Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident William Leon Freeman are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole.
Rev. Louis Allen Perry is to officiate with interment to follow at McGee Cemetery in Stratford under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Seminole.
Freeman, 90, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006 at Seminole Medical Center. He was born in Stratford Sept. 15, 1915 to John Freeman and Eula Mae (Horn) Freeman.
On July 4, 1939 he married Julia Nethelene Hinkle and she preceded him n death on Sept. 20, 1986, after 49 years of marriage.
Freeman was a former schoolteacher, school administrator and coach at Stratford and Quinton. He taught for 32 years at Seminole Junior College and Seminole High School. He retired from teaching in 1978.
He was a graduate of East Central University and the University of Oklahoma. Freeman taught accounting and other business subjects.
Freeman was also a fulltime public accountant for White Trucking, National Concrete, Webster Electric and Curry Hardin. In addition, he ran an income tax service from his home.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he was a payroll accountant. Freeman was also a member of the Seminole Bass Club for 30 years.
His parents, wife and one brother, Marvin Freeman preceded him in death.
Surviving is one son, Bob and Barbara Freeman of Tulsa; one brother, J.T. Freeman of Stratford; two grandchildren, Bobby Keith Freeman and Debra Dean; three great-grandchildren, Ian, Collin and Tristan Dean and a special friend, Wilma Garrett.
Essie Gaines
Funeral services for longtime Konawa area resident Essie Gaines are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Konawa.
Richard Winters is to officiate. Interment is to follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.
Gaines, 90, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at residence near Konawa. She was born Aug. 20, 1915 in Vamoosa to Joseph Porter "J.P." Robinson and Renie Sarah (Harris) Robinson.
On July 15, 1933 she married Edward Gaines in Sasakwa. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ in Konawa.
Her parents, husband (May 4, 1986) and seven siblings preceded her in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Wanda Lowry of Konawa, Linda Betty of Oakton, Va. and Betty Wieghard of Oklahoma City; one sister, Pearl Goodrich of Oceanside, Calif.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Jerry Gaines
Graveside services for former Sasakwa resident Jerry Don Gaines are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka. Steve Walton will officiate.
Services are under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
Gaines passed away at Southwestern Medical Center in Oklahoma City on Monday, March 6, 2006, at the age of 55 years. He was born on June 1, 1950, in Holdenville to Marshall Lodus Gaines and Alta Pearl (Hailey) Gaines.
He was reared in Sasakwa until age 15, and then moved to California, where the family lived in Napa and in Woodland.
Gaines served in the United States Army in Vietnam. Following military service, he worked for several years in the Oklahoma oilfields, then returned to California, where he drove a wrecker for several years, before driving trucks cross-country for ten years.
He is survived by his wife, Lana, of the home; one daughter, Gina Lilly of California; two sons, Roger Gaines of Woodland, Calif. and Keith Chesser of Konawa; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Doris Spruill of Allen, Okla., Margie Dodd of Bowlegs, Betty Cook of Crowder and Belva Krause of Bowlegs and two brothers, Eddie Gaines of Texas and Jimmy Gaines of Bowlegs.
Lee Gaines
A memorial service was recently held for former Seminole County resident Lee Gaines at Aria Crematory and Funeral Home.
Gaines died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006 in Garland, Texas. He was born Sept. 1, 1930 in Wewoka to Homer and Ollie (Trout) Gaines.
He moved to Garland, Texas in 1960.
Surviving is his wife, Dolly of the home; three daughters, Karen Low-Alice of Seminole, Jo Beth Russelburg of Ft. Pierce, Fla. And Linda Butterfield of Edmond; one son, Kevin Roland of Mesquite, Texas; three brothers, Hulen of Wewoka, Truman of Seminole and Bobby of Henryetta; eight granddaughters, two grandsons and 11 great-grandchildren.
John Eric Galliena
Funeral services for John Eric Galliena of Denton, Texas are to be held in Texas following his death on Monday, March27, 2006.
Galliena, 83, was born in Chicago, Ill. on Feb. 4, 1923 to John and Mary Galliena.
His parents and one brother, Mike Galliena preceded him in death.
Surviving are three children, Crystal White of Texas, Richard Galliena of Holdenville and Laverne Galliena of Woodward; six grandchildren, Robert Galliena of Oklahoma City, J.P. Galliena of Kansas City, Kan., Anthony Galliena of Reno, NV, Josh and Jack Galliena of Jackson, Miss and Kim Galliena of San Antonio, Texas and three great-grandchildren.
Gladys Carol Gallina
Funeral services for Gladys Carol Gallina of Denton, Texas, are to be held in Texas following her death on May 18, 2006.
Gallina, 74, had many friends and family members in Seminole County.
She was born Oct. 3, 1932 in Denton, Texas, to Alex Thompson and Beverly Thompson, who preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death was her husband, John Gallina, who died March 27, 2006, at the age of 83.
