Lois M. Gilleland

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Lois M. (Crowder) Gilleland are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Lindsey Chapel Baptist Church, located north of Eufaula.

Tim Turner will officiate the service with interment at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole at 2:30 p.m. under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Gilleland passed from this life into the glory land of Heaven Sunday, March 26, 2006 at the age of 73 years. She was born Nov. 4, 1932 in Watonga to Leonard and Fern Crowder.

Lois was a graduate of Seminole High School in 1949. She lived for lengthy periods of time in Seminole, Oklahoma City and on Lake Eufaula.

Lois was a devoted believer of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who developed lasting relations and friendship with all she met.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who was admired by all for her kindness.

Her parents, two brothers, Sam H. Crowder and Eugene Crowder and one great-grandson, Logan Gilleland preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband, Don Gilleland of Checotah; son and daughter-in-law, Don E. and Marlene Gilleland of Tuttle; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Steve McGinley of Yukon and Laurie and Mike Nevins of Tulsa; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hugh Crowder and Dale and Jeanie Crowder and two sisters-in-law, Vivian Crowder and Lenora Crowder.

Additional survivors include, grandchildren: Jeff Gilleland of Blanchard, Jamie Boren of Blanchard, Kelly Means, Brain Creach, Brett Creach and Sean McGinley of Yukon, and Lindsey Nevins of Overland Park, Kan. And Kyle Nevins of Tulsa; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Gilleland, Garrett and Jessi Boren, Payton and Parker Means, Carson Creach and Ashlyn DePriest.

Casket bearers for the services will be Jeff Gilleland, Brain Creach, Brett Creach, Kyle Nevins, Sean McGinley, John Means and Scott Brown.

Leroy Goad

A memorial service is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Rev. Doyle Long, officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Leroy Goad, 73 year old, longtime Seminole resident passed from this life on Jan. 31, 2006 at Unity North Hospital in Shawnee.

He was born Oct. 18, 1932 in Seminole to Roy Goad and Pauline Marie (Henderson) Goad. Both parents preceded him in death.

Leroy graduated from Seminole High School in 1951 before entering the United States Air Force in 1952 until 1956 and for many years after his enlistment he was active with the reserves in Ardmore and Tinker.

Leroy was a barber for over 30 years at "Leroy’s Barbershop" on Main Street in Seminole, he also retired from Seminole post office in 1976 after 17 years of service.

Goad was a third generation Mason in the Seminole Masonic Lodge and was a volunteer fireman in Seminole with 20 years of service.

Mr. Goad is survived by his wife Barbara Jean (Keough) Bassford Goad, who he married Oct. 6, 1994 in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Also surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Sherrie Willis of St. Petersburg, Fla., Tammy and Johnny Sylsberry of Seminole and Amy and Rodney Anderson of Seminole; four stepdaughters and sons-in-laws, Debbie Lee and Tim Redfern, Dana Lynn Bassford and Trina Marie and Mike Welk, all of Silverthorn, Colo. and Tawney Jean Bassford of Seminole.

Five grandchildren also survive him, Lacy Collins, Jarrod Willis, Britne Pharaoh, Jordyn Johnson and Makyla Anderson; nine step-grandchildren, Dakota Anderson, Maranda Anderson, Skylar Anderson, Jonathan Redfern, Joseph Welk, Stephanie Welk, Mike Sylsberry, Amber Bowling and Justin Sylsberry, one great-grandchild, Dayton Collins and three step-great-grandchildren, Madyson Sylsberry and twins Zoë and Emma Redfern.

Mr. Goad is also survived by, his former wife and the mother of his children, Barbara McMahan of Seminole.

Eudell C. ‘ Dell’ Good

Funeral Services for Dell C. Good, 81, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Stout-Phillips Chapel in Wewoka, with Rev. Dewayne Jackson officiating.

Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Good died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 at Unity North, Shawnee. He was born Sept. 15, 1924 in LeFlore, Okla. to Roy and Fannie (Thompson) Good.

He attended Wewoka Schools before entering the United States Army serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He married Jean Poole on Sept. 15, 1946 in Wewoka; she survives him of their home in Seminole.

Good retired May 1, 1987 from Sun Oil in Seminole after 35 years of service.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved the outdoors with the hobbies of fishing, camping, and working in his yard.

Back in his younger days, he and Jean loved riding motorcycles and boating with their family.

Other survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Regina Good of Oklahoma City, Mike and Mona Good of Seminole, Mark Good of Wewoka; daughter Vicki Newman of Seminole; sister Wanda Sheriff of Amarillo, Texas; four grandchildren, April Johnson of Seminole, Sommer Wood, of Tecumseh, Adam and Brittany Good of Seminole and four great-grandchildren.

His parents preceded him in death.

Pallbearers will be Adam Good, Brandon Johnson, Russell Wood, Destin Johnson, Rodney Cooper and Wayne Chambers.

Honorary pallbearers include Bob Newman Sr., L.V. Stephens, Bob Kennedy, Bob Shackelford, Cecil Moore, and Jim Duncan.

Leroy Gordon

Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Leroy Gordon are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Macedonia Baptist Church in Wewoka.

Rev. Willie Quient of Middlecreek Baptist Church is to officiate.

Interment is to follow at Westwood Cemetery under the direction of Myers Mortuary.

Gordon 56 of Wewoka died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 in Wewoka. He was born Sept. 20, 1949 in Jones to Jimmie Lee and Aline (Frazier) Gordon.

He attended elementary school at Nobletown and graduated from Butner High School.

