Swearingen Funeral Home will be handling the cremation arrangements.
Duncan, age 67 passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2006 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Jan. 30, 1938 in Lawton to Elmer and Maxine (Lawson) Duncan.
He worked in construction, attended AKASVMKV (Faith Baptist Church) and enjoyed watching sports. Duncan served his country in the United States Army.
His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of 22 years, Flora Johnson Duncan, of the home; one daughter, Renee Mitchell of Atlanta, Texas; two grandchildren, Dustin and Justin; three stepchildren, Sheila, Jeff and Carolyn and many friends who will miss him very much.
Loretta Dutton
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Loretta Long Dutton are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Robert Kernal officiating.
Interment is to follow at Achena Cemetery, near Maud, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
A wake service has been scheduled from 7 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
Dutton, 65, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born Feb. 29, 1940 in Dustin to Thomas Long and Nanny (Simpson) Long.
She was a homemaker who loved to read and work puzzles.
Her parents and first husband, J.R. Wells preceded her in death.
Surviving are four sons, Tom Wells, Todd Wells and Robert Dutton, all of Shawnee and Tyler Wells of Pauls Valley; three daughters, Hayley McLeskey, Lori Dutton and Jamie Dutton, all of Shawnee; one brother, Stanley Long of Shawnee; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
D.J. ‘Bud’ Dye
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident, D.J. "Bud" Dye are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday at Immanuel Fellowship Church with Tim Tate and Dan Fisher officiating.
Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Bud passed from this life Sunday, June 18, 2006 at his home in Seminole at the age of 77. He was born April 10, 1929 in McLoud to Dallas Jackson and Lula (Parker) Dye.
He moved to California and worked for West Kern Water District in Taft, Calif. as a welder. He returned to Seminole 14 years ago after his retirement.
Bud married Lola (Hampton) Dye on Sept. 2, 1975 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Bud was a deeply loved and treasured husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Larry and Janet Dye and Mike Dye, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; step-son and daughter-in-law, John and Peggy Phillips of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughter and son-in-law, Candace and Mark Hudson of Seminole and step-daughter, Jeannie White of Green Valley, Calif.
In addition, six brothers, L.D. Dye, Kenneth Dye and James Dye, all of Seminole, Vernon Dye of Odessa, Texas, Bobby Dye of Earlsboro and Ronald Lee Dye of Noble; two sisters, Lenora Snow of Seminole and Shirley Killebrew of Shawnee; 11 grandchildren, Kalan, Morgan, Riley, Michael, Carlee, Crystal, Trevor, Jason, Christopher, Little John, Jessica and Jennifer and several great grandchildren also survive him.
Pallbearers for the services will be John Hudson, Matt Davis, Trevor Dye, Jerry Sherfield, Levi Hudson, and Mark Hudson.
Aline Dyer
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole County resident Aline Bernice Dyer are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Long officiating.
Interment is to follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Dyer, 62, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006 at Seminole Estates Care Center. She was born Sept. 22, 1944 in Seminole County, near Wolf, to Lonnie Maxwell and Artie (Reames) Maxwell.
She graduated from Vamoosa High School in 1961 and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Konawa.
Her father (2001) and one brother, Roy Dean Maxwell preceded her in death.
Surviving is her mother, Artie Maxwell of Seminole; son, Joe Allen Maxwell of Norman; four brothers, Bobby Maxwell of Harrah, Loyd Maxwell of Konawa, J.L. Maxwell of Seminole and Edward Maxwell of Konawa; three sisters, Kathleen Parks of Seminole, Evyleen Lemmings of Konawa and Dorothy Staring of Wewoka and one granddaughter.
Casket bearers for the services will be Ed Lemmings, Kevin Staring, Keith Maxwell, J.L. Maxwell, Loyd Maxwell and Chris Maxwell.
Carl Edgell Sr.
Funeral service for Seminole resident Carl James Edgell, Sr. are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with President Louis T. Armour, Jr. officiating.
Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Edgell, 70 died Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at Integris Health Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born Nov. 17, 1935 in Seminole to Marcus Marion Edgell and Clara Jane (McKinster) Edgell.
He has lived in Seminole for the past eight years having moved from Las Vegas, Nev.
On June 18, 1977 he married Patricia "Patty" Young in Las Vegas, Nev.
Edgell was a teamster for 30 years in Las Vegas and retired in 1997. For the past four years he was self-employed with Beaver Express Trucking in the Shawnee area.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as high priest group first counselor, and was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Seminole.
His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of the home; daughter Donna Carlene Armour of Seminole; son Carl James Edgell II of Mulvane, Kan.; five sisters, Dewanda June Edgell of Seminole, Iola Brown of Midwest City, Marketta Barnum of Scenic, Ariz., Peggy J. Hanan of Seminole and Carolyn D. Hopper of St. George, Utah; one brother, Harold Charles Edgell of Clarksville, Ark. and five grandchildren.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers that donations may be made to the Humanitarian Aid Fund on behalf of Carl Edgell, LDS Philanthropies, 15 E. South Temple 2E, Salt Lake City, UT 84150.