She is survived by three children, Crystal White of Texas, Richard Gallina of Holdenville, and Laverne Gallina of Woodward; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Marjorie Galpin
Funeral services for Seminole resident Marjorie Dill Bradbury Galpin are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Louis Armour and Shane Iverson officiating.
Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Galpin, 81, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2006 at home. She was born Aug. 30, 1924 in Eldorado, Kan. to Earl Vernon Dill and Alta Lenore Waterman Dill.
The family moved to Las Vegas, Nev. in 1960, where she resided for 30 years until retirement. She moved to Cedar City, Utah and lived for eight years before returning to Oklahoma in 1995.
In 1939 she married Harold lee Bradbury in the Nazarene Church Parsonage in Holdenville. He preceded her in death Sept. 7, 1974.
On Sept. 20, 1988 she married Norman Galpin in Cedar City, Utah. He preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 2002.
Galpin was employed as a medical assistance and was active in the Nevada Medical Assistant Association, of which she was a former State President.
She worked for the Nevada State Health Department in tuberculosis control from 1965 – 1970.
Galpin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Her parents; an infant baby brother; son, Daniel Bradbury (Jan. 26, 1994); great-granddaughter, Brandi Sester (May 30, 2006) and brother, Earl Dill Jr. (July 3, 2006) preceded her in death.
Surviving is son, David Bradbury of Lompoc, Calif.; two daughters, Patsy parsons and Jane Taylor, both of Seminole; one stepdaughter, Sandra Galpin Pittman of Portland, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and one brother, Clarence W. Dill of Tulsa.
Casket bearers will be her grandsons, James Parsons, Daniel Taylor, Lance Bradbury, Scott Bradbury, David Jr. Bradbury, Drew Evans, Preston Gilmore and Aaron Lohman.
Billy Ray ‘Bill’ Garner
Funeral services for lifelong resident Billy Ray "Bill" Garner are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Maud with Rev. Danny O’Daniel officiating.
Interment is to follow at Cummings Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Garner passed away at his home in Maud Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006 at the age of 65. He was born Jan. 3, 1941 in Maud to Arthur Otto Garner and Iva (Patterson) Garner.
On April 13, 1967 Bill married Linda Taff in Seminole and would have celebrated their 39th anniversary this year.
He was a self-employed carpenter who retired in 1999 due to health reasons. He was of the Baptist faith. Bill served in the United States Army.
His parents; brother, Dale Garner; mother-in-law, Chrisa Price and one brother-in-law, Melvin Taff preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife Linda Garner of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Dana Garner and David and Ronelle Garner, all of Maud; one daughter, Kimberly garner of Maud; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glendon and Margret Garner and Ray and "Aunt Jim" Garner, all of Maud; one sister, Barbara Barner of Prague and three grandchildren, Dugan Henson, Garrett and Chrisa Garner, all of Maud.
Casket bearers for the services will be Nick Silas, Ronnie Silas, Geoff Garner, Brad Shultz, Harold Brewer and Noland "Buddy" Dodson.
Honorary bearers are to be Mike Garner, Greg Price, Bob Miller, Pat Wilson, James Olliff, Jim Taff and Walter Taff.
Clyde Lee Gasaway
A memorial service has been scheduled for lifelong Konawa resident Clyde Lee Gasaway for 2 p.m. Saturday at Konawa Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.
Gasaway, 66, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006 in his home. He was born Jan. 18, 1940 in Konawa to Earl and Cecil (Edwards) Gasaway.
He worked for Seminole County District 1 and for the City of Konawa for several years.
His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving is one aunt, Elizabeth Humphries of Konawa.
Colt Gibson Jr
Graveside services for newborn infant, Colt Gibson, Jr. were held today at 10:30 a.m. at the Harjo Family Cemetery with Rev. Houston Tiger officiating.
Services were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Gibson is the son of former Seminole resident Alice Harjo and Colt Gibson, Sr., both of Oklahoma City. He was born and died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006 at Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Surviving are his parents; two brothers, Corey Lee and Darren Harjo and maternal grandparents, Sharon Ortiz and William Knight, all of Oklahoma City.
Mary Crain Gilbert
Funeral services for Mary Annette Crain Gilbert are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Stout-Philips Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.
Gilbert, 46 of Dallas, Texas, died Saturday, May 20, 2006 in Dallas. She was born Oct. 6, 1959 in Muskogee to Billie and Christine Mansour Crain.
Her parents were from the Sasakwa area and her father was a retired federal judge in McAlester.
She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Stephen F. Austin College and a master’s degree from East Central State College, Ada.
On April 6, 2001 she married Doug Gilbert in Santa Fe, N.M. and they made their home in the Dallas area. She was a homemaker.
Surviving is her husband of the home; her parents of McAlester; son Adam Crain of Dallas and brother, James A. Crain of Dallas.