Gordon’s employment over the years has included 13 years at Big Yank, 41 years at Ted Tucker and two years as a cook for Elmwood Nursing Home.

His parents preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Earnestine of the home; two sons, Blake and Lemar Gordon of Wewoka; brother, Jimmie Lee Gordon of Wewoka; two sisters, Yvonne White and Ella Mae Gordon, both of Oklahoma City and nine grandchildren.

Austin Zane Gore

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Austin Zane Gore are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Mullins officiating.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Wewoka under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Austin was born Oct. 14, 1983 in Seminole and he graduated in May 2002 from Butner High School and attended Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech School and was a member of V.I.C.A. club.

After graduation he attended OSU Tech in Okmulgee and graduated in 2004 with an associated degree applied sciences in HVAC. He was a HVAC Journeyman and worked for McCowan Refrigeration as a service technician.

Austin was a dedicated worker and had a great love for family and friends.

His grandfathers, Bobby Gore Sr. and Kenneth Sherlock; aunts, Kendall Farris and Karla Crow and uncle David Gore preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Angela, and son, Zane Alexander Gore of the home; parents, Bobby Gore and wife Brenda and Kelly Farris Southers, all of Wewoka; brothers, Richard J. Vreeland, Norman, Brad Orsburn, Wewoka, David L. Orsburn, Norman and David Kendall Gore, Wewoka; sister, Karrie and husband Josh Cloud, of Seminole; mother and father-in-law, Cleta and Billy Whisnant, Cromwell and grandparents, Frances Gore, Holdenville, Becky Sherlock, Wewoka and Arther and Barbara Orsburn, Wewoka.

Austin also has a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and many loving friends.

Sheila Gayle Gore

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Sheila Gayle Gore have been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Wayne Sloan officiating.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Sheila Gayle Gore passed away, Monday, April 10, 2006 at the age of 43. She was born on Oct. 16, 1962 in Wewoka to Howard Lonzo and Laura Mae (Brown) Yancey.

She married Buddy Gore on July 3, 1989 in Seminole.

She is survived by her husband of the home; father, Howard Lonzo Yancey of Seminole; three sons, Michael Richard Gore and David Leon Gore, both of Seminole and Frank Jackson Gore, Jr. of the home and daughter and son-in-law, Krystal Marie and Jamal Khalil of Seminole.

In addition she has eight sisters and brothers-in-law surviving her, Betty Lozer of Crane, Texas, Margaret McNeill, Shirley and Kenny Castle and Judy and Al Roberts, all of Seminole, Lillie and Darryl Davidson of Alamo, Texas, Dorothy and Leon Marlow of Seminole, Patricia and John Whitham of Seminole and Dollie Kelough of Salina, Oklahoma, four grandchildren; Calista Khalil, Riley Khalil, Brooklyn Khalil, all of Seminole and Dava Gore of Florida.

She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Her mother, Laura Mae Yancey; brother, Howard Lee Yancey and two sisters, Linda and Deloris Yancey preceded her in death.

Casket bearers will be Steven Lozer, David Lozer, Tommy Monks, Billy Hart, Mike Hart, and David Colvin.

Honorary casket bearers will be David Gore, Billy Lee, Jamal Khalil, Frank Gore, Jr., Mike Gore, Little Richard Kilgore and Adam Phillips.

James Grant

Funeral services for Sasakwa resident James Edward Grant are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Sasakwa Assembly of God Church with Rev. Wesley Martin officiating.

Interment will follow at Konawa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Grant, 67, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006 in his residence. He was born Jan. 26, 1939 in Phoenix, Ariz. to Tollie and Jessie F. (Sumpter) Grant.

He attended Konawa Public Schools and was a resident of Phoenix, Ariz. before moving to Sasakwa in 2001.

On Aug. 29, 1959 he married Jessie Anita Hargrave in Phoenix, Ariz.

He worked as an automotive parts repairman at Copperstate Automotive in Phoenix before retiring in 2001.

Grant was enlisted in the National Guard for eight years and was a member of the Sasakwa Assembly of God Church. He was a lifetime member of the North American Hunting and Fishing Club and was a former member of the Jaycees.

Surviving is his mother, Jessie Grant of Ada; his wife, Jessie Anita Grant of the home; one daughter, Toni Barkley of Ouitman, Texas; two sons, Richard Grant of Kansas and William V. Grant of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Barbara Jones of Sasakwa and Martha Tyler of Konawa; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the services will be J.W. Story, Brad Story, Mark Barkley, Kevin Grant, Roger Bushong and John Rowland.

Honorary bearers will be Charlie Price, Pat Walker, Louis Mann, Ozell Jones, Don Albertson and R.L. Grant.

Janet Gray

A memorial service for former Seminole resident Janet Lynn Gray is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment is to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Shawnee and is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Gray, 53, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006. She was born Sept. 2, 1953 in Shawnee to Robert and Joyce Plank.

She graduated from Indian Meridan nursing school in 1985 and she worked as a labor and delivery nurse for many years at Cushing Hospital.

Her grandparents, Gladys and John Wells and Guy and Anna Mae Rhoades preceded her in death.

Surviving are her parents, Robert and Joyce Plank of Piedmont, Okla.; brothers, Robert Plank of Tulsa and Rusty Plank of Oklahoma City; sister, Jennifer Todd of Piedmont; her children, Christopher and Kristy Woodruff of Edmond, Lynn Elizabeth and Nick Anderson of Portland and John Tyler Hager of Edmond and two granddaughters.