Casket bearers for the services will be Fredrick Cooper, Richard Cooper, Carl James Edgell II, Ronald Gould, Nicholas Armour and Carl James Barnum.
Hulett Edgmon
Memorial services will be held for Hulett Edgmon at First Baptist Church in Seminole on Friday, Feb. 17 at 10:30 a.m.
Pastor Tommy Clark will officiate.
Services will be under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Stigler.
Hulett was 86 years old when he died Monday evening at 11:54 p.m. at Unity North Medical Center in Shawnee after suffering a heart attack in the home.
He was born in Hazel, Okla., Oct. 7, 1919 to "B" and Mary Edgmon.
He had brief stays in Texas, Konawa and Wewoka, before making his home in Seminole.
It was in Wewoka while working for Sinclair Services that Hulett wrote up his own draft paper for the Army.
Before leaving for a tour of duty in Europe during World War II, he married Mary Jo Guthrie in December 1940.
After returning from the Army, Hulett and Mary Jo located in Seminole where they have resided happily married for the past 65 years.
Hulett was professionally known in the community for his over 40 years of service in the banking industry at First State Bank of Seminole and at First National Bank in Prague.
Community contributions were associated with his involvement in the Seminole Jaycees, Seminole Chamber of Commerce and the Seminole Park Board.
He loved all sports, but was best known for his passion for the game of golf.
He won a number of local and statewide tournaments and honors and in his later years served on the State Seniors Board of Directors.
He was a fierce competitor on the golf course and was most proud of his ability to consistently "shoot his age" over the past 15 years and the fact that he shared the "family" record for the number of holes-in-one (four) with grandson Chris.
As an active member of First Baptist Church of Seminole, he loved his involvement with the many wonderful members of the "church family."
Hulett Edgmon will be missed as an industry professional, community supporter, sports enthusiast, but most of all as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and "special" friend to many.
He is survived by the "love of his life, " Mary Jo, of the home; son and daughter, Hugh and Susan Edgmon, Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandson Chris Edgmon, Dallas, Texas; granddaughter, Christy and her husband Chad Martin of Frisco, Texas; "the boys, " great-grandson Cade and Campbell; and one nephew and his wife, J.E. and Mary Irby of Houston, Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made to Falls Creek Children’s Camp in care of First Baptist, 420 Reid Street, Seminole.
Retha Vera Edmonds
Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Retha Vera Edmonds are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Little Cemetery with Rev. Mike Vallandingham officiating.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Retha Vera Edmonds passed away Thursday, March 9, 2006 in Holdenville at the age of 91. She was born March 9, 1915 in Dora, Okla. to William Houston and Ora Vera (Barrett) Robertson.
She married J. Thomas Edmonds on Jan. 31, 1931 in Dora, Okla. and he preceded her in death in 1983.
She was a Seminole resident for 18 years moving here from Davis, Okla., and was a nurse for many years.
Her parents, husband, and one son, Jimmy Don Edmonds, precede her in death.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lucy and Glenn Cook of Wewoka and Virginia and Larry Fox of Shawnee; one son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Mary Edmonds of Davis, Okla.; four brothers, Earl and Lillian Robertson of Shawnee, James Robertson of Seminole, Roland and Ruby Robertson of Seminole and Oland Robertson of Houston, Texas, and one sister, Lucillia and Arnold Barber of Texas.
Eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive her.
Ginger Edney
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Ginger L. Edney are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Don Thomason officiating.
Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Edney, 60, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2006 in Seminole. She was born July 25, 1946 in Buffalo, Okla. to Alexander and Nellie Louise (Cockrom) Weese.
On July 24, 1965 she married Daniel William "Dan" Edney in Junction City, Kan. She was a clerk at J.C. Penney’s for many years.
Her parents; sisters, Irma Fleming, Ruth Handlen, Agnes Wellman, Ruby Ashlock, Martha McAfee and Bessie Allen and brothers, Lloyd Veach, Sammy, Donald, Virgil and Bennie Weese preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel Edney Jr. of Chandler, Ariz. and Kenneth Harjo of Vernon, Texas; stepson, Danny Ray Edney of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; two daughters, Tami Camacho of Vernon, Texas and Tina Verel of Broken Arrow; one brother, E.L. Edwards of Brussels, Belgium; two sisters, Verna Valentine of Tulsa and Dora Thomason of Collinsville, Okla. and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the services will be Tami Camacho, Isac Camacho, Tina Verel, Jason Verel, Dan Edney Jr. and Lisa Edney.
Honorary bearers will be Alvis Cambell, Kenneth Harjo, Marvin Griffin, Dana Harris, Roy Griffin, Kevin Griffin, Dennis Smith and Corey Camacho.
